    Bought the game based on (8+) User Score and was hugely disappointed. There is basically just a single multiplayer mode in the game. The graphics and audio is cool, but the gameplay is VERY boring and repetitive. The combat does not feel satisfying at all.

But this game reminds me Hood Outlaws and legends. playing survivor is so dull and uninteresting...smashing ai over and over again is sooo boring...No skill involved here. you just need to grind, loot and stick together... Only better when you play the demon. and there is no way to change sensitivity, horrible stick deadzone.. I dont recommendSound and universe of this game is great.     The balance of the game is on the side of the survivors with a big skew. Demon is not really playable. In 20 matches, not a single victory for him. Before that, I played DBD, Predator Hunting Grounds, Friday the 13th. Dead Evil is the hardest villain to play. And for a survivor of even the most basic level, you can win here.

    This is the worst POS I have ever played for the PS5. If something happens like EX: a game error for whatever reason you have to wait a specified time to play a new game. If that isn't bad enough I got disconnect due to an in game error. The single player is also trash, if you lose you wind up at the beginning of the level. there is an also an issue with you getting stuck or caught onThis is the worst POS I have ever played for the PS5. Most players want to pay as the survivor characters and the whinging that the demon was too hard made Saber nerf the demon to the point of it being paper thin. So now, no one wants to play the demon. In a 4v1If anyone is reading this towards the end of the year, please please PLEASE do yourself a favour and avoid it. The game is at best broken and at worst unplayable. Here is the problem. Most players want to pay as the survivor characters and the whinging that the demon was too hard made Saber nerf the demon to the point of it being paper thin. So now, no one wants to play the demon. In a 4v1 game if the "1" isn't being played by anyone then you sit around in the lobby for up to an hour for a game. When a demon player does come along, they quit because they see the hugely overpowered and now upgraded survivor players and just leave. They then have to sit for a 5 min cool down period and usually will drift off and play something else while that team of 4 sit and hope the next demon won't quit. This was made all the worse when they gave the game away for free to PC players. This is a cross platform game which is now full of PC gamers who just leave, quit or cheat. Again, it doesn't make for a fun experience. Saber were told several times on the FB group that what they were doing was wrong but they made the changes and now there is no way back. It was the nail in the coffin when they made the last buffs all for the survivors as it meant most Demon players had had enough. All because the 4 in the 4v1 cried too loud that they were getting beaten and not playing as a team. When it worked it was a fun game but it needed a more robust dev team who wouldn't give in to the crying toxic players who weren't winning every match. A real shame but I hope that one day a decent dev will make something of the franchise.… Expand

    I give this a one because I like the graphics, as for the rest of the game.... :( it's TERRIBLE! I have tried all the modes online and off and to me this game is useless! A lot of people say they lave it, but then say they are hoping for fixes and add-ons (what, are you still waiting for them to fix Friday the 13th as well?)! To me I say NO, You can't just hope that the game developers doI give this a one because I like the graphics, as for the rest of the game.... :( it's TERRIBLE!     There are no spoilers here, because I wanted to write down my impressions of the game and explain them. This "game" is a cash grab directly spawned from the movie of the same name. I loved the movie, it's a campy classic that is a joy to watch, but this "game" isn't worth the time I spent on the review. This "game" is a cash grab directly spawned from the movie of the same name. I loved the movie, it's a campy classic that is a joy to watch, but this "game" isn't worth the time I spent on the review. If you didn't watch the movie and Bruce is an unknown to you, please don't bother with this. There is nothing here. A single-player campaign of some length was what I expected, dealing with lots of peripheral topics concerning the game's characters that builds into, finally, the movie, more or less. But in a far more detailed, interesting, and genuinely frightening way. So many unexpected turns and twists could have been written in--what an incredible waste of time this game is. This game isn't remotely "scary" or "frightening" or "chilling," whatever. Campbell's original movie was actually scary and frightening in many places, believe it or not. This game? It's a grade C psycho slasher with no single-player game at all that I could see. I just shake my head when I envision what might have been. The entire game could be used as nothing more than a trailer for the original movie--one of many trailers, that is. That's the best I could say for it. Bruce's original movie was meant to be horrifying--his intention was to create real fright and horror. The "campiness" of it was purely accidental/incidental and came about only because of the movie's extreme poverty of budget and his nonexistent "SpecialFX department." If Campbell had tried to be campy in that original movie, it would not have been much good at all, and I doubt anyone would remember it today. What I came away with is only that the people making this game didn't have a clue as to what made Evil Dead such a classic. Like I said: pure cash grab off the title of the original movie. How commercially successful would this game have been if entitled, "Bruce Campbell's Cabin," or "Bruce the Demon Mauler" or something else?...;) No, to sell at all, the words "Evil Dead" had to be in the game title, and those words are easily the most frightening aspect of the game. What a waste; what could have been! Move along, nothing to see here. The original movie is the real McCoy.… Expand

