And also no wonder weapon. The multiplayer is that exact same as modern warfare 2019 if not worse. And the campaign is boring, incredibly short, and terrible story and story telling since the entire thing is a flashback of stories we won’t care about.… Expand

    This game by no means is great. It's ok at best and definitely the worst of the three. The story mode, so far, isn't half bad. The characters are compelling enough to keep playing through even though it seems PC at times. It's nothing fantastic and pleases through narrative but who plays COD for the story mode. It may be fun at first playing with some friends but overall is very repetitive and becomes tiresome quickly. Last you have multiplayer. There's nothing that really stands out on multiplayer. Most of the levels are ok at best. The weapons are nothing to be excited about. Some are way overpowered and need to be nerfed. The killstreaks can be a pain. The worst part of all is dealing with constant hackers and cheaters. Almost every other match you're bombarded against a team who can easily shoot through walls and kill everyone while you're cornered at your spawn point. There needs to be better presence in banning these individuals. Hopefully when they launch their new cheating system, it will help out. Another annoyance is the long after game summary and voting system. It takes up too much time and seems unnecessary plus you can not back out during it. Overall the game is ok. Nothing spectacular. There is still plenty to be fixed and hopefully improved on if they want to keep people playing.… Expand

    I downloaded it on Christmas Day. I didn't start to play it until this week. I was shocked how poor the graphics were on the xbox one. It literally looks like a 360 game. It plays like it also. The plane handling is garbage. How could a AAA game get it that wrong? The campaign plays like Battlefield 1. (groups of small stories).     disappointing short campaign with more movies than gameplay with crap characters and the multiplayer has regressed and actually gotten worse a blatant excuse to level up low level variety of guns that you have for warzone this call of duty provides nothing absolutely nothing literally nothing
    both Cod Vanguard and Battlefield 2042 are equally barebones unifinished and absolutely shiate

    The worst COD by far, especially storywise. Not one thing this iteration does better than any cods before it. Been buying them every year but this one left such a horrible aftertaste in my mouth than I'm just gonna skip the next couple of them unless they fire the people who made and wrote this garbage.

    Another year another call of duty which people review bomb just because they think it’s funny or trendy to do so. I played Cold War and I enjoyed it although it was one of the weaker entries in the series and the maps left much to be desired I still found hours of enjoyment.     This brings me to Vanguard first I wanna talk about the campaign which to me is one of the strongest campaigns out of all the cods Something that makes it really stand out is the cutscenes it really feels like you’re watching a movie and it’s animated so so nice and the characters for once aren’t just robots they actually feel like real humans or at least people that you can enjoy and that you get to know their different personalities what more is there to say it’s got a big set pieces with the crazy over the top stance is chest a lot of fun again.

    Now to the multiplayer I don’t I did enjoy Cold War this feels like an even better step in the right direction everyone really enjoyed modern warfare 2019 for me the problem was the maps were so boring and bland but in Vanguard there’s 16 maps to start with and for King of the Hill maps and each map feels individual fun with lots of different routes to take. Now the gun play is great again brilliant animations lots of variety it took me a while to found find a gun i can slay with but I did in the end and racking up kill streaks is great One big new addition is the new ways to play you can even play as the original 6-6 or 8-8 or 10-10 The last one is absolute chaos but also a lot of fun

    The one issue I have so far with the multiplayer is That I have run into quite a few bugs

    And then you have zombies and that’s it it’s the most barebones zombies they’ve done The best way to describe it it feels like a tech demo of what zombies are and that’s the reason it’s not getting a higher score    … Expand

    Call of duty vanguard is by far the worst call of duty to release ever it's extreamly unbalanced the maps are designed poorly with to many of the same path ways and just the way they are set up the operators looks like the they are some the reject versions of the dirty dozen they don't even look like WW2 soldiers

    Call of Duty Vanguard is my favorite Call of Duty in a long time. It has great storytelling, and great characters. I wish it was a little longer, but I did play on the easiest setting. I probably had 5-6 hours of gameplay. I only played the single player campaign.

