    Story is solid, zombies are my favorite ever or at least amongst the best. MP is where it falls short and by a lot.

    Кампанія коротка, але непогана, щоправда не вартує взагалі тих грошей, які хоче за неї Activision. Функціонал Dual Sense порадував, але не щось supernatural. Знаючи можливості контролера, впевнений, що навантаження на тріггери можна було зробити значно крутіше наприклад для тих самих кулеметів. Тут трігери плюс-мінус однаковий резіст дають по всім видам зброї (відрзняється, але практичноКампанія коротка, але непогана, щоправда не вартує взагалі тих грошей, які хоче за неї Activision. Єдине, що реально розчаровує окрім короткості кампанії це ідіотизм, що сягає апогею в деяких місіях. Я не очікую від колди багато реалізму, але 2 агенти які прокрадаються (початок доволі цікавий насправді) в штаб-квартиру КГБ і буквально розйобують її зсередини, вбивши при цьому добрих дві-три сотні росіян (приємно звучить до речі), й це під час Холодної війни, коли напруга на абсолюті, чи це розпочало реальну війну? звісно ні, росіяни мабуть подумали що це якісь бомжі, а не американці і тому вдали що непомітили такий невеличкий ексцес. Дуже помітно що виникло багато чудових ідей, які реально можуть освіжити перегрітий тир, але всі вони померли десь серед сотень кранчів розробників і в гру лишились відверто сирими.… Expand

    Surprisingly decent for a call of duty game. Maps weren't too bad, really fast paced combat in multiplayer, solid campaign with two endings. Pretty good for a cod game

    I'm am comparing cold war to black ops 4, because I only care abot treyarch when it comes to call of duty. The game is about 200gigs without the campaign so it took me a while to download it with my 10mbit internet, but that's not the game's problem. Multiplayer is fun, there are plenty of weapons to choose from and all maps are unlocked no season pass needed. The only problem is that itI'm am comparing cold war to black ops 4, because I only care abot treyarch when it comes to call of duty. The only problem is that it won't keep you playing, other than a few basic weapon skins, you won't get any rewards by simply playing the game and spending the briefcases on legendary cosmetics and weapons... You will have to buy everything with call of duty points which i wll not give money for. Sure there are weapon blueprints that you can unlock every second prestige, but they make no sense to me, when you can customize the weapons anyways... Zombies is boring this time, unlike it was in black ops 4. There were exciting maps and could be prestige mastered easily by solo playing it with bots, but this time it's confusing, and too hard alone... Also there is a glitch that always shows you lvl1 when you start up the game, and you will have to complete a multiplayer match to see what level you really are, and they won't fix it for months now...… Expand

    Why is the Campaign the last thing to download and thats after 1 TB is downloaded of all the stuff I didn"t want to play. Took me 3 hrs to get the Campaign running and what a let down. But then the game begins and on the PS5 this game looks stunning and plays incredible. The story is very good but too short.     The only reason I got this game is because my cousins asked me to join them in Zombie and Multiplayer games, but other than that I found the campaign to be so generic and boring, there is nothing special about it's story other than it being a rehashed surfaced level fantasy of war without any actual heart or real research.     Unfinished and glitchy. Splitscreen barely works on online, and can't even split on Zombies. Feeling like a massive downgrade from Modern Warfare so far...

    Black Ops Cold War has an interesting campaign, with nostalgic characters and side missions that required your brain (yes your brain in a CoD game) to unlock by doing decryption puzzles. Moreover, they nailed that Cold War vibe in the campaign. However, campaign these days for CoD seem to be more of an afterthought, which is a shame as I grew up with playing through the campaigns of mostBlack Ops Cold War has an interesting campaign, with nostalgic characters and side missions that required your brain (yes your brain in a CoD game) to unlock by doing decryption puzzles. Moreover, they nailed that Cold War vibe in the campaign. However, campaign these days for CoD seem to be more of an afterthought, which is a shame as I grew up with playing through the campaigns of most CoDs. This one I felt was too short and not as uninteresting compared to the previous instalments like OG MW and BOPs1.

    Multiplayer lacks solid map design with only 2 maps that are actually enjoyable to play on. However, most maps are extremely campy? with way too much cover and players can blend to the terrain making it almost impossible to see them. The biggest downfall is the matchmaking in the MP, if you play good it will match you with really good players and if you play bad it will match you with not so good players. Making it hard to play consistently on a casual playlist and this type of match-making should be used in a ranked playlist. They need to change this ASAP. The plus side of MP is the gun customisation with it being extremely detailed, being able to see the complex stats of your gun make it easier and fun to customise to suit your playstyle.

