    Excellent and absolutely brutal multiplayer combat. Ignore the low score reviews on here. They seem to be troll reviews. If you want bloody, chaotic sword fights, this is the game.

    Some crashes and black screens, bugs with fonts in interfaces, lack of game mechanics, weak customization , poor information of weapon ( you can’t see pros and cons only price), have to unlock twice the same weapon for both fraction ( different only color - red and blue), no duels, no ranked.     Chivalry 2 Is great is it for me? No, I got bored of it fairly quickly.. but for those really into hand to hand combat nd roll playing, this game is great.     Chivalry 2 is basically for honor except just knights… you choose red team or blue team and then youre off into a 64 player or 40 player battle for control over a castle.. youll be defending or attacking, using on of 4 different classes, all with their own special perks, such as the knight being able to heal your team, or the archer being able to shoot fire arrows… I had a blast for my first couple hours of this game…
    The combat here is very deep like that of for honnor, so if you dont like for honor, youre not gonna like this game.. .. its not very casual friendly.. you have to learn how to block and parry, time your attcks… this is a game that demands you master it to have any amount of fun…
    to be able to pick off other players as they surround you like sharks.. this is where Chivalry shines and youll be getting most of your enjoyment from.. testing yourself.
    My biggest complaint with Chivalry is that I feel like there is no rhyme or reason to anything.. no team strategy.. it really does just feel like run into battle and kill everyone while trying not to get killed, defend these positions or take these positons before time runs out… I did enjoy doing goofy bttle cries, running right to my death, but this joy wore off on me pretty quickly..
    Where Chivalry 2 got some of my joy back was in its free for all mode.. I felt like a god among knights in this mode, just slicing through everyone like warm butter as we all raced to be the first to 35 kills in an arena.. at least that’s what the game says.. but the matches definitely go beyong the first to 35…
    Overal Chivalry 2 cant quite get its hooks in me the way for Honor did… maybe the lack of modes… the lack of feeling like im doing anyything to contribute to my teams victories or losses…
    But I can appreciate the care put into this game and I can see the role players out there losing months to this game.

    So fun playing this on PS5 against other console and PC players. Can definitely hold my own again PC users playing with the PS5 controller. Having a blast with the game, the castle sieges are epic!

    Let's start with the good things. The combat is fun, the gore is amazing, and the visuals and details in the maps is done very well. I like how you can pick up and throw many things, and the ragdoll mechanics is hilarious...and in a good way. The sound effects match up well during combat, and the game is over all and enjoyable experience to play with friends. Gameplay and combat canLet's start with the good things.     Chivalry 1 created a brand new genre. Chivalry 2 perfected it. The gameplay loop is fantastic, the graphics are marvelous, the maps are phenomenal in terms of design and aesthetic, the sounds are superb, and the game is just down right fun. It's cross-platform so you can enjoy it with all of your friends. As a new player you can do well, but as you play more you understand how theChivalry 1 created a brand new genre. Chivalry 2 perfected it. The gameplay loop is fantastic, the graphics are marvelous, the maps are phenomenal in terms of design and aesthetic, the sounds are superb, and the game is just down right fun. It's cross-platform so you can enjoy it with all of your friends. As a new player you can do well, but as you play more you understand how the different mechanics can give you an edge - easy to learn and get into, takes time to hone your skill. 10/10 might be the best game that has come out in 2021 thus far.… Expand

    Genuinely not sure how there are "critics" rating this as a 9 or a 10. So it's as good as Zelda, or Witcher 3, or God of War, is it? This game is average. I commend it for being different. However, after a few hours of the same thing, the experience quickly becomes stale. There is no ranked matchmaking meaning that new players are thrown in with experienced players and this can beGenuinely not sure how there are "critics" rating this as a 9 or a 10. The mechanic of 'swinging your waist' with the R-stick just doesn't work for me. But my most significant criticism is the fact that you always end up causing more damage to your own players than to the enemy. You're swinging a long axe in a semi-circle, in a crowded group of players, and whoever gets hit, gets hit. It's utter chaos. I appreciate the game is supposed to be light-hearted and tongue-in-cheek, but this just reduces the skills element. There are rarely any tense, one-on-one fights and there is always somebody in the way of your intended target. I got it for free on PS Plus, so won't complain too much. But I wouldn't recommend buying this for any amount of money. Worth a couple of hours of mindless fun, but it's not something that will have players coming back for years to come.… Expand

    It's okay but it seriously needs some work on the interface. The customisation menu is terrible and doesn't show any of the subclasses. It's impossible to know just from this menu what weapons you can even use. Don't think I can be bothered playing this game anymore unless it gets fixed.

    The audio in the game makes it near unplayable. It could be quite imersive and fun if it wasn't for hearing the same individual voice fake screaming all the time. Seriously. Work on your audio! Would not recommend!

    the gameplay is horrible, the hit boxes are big asf no point of blocking because you'll just get jumped by like 7 people at once, you're better off playing an mmo. save your money.

