Has Potential, but it's a bit unbalanced, matches are very long and rewards are very low. They really nailed in the visuals, the ambientation is very good.

The game is fun to play and has a lot of good Evil Dead fan-service. Graphics and the sound are great.

Sadly the game is unbalanced in favour of survivors when they have high level characters. If a team of 4 high level survivors play together there is no chance of winning for the demon player. There is also too many healing and shield items on the map. The single player is fun and

Evil Dead the Game, great concept fun and challenging, but has a extremely unbalanced and slow leveling system that will make you face you off with max level players no matter how low your level is resulting in a matches you will never be able to do much in. The game design works of the principle of trying to be frustrating as possible, resulting the player is in a constant hoping for dopamine rush that can't be satisfied. If you have an additive personality this game will swallow your soul.

Pros - As part of the Evil Dead franchise it does a great job of feeling like the films. The concept of going on a scavenger hunt while being stocked by demons is fun. The characters they chose to put in the game are iconic from the franchise. The locations on the map take you back to the movies as well.

Cons - The leveling system seems like a great idea but match making doesn't reflect your level if your level one, there's a good chance you will go up vs a max level character that will have so many advantages you won't be able to do much. Your better off not doing anything the whole match and waiting for it to end so you can get some XP then trying at that point.

There are places on the map were characters will get stuck and unable to move which is a death sentence to anyone surrounded by demons. There are lights in the game you need to light with matches to control your fear but sometimes they wont active unless you get your camera in game facing the exact point, this bug will screw your chances of living long. Getting backed into a corner will often get your collision detection on your character stuck on meshes of the map to making the combat more clunky and difficult.

There isn't much single player options in the game nor much incentive for co op vs the AI it gives you scraps for XP. Losing a PVP match gives more XP then winning vs the AI so if you want to level your best bet is to be a jerk and do nothing the whole time in a PVP.

Conclusion - I wish I could give it a better rating being a huge Evil Dead fan but the design choices and and bugs in the game make it hard to justify playing it to much. It can be a fun break from other games but the lack of good balanced match making make it a less of a complete game at the moment. I hope they address this in the future but seems like it would counter their design principle of creating a additional frustration loop in the minds of its player base.

Having a blast with this game. High levels of violence, captures the evil dead vibe really well. It's fun to play with friends.

Understanding the joy of the movies, Evil Dead delivers slick matches and buckets of fun, whether you’re a human or something sinister. Groovy. [Issue#16, p.155]

We'd suggest it might be time to lay the "Dead by Daylight" formula to rest, but you know how these things go in horror movies: it'd only rise again as soon as our backs were turned. [Issue#373, p.112]

An essential purchase for fans of Ash Williams and the unique blend of gore and comedy that the Evil Dead series has created, this asymmetrical horror game builds on the foundation that games like Dead by Daylight have laid. It might not innovate but there’s a surprising amount of content and replayability in Evil Dead: The Game that raids 40 years of film and television for ideas and puts them to excellent use.