    I really enjoyed this instalment's take on zombies and it is really refreshing to play in my opinion. With new enemy types and the main map being really fun to play on. I have not sunk as much hours on zombies mode as much as MP, however I do plan to play it a lot more.

    Briefly, the game occasionally crashes which is really a let-down and I have read articles of the game ruining the hardware of PS5s, which makes me extremely nervous to play it sometimes. Personally, I would recommend waiting for a sale on this one and also until they fix the crashing and the match-making issues.    … Expand

The multiplayer maps for the most part are solid and the visuals on maps like Miami are beautiful. Zombies sticks to the core values that made it a fan favorite while adding tasteful additions on how to upgrade armor, weaponry, and lethals.

Instead of casually playing the game - you will have an amazing three game run then have to sweat out the next 3 playing against MLGs. Weapon progression is sloth-like slow. I am prestige 1 and still have not maxed out a gun, granted I switch up between 3 or 4 weapons. Snipers are useless as they nerfed the **** out of them because of whiny cry babies. There are definitely bugs even tho I haven't come across many. The main bugs I'm having are with Zombies matchmaking.

    Too clunky and strange. Coming from modern warfare this feels old. All the movements feel old. Campaign is really nice and fun but the multiplayer just seems trash compared to modern warfare.

Not only that but there are reports of skill based aim assist. This is truly disgusting. The guns in the game feel plastic and nowhere as good as MW2019.     Painfully average, a great campaign and a fairly interesting zombies mode are not enough to distract you from how terrible the multiplayer is. The multiplayer forces you onto boring maps and either fills your game with terrible players or the best of the bunch, it's borderline impossible to sit down and casually enjoy Cold War, and for an arcade shooter like Call of Duty, that's a major problem.

    Bought modern warfare and this one at the same time. Finished modern warfare first and then started this one. This one is ok, but the mechanics are not as fun, the campaign is pretty bland so far. Feels less real, and more arcadey, in modern warfare I really felt I was there clearing room by room. I'm just not feeling this one

    The Bad:
    -Skill based matchmaking ruins this game. Games go from fun enjoyable times to boring slogs or complete sweaty matches where you have to try really hard. It flip flops constantly and can leave a person feeling mixed, or just tired of playing really quickly.

    -The Multiplayer maps are mostly all bad. Raid, Express, and Nuketown are fine, but every other map is either too big, confusing, or gives me eye strain. The maps when looking at them from a distance mesh weirdly, and as a result you'll have issues finding people which will eventually lead to you being shot by someone you couldn't see(this happens a lot).

    -It takes a long time to find zombie games, and even when you do they usually don't last long whether its because of a ragequit, people not working together, or the next issue im bringing up:

    -Connection issues. Yep this game still has them. I've been disconnected from games multiple times, even a SOLO GAME. My internet is working perfectly fine, so its confusing that call of duty after many years of release still fails to improve upon its connect, and suffer from host migrations as well.

    -The game asks for a lot in many different areas. It's 190 gb big, which is absurd even by triple A standards, its 10 dollars more than the industry standard(70 dollars), and it asks you to buy a battle bass to get tier rewards. Everything feels incredibly grindy and it just isn't fun.

    The Ugly:
    -The game runs incredibly choppy at times, even on a PS5(Which is supposed to be the big next gen console), prepare for random frame drops, they'll show up eventually.

    -CoD Points.

    -Prop Hunt is worse now, it seems more heavily favored for the hunters, as the movement as a prop can be sluggish.

    -Familiar characters such as Woods and Mason in the campaign have different voice actors that don't really sell it for me, and Wood's dialogue infamously said some stupid thing about an Onion.

    -The plot twist at the end of the campaign is pretty obvious.

    Overall this game is a trashfire. It doesn't deserve your money, its a boring slog, and I can't see any reason to pick it over other fps games out right now. Not even the good campaign can save this one.