    I'd like to warn my fellow Australian gamers NOT TO BUY this game as it does not have local servers. Playing as demon is impossible in Australia since the demon is the host and the host needs to have the best latency. Believe me, I left the game searching for a game as demon for an HOUR but I could not find a game. You basically don't get to play half the game you payed 60A$ for. AndI'd like to warn my fellow Australian gamers NOT TO BUY this game as it does not have local servers. Playing as demon is impossible in Australia since the demon is the host and the host needs to have the best latency. Believe me, I left the game searching for a game as demon for an HOUR but I could not find a game. You basically don't get to play half the game you payed 60A$ for.     The game is riddled with bugs that make playing frustrating. Apart from that, when you are starting out you play against people with a high level, which gives hard stat advantages: more damage, more abilities, lower cooldowns etc. So unless you like losing because the other players simply have a hard insurmountable advantage, avoid at all costs.

    El juego estara bueno (desinstalado actualmente), tiene mucho potencial , aunque tambien bugs y desbalanceos, en si pasa como en DBD si juegas contra un equipo pre armado la tendras muy dificil, la movilidad del demonio en modo invisible OJO no es intangible, te topas con todo lo que encuentres y al no tener un tope de giro puedes terminar casi de cabeza y mirando hacia otro lado algunasEl juego estara bueno (desinstalado actualmente), tiene mucho potencial , aunque tambien bugs y desbalanceos, en si pasa como en DBD si juegas contra un equipo pre armado la tendras muy dificil, la movilidad del demonio en modo invisible OJO no es intangible, te topas con todo lo que encuentres y al no tener un tope de giro puedes terminar casi de cabeza y mirando hacia otro lado algunas veces lo que en algunas circunstancias te ralentiza, algunas trampas estan inutiles ya que colisionan con otro objeto entonces no pueden ser colocadas, los supervivientes pueden ir a dos objetivos al mismo tiempo tanto a la daga como al libro y la pregunta del millon es como el demonio puede proteger ambos puntos, aun poniendo trampas los NPCs no inflingen tanto daño , fuera que la IA es demasiado lenta para responder, mi recomendacion es si ves que si vas de demonio y los supervivientes son de una sola plataforma o algo que te haga pensar sean premade, prueba otra, salvo que tengas a tu personaje en muy alto nivel , hablo 35 o mas, sino, lo mas seguro es que, tendras el libro y la daga hechos al mismo tiempo y tu sin poder subir tanto para el acto final, como dije el juego aun esta recien lanzado y el desarrollador podria cambiar eso, o dejarlo morir, en rendimiento me parece que fuerza la resolucion, el menos en mi caso por mas que le subo se redimensiona a 1080 pero bueno eso es un tema distinto, por otro lado , se copia todo lo que pasa en estos juegos estilo 4vs1 juegas como el demonio o asesino contra randoms puedes sacar buena partida dependiendo , porque aun contra randoms si cada uno sabe lo que debe hacer ira bien, la movilidad del personaje como jefe me parece pobre deberia poder mejorarse, es demasiado lenta y al desposeerlo es resignar los puntos que gastaste cosa que en ciertas areas es critica dado que no hay muchos puntos demoniacos o los gastaste en el jefe y el superviviente lo unico que hizo fue correr y se arreglo el problema ahi, como dije este es otro juego mas que se suma a los PRO supervivientes, algo que se ve mucho tomando como ejem DBD, donde pasa exactamente lo mismo, y los desarrolladores no han logrado mayor balance, aqui tiene el beneficio de que al ser poco de su lanzamiento pues aun puede arreglarlo, es un buen juego, pero para ser muy bueno o pasar de un 7 en mi opinion necesitaria arreglar los errores, como trampas colisionantes que son inutiles, mejorar el modo en el que un demonio obtiene puntos demoniacos, es muy circunstancial esparcirlos en el mapa dado que no siempre la accion ocurrira ahi, los supervivientes solo tienen que ir de un lado a otro y los puntos estan en las cajas, mientras no hagan ruido no los notaras y por tanto cuando te encuentres con ellos ya iran muy chetos, podria alargarme pero ya creo que conforme cada quien lo juegue se dara cuenta, a futuro cuando mejore lo tendre en cuenta sino bueno hay muchas opciones porque para desbalanceo ya tenemos DBD… Expand

With that out of the way I will commence my actual game review.

    Introduction and aesthetic:
    Evil Dead: The Game is a love letter to it's source material and well incorperates all 3 films within its masterfully constructed aesthetic. The sound design of the game is phenominal and truly took me by surprise, and while I know not all gamers care much about this, it adds a great deal of immersion.

