    Got it free as part of a ps5 bundle (the only way to get a ps5 currently it seems). It is apparent that with every passing year they charge you more and sell you less of a game. It is unfinished and STILL suffers from the same issues COD has always suffered with. Connection issues that make it more a battle of internet providers than of skill etc etc etc. A game that sells as much as CODGot it free as part of a ps5 bundle (the only way to get a ps5 currently it seems). It is apparent that with every passing year they charge you more and sell you less of a game. It is unfinished and STILL suffers from the same issues COD has always suffered with. Connection issues that make it more a battle of internet providers than of skill etc etc etc. A game that sells as much as COD shouldnt have these problems. It certainly should not be released unfinished. If call of effing duty is allowed to release unfinished then gaming is in deep trouble. Stop buying these games. Stop supporting it.     Just so BAD! I literally only play nuke town and zombies because it's just so **** Now I don't play it at all the game is so boring. Players jumping in the air to avoid being shot WTF is this game.

    all I got to say is **** SBMM and the optimization for PC and some of the consoles. I remember when you could play this game without have to really try and the majority of the time I would do good (around 2.0KD), but now since activison wants everyone to lose some weight they make me have to sweat for like three weeks straight as soon as I do ok in this game (get 350+ SPM and 1.5+ KD). Itsall I got to say is **** SBMM and the optimization for PC and some of the consoles. LASTLY all I got to say is MP5, like I love the gun but I mean what's with infinity ward and Treyarch getting a massive hard-on for that gun. I mean just look at the beta..., but anyways I guess the game has room to improve but for now I can't play it, just gonna play cyberpunk and wait for RAID to come out.… Expand

    The Zombie Mode is great! Haven't played the story but no one cares about it anyways. Now to the multiplayer. It was great for 1 week, the gameplay is fast-paced and most of the maps are nice too. EVERYONE was camping on the roofs and in the houses and you could do literally nothing about it because everyone is playing sniper-shotgun and is pre-aiming and even pre-firing like a little **** And it's almost as bad as this in almost every map in the game. Checkmate, Express, Satellite, Apocalypse, Zoo, Echelon, Rush, WMD and Garrison are also played like this by most of the players. The only maps i constantly had fun on are Cartel, Miami, Moscow, Raid, Diesel, Hijacked and Deprogramm. But when everyone would play on them like they were meant to almost every map would be a banger, so it's mostly the players' fault. So if you want to waste money and have fun for one week then i would recommend it. Otherwise just buy BO 4 it's better in almost every aspect.… Expand

    The game is awful. Gameplay, AI, it's just insulting how bad it is. The campaign is shorter than ever.
    It's impossible to play multiplayer, the connections and the dc's amount are tremendous.
    For them to ship a game like this is tells how much respect they have for their audience.
    Don't waste your money.

    This is just so bad. The story on the campaign is great, but the general gameplay is awful, seems like a bad mobile game with bad everything.
    Multiplayer modes are hideous, no TDM, no nice maps, and of course, no anti-cheat, because they make millions with these games but cant even invest in a god anti-cheat. The game is full of cheaters and it started in the beta!

    This game is complete utter trash. There are so many glitches in this game. I thought they would polish this game but it was unstable as was modern warfare. I am disappointed by this.

    Speaking off internet being required, this game requires 285 GB. You would think with that insane amount of GB, we would be seeing a very advanced game. The campaign is too short. The gameplay lacks innovation and it still feels like it is running in the exact same engine as the PS2 Call of Dutys. The developers were to lazy to compress their game. Also, this is a $70 PS5 game. I fail to see anything in this game that screams next gen. There are too many frame rate drops on the campaign.

    The AI is incredibly stupid in this game. The multiplayer is complete trash and it is exactly the same trash as Black Ops 4. All they did was give us some trash maps. This game lacks so much polish. It is full of bugs and glitches. I don't recommend this game at all.    … Expand