    I played the PC version with everything maxed out at 4K, and my frame rate remained well above 60fps. I played on a    Call of Duty Vanguard is my favorite Call of Duty in a long time. It has great storytelling, and great characters. I wish it was a little longer, but I did play on the easiest setting. I probably had 5-6 hours of gameplay. I only played the single player campaign.

    I played the PC version with everything maxed out at 4K, and my frame rate remained well above 60fps. I played on a 10700k and RTX 3090. This is a beautiful game with a lot of heart. If you liked the original COD games, you’ll most likely love playing this one.

    Sound is awesome, some of the guns don’t have as much punch as others, but I felt like the sound was well done.

    For goodness sake, what is it with these videogame developers being so obsessed with making a bunch of military games set in World War II and even the first World War? Enough already. Most people that will buy this game don't even know the Big Three Allies and its leaders of World War II, let alone when the war took place. This just goes to show how out of touch these developers are with their audience. People who love books would be interested in World War, not gamers. If they are going to make another World War game, then at least be historically accurate. They couldn't even get that right, which begs the question why couldn't they just make the game about a fictional war in modern setting? And just like any other modern big budget videogame studio, the developers added woke SJW trash in the game.

    The multiplayer is beyond horrible. The maps are so poorly designed. The spawn points are pathetic. The zombies mode is easily the worst zombie mode I have ever played in a Call of Duty game. The mode is objective-based rather than round-based. It lacks challenge compared to previous installments. You can't even pause in zombies mode when you are playing solo. The physics are poor and the AI is incredibly stupid. I don't recommend this game at all.    … Expand

    Beautiful graphics and extremely well made cutscenes in single player, very fun. Multiplayer is okay, but you wont get anything better anyway in 2021, because Battlefield will be absolute fail. There's a chance that Halo will be good, but that's for next month.

    Big thank you to Sledgehammer Games for making so fun and enjoyable campaign. I wasn't sold by trailers, but i watched some youtube videos of other people playing it and having fun, that was enough for me to buy it.

I’ve had games where I was literally the only one landing enough shots in a row to get a scorestreak, because if you die, you lose whatever kills you had accumulated towards it. Cold War’s was way better
    -horrible map designs. Some maps are way too big and some way too small for the different pacings. It should be limited to whichever pacing it was designed for. 6v6 on Red Star is just plan horrible. The designs of Das House or just plain bad. Just to give a few examples.
    -TTK is way too fast.
    -I personally don’t care about SBMM so I’ll leave that out of my review
    -some challenges for camos are just dumb - point blank range for snipers?!?
    -everyone gets the same operators, even your enemies, so that gets confusing really fast.
    -unlocking operators is tedious and boring.

    The multiplayer is really great. When i first played i was killed from everywhere because i did not know the maps. The maps are mostly fantastic. There are like 3 maps i do not enjoy playing on. and 2 that are meh. But there are still 12 maps which are absolutly amazing to play on: Espacially the pacific map. The one we did not play in the beta.

If it's fun and well made, then what's the issue? This one is very solid, both single player and multiplayer. BF doesn't even have single player and multiplayer seems to be absolute fail.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I dont know what has been happening with games recently but they all seem to have the same theme of shoehorning modernday politics into them.
    A game set in the 1940s and the main character is calling the nazis racist... in a time when the WHOLE WORLD WAS RACIST!!! Yeh it was bad but it was considered normal back in those days. Anyways one of the missions you play as Arthur Kingsley ( the black guy on the front cover) and you land behind enemy lines with a bunch of other British paratroopers ...who then instantly all decide to make Arthur squad leader...WHICH WOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED!!! so straight away the immersion of it being a ww2 game has already been broken. Yes it was bad how black people were treat back then but it happened and people need to stop trying to cover it up.
    This stage is just one of many which all follow similar patterns

    Next you have the dirty muddy graphics which also shows up blurry most of the time. Yeah I can see they were trying to give the game atmosphere of WW2 but making your graphics ugly doesn't make it gritty like how World at war was . The first mission is the worst as you cant even see much because of how blended and mushed together the graphics are combined with the weather effects .