    I really want to sit down and ask few questions to the people who made the story, ask them things like what they were going for and what message, are they trying to put out if any. I get a few hints in mind. And if it's true I think it's really bad for this game series. The multiplayer can be fun while keeping with the games theme and even giving you an introductory cutscene just it starting up to add to the set theme, but particularly in the multiplayer I don't like the animations in this game. I don't know if it's because I've been spoiled with the motion capture from on MW and there feel for realistic looking

    How the mighty have fallen - Cold war takes a step back in every conceivable way (the campaign being decent is it's saving grace). The multiplayer feels like it was a port from a game made 10 years ago and skill-based matchmaking seems to be intensified. But when everyone would play on them like they were meant to almost every map would be a banger, so it's mostly the players' fault.     The last thing I ever wanted from CoD series is realism - the only reason I buy CoD is that it's casual fast paced arcady shooter, so I consider Cold War being huge improvement(to me every single CoD is masterpiece compared to last year MW). It's fast paced, maps are better(but not perfect), perks are more balanced, TTK is little bit slower(but still quite fast), there is just 1 land mine with long CD, game actually has some colors, camping is not the only way to play and it can be countered. It's CoD again and not Insurgency clone made for CoD haters and realism seekers. First 10 hours I had flawless experience - it reminded me times of BO1 and BO2 which are my most favorite CoD games. I wanted to go for 8+ rating but then thick skill based matchmaking kicked in and it ruined my experience with game little bit(and little bit more). Hard campers and sweats started to often fill my lobbies again(but at least whole game is not designed only for them). There should be casual playlist with weak or none SBMM and ranked with this kind of SBMM with ranks and extra rewards. Also on some maps there are flashing textures(sand on Satelite, mountains on Cartel). This was not happening on beta. There are also small bugs here and there like unlockable calling cards are not saved when you pick them. Another problem is lack of 6v6 maps on release so for now its like 6.5/10 for me untill everything is fixed. After that and when they add more maps it would be like 7.5/10. If they add also ranked and nerf SBMM in casual playlist I would go even for 8.5/10 easily. No performance problems at all on my side, runs exactly as MW (i7-7700k+1080Ti), 80-100 fps 1440p maxed out(tested MP only)

    EDIT: Changed rating from 7 to 2 just because of SBMM... It's not objective but I just can't do this anymore. I like game itself in general (much more than MW) but I absolutely refuse to sweat each and every single game to my maximum potential just to keep 1,2+ k/d in CASUAL playlist. I am not ranked player in any game - I HATE e-sport and ranked tryhard-meta trend, only reason I was playing COD was because it's casual MP game and it's not anymore. Game offers absolutely no choice in this matter, no ranked vs quick match playlist, there is only ranked without rank. Burn in hell for ruining this casual MP series and otherwise good game with system like this. I hope at least Battlefield will never give up on completly random server list system... I always liked COD more but this is just unbearable. Game itself decide who and when will do well or terrible in each match, not player skill. You had 2 good matches? Bad for you, next 2 you will be annihilated... You suck in 2 matches? Well, here is your candy - you will be rewarded with some easy game next.     I'm so tired of how bad the casting is for these games. The voices are silly and the movement acting, or whatever they do for CGI is serious crap and not authentic looking. It looks like a joke.

    Some of the voices sound like a cartoon and it completely takes away form the vibe of the game. It's getting on my nerves.

The colors just lack the proper contrast and this leads to a loss of detail and variation. Looking at the guns themselves they look like they are from Black opps 2 graphicly. They just lack some of the sharper depth and angles and color contrast. This doesnt feel 4k at all.
    Now lets get to the real goods the bugs. they are small little bugs that are everywhere and its little things that should have been caught like respawn times not counting down and audio foot steps not subsiding when you quit walking. well i guess the audio is a big one The whole audio is broken you cant hear anything until the dude is on top of you and the sound that you make feels like its outrageous. I'm giving it a one because it does bring some more interesting dynamic maps especially in the ground war area of scale. It also has a new game mode which is like a mini royal game called dirty bomb that's actually pretty fun and of course zombies. The fact that there is exfill and zombies as a whole feel way more immersive with set endings to the game or being able to continue on. Its fresh with a hint of nostalgia I'm actually liking that.     There are way too many bugs in this game on the PS5 Version. I still can´t play the campaing because of those error codes! Hope it gets fixed on 7.December Update! The only good thing is the Zombie Mode wich has just 1 (!!!) Map. Way to less content...

