    Dead Island 2 despite the development issues satisfies the zombie itch effectively. A very self aware game that doesn't try to be anything its not. Very fun time especially with friends.

    I thought this was a blast! 'Hell-A' is depicted in a brilliantly dark and cynical light. The graphics are gorgeous, the musical score is great. Yes the gameplay loop is somewhat monotonous, but what is does, it does very well. Slaying zombies has never felt better, with the weapons feeling weighty and satisfying. The guns could do with a little more kick to them, and maybe someI thought this was a blast! 'Hell-A' is depicted in a brilliantly dark and cynical light. Slaying zombies has never felt better, with the weapons feeling weighty and satisfying. The guns could do with a little more kick to them, and maybe some aim-assistance, though. The progression system is simple but sufficient, allowing you to focus on what really matters. You can easily stick to the main story, or venture out and complete optional side missions. Everything is nicely balanced. There are six characters to choose from and each one has their own entire dialogue recorded. Skills cards allow you to customise your approach. There are a couple of annoyances, such as med-kits not replenishing when you die and restart a check-point. Enemy variety is good, and the environment provides different ways to use elemental damage to your advantage, providing a tactical and strategic component to an otherwise straightforward, brutal gore-fest. I understand that this may not 're-invent the wheel,' but I personally feel it's almost perfect in what it does, and deserves extra credit given the development hell it's been through, having changed studios during production so many times. This game could have easily not existed. But I'm so glad it does. An absolute treat. Must play.… Expand

The combat is engaging and the world itself is doused in breathtaking vistas, that have been sprayed with blood and viscera. The story and side content are entertaining in their own right. The story has its intriguing moments and additions to the lore of the franchise, but it serves more so as a vessel to takeThis game epitomises the fun nature of gratuitous first person zombie slaughter. The story has its intriguing moments and additions to the lore of the franchise, but it serves more so as a vessel to take you all around HELL-A. The side quests take you to myriad of locales, helping... distinct characters. All in all, the means in which the story is told is palatable, and serves its aforementioned purpose.
    The skill deck allows for constant variety in play style, enabling the player to tweak their abilities how they see fit. Each character distinguishes themselves enough that if you enjoy the core gameplay, an additional play through with another Slayer would be incentivised. The weapon modding system adds great detail and variety to the already stellar decimation of the walking dead. At times, zombies come at you en-masse, and I cannot properly describe the satisfaction in dismantling a horde of the undead in such visceral fashion, a feeling in which many other games of this ilk cannot replicate, in my opinion.
    For a game that languished in development for over a decade, Dead Island 2 is a confident yet subdued title, that wows with its grand moments of sheer destruction, whilst utilising linearity in its world design to hone in on and develop its game systems to great effects. While games such as Duke Nukem Forever show that a long and difficult development period can destroy a game at its core and hamper the overall experience, Dead Island 2 is a shining example that, if given the time and resources, a passionate team can deliver not only a fun game, but on that sits atop its genre, proud that it overcame the greatest of obstacles.    … Expand

    So, finally, it's here and it's a great game even more. I did a pre-order and didn't regret it cause game trailers and flow are self-explanatory. I enjoy it so much that I can lose time playing it. It definitely green light wherever your options are.

    The game came out as good as possible. If we take a note about 9 year of Development Hell. Developers put so much love and effort in this game, so I can’t just the rate lover than 8, even tho game have some problems, even big problems. But I understand why this happened. Story in coop game never gets players attention, and working on that part is mostly not good idea. And the core of Dead Island is stylish zombie slaughtering, with modded weapons that look and hit hard. And the game goes with it well, even better then DI1/Riptide.
    I liked the F.L.E.S.H. System, it’s like, wow, never seen that weapons did so much damage, and that accurate in any game.    … Expand

    Its dead island 1 but ten times better, I had a blast all the way through and never got bored of butchering zombies. I'm clueless to why so many are hating on this game it is honestly great. Its just below dying light 1 as my favourite zombie games out there, it is constant gory fun and was the greatness that dying light 2 should of been.

    After nearly 12h of gaming, After waiting for more than 10 years for the game, it's disgusting, but in the better way it could be. The story has a good start, the game is really immersive, the flesh is flying with each hit of my banoi baseball souvenir bat... It was really worth the waiting. Can't wait for each session of gaming this masterpiece.

