XIII (Remake)

XIII returns with an opportunity to redeem himself but with performance improvements to be made. If those fringes are finally solved, he will once again enjoy a luxurious opportunity to convince the players who did not do it before and hold more to a thread of hope for the second half.

This XIII Remake was supposed to allow fans of the original to relive their memories in a way that was suited to modern hardware and gameplay norms. Sadly, this game failed to deliver due to a questionable choice of art-direction, last gen controls and many, many flaws and bugs that hamper the game.

Microids' remake of XIII is the equivalent of injecting a deadly virus into the structure of the original game that results in nothing more than corruption.

There still is a good game inside this remaster, even if it hasn’t aged as well as others, but the technical issues make it hard to find.

Proof that some classics should remain in the past... The story still works and the soundtrack’s awesome, but everything else is a disaster. Clunky controls, stupid AI, a shitload of bugs and glitches... The list of complaints is almost never-ending.

XIII Remake could well be called a demake as this new version feels a step back from the original game. Littered with bugs, the game is rendered almost unplayable, and we still don't get how it could be released in this state.

XIII Remake completely disgraces the original game by converting it into fodder for Internet memes. It’s better left to the digital wasteland of unfortunate titles that should have never existed. If you really want to play XIII as it was intended, dust off your old PlayStation 2 (or GameCube or Xbox) and scavenge garage sales for a copy of the game.

XIII is a disastrous remake that probably never should have been made. The franchise's cult classic status officially has a major blemish in this remake. It's almost impossible to find anything positive to say about it because every aspect is just so broken and bland. If you want to get into the franchise, read the graphic novel but do yourself a favor and avoid this remake at all costs.

The original version of the XIII video game, based off a graphic novel series from the 1980s, is remembered as both a novelty and a cult classic. Unless PlayMagic follows through with its intended roadmap of updates and bug fixes to make this game more enjoyable, the remake of XIII will only be remembered as an uncomfortable attempt at reintroducing the series to a new generation - one which is sadly more likely to turn new fans away than draw them in.