I remember when you could play this game without have to really try and the majority of the time I would do good (around 2.0KD), but now since activison wants everyone to lose some weight they make me have to sweat for like three weeks straight as soon as I do ok in this game (get 350+ SPM and 1.5+ KD). Its a pretty good one but the important part is the multiplayer. Skill Based matchmaking is gonna destroy your gaming experience, you still get trash items for free and you have to oay for decent items like kill animations operatir or cool sruff like weapon variants. The new weapons can be unlocked by challenges but the challenges take wayyyy more time. Its basically like a bad mobile game, with the diffeemce that its developed by Activison and made by a Tripple A studio. I never played Zombie Mode so i cant tell something about it. The time to kill someone is Ridicialouse. You cant kill someone when hes pre aiming because he gets you faster than you can react. Its a game for noobs. In addition, why do you let me choose my name and character attributes if I have no voice? Too cheap for voice actors? Don't give me options then. Who cares what I look like? Can't see me. The grenade indicator doesn't show up half the time and then suddenly I'm blown up. No explanation for my deaths. My campaign teammates constantly run out in front of me while shooting or run right out where I've pitched a grenade, and then I'm penalized back to the start of the section for friendly fire. Clearly the AI was made my interns. May just be me but the bullets don't seem particularly accurate. Definitely cheaped out on the collectibles and the whole game feels rushed and cheap. I only paid $40 for cross gen edition and I feel like that was a rip off. I am not even sure I'll even finish the game. Wish I had bought a disc version so I could sell it today.… Expand

    Just... downloads! The campaign takes as long to download as it takes to finish. Even if you purchase the disc version you have tho download the campaign! In three parts. There different down load for textures. Separate downloads for multi-player, splitscreen, and more to play zombies. Utter crap!

    Call of duty campaigns have become notoriously linear and with that, notoriously repetitive, and whilst they cannot be compared to massive open world games, the lack of progress in moving away from the linear storyline has really started to frustrate me over the last few years. The campaign was a good mix of everything you'd come to expect with a Call of Duty game - Lots of shooting, lots of blowing up and slow motion carnage.

    On the negative side for the campaign, upon progression to the final mission I am literally on the edge of my seat with excitement. I'm pausing the game and telling my partner (who isn't a gamer) in excrutiating detail what's just happened and why it's so awesome. At the time, I'm considering it one of the top Call of Duty campaigns and I'm ready to see what happens next. I press "X" in eager anticipation........ and the credits roll.

    For those who have experienced this ending, they'll understand that the game ends just as we've got to the most exciting part. It feels unfinished, but at the same time doesn't end on any type of cliffhanger... The game was oustanding, but I was just left a bit unfulfilled. Hard to explain.

    Zombies for me is a no-go. I'm a 30 year old guy who doesn't have a massive amount of time on his hands, I want to go into a game that'll last 30 to an hour at a time. My mates have spent entire nights on Zombies. May be for some people, but definitely not for me, but I realise that this is down to circumstances so haven't actually included this in my review.

    Now for the (extremely) bad. Multiplayer is nothing short of a mess. Modern Warfare was extremely slow, but they've literally gone from the slowest call of duty, to one of the fastest I can remember. The only saving grace is that they've not included the verticality of the previous exo-suit versions, meaning that you know everyone is going to be 'ground-level'.

    However, the speed in which players move is just outrageous and the main reason I'm writing this review. You barely get a chance to see anyone and they've sprinted rings around you and wiped you out. Again, I realise I may be getting old and maybe the reactions might not be where they used to, but it's really not what I expect from a modern day CoD game.

    Time to kill is increased, making the above issue even worse. Add both of these factors to cross-play, and what you have is an extensive advantage for PC players who with the much quicker movement, give me no chance in being able to track them and get a shot off, never mind actually kill them.

    There have been a number of occassions where I have been shot by someone directly infront of me, and I mean literally standing in front of me (as shown by the kill cam). However I don't even get a chance to see them. Having recorded my gameplay, on several of these occassions the player hasn't even shown on my screen. As other players have said, what a horrendous buggy mess.

    The gameplay of multiplayer is the type of level that will prevent me buying a CoD game in the future. The bugs are pretty outrageous for a AAA title, however I can appreciate with Covid some of these will have slipped through the net in the way that we all have to work from home, developers will be no different.

    Essentially, Cold War is essentially half a capaign and a weapon expansion pack for Warzone to me. The one star is for how good the campaign was, but the rest is a total mess.    … Expand

The only good thing that this game have is zombie and even that is still **** First, it takes you more than 5-10min to find a zombie lobby and even then when you start you have a 50% chance of getting disconnected either from the game for going to long or losing connection to the host for no reason. Oh and lets not also mention the spawning and respawning of the zombie and boss zombie which can practically teleport all over the map and if you happen to miss or just stand for like 1 second to where one of the teleport location is you just get one shoted by the boss out of nowhere as they can just teleport to your location if you get too far which mind you is probably just a short run away.     MP is a huge step back from previous Black Ops games. All design choices favour campers and headglitchers... In the past it was easy to punish these types of players but this new game punishes rushing and quick game play... The maps are designed for you to hide and wait, footsteps are way too loud, the screens shake too much when you run and the sprint out time is ridiculously alow