    Just finished the main story and have enjoyed it from start to finish. The graphics are some of the best out on ps5 at the moment and the performance matched it. No bugs through my 25hr play through which is a rarity these days. If you're into zombie slaying games you can't go wrong with this 1 and the skill cards add a unique spin on things. Definitely recommend this game

    All this game is about , is killing and while you're doing it you can do it in very dıfferent ways and It is still pure fun so you probably won't get bored. Well in my gameplay there wasn't a lot of bugs or glitches not even a few actually except one but Idk about the Other players so I'm more than happy about it. About the story , I believe that the Idea is really old for 2023. A zombie slayer game with different ways but Its pure fun so I was not bored during the gameplay , plus the main story isn't that long so even before you get bored the story probably will end.(Its not satisfying for a game like this) Other than that there is not much to talk about Crafting , skill tree's , modifiable weapons, etc(pretty much everything that kind of game includes) but of course there are some new stuff and upper version of the thing we've seen before. I think this game disappointed everyone a little bit especially when it comes to story but yet It is so fun to play definitely more than playable. So If you're looking for a good few hours to waste in your free time you should definitely play this game.… Expand

    Vraiment cool c'est un bon jeu que je recommande mais je trouve qu'il manque des choses comme un mode online en plus du coop également un monde 100% ouvert ainsi que améliorer le scénario je le trouve trop classique sinon le jeu et vraiment cool

    Esto no es un juego de 10, más bien de 11, puede que a algunas personas les parezca malo debido a que no están tan acostumbrados a este tipo de juegos pero, el juego no se trata de verse serio y con una historia envolvente, si no que se enfoca en que el gameplay sea increíblemente brutal, creeme, a mí no me molesta matar mi R2 cuando se trata de este juego, brutal, excelentes gráficos, yEsto no es un juego de 10, más bien de 11, puede que a algunas personas les parezca malo debido a que no están tan acostumbrados a este tipo de juegos pero, el juego no se trata de verse serio y con una historia envolvente, si no que se enfoca en que el gameplay sea increíblemente brutal, creeme, a mí no me molesta matar mi R2 cuando se trata de este juego, brutal, excelentes gráficos, y demasiado, en serio, demasiado divertido con amigos, en este caso, DEAD ISLAND 2 ESTA RECOMENDADO AL 100%… Expand

    I can't understand the negative reviews that say the game is, "repetitive and boring as well as riddled with bugs." I see this in ALOT of game reviews. It's almost like saying having to drink water over and over every day makes my whole life suck. It doesn't make any sense. The game is a blast to play and I don't ever get the feeling of unsatisfaction. It's almost like saying having to drink water over and over every day makes my whole life suck. It doesn't make any sense. The game is a blast to play and I don't ever get the feeling of unsatisfaction. I mean if you think about it with repetitive and boring logic guiding your enjoyment any game that uses a hand gun would fit into this category. Well seen it boring, dumb. Hmmm you have to swing the pipe like a bat, seen it, boring and dumb. I also see people complaining that you can't drive any of the cars. I'm left wondering, walking around town how many cars are unlocked with the keys in them waiting to be driven anyway? Not to mention 80% of them are visibly broken down. All the while people are stuck on repetitive and boring completely overlooking how much fun it was to bash in said former car owners head with a metal pipe or cut it clean off with a machete. Another thing I see mentioned is that the quests are generic, well then. Fetch, kill, talk to. Are these people wanting quests where you have to perform heart surgery, then Lasix, followed up by completely overhauling and rebuilding a 1930's pickup truck? It's a zombie killing game...you kill zombies. It looks gorgeous, destroying zombies is heavy and satisfying, and its not so overly complicated that everything you do invalidates the main premise. The game doesn't take itself to seriously, maybe nobody else should either, because it's a blast to play! Oh and on the topic of bugs... people must spend the energy needed to enjoy the game looking for them. I've been playing quite a while and haven't noticed any. But then again I didn't spend money on this game only to focus on revealing every single minute thing that could ever possibly happen to me in the realm of bugs. I'll admit there are games out there that are buggy but when you are 5 of 100 reviews that has such game breaking bugs that it turns the game into literal "garbage" it makes me wonder which variable is indeed glitching out. Not to mention these bugs are so prolific that people don't even bother to tell you what they are...maybe, just maybe, it's because, wait for it...there arent...any?… Expand

    Many will argue that there aren't enough enemy types, or that the weapon upgrades that underpin it all seem as if they came out of a decades-old game. And they'd be right. This is a game that follows a simple template. But it does so in a confessed way, and in the end the authors didn't promise anything beyond mindless and fun zombie slaughter. [Issue#327]

    We've had a pretty great time messing up some zombies in Hell-A. Dead Island 2 doesn't shoot for the stars, and therefore ends up neither overpromising nor under-delivering, so if you liked the first game you're pretty certain to have a fun time here.