    I really want to sit down and ask few questions to the people who made the story, ask them things like what they were going for and what message, are they trying to put out if any. I get a few hints in mind. And if it's true I think it's really bad for this game series. The multiplayer can be fun while keeping with the games theme and even giving you an introductory cutscene just it starting up to add to the set theme, but particularly in the multiplayer I don't like the animations in this game. I don't know if it's because I've been spoiled with the motion capture from on MW and there feel for realistic looking
    but fast gameplay they went for. But if I go play Black Ops 3 zombies for some reason I like the animations better. I have a theory that it cold war uses the game engine from Black Ops 4, and I didn't like how that game felt, and a lot of people didn't, as I've heard. As I was playing through the campaign i was thinking about this the whole time but didn't want to admit it but I'm going to admit it.... The reason why they called Black ops and why Hudson woods and Mason are in the game.. they pulled a Disney...you know like other new Star wars movie had all the old characters in it but they were not themselves and we're not involved in the main plot? Basically what they did it feels it me... Little throwbacks here and there but they pulled a Disney it feels like..... Maybe that's why they didn't cast the original voice actor for woods, he probably would have been pissed off like mark hamill was with Luke in The last Jedi. Look... nostalgia....is a good powerful, almost like a drug for the brain, and it helps give a happy feeling, a lot of people loved the original characters and there were bits of them in Black Ops 4, but it seemed like there was a trick for using nostalgia in a way to buy the characters, or the game. what I'm saying is like I tried to explain earlier I feel like they made a "Disney clickbait". If the original crew were not teased in the trailers in this game then not called Black Ops. I don't think it wouldn't have been as popular and I don't think much people would have bought it if it wasn't for them being in the game. They're nothing like themselves, of course they may not sound like them, but from what I know they could have got woods his voice actor easily but they didn't, and for some reason they got a guy who sounds like he's trying to sound like the previous voice actor.... why? I understand that their previous title did not go so well (Black Ops 4). But to bring back, beloved characters from the dead, so to speak, just to have the nostalgia feeling kickin so people would buy your game, then for them to be completely different. Why would you do that?I know people would complain to me and say that's what the new modern warfare did but the new modern warfare reimagined the whole Modern Warfare trilogy, but in modern times. This game, tried to put itself between black ops 1 and 2 story.. But they treated their characters like if they reimagined them? they added bits and histologia to keep you going, there's multiple endings and there's one that makes me question what's the point of this games story? Matter of fact, I think they all do that, and the thing with these Call of Duty games. The theme is the story, and the setting, and if the story is good. The rest of the game feels and looks good. If the theme is trash. The rest of it all falls apart (zombies and multiplayer). To be brutally honest, I'm upset that they didn't try to get james C. Burns To play Woods again, as they did before. It makes sense if you were reimagining the story like Modern Warfare but they didn't, I want to know the truth of why they did not try to get him. Imagine how you made James feel, how you made the fans feel. I've seen a bunch of clips on YouTube of him acting, a bunch of interviews, and that's woods right there. you can't put the body of his character in people's views for nostalgia to get them to buy your game. Maybe that's not what they did. I don't know but that's how I feel and I feel horrible... I feel worse Wondering how James feels. Short summary there is fun to be had with this game, especially the zombies.
    But the theme for both multiplayer, and zombies the bad story and it makes the rest of the experience feel bad. Just like it would in any other Call of Duty game. Not trying to be a hater but this this reminds me of black ops 4, sometimes beloved characters should be put to rest instead of brought out of their grave and treated like this.     My whole review is only about MP, I never play anything else in CoD...

    As 6v6 MP only player I considered MW 2019 absolutely the worst CoD ever created.     The last thing I ever wanted from CoD series is realism - the only reason I buy CoD is that it's casual fast paced arcady shooter, so I consider Cold War being huge improvement(to me every single CoD is masterpiece compared to last year MW). It's fast paced, maps are better(but not perfect), perks are more balanced, TTK is little bit slower(but still quite fast), there is just 1 land mine with long CD, game actually has some colors, camping is not the only way to play and it can be countered. It's CoD again and not Insurgency clone made for CoD haters and realism seekers. First 10 hours I had flawless experience - it reminded me times of BO1 and BO2 which are my most favorite CoD games. I wanted to go for 8+ rating but then thick skill based matchmaking kicked in and it ruined my experience with game little bit(and little bit more). Hard campers and sweats started to often fill my lobbies again(but at least whole game is not designed only for them). There should be casual playlist with weak or none SBMM and ranked with this kind of SBMM with ranks and extra rewards. Also on some maps there are flashing textures(sand on Satelite, mountains on Cartel). This was not happening on beta. There are also small bugs here and there like unlockable calling cards are not saved when you pick them. Another problem is lack of 6v6 maps on release so for now its like 6.5/10 for me untill everything is fixed. After that and when they add more maps it would be like 7.5/10. If they add also ranked and nerf SBMM in casual playlist I would go even for 8.5/10 easily. No performance problems at all on my side, runs exactly as MW (i7-7700k+1080Ti), 80-100 fps 1440p maxed out(tested MP only)