Despite the opening statement this game doesn’t do everything wrong but the issues listed above make the game legitimately painful to play. I have been playing this franchise since the original modern warfare and to see the steady decline of this franchise is heartbreaking. Black ops Cold War is COD at its lowest point. It’s criminal that activision and treyarch expect people to pay 60-70$ for a game that seems like it’s still in beta. If you are a casual player that average to above average at call of duty, a person that can use their thumbs, or a person that would like a casual call of duty experience, I urge you to not buy this game. I can almost guarantee that within 2-3 hours you WILL NOT BE HAVING FUN solely due to the skill based matchmaking.     Multiplayer

    The worst part of this game is it’s multiplayer, broken at launch for PC, crashed and even bricked a few new gen consoles, bad servers. The guns and the TTK (time to kill). All the guns seem well balanced on the MP side (Not Warzone as of now) of Cold War with a few exceptions of tactical rifles, it seems these tactical rifles are always broken at launch the same with BO4s. The TTK is absolutely abysmal. Constant kill trading kill and die, kill and die, barely able to hit constant feeds. Scorestreaks only seem to be the biggest feed worthy use. Scorestreak system is absolutely spoon feeding the bad children and slow dads who can get their streaks when they don’t deserve it. None are great most are bad. Of course perks are broken, Flak Jacket is the only first perk ran because you’ll never die to explosions if you have it on. Others are there but nothing astonishing, wildcards are ass period and busted, perk greed gives you the ability to run 6 perks with no repercussions whatsoever, OP. Horrible spawns on map, launched with only 6 6v6 maps and 2 12v12 maps and they’re all pretty cheese. God awful leveling system and weapon leveling as well as camo grinding. Slow and methodical boring and un-awarding attachments barely help you in all honesty, you could do just the same with no attachments. SBMM we already know how bad that is, not for COD public matches leave that in ranked (Which doesn’t exist as of now). The new bundles they’ve released with cosmetics have more flavor and character than the whole MP mode combined (I can see where the priorities are) loads of other stuff just not even worth listing, would be nitpicking at that point.     Just ruined my the integration from MW to Cold War. Bust Cold War meta weapons, bad UIX, garbage leveling. Still playable and obviously Activision money whale with all the F2P payers buying bundles.

    Zombies

    Probably the only redeeming quality of this game, ditching all that over complicated bullsh*t we’ve seen in the past couple of BO titles. Very good for casuals to enjoy, great lore and story so far for the hardcore fans. Quite sad to see no additional content drop for season 1 other than some sorry ass Christmas mode that’s over all just a paint over with some small tweaks. This is what most people enjoy about CW and they’re already put the zombies underwater with the lack of care.

    This review isn’t obviously the best but these are just my gripes with the game. Some find positives in the game where I can’t just see it. Obviously others have their own opinion but I just see a huge step backwards this year in comparison to last. C19 didn’t help either but there were developer woes way before this pandemic, Sledgehammer lost the show and it was given to Raven and Treyarch because it’s sledgehammer and we all know how they are. Thanking them for the cancerous micro transaction system known as supply drops.    … Expand

    Thankfully, a few of the early bugs were ironed out of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and subsequent season passes have patched up modes and maps that were lacking. The campaign is genuinely intriguing but may not appeal to those who just want to run and gun. Zombies and Multiplayer modes are plentiful and there should be something for everyone to thoroughly enjoy. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War should be used as the poster child for PlayStation 5's DualSense controller which has been put to full use for an immersive experience. Casual players will be somewhat put off by the sheer storage space required to fully experience everything that is on offer, especially given that SSD capacity is this generation's gold dust, but Call of Duty die-hards will most likely overlook this.

    I have no doubt that the latest Call of Duty will earn ridiculous amounts of money once again, but I will remember it as a dip in form, a game that’s closer to mediocrity than greatness. The story campaign has a satisfying finale but as a whole is rather uninspired, while the multiplayer has lost the tactical feel I enjoyed in Modern Warfare Remastered. [01/2021, p.56]

    Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is the video game equivalent to that one kid in class with a sugar rush and an addiction to pixie sticks. Sure, it might be entertaining for a little while, but the more time you spend with it, the more you realize it’s just rambling on aimlessly. Ultimately, with its lack of a clear vision and focus on what makes a game fun, Cold War isn’t going to entertain you for long.