    Survivor Gameplay:
    Saber entertainment continue with their prolific proficiency in third person horde combat gameplay however in this iteration there is a fair bit of survival-horror spin. As a long time fan of both saber interactive's 'World War Z' and capcom's 'Resident Evil', it was truly fascinating to see this genre hybridity in full swing.

    Demon Gameplay:
    Playing the kandarian demon is an incredible reverse-horror experience. Despite being largely ethereal throughout the game, the disconnected feeling is effectively mitigated by the interaction still retained with the environment, making you feel more so like a powerful demonic prescence than a ghost. There is a great range of gameplay styles to explore and master within this game and I can definitely see a very high skill ceiling forming in the future with the potential for a competitive scene. It gives a truly powerful feeling yet greatly different to the experiences of its predecessors of 'Friday the 13th' and DBD, due to the horde control elements.

    Combat:
    The combat mechanics are truly astounding for what this game is and there is a far larger prevalence on melee combat than I had expected due to the very welcome scarcity of ammo. Bladed combat has just the right amount of realism and hack-and-slash while bludgeoning weapons have a perfect amount of 'oomph' to them.

    Progression:
    Progression throughout the game adds an effective sense of accomplishment, and even after it has all been achieved, replayablity is still fun just as it was in DBD.

    Limitations:
    Currently there are only 2 maps and there is an encompassing fear of repetitiveness however my review remains a 9 due to saber already developing free and paid DLCs to add more content. If this game is the success it deserves to be, I can see them supporting it for years to come.    … Expand

    Sadly the game is unbalanced in favour of survivors when they have high level characters. If a team of 4 high level survivors play together there is no chance of winning for the demon player.     I tried some asymmetrical Multiplayer games before, like F13 or DBD and while they were quite fun, their clunky design and somewhat "lackluster" technical performance always dampened the overall experience for me.

    While Evil Dead The Game isn't perfect in any means, it's stabile performance graphics and connection wise shows its production quality.

    Juego cooperativo para sobrevivir con bastantes opciones y muy dinámico a la hora de combatir lootear(hay una gran cantidad de armas diferentes) mejorar e ir cumpliendo objetivos con la ayuda de las marcadas habilidades y mejoras de cada clase y sobre todo ,se respira Evil dead por todos los poros y muy divertido también jugar como demonio y hacer todo lo posible para entorpecer y hacerJuego cooperativo para sobrevivir con bastantes opciones y muy dinámico a la hora de combatir lootear(hay una gran cantidad de armas diferentes) mejorar e ir cumpliendo objetivos con la ayuda de las marcadas habilidades y mejoras de cada clase y sobre todo ,se respira Evil dead por todos los poros y muy divertido también jugar como demonio y hacer todo lo posible para entorpecer y hacer perder el tiempo a los supervivientes.

    Needs work, more like 8.5, beats the brakes off DBD and FT13th. Needs more maps, variety of content, and balancing on the single player missions. Fun as hell though, pretty balanced if your group sticks together.

    I give it two thumbs up! It's a fun twist on the asymmetrical horror type of game that anyone who is a fan of horror, Evil Dead or co-op games will absolutely love. It's an awesome love letter to Evil Dead and it's simply a great time.
    I don't really have much in terms of negatives to say, people are still learning how to play it so I can't be frustrated about that. I haven't encountered    I give it two thumbs up!     This is a great alternative to DBD. It gives both the survivors and the “killer” a greater diversity of gameplay options! The Evil Dead license is excellently represented here, no matter of your an existing or a new fan. I don’t see myself and my friends returning to DBD with this groovy alternative.

    The animations are complete trash. Speaking of animations, there are no animations when entering and exiting a vehicle. The players magically teleport inside the car seats instead. Are you freaking kidding me? I have played low quality mobile games where I can open the doors of my cars and get inside. This is a $40 2022 PS5 game. There is literally not a single excuse for these greedy developers to not program such a basic feature. Speaking of mobile games, the driving mechanics feel exactly like it was ported straight from a mobile game. It just goes to show how cheap and lazy these developers are. The missions are boring and repetitive. The multiplayer is atrocious.

    This game is online only. So once the developers decide to switch off the servers, this game will end up in the trash can. Charging $40 for a game with no offline modes is a scam. Did these developers not learn a single thing from the disaster that was Gran Turismo 7? I paid $40 for this trash, so I should be able to play the game whenever I want. If their garbage servers don't work, then I won't be able to play the game. It's pathetic how lazy these developers have gotten, to the point where they don't even want to make the singleplayer offline. I don't recommend this poor excuse of a game at all.    … Expand

    Phenomenal game. I hate these asymmetrical multiplayer games. But this one is special! Don’t listen to these low score user reviews that have no idea how to play it. Kind of comical reading these, haha.