    EDIT: Changed rating from 7 to 2 just because of SBMM... It's not objective but I just can't do this anymore. I like game itself in general (much more than MW) but I absolutely refuse to sweat each and every single game to my maximum potential just to keep 1,2+ k/d in CASUAL playlist. I am not ranked player in any game - I HATE e-sport and ranked tryhard-meta trend, only reason I was playing COD was because it's casual MP game and it's not anymore. Game offers absolutely no choice in this matter, no ranked vs quick match playlist, there is only ranked without rank. Burn in hell for ruining this casual MP series and otherwise good game with system like this. I hope at least Battlefield will never give up on completly random server list system... I always liked COD more but this is just unbearable. Game itself decide who and when will do well or terrible in each match, not player skill. You had 2 good matches? Bad for you, next 2 you will be annihilated... You suck in 2 matches? Well, here is your candy - you will be rewarded with some easy game next. This is not even multiplayer, it's just singleplayer with adaptive difficulty with players carefully picked instead of bots.    … Expand

    I’ve been playing Call of Duty since Modern Warfare and Black ops. This game has the worst multiplayer experience ever. I say this because of the clunky weird ADS mechanics and how the gun moves when ADS. Aim assist is broken causing you to shoot around your target like a barrier is around them and pushes you away from them. The horrible aim assist makes this game impossible to enjoy onI’ve been playing Call of Duty since Modern Warfare and Black ops. This game has the worst multiplayer experience ever. I say this because of the clunky weird ADS mechanics and how the gun moves when ADS. Aim assist is broken causing you to shoot around your target like a barrier is around them and pushes you away from them. The horrible aim assist makes this game impossible to enjoy on multiplayer. The campaign is decent but the graphics on this game are very weak for a next generation Call of Duty game. The only enjoyable thing I get from this game is the zombies game mode. They did great with this part of the game. I don’t recommend getting this game until the aim assist is fixed for multiplayer.… Expand

    Trash, pure trash. Campy, caters to new players who don’t care about getting better, just being average, Skill Based Matchmaking that is complete trash. Lobbies take longer to get into that 10 years ago, weapons that laser beam you because it’s better for new players to feel better about themselves, breaking the lobbies up after every single game.

    Do you want to know how sad the amount of content is in this game? the store has ONE pack and nothing else. I paid $65 for an empty store. Don't get me wrong, I am not a fan of these stores because ever since they came out, game development has no longer been about gameplay and content; now it's all about money, skins, and looking cool...(2K)...

    I'm not a fan of where game development seems to be heading in the near future. Back in the good old days before 10 and 12-year-olds had smartphones and credit cards (360, PS3), a game was released with all its content. I didn't mind the map packs or small extra DLC's. At least the FULL GAME was released. Now they release 33% of a game, have you pay full price, and release items as time goes on so that they keep you in this loop of coming back to the game when they add something so you can always be entitled to make a purchase. We might as well just start buying half made cars. No brakes, just the gas pedal. Come back in a month for an update. That itself should show you how wrong this is.     Ok game. But it Crashes alot and my ps5 crashed total. So it had to reboot data. Fix it asap

    Splitt screen dont work. 5 fps sometimes. My rounds ends with ce error.

    I can start the Story Mode again from begin...because my save data just missing. Too bad cant give -5 Points. Shame on this game

    Where do I even begin. Let's start with why even release this game the mess that it is. Modern Warfare is so much better do not waste your money on this game. It's a buggy mess that has more glitches than a Bethesda game. On top of that there are so many little exploitable things everyone uses so you die as you spawn sometimes. It's camper paradise and it's awful. Don't buy it!

I see some people say you have to install the campaign in 3 parts and get them from the Playstation store. 1. Why on earth would i have to do thati own the disc? 2. There is nothing on the store apart from content they want you to pay for. And none of it says its anything to do with the campaign, its all to do with multiplayer. And i've already paid £70 for the disc it should come with the full campaign on it, i'm not paying for anything else. Then i read someone else say i need to unistall and reinstall something called a battle net!! What on earth is a battle net when its at home!? So i'm left with a broken game that i paid £70 and waited 2 days to install only so i couldn't play it. Whatever happened to the days you just whacked a disc in and off you went?     - zombies is fun but there is only one map so it gets old

