    Bad-
The combat is absolutely mediocre at best. The performance is arguably the worst I have ever had on my PS5 ever. Sometimes frames dipped even into the single digits. Was basically slideshow territory. The story and characters are just so bland and uninteresting that I couldn't even really got wrapped into the story.

    Thoughts-
ELEX 2 is not a game that gives you a very good sense of purpose or even immediate goals at times, nor does it have a very interesting cast of characters or a particularly good story. Nor does it run very well or reward the player for trudging all of those issues in a way that feels proportional. Yet I can see why the uphill battle of getting much of anywhere and the perpetual mystery of what exactly you’re getting yourself into at any given time can add up to a genuine delight for the right players. There are undeniably some addicting loops to be found beneath the rubble, but not enough to make this a particularly recommendable game in a day and age where so many better iterations of this genre already exist. If this was simply a case of the game catering to a niche crowd and being “more about the journey than the destination” I could roll with that. But with mediocre-at-best combat, vanilla-at-best graphics and some staggeringly bad performance issues eating away at ELEX 2’s already limited appeal, I can’t help but advise those entering this version of Magalan to proceed with caution.

The open world feel only like a copy paste system witht e city begin the only real changing of scenes. Faction have been completely screw over, the adding of certain factions was definitely a great idea but making certain faction lose pretty much everything was the wrong direction, point of interest was the clerics what was a great faction to join thank to it psi ability which made you feel like a sith or jedi was dumb down to only 2 abilities that only give lifesaving factor that are really pointless. while keeping outlaw with the usual chem boosting. honestly that was the worst decision they ever made for a game that had great potential. Now moving on to combat system in elex one what made the combat fun was the fact that you could wield a weapon in one hand and magics or some such in the other, in elex 2 your force to equip magic in both honestly a huge mistake, when i was starting out i was thinking omg go alb equip chain lightning in left hand with sword in right woo sith lets go, then i learn nope two hand magic or nothing. moving on to armor honestly this is the worst out of everything, armor design feel like someone just put random piece together and said there we go there no in depth work to this at all and only armor that matter requires massive farming and grinding to the point that the game is already over and their no reason to care anymore. Overall this game is far worst then the original Elex and not worth your money or time, if you feel like play a good nordic game go pick up the original elex 1 or even the gothic series. Expand

I played until the end and mopped up every sidequest I came across (50+ hours). This game could have been great. I was intrigued by the the first game -which I played for about as long - but it feels like they haven't improved at all. Also, it feels like the storyline loses the plot often, and there is a lot of blatantly recycled content. Overall: "janky" doesn't even begin to describe it.

I would love to give this game a higher score but due to quite a few game bugs, I cannot. The world building done by pb is great, but the content of that world us not.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

On ps5 it doesn't work as expected. Sometime less than 20 FPS during fights. Entire story is quite nice but game simply is lagging all the time.

My suggestion: Wait for patches, don't waste money for that game now

The interesting game world is worth exploring, thanks in part to the many fun easter eggs and missions you get to choose from. The fact is that it is technically rather messy. For example, the game has quite a bit of screen tearing, frame drops and more. Also, the battles are stiff, making it all feel a bit shaky. If you know how to get past this, then the game is quite nice to play.

Elex II is an almost overwhelmingly ambitious and content-packed sequel that serves up more lands to explore, more people to interact with, and more choice and consequence to carefully consider. It has unavoidable rough edges in the technical and graphical departments that, for many raised on highly polished triple-AAA titles, won’t be easy to overlook, but in terms of providing freedom and reactivity that makes for truly engaging role-playing opportunities, it is a fun, satisfying package that few titles can measure up to, proving budget isn’t the be-all, end-all for a great RPG experience.

Even that's ultimately part of the charm of Elex II though, because it was a game made by RPG enthusiasts for RPG enthusiasts, and min-maxing is, ultimately, a big part of this community. Though the game comes across as an impenetrable club members-only experience at times, the creativity and energy behind it is impossible to deny. Frankly, I would rather play something like this, bugs and all, than something overproduced and so safe that it puts me to sleep.