    I am very pleased with the game, good graphics, bloody, very good sound with 3D headphones - and a very fun multiplayer experience. Single player seems very hard but it is fun.

I've never played Friday the 13th but I've seen gameplay to know that it's not for me and I've tried my hand at Dead By Daylight too just because I had it free on PS+ but I am not a fan of that game either. Evil Dead however is a **** blast. Can be very unfair and is an unbalancedNot perfect but out of all these horror based asymmetrical games, Evil Dead The Game has got to be the best. I do feel the repetitive nature of the mission gets tiresome, however I see this as a solid starting base.     Can't get enough of it! Heard some leaks about some dlc characters and an army of darkness map so I'm pumped for the future, hopefully Evil dead: Rise gets a release date soon!

    Very fun game to play whether thats solo or with friends. I thought the Friday the 13th was aweful and I find Dead by Daylight boring. This is great. The graphics/sound and gameplay are great!

    This new game will easily be my best of 2022. For us Evil dead fans, the constant references and fan service is hilarious and enjoyable. Overall the game feels very balanced and even when you lose, you still have fun. Indefinitely buy the game and watch the movies/show, your life will change forever.

    A beautiful love letter to the franchise, but more than than, an excellent game in its own right. More action packed than Dead by Daylight and far more entertaining and well paced than most other asymmetrical multiplayer games on the market, Evil Dead is a delightful romp with enough content and characters to keep you entertained for the foreseeable future.

    As a big evil dead fan this game ticks all the boxes. Graphics are beautiful and daunting, the sound and atmosphere is phenomenal and when you and your other survivers are working together the game really thrives.     An absolute blast. I actually am not a fan of asymmetrical multiplayer games at all. This is the first of its kind I have ever liked. I have some minor complaints, but I expect these things will be fixed within the first couple patches. I hope the devs give this game a lot of support, because I could see myself playing this with friends for years to come if they update it regularly.

    This is a great tribute to the movie saga. It has a style of gameplay similar to Dead By Daylight but it is much better in every way. The graphics and customization are exquisite, it is very pleasant to play. A must have in your game library!

    It seems like this game was made by people who truly love the Evil Dead franchise. Visuals and sounds are amazing, and do a great job replicating the Evil Dead aesthetic. Definitely worth $40, especially if you’re a fan of the franchise.

    Excellent game with a very addictive gameplay and very nice graphics. Solo missions are a nice addition though they can be frustrating. But the core of the game (asymetrical pvp) is incredibly fun.

    A genuinely fun combination of genres that keeps pulling me back in. Only thing I wish was that it’s progression system was faster, but the replayability has been a great counterpoint to that.

    Game is fun all round but there’s a few bugs here and there but most games have them on release. Not one moment where you stand there bored out of your mind. Constant action for both sides and I must say it’s way better than blinding someone with a flashlight and running away all game.

    The BEST asymmetrical horror game ever. I expected to see a lack luster too early to release mess on launch, but other than some visual glitches and npc patching errors, it was a complete game that already has new content in production. Dead by Daylight got stale after a few years, but Evil Dead: The Game will last for decades and, hopefully, longer.

The game design works of the principle of trying to be frustrating as possible, resulting the player is in a constant hoping for dopamine rush that can't be satisfied. If you have an additive personality this game will swallow your soul.

    Pros - As part of the Evil Dead franchise it does a great job of feeling like the films. The concept of going on a scavenger hunt while being stocked by demons is fun. The characters they chose to put in the game are iconic from the franchise. The locations on the map take you back to the movies as well.

    Cons - The leveling system seems like a great idea but match making doesn't reflect your level if your level one, there's a good chance you will go up vs a max level character that will have so many advantages you won't be able to do much. Your better off not doing anything the whole match and waiting for it to end so you can get some XP then trying at that point.

    There are places on the map were characters will get stuck and unable to move which is a death sentence to anyone surrounded by demons. There are lights in the game you need to light with matches to control your fear but sometimes they wont active unless you get your camera in game facing the exact point, this bug will screw your chances of living long. Getting backed into a corner will often get your collision detection on your character stuck on meshes of the map to making the combat more clunky and difficult.

    There isn't much single player options in the game nor much incentive for co op vs the AI it gives you scraps for XP. Losing a PVP match gives more XP then winning vs the AI so if you want to level your best bet is to be a jerk and do nothing the whole time in a PVP.

    Conclusion - I wish I could give it a better rating being a huge Evil Dead fan but the design choices and and bugs in the game make it hard to justify playing it to much. It can be a fun break from other games but the lack of good balanced match making make it a less of a complete game at the moment. I hope they address this in the future but seems like it would counter their design principle of creating a additional frustration loop in the minds of its player base.    … Expand