    Next is the online, theres alot wrong with it but I will call out the obvious
    Theres only 1 team and it's the allies, you cant play as the bad guys like you could in every other call of duty because they were too scared to add the Nazi faction into it so yet again the immersion has been broken, especially when the people you are killing are playing as the same character as you. Owh and they added in a lesbian operator ...in the 1940s, she would of been lynched by her own team....also it's the only character where it mentions her sexuality which is weird. This entire game seems to be someone's fan fiction

    Other than those issues the gunplay is fun and the gun sound effects are amazing, map level design is ok but there's the obvious problem of spawning on the enemy team. I have nothing else good to say about it    … Expand

    Not a bad game overall. But the story mode is short and really not worth playing through more than once. Zombies is at its worst here, literally no fun to be had with this mode. And while multiplayer has gotten better gameplay and machanic wise, overpowered guns, lag, bad hit detection and poor map design makes it ulmost unplayable. Wait for a steep sale on this one.

    Vanguard has more positives than negatives however the negatives definitely do hinder the experience The campaign was great, though I felt like its level design could be better than some of the political aspects felt weird considering it was a WW2 game. The characters were likable and the gore definitely helped the tone of the game. What they have is solid but it's super half-baked and feels wrong given that there is no round based. The balancing, especially with new special enemies, is horrific as maxed automatic guns end up useless by wave 15. Overall, if you like MP and a solid campaign recommend this game. If you want a good zombies experience, wait for a free weekend or play the old games you're not missing much.… Expand

    Finally after so many low ratings I can give a solid 9 to a game (which turns into a 10 as here it's only zeroes and tens).
    Graphics, animations, facial expressions, story, gunfight honestly I liked all of it. Very very enjoyable the game, pretty much the only one that feels next-gen so far. Highly recommended to anyone that liked Modern Warfare series.

    I have played MW, ColdWar and now Vanguard. Personally, I wasn't a big fan of Coldwar because the mutiplayer was unplayable for me. SBMM was too strong. I've been playing for 15 hours now and the game is good. The engine is smooth, the graphics are good, and the overall gameplay is good. The opposing team is mixed with good but also bad players, feels like mw2.

I can literally feel BF fanboys salt right now, because they know that BF2042 is buggy and lacks content and they just can't stand the fact that Vanguard turned out to be that good.

    They simply don't like the inclusive characters and are review bombing. Clearly not a low scoring game.

    The game itself has 20 great maps for a near flawless multiplayer.

    The campaign is really good also.

    There is a generous amount of content.

Because this leads onto the important question why wasn't this just released a stand alone campaign? £24.99. It would lose them a lot of money, but it'd be the sensible thing to do for people who don't wanna play the multiplayer and the "zombies". Don't worry since this trick was pulled with the previous COD and i knew it'd happen again. I'm not giving them money, this is from boomerang rentals.

    So you've downloaded the campaign, can you play? no I'm sorry it's not all in one download, you have to download each pack before you can even start to play the campaign (I'm not kidding). So it loses another point.

    So you start in 1945, yes it's one of those games trying to be clever but failing it because we've seen plenty of media formats copy the same thing. I half expected a record to be scratched somewhere in this half hearted attempt for a first level. Lots of rain and a little buggy I had almost all my allied soldiers avoid shooting the Germans. As i stood on the train being shot at, I realised it was from the other train just behind where my allies were standing looking forward ignoring the German firing. I back tracked and sure enough 2 feet behind my allies a German soldier was firing at me. Not at them. Hilarious stuff. Yes this is the obligatory train level, so generic it only highlights what you're about to experience.

    Graphically it doesn't really stand out. Nothing that again made me think "I'm glad I have a PS5 for this". The sound seems copied from the previous COD game set in WW2 (2017). I wouldn't even be surprised if that was the case. honestly. Also like Aloy, if you spot yellow you can climb it.

