    One of the worst games I've played. I waited until directors cut because I've read it felt like a bit better in general, but is the same thing... First I don't doubt Kojima is a genius but he is giving a flying damn for the players, he doesn't care about playability. Long unnecessary cutscenes one after another after another. Kojima also don't pay attention on players choice, creating a videogame that is all about delivering packages, the story is kind of cool and I liked the begging of the game but since the point you see the entire game is all the same and repeat and repeat and repeat, you abandon it. If you continue, because the directors cut includes some extra cool features like a cannon or a telescopic rope (I don't remember the name) but it makes you shor the way between two points, then maybe you complete the main story. They release a game with a minimum of innovations at full price. Yes, any company for this would have been drowned in dislikes and 0/0 for a long time.     Là en gros il sont en train de nous vendre un DLC pour le prix d'un nouveau jeu. Et quand je vois ce que coute la mise à niveau du jeu avec le dlc quand on a déjà le jeu sur ps4, c'est encore plus honteux.
    Comment on peut accepter ça. Et quand je vois tout ceux qui mettent 18-19-20 pour ça, c'est pas normal sachant que c'est gratuit partout ailleurs ou juste quelques    Je suis pas content.

    After so many rave reviews, and being an older gamer who doesn't really get FPS games so much I was intrigued so much by Death Stranding. I went in with an open mind prepared for something different. I spent 16 hours or so waiting for the game to get good. It didn't.

    This game is absolute dross. It is so frustrating to play.     This game is absolute dross. It is so frustrating to play. The invisible enemies can suddenly appear and make you lose all your stuff, little glitches like having my bike be near the lake at the end of a mission and then is disappearing afterwards, and the fact that you sometimes can't save to try and work around these frustrations.

    Everyone talks about the story as being so amazing. I decided to watch the cutscenes for the game on YouTube after I gave up to see what I had missed, and wow it just made me so glad I gave up on it. I just cannot understand what people liked about it. As I watched someone clearly far better at the game and more experienced than me playing through the final scenes of the game I just felt this huge overwhelming relief that I hadn't wasted any more of my life on this.

    I saw the two sides of reviews going into this and as it so common on the internet it seems like it was impossible for people to have an objective and balanced middle ground so I was really curious to see what I thought for myself, but my conclusion is clear - from over 40 years of gaming on dozens of different platforms going back as far as loading games on cassette tape, Death Stranding is, without a doubt, the most overrated and frustrating tripe I have ever put effort into playing.    … Expand

    Played for 5 hrs, found the game lovely to look at but it's so boring and contrived.
    The game wants you to think its intelligent sci-fi, but it's really a hodgepodge of ideas that must have seemed interesting on paper, a sort of video game version of the movie annihilation.
    There are too many good games available to spend time with than this bloated rubbish.

    The director's cut adds a new area, a racetrack, some songs, a few missions and a few items. What caused them to think that this games ATROCIOUS driving warranted a race track I do not know. It is abhorrent. The new area (building and top of a hill) is beautiful but really is something that was cut out in order to sell back to us later on. Wait for the price to fall. It isnt 2deep4u.     First and foremost It is a walking sim. The presentation and actors are great and the world looks beautiful but there is very little actual gameplay fun to be had here. Hideos intentions are honourable verging on sickly but the point persists that video games must be fun and there is very little to be found in DS. This is exactly the kind of bloated movie with added game that konami canned him for. In no way is it acceptable to have to skip the same 4 cutscenes every time just to shower. I would urge players to note the amount of times they have thought 'just let me play the game'. And from past experience we know that games that do this lack gameplay - MGS4 for example. At this point Hideo should just go and make movies because the severe amount of bloated pointless garbage in this game renders gameplay an afterthought. It is charming: the cast are great and a few terrible lines aside its a fairly solid (sorry) story. But it is a lot less smart than it believes itself to be. It is everything questionable/bad about Hideos games and please note i am saying this as a fan of 20years and having completed DS and nearly Platinum'd it. It is blatant that Kojima has played and attempted to ripoff games like Journey and Firewatch. DS is a big budget faux-hollywood version of these games. Isolation is a theme throughout but upon beating the game it feels more like an excuse for foisting an empty world on us. I will never condone konamis practices but after experiencing DS i can understand why they kept tabs on the Kojimaisms in all the games hes released. This is not an MGS2-esque prophecy that will be relevant in a decade - it is a knee-jerk pander piece trying to cash in on modern political paranoia. What many will refuse to admit is that after making a series based on the Patriots system of control you spend DS building one yourself amid claims that it will 'bring da people togevur'. The formula for the gameplay we do get is 'Go from A to B dodging ghosts or humans - meet thank you hologram - rinse and repeat' and it is not good enough. I cannot tell you how many times my thumb ached from holding the same direction for minutes on end. A total lack of dynamism. It is honestly an amazon simulator and any majesty the world had evaporates when you can build roads through it. I have lost a lot of faith in my usual trusted reviewers because theyre calling this game a 9+/10 and that is nowhere near true.
    Hideo is a genius and the world sorely needs his games. But this is barely a game. I think we have reached the point where he should just go and make movies because this game is an afterthought attached to one.    … Expand

    I love open world games. I love good music and graphics I love Norman Reedus This however is the worst game I ever played. I honestly can’t get over how boring this game is.

Pero su jugabilidad es muy aburrida e insoportable… caminar las primeras horas del juego es una mierda no tienes como escaparte de los cv sin que lleven a la su mundo de petroleo o nose que carajos. Un juego patético para todo lo que podría ofrecer con su historia y audiovisual.

