Remarkable is one of the most appropriate ways to describe Atomfall. So many triple A games these days are situated in American cities and smother you with their American cultural values, but Atomfall is as British as a Yorkshire Pudding, and thus it's an absolute treat. The array of difficulty options, the elegant scenery, the incentive to discover and go off the beaten path, and all the pleasant sights and sounds of Atomfall make it an unforgettable and outstanding survival game that is irresistibly moreish and well-worth your time.

It’s one of the best games I’ve played this year for sure, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a compelling, narrative adventure game. It’s not a British Fallout knock-off, it’s something much more than that and it has serious potential to become a series.

With a tightly designed world, and a level of player freedom rarely seen, Atomfall already represents some of the best offline adventuring 2025 has to offer. Best of all, it's keen to allow as many people as possible to join the party.

Placing you at the centre of a mystery, Atomfall gives you the freedom to achieve your goal in numerous ways via its engaging and rewarding leads system. Captivating from beginning to end, you'll enjoy exploring its various locations, meeting its quirky NPCs and engagaing in combat. Then, once you've discovered one ending, you'll likely jump in again to discover another.

With a compelling story shrouded in mystery, weighty combat and beautiful environments, Atomfall makes for a wonderfully condensed game that respects its players’ time and provides a welcome challenge throughout.

Atomfall is a departure and a triumph for Rebellion Developments. A showcase of narrative freedom that allows players to discover their own story within a tightly designed puzzle sandbox. While the strict mechanics have been seen before, the depth of the world and strength of the central mystery are the secrets behind Atomfall’s true success.

Immersive Sims are incredibly difficult to create, and Atomfall deserves heaps of praise for going against the grain and presenting an open-world format that bucks almost every established trend. But even more so for doing this with aplomb and crafting an immersive, engaging, and breathtaking world. Gunplay is a stone's throw away from Sniper Elite, but thanks to the survival approach, everything feels much more frantic and frenetic. The only glaring issue is that the core narrative flatters to deceive, and the enemy AI retains some run-on issues from the Sniper Elite series. But, all in all, Atomfall is a triumphant immersive sim that takes big swings and hits plenty of homeruns.

Atomfall might not get everything right, but by St. George it gets England right - and that might be enough.

Atomfall presents you with an engaging setting containing exciting situations and interesting gameplay. Because the game is non-linear in structure, the experience will be different for each player, which gives Atomfall a unique twist. Add to that good voice-acting and varied soundtrack and the complete adventure is very solid. Though you should expect some cumbersome combat, less-than-perfect stealth and some inconsistent stealth, that's no reason to skip the game though.

Atomfall is a lot of fun although the central conceit is as daft as any seen in many other videogames. Combat is a little underwhelming as is the stealth, but the worldbuilding and sense of place are second to none. We look forward to playing through all over again given the double dip on PS4 and PS5 for the trophy set.

Atomfall's best features lie hidden underneath a layer of gameplay that never rises above 'just good enough'. For those who dig deeper, there's a thrilling mystery to be solved, and a level of variety that you'll only truly appreciate on a second playthrough.

A first-person survival adventure that offers true freedom, letting players explore and uncover the truth behind the Windscale disaster however they choose. Its open-ended structure, rich British atmosphere, and engaging mystery make it stand out, despite some clunky combat mechanics and an unpolished survival system.

Atomfall feels like a constant struggle for survival, where any mistake can cost you dearly. If you are a fan of STALKER and Metro 2033, this game will be a real treat for you.

Atomfall has style to spare. We are not faced with a simple "British" re-proposal of titles like Fallout and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.. On the contrary, the work by Rebellion has a soul all its own and a strong character, which could lay the foundations for an excellent IP to carry forward alongside Sniper Elite. The jewel in the crown of the game is the very well-crafted narrative section, with a story (and a lore) to reconstruct trying to unravel a tangle of leads, clues and whispers that come from everywhere. The gameplay has been designed to give the player the greatest possible freedom, putting aside the traditional progression systems in favor of a dynamic management of the skill trees and inventory. The only shame is for some uncertainty from a technical point of view, connected to the (controversial) choice of using a proprietary graphics engine that now needs to be modernized.

Atomfall is a delightful surprise in a year packed with big game releases. I haven’t felt this amount of joy from discovery, or this level of player agency in a game in quite some time. Wherever it is on your list of games to play in 2025, move it up.

Atomfall succeeds in creating a very British village worthy of exploration, so long as you have the patience. If you're willing to stick with its unique mechanics and its wholly original take on the apocalyptic survival genre, there's a fascinating game to be discovered.. You can even eat cornish pasties.

Atomfall is a testament to intricate, compact, RPG design. A proof that 'bigger' isn’t always the answer to immersive RPG design. It also shows just how wonderful games can be when they respect player freedom. With a solid gameplay loop, enchanting locales, and some absolutely delicious quest design, Atomfall is a delightful success of the classic ‘Fallout’ RPG formula, despite its flaws.

Atomfall is a surprise in all the best ways – it is a dense but enjoyable world to explore with a sense of freedom in every sense of the word. The objective and quest designs feel truly open-ended, inspired by the best aspects of games like Fallout: New Vegas. But despite some friction between the game's action underpinnings and light RPG mechanics, Atomfall is an intriguing, unique and ambitious foray into a new genre for Rebellion, and one I hope to see them continue to dabble in.

While I wouldn’t call Atomfall revolutionary, Rebellion has done a great job of taking a unique setting and putting the right pieces around it. Figuring out where less is more is tantamount to the formula that works for Atomfall, along with offering players a streamlined experience that can be enjoyed for multiple playthroughs. Atomfall is brilliant, and solid in the right places.

Atomfall may be one of Rebellion's most different proposals in years, but it delivers a sandbox with investigation in an interesting and fun way. There are technical and some structural problems that are notable, but they do not take away the shine of a game that has everything to please a good portion of players.

Atomfall commits to embodying everything it means to be British, and it comes out the other side all the better for it. The mystery at the heart of the alternate 1960s setting is gripping, forever teasing clues and solutions to a way out of its rural quarantine zone. Its combat systems and mechanics let the experience down, but Rebellion’s latest peaks when it makes you the countryside’s Inspector Gadget with a bunch of Leads to pursue and villagefolk to suspect.

Atomfall is a good survival-action game set in a unique world in an alternative1950's North England. The combat is fun. The exploring worthwhile and comes with much freedom. Nevertheless modern comfort is few and far between, what's part of the expericence, but could easily make you feel lost in a way that's beyond fun.

Similar to an English sky, some aspects of the game are too grey to shine among other titles. Even so, you can feel the interesting storywriting and some clever ideas that deserve a chance. You won't be amazed, but you will have a good time, my lad.

Atomfall is not a game for the masses, but a motivating search for clues with British charm and a character all of its own.

As far as we are concerned, Atomfall is the most brilliant and inventive title to ever come from Rebellion. It's fun, smart, highly replayable and well written, and almost forced us to begin a second run as soon as we completed the first. The combat system is basic, however (especially lacking in close combat), and the AI routines are limited. A nice try overall, and we hope to see a sequel soon.

Atomfall may suffer from poor AI, ineffective stealth mechanics, and derivative combat (despite satisfying weapon handling) but its charm is undeniable. Set in a uniquely British, beautifully crafted post-apocalyptic world, it delivers a succinct story filled with eccentric characters, gripping mysteries, and deep conspiracies alongside a quest system that avoids holding your hands. We can already see the words "cult classic" written on it.
