Call of the Sea has plenty to offer puzzle and walking sim fans alike. The story kept me going even when the puzzles felt difficult and excessive. The puzzles can be tough and seem unfair at times, but overall feel very solid in how they were crafted. The conclusion to the story of Nora, her illness, the previous expedition, and the true nature of the island left a satisfying feeling once I had completed it.

Call of the Sea puts all its eggs into its puzzles. They're fun to solve and feel as rewarding as slaying a boss in some of the most difficult games. The mysterious island Norah explores is gorgeous and full of mysteries that even Nathan Drake would appreciate. It's just a shame that its narrative is such a letdown. Norah may be the main character but I think Harry's adventure would have made a more compelling narrative.

Call of the Sea is a beautiful adventure, and the first thing that will draw you in is undeniably the gorgeous visuals. The gameplay may not be perfect and the story may be a one-time experience, but the game still is worth a playthrough. The atmosphere of the game is an engaging one, though it will make you feel as safe as a baby in a cradle. If you are a fan of the Lovecraftian universe though, you might leave disappointed. The game lacks all the heavy and tormenting atmosphere that made famous the works of the American author. Call of the Sea remains an adventure game that will be enjoyed by the fans of this genre.

Call of the Sea is a case of great plot, beautiful surroundings, mixed puzzles. Some puzzles require such leaps of logic that you may struggle to progress. Despite that, this is worthy.

What we saw as we sailed by was delightful, but not quite enough to make us want to drop anchor for long. Chart for exploration at your own discretion. [Issue#2, p.82]

Aesthetically, the game looks really pretty and is totally evocative of its 1930s setting. The game is plagued with hammy dialogue that makes it feel totally campy and like an old B-movie, but not altogether terrible when coupled with the Lovecraftian influence it draws on. Call of the Sea is a mostly fun puzzle game that falls short on the mystery it tries to have you unveil. While it looks aesthetically pleasing and ticks a lot of boxes for its period setting, the story is lacklustre and predictable.

The"Call of the Sea" has also become a great game on the Sony console and can directly score with the two new versions for collectors. The storyline and the charming characters are simply good and create an excellent atmosphere with the atmospheric graphics and the excellent sound. In addition, there are also complex puzzles and tasks to solve. Give the game a chance and you won't be disappointed. Small problems will surely be solved with enem patch. Full Review »

In theCall of the sea is a sample of a nice but quite unbalanced game. For me first quarter of the game was way better than the rest. In the beginning you get very nice looking environment, interesting story, mystery, good shaped world with different details and interesting puzzles. But after that you get more and more bizarre unrealistic story, puzzles become confusing, weird and even illogical sometimes. I had to look for walkthroughs on youtube to understand what devs wanted from me in last chapters and i was very disappointed with that. I can recommend this game only if you are a big fan of puzzle adventure game, in other case you won't lose much skipping this title. Full Review »

Similar to point-and-click puzzle systems, there’s a wide enough variety and especially deep enough difficulty curves during later chapters to quality as more than just a narrative adventure. While the voice acting can certainly be overbearing and campy, it really contributes to the Lovecraftian atmosphere the game is striving for. This is honestly one of my favourite indie games of all time. It was the first game I ever bought immediately after trying it on game pass. I just ordered to import a physical version of a PS5 copy because it was such an incredible experience. I really think it deserves a higher rating and I’m looking forward to what the studio can bring in the future if they keep exploring this genre. Full Review »