    I really liked graphics but gameplay is lame. Walk and always press L1/R1 not to fall down. Annoying and boring. One of the worst Sony games I've played.

    This is one of the worst games I’ve ever played. It’s not even a game, really. It’s a self-indulgent walking simulator wrapped in a nonsensical story with dialogue written by an idiot — who needs to be introduced to their own mother? — and not much more.

    Refunded the game. The added content doesn't fix any of the core issues of the game. Kojima has truly lost his touch and perhaps mind, just abandon this abomination called Death Stranding already and move on and make something new, hopefully an actual game this time.

    I prefer the original game. new equipments really ruined the game. there's no challenge anymore. you can just use your jetpack and come off a cliff. wtf

    Terrible! Complaints about the price tag and the fact that little has been added and chapters that do not particularly reveal the plot. And also about adding items that make the game very simple and deprives the charm of all the originally conceived gameplay (perhaps we are talking about a jetpack, because in reality it destroys the balance)

    Hideo Kojima is the most over-rated, all hype, developer in the industry, and this walking simulator proves he is also morbidly depressed and wants us, the audience, to feel his pain. I give it 1 star for starring Norman Reedus, although i feel sorry for him and hope it doesn't ruin his career.

    People will buy and enjoy anything that has Kojimas name on it. The stupid like system is basically just an insult saying this generation will do anything for likes. Not to mention nothing about the gameplay or story feels cohesive. It feels like Kojima wanted to see how weird and horrible he could make a game and his fans still eat it out of his hand.

    This was hands down one of the most miserable gaming experiences I’ve ever had. This game took me over 3 years to finish. The entire pandemic came & went in the time it took me to roll credits. Had the game’s setting not been mildly interesting to me I would’ve dropped this game after a few hours & forgot it existed like pretty much everybody else basically has. It’s not 100% bad but IThis was hands down one of the most miserable gaming experiences I’ve ever had. This game took me over 3 years to finish.     The few positives I do have pale in comparison to the positives in other games I’ve played in the last generation. The graphics are great, the sound design is immaculate, the music is really good, the online functions were pretty novel & the story FINALLY got interesting towards the end. I really loved how the Big 5 mass extinctions were incorporated because I’ve always found them so interesting to study up on. Glimpses of peak fiction don’t erase the misery I felt for 90% of this game though.
    In no universe should a game EVER take as long as Death Stranding does to “get good” like others have said. 10 hours my ASS. I didn’t rise from the coma this game put me into until the 25 hour mark, so should I have listened to my gut & uninstalled the game at the start of the 2nd area to watch the rest on YouTube? Yup! This game should have been 10-15 hours max. The walking simulator gameplay loop was the equivalent of watching paint dry for over 30 hours. The driving mechanics are god awful, I honestly think they’re worse than driving in the Mafia games. The majority of this game is just.. walking & making deliveries. If that’s what Kojima thought was good game design then I guess that’s his vision, but why did he have to subject it upon us? The middle of this game is the reason why I fell on & off this game for 3 years straight & if you played this “game” you know which sections I’m referring to. I know humanity sucks but I don’t think we deserved this level of punishment. After an intriguing opening section, the story just stagnates for 15 hours straight. I would’ve had more fun cleaning bedpans at a nursing home. Call me an old man but weren't video games meant to be FUN? This product just OOZES that Kojima pretentiousness in its direction & writing & it’s so damn insufferable a lot of the time. We get it Kojima, you’re sooo artsy fartsy. Nobody cares. Stop wasting my time & money & stop making games that are way too far up their own asses. Even the gunplay sucked! I could see this game being tolerable on PC with some crazy mods though. I really can’t stress how well over half this game should have been scrapped to make a more streamlined experience that maybe would have reviewed better & sold better instead of the convoluted mess we got. I’m shocked that this game is getting a sequel but I hope it’s actually able to BE a game instead of a walking simulator tv show, this coming from someone who ended up mildly enjoying the story & is a fan of story focused games in general. Once the sequel is done huffing it’s own farts like glue, at least the story can maybe go into some interesting places given where things left off? All I know is that I’ll be catching DS2 on YouTube, not with a controller in my hand. Just go listen to the soundtrack & watch a recap on YouTube & you’ll be fine skipping this one. The game has an amazing soundtrack that can make traversing this boring world relaxing and fun. Even these moments are short lived and happened only 3 times during my whole 15 hours of gameplay.     There is a reason why this is the only "Strand type" game. I dont know why any one would want to play a literal delivery man sim.

    But on the positive side the game looks amazing the acting and motion capture is also very good and I was interested in the story but the gameplay is so unbearable I just couldn't finish it.

    Oynarken aşırı sıkıldım, zevk almadım ve bıraktım. Sırf Kojima yaptı diye bu kadar sevildi sanırım, başka birisi yapsaydı şuan düşük bir skora bakıyor olurduk büyük ihtimalle.

    Director's Cut is by far the best way to experience Kojima’s latest game. However, if you’ve already played Death Stranding and you’re considering buying the new edition just for the added content, better sleep on it. [12/2021, p.78]

    Death Stranding: Director’s Cut is a solid remaster with smart upgrades that build upon the original release without taking away from what made it a unique experience. The game itself has a lot to say and some of it is genuinely compelling, however, the pacing is abhorrent and the core gameplay is a deadly pill made out of tedium and boredom, that I really wish I hadn’t swallowed. Let’s hope I’m a Repatriate.

    Whether the 4k60 frames or the powerful features of DualSense, the experience of Death Stranding: Director's Cut has been taken to another level. With this Director's Cut, there will be some new feelings when going through the "journey of connection" again.
