If the original was Hinoe rank, this one unquestionably earns its place among the Hashira.

It's the whopping number of characters now available in Versus mode that's the real draw, though.

In our opinion, The Hinokami Chronicles 2 is a very pleasant improvement on the first Kimetsu no Yaiba-based fighting game, although it still has some minor issues with performance and design. However, it's a good game for fans of the series, even if it's the one that should have been released in 2021.

The credit goes to the greater amount of source material available, which allowed CyberConnect2 to craft a much richer and more engaging Story Mode, bringing to the screen some truly impressive sequences from both a technical and artistic standpoint. Moreover, the game benefits from a series of improvements related to its structure and content, which appear significantly more substantial and compelling.

In Dragonball-esque fashion, CyberConnect2 and Arc System Works performed a fusion and managed to turn the tides! The majestic production values of Ufotable have been impressively mirrored, as this game delivers a multitude of breathtaking animations and of course – loads of flamboyancy! A solid battle system and plenty of content make this game a significant upgrade to the first. This one is for the fans.

The sequel greatly expands the cast, refines the exploration, narrative, and combat systems, and offers the best visuals the subgenre can currently achieve.

By having a healthier roster, slightly tweaked combat, and two of the best arcs in the whole series, The Hinokami Chronicles 2 still stands as a worthy sequel, and one that I hope is surpassed even more by the inevitable third game that has a hell of a lot of heavy lifting to do by finishing off the whole series.