    I usually love COD multilayer but this game feels horrible. It’s a combination of the movement mechanics, poor connections, enemies are so hard to see, poor map design. Don’t waste your money

This is probably due to their color selection. Its like its out of a box of crayons instead of the real life. The colors just lack the proper contrast and this leads to a loss of detail and variation. Looking at the guns themselves they look like they are from Black opps 2 graphicly. They just lack some of the sharper depth and angles and color contrast. This doesnt feel 4k at all.
    Now lets get to the real goods the bugs. they are small little bugs that are everywhere and its little things that should have been caught like respawn times not counting down and audio foot steps not subsiding when you quit walking. well i guess the audio is a big one The whole audio is broken you cant hear anything until the dude is on top of you and the sound that you make feels like its outrageous. I'm giving it a one because it does bring some more interesting dynamic maps especially in the ground war area of scale. It also has a new game mode which is like a mini royal game called dirty bomb that's actually pretty fun and of course zombies. The fact that there is exfill and zombies as a whole feel way more immersive with set endings to the game or being able to continue on. Its fresh with a hint of nostalgia I'm actually liking that. Oh and lets not also mention the spawning and respawning of the zombie and boss zombie which can practically teleport all over the map and if you happen to miss or just stand for like 1 second to where one of the teleport location is you just get one shoted by the boss out of nowhere as they can just teleport to your location if you get too far which mind you is probably just a short run away. Oh did I mention they already have cash shop item since the game launched yep a 60-70 dollar game launching with little content wants to launch a cash shop first before content.… Expand

    How the mighty have fallen - Cold war takes a step back in every conceivable way (the campaign being decent is it's saving grace). The multiplayer feels like it was a port from a game made 10 years ago and skill-based matchmaking seems to be intensified. Hard pass - For anyone expecting the quality that was last year's MW, - lower those expectations significantly

In addition, why do you let me choose my name and character attributes if I have no voice? Too cheap for voice actors? Don't give me options then. Who cares what I look like? Can't see me. The grenade indicator doesn't show up half the time and then suddenly I'm blown up. No explanation for my deaths. My campaign teammates constantly run out in front of me while shooting or run right out where I've pitched a grenade, and then I'm penalized back to the start of the section for friendly fire. Clearly the AI was made my interns. May just be me but the bullets don't seem particularly accurate. Definitely cheaped out on the collectibles and the whole game feels rushed and cheap. I only paid $40 for cross gen edition and I feel like that was a rip off. I am not even sure I'll even finish the game. Wish I had bought a disc version so I could sell it today.… Expand

    Just... downloads! The campaign takes as long to download as it takes to finish. Even if you purchase the disc version you have tho download the campaign! In three parts. There different down load for textures. Separate downloads for multi-player, splitscreen, and more to play zombies. Utter crap!

    -Skill based matchmaking ruins this game. Games go from fun enjoyable times to boring slogs or complete sweaty matches where you have to try really hard. It flip flops constantly and can leave a person feeling mixed, or just tired of playing really quickly.

    -The Multiplayer maps are mostly all bad. Raid, Express, and Nuketown are fine, but every other map is either too big, confusing, or gives me eye strain. The maps when looking at them from a distance mesh weirdly, and as a result you'll have issues finding people which will eventually lead to you being shot by someone you couldn't see(this happens a lot).

    -It takes a long time to find zombie games, and even when you do they usually don't last long whether its because of a ragequit, people not working together, or the next issue im bringing up:

    -Connection issues. Yep this game still has them. I've been disconnected from games multiple times, even a SOLO GAME. My internet is working perfectly fine, so its confusing that call of duty after many years of release still fails to improve upon its connect, and suffer from host migrations as well.

    -The game asks for a lot in many different areas. It's 190 gb big, which is absurd even by triple A standards, its 10 dollars more than the industry standard(70 dollars), and it asks you to buy a battle bass to get tier rewards. Everything feels incredibly grindy and it just isn't fun.

    The Ugly:
    -The game runs incredibly choppy at times, even on a PS5(Which is supposed to be the big next gen console), prepare for random frame drops, they'll show up eventually.

    -CoD Points.

    -Prop Hunt is worse now, it seems more heavily favored for the hunters, as the movement as a prop can be sluggish.

    -While zombies is fine, it still feels relatively weak and not as charming or as fun or adrenaline pumping as previous zombie modes, but it is better than CoD WW2's zombies, 100%.

    -Familiar characters such as Woods and Mason in the campaign have different voice actors that don't really sell it for me, and Wood's dialogue infamously said some stupid thing about an Onion.