    Can it be any more generic, yes. actually. Your first mission, as I've said is from 1945 and you're joined up with mix of various nationalities from Australians to Russians. Which is mostly just fantasy. Although the SOE did exist (so something factual still finds its way there). None of the characters are interesting; they're walking stereotypes. They even throw in racial slurs and to be honest it's just cringeworthy. They were probably going for "bold" and "insightful" but it feels tacky. it all feels forced (like a Russian in the SOE; pure fantasy). There's also 2 British soldiers among the 6, and you know that's not going to last. diversity laws and all. I'd have liked another female (French resistance) that'd have made more sense.

    Just always surprises me that you are all captured, and then the game follows the same tropes (back in time we go record scratches freeze frame).. the same formula (whether it's taking guns on a cliff face, or taking pillboxes on a ridge). There's nothing innovative here, nothing ground breaking. It's a shame. A lot of it is so disjointed and badly written. Honestly the caricature Nazi's should not have fallen for the terrible acting they do. It feels like a 12 year old wrote it for creative writing homework. You can tell Americans wrote it, the Australian uses "British" during "acting" when they mean the English. Scots and Irish shake their heads. Master - servant huh

    I can talk about the terrible implementation for example during the battle of midway as you're dealing with Japanese aircraft, if you go anymore than 100 metres away from a specific area you get the warning "return to mission" as a Japanese plane passes you by going towards that area. There's just so much technically and fundamentally wrong, it fails as a single player ww2 experience. Learn all these things about the plane which you'll never use. Hell EA's star wars squadrons did it better than this... attempt. But hey you wanna play a game where you can magically avoid all battleship gunfire and make 20 enemy planes disappear, just fly into the clouds. Don't worry more magically appear several miles later. The realism is off the scale (if you get a belly wound [cutscene] it doesn't magically heal). just drama for the sake of badly written cutscene worthy of a razzie award. (It also doesn't give you supernatural "focus" abilities! but sure enough in this game; it does! i feel every anime blushing at this nonsense)

    COD now feels stale. If you're just playing the campaign do not pay for this. Just rent it or borrow it or something. And unless you really like Zombies and Multiplayer that you can't get from a previous COD game or the current version. It's not worthy of your time.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is bankrupt of any kind of creativity. All of the characters common from a specific war stereotype. Polina had a good story, but the overall mission was quite predictable and her father dying wasn’t really much of a surprise to me. However the rest of the campaign is terrible, story wise. Arthur is in my opinion, a shallow character and the stereotypical leader. Worse is the scripted events and cutscenes. I felt like I was watching the game instead of playing it, and sometimes scripted events occurred (the instant when polina shot the German flamethrower dude in the back and set him ablaze, and the grenade thing in the last mission). Overall, the story is filled with cliches, and by the end I was happy it was over. Multilayer is WORSE than the campaign. The time to kill is essentially the equivalent to COD ghosts time to kill, and the maps just make you act like a chicken with your head cut off, just searching for kills. Worse, killstreaks like the dog suck, insta killing the player, and you never know when the dog come because it sometimes comes right behind you. Gun play is okay, but the progression actual sucks. the team MVP is terrible, and it’s clear the devs simply recycled animations because they were too lazy. Don’t even get me started on zombies. Treyarch was put in charge of creating the mode, and they screwed it up big time. Reminding you this was the same studio that created the mode and what I is, and they screwed up. I can’t believe how bad it is. For anyone wishing to pick this game up, do not. It is essentially an insult to the gamer community, and a cash grab. The game is overpriced and worthless. In fact, this game makes COD WW2 look like a better experience.… Expand

    Call of Duty: Vanguard is a great Call of Duty entry with absolutely stellar ser pieces, fantastic visuals, and plenty of modes surrounding an excellently fun campaign. The only downsides are the muddied stories… not to mention what is happening in the company that published it. Highly recommended for CoD fans and people looking for a bit of mindless fun set in WW2.

    Even though the campaign is extremely predictable and the multiplayer is plagued with tones of issues, Call Of Duty: Vanguard is, after all, still a Call of Duty title, and will appeal to all hardcore Call of Duty fans.