    Fun game but an unbalanced mess. The best melee weapon in the game takes 2 heavy hits to kill but a headshot from a bow is 1 shot? Sometimes spawn times can be up to 15 secs when you’re 1 min away from the obj and it only lasts for 10 minutes. They started limiting the number of archer because that’s all anyone wants to be :(

    Pleasantly surprised with this game. It finds that sweet spot of stupid action that you want to charge back into and a semi-complex that allows for satisfaction when you land a move just right. I say semi-complex because while it’s decently refined and balanced, you will find moments where it just feels ridiculous every 5-10 minutes. For example the blocking system feels pretty solid untilPleasantly surprised with this game. It finds that sweet spot of stupid action that you want to charge back into and a semi-complex that allows for satisfaction when you land a move just right. I say semi-complex because while it’s decently refined and balanced, you will find moments where it just feels ridiculous every 5-10 minutes. For example the blocking system feels pretty solid until you see one person being swarmed by three other enemies and somehow managing to block all incoming attacks. It’s easy to overlook those moments because generally it’s a lot of fun with a lot of gameplay variety. The classes feel very different, the weapons feel very different, and the maps have a nice variety of objectives to keep things fun. Once you try the game you’ll know what I mean, it’s just stupid fun, but there is a lot of technique to it. Even when you’re getting destroyed, it’s still fun. The graphics are surprisingly solid, the sound is good enough, the progression system exists (and is super confusing). I don’t think this is a game you can play for years, but you’ll easily get several weeks of fun out of it. It really takes me back to the old competitive online games with minimal story from the early 2000s. There is a bit of fun to be had.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Decent game that is decent fun. At least the developer is trying something new. This is basically a massive multiplayer like Star Wars Battlefront with Medieval weapons. That’s all there is too it.

    The graphics and gameplay are all fine. The game does not look as good as a Star Wars Battelfront game but it does looks better than a free to play game like Planetfall. Kudos for going bright and cheery. Gameplay is some mix of hack and slash. I would remap the buttons but no matter, you can get by with good positioning and stabbing from a distance. A good player will use blocking, turning, and good timing to take out lots of noobs. I will never get past noob level. The control scheme is serviceable for noob purposes. The game has enough humor to make dying and walking back to the front less of a chore.

    Matchmaking is fast and maybe that is only true while the game is popular. Full disclosure: I downloaded Chivalry II because it is a PS Plus monthly game. Sometimes a game will take off when it goes “free”. This could be one of them.

    My issue with the game other than lack of a campaign is the intrusion of an in-game store. You can earn currency by playing the game you already bought or buy currency on PSN. Some players wield wicked looking swords. Are these more powerful? Not sure. The menus make no sense. I don’t know why developers make their games so hard for people to play.

    All-in-all, there is only so much game here. The game is fun to an extent. I personally never enjoyed canon fodder games that much. Still, I’d you want a giant Medieval battle, there is not other game like Chivalry 2.    … Expand

    Good concept, but it's not beginner friendly at all. There doesn't seem to he any kind of match making, therefore, as a low level player you have to compete with and against high level players. The interface is catastrophic. No previews on certain items or voices. Controlls aren't intuitive at all For me not fun at all. I regret this purchase.

    I don't know why every medieval-themed game must be overly difficult, complicated, and unfriendly towards new players. It is quite annoying when you try to hit someone you accidentally hit your teammates and during the heat of battle, it is hard to distinguish who is on your team and who is not. The graphics are nice but the gameplay is a bit clunky

    Great fun with mates. Sword play/combat is very good and intuitive with room for skill growth. Bit low on content but that is reflected in the price.

    Its had some teething issues. Worst issue is not being able to connect with my friend who is on PS4 and I'm on PS5. I have to download the PS4 version just to get into a game with him and it wipes my whole loadout.

    If you like combat games this is your type of games! The game involves combat all the time, and there’s a lot to learn but once you get the basic this is a really fun and quality game! I’ve had the most fun playing this in 2021:)

    It's like COD in a medieval enviroment. Crisp and nice graphics and fun game mechanics. Love bashing guys with swords and axes choppin off heads and limbs.

I have a feeling it is very young stage of the game and should give like 5-6 but maaan ... It is so addictive.     I don't like online shooters (been there and done that) or most online multiplayer games to be honest. However, Chivalry 2's slow and strategic combat is both easy to pick up and hard to master. 64-player battles with siege weapons and objectives are just amazing. I absolutely adore this game. Beautiful on PS5 and I just can't get enough of it. 9/10

    Game has game breaking bugs, I have to keep closing app to fix, and it won't search for games at times. I own this game on PC and it doesn't have as much issues.

    A year in to Chiv and well… Incredible game, for the longest time I’ve been totally bored with gaming, chivalry 2 has completely renewed by enthusiasm. It’s incredibly addictive, light hearted and easy to pick up and jump right in. My absolute favourite game and the devs are doing a great job with the additional content.

    A lot of bugs. It's constantly crushes. Playing together with friend on PS4 is a painful process. 1 hour trying to connect to play 10 minutes and not always in one team. It automatically switch between cross-platform game even I've turned it off.

    Total waste of time and money.

    Dead on consoles due to obligated crossplay with PC players. If you turn off crossplay you wouldn't find any games or servers.

    I wanted to like this game, but I've never been so frustrated in my life. Attacking enemies from behind only for them to block you with their backswing while not even facing you is one of the most rage-inducing things I've ever experienced in a video game. This game seems like it has a really complex and nuanced combat system but really it's trash and is janky as hell. The maps are pretty neat and vibrant looking, there's lots of gore as you would expect of a medieval game, and there's lots of options of weapons to use in each map to cause mayhem with. One thing I enjoy doing is launching myself from catapults into the enemy to surprise them.

    Chivalry 2 takes some cues to make the sword and shield combat feel a touch more accessible. I feel it's for the better with a fairly decent tutorial leading you right into the fighting. Whilst it can feel daunting, I've seen myself contributing to battles very quickly. The combat is deep with an importance on positioning and timing. It is slightly undermined by trying to keep the players together but, even if duels are harder to come by, the chaos of a full battlefield is hard to ignore. It's fascinating, fun and fluid.

    Pressure mounts thanks to player counts – 64 players at the top end, with 40-plus in other modes (and a huge free-for-all mode too). Neat DualSense features add pleasant friction, like your p guard being harder to use the less stamina you have. Not every map and mode is a winner, but it looks fab and is fun, with a nice sense of humour. [Issue#3, p.155]