    -The plot twist at the end of the campaign is pretty obvious.

    Overall this game is a trashfire. It doesn't deserve your money, its a boring slog, and I can't see any reason to pick it over other fps games out right now. Not even the good campaign can save this one.

I thought about mentioning the errors and flaws in my review but you can write off the entire game as a huge error, RIP call of duty.     This is the worst nightmare for a real CoD fan. Played every game in the saga (not portable spinoffs) since original CoD on my Pentium III. This isn't nightmarish as a product itself. It is after the release of Modern Warfare. It was like Activision telling the fanbase "hey, let's go back 5 or 6 years boys". And that's enough for me. 1/10

    another fine example of pay to win BS. multiplayer is fun, but not when you're level 24 and you are playig against people with level 3000+ and higher, and have guns with zero recoil and heat vision. but don't fret, if you don't want to grind to get better gear, you can just buy better guns for actual money. so yes on to[p of the $$ for the game, you'll have to spend more just to compete.

    Call of duty campaigns have become notoriously linear and with that, notoriously repetitive, and whilst they cannot be compared to massive open world games, the lack of progress in moving away from the linear storyline has really started to frustrate me over the last few years. The campaign was a good mix of everything you'd come to expect with a Call of Duty game - Lots of shooting, lots of blowing up and slow motion carnage.

    On the negative side for the campaign, upon progression to the final mission I am literally on the edge of my seat with excitement. I'm pausing the game and telling my partner (who isn't a gamer) in excrutiating detail what's just happened and why it's so awesome. At the time, I'm considering it one of the top Call of Duty campaigns and I'm ready to see what happens next. I press "X" in eager anticipation........ and the credits roll.

    For those who have experienced this ending, they'll understand that the game ends just as we've got to the most exciting part. It feels unfinished, but at the same time doesn't end on any type of cliffhanger... The game was oustanding, but I was just left a bit unfulfilled. Hard to explain.

    Zombies for me is a no-go. I'm a 30 year old guy who doesn't have a massive amount of time on his hands, I want to go into a game that'll last 30 to an hour at a time. My mates have spent entire nights on Zombies. May be for some people, but definitely not for me, but I realise that this is down to circumstances so haven't actually included this in my review.

    Now for the (extremely) bad. Multiplayer is nothing short of a mess. Modern Warfare was extremely slow, but they've literally gone from the slowest call of duty, to one of the fastest I can remember. The only saving grace is that they've not included the verticality of the previous exo-suit versions, meaning that you know everyone is going to be 'ground-level'.

    However, the speed in which players move is just outrageous and the main reason I'm writing this review. You barely get a chance to see anyone and they've sprinted rings around you and wiped you out. Again, I realise I may be getting old and maybe the reactions might not be where they used to, but it's really not what I expect from a modern day CoD game.

    Time to kill is increased, making the above issue even worse. Add both of these factors to cross-play, and what you have is an extensive advantage for PC players who with the much quicker movement, give me no chance in being able to track them and get a shot off, never mind actually kill them.

    There have been a number of occassions where I have been shot by someone directly infront of me, and I mean literally standing in front of me (as shown by the kill cam). However I don't even get a chance to see them. Having recorded my gameplay, on several of these occassions the player hasn't even shown on my screen. As other players have said, what a horrendous buggy mess.

    The gameplay of multiplayer is the type of level that will prevent me buying a CoD game in the future. The bugs are pretty outrageous for a AAA title, however I can appreciate with Covid some of these will have slipped through the net in the way that we all have to work from home, developers will be no different.

    Essentially, Cold War is essentially half a capaign and a weapon expansion pack for Warzone to me. The one star is for how good the campaign was, but the rest is a total mess.    … Expand

    Thankfully, a few of the early bugs were ironed out of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and subsequent season passes have patched up modes and maps that were lacking. The campaign is genuinely intriguing but may not appeal to those who just want to run and gun. Zombies and Multiplayer modes are plentiful and there should be something for everyone to thoroughly enjoy. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War should be used as the poster child for PlayStation 5's DualSense controller which has been put to full use for an immersive experience. Casual players will be somewhat put off by the sheer storage space required to fully experience everything that is on offer, especially given that SSD capacity is this generation's gold dust, but Call of Duty die-hards will most likely overlook this.

Sure, it might be entertaining for a little while, but the more time you spend with it, the more you realize it’s just rambling on aimlessly.
