The original was a pretty good game with a unique art style. I liked it a lot.
This version though is utter trash. For one, its a buggy mess of a game that would give bethesda a run for their money, but the art style is also completely ruined. It doesn't have any of the charm of the original at all.
The devs apologized and said it didn't meet their quality standards, but then, WHY

"saving the game" is useless, half the time it doesn't save your position and puts you back to the start of the level with the unskippable cutscenes.

The quality of games since cyberpunk is approaching lunacy.

At least on the PS5 the error screen is no longer blue. DO NOT PAY FOR THIS. i mean this type of game release should be illegal.

I never played the original but surely it has to be better than this. The game is terribly optimised and suffers greatly from performance issues. It also stutters and chugs along somewhere between 10fps or below whenever there is more than one character on screen and the amount of screen tearing in this game is absolutely staggering. Character Models/A.I will often be contorted and doing something that they're not meant to be doing. For example, there were many a-time where I'd be in a gunfight with a few enemies for them to only to disperse and run off into a corner and just stand there. Level Design is quite awful as there were a few occasions where I'd wonder around a small area for about 10 minutes with no idea where to go, only for a YouTube gameplay being able to assist me as the Game's Navigator decides whenever it wants shows up. There is very little care or effort put into this title which is quite apparent especially when there is so much clipping issues that often requires a few restarts before key objects correctly appear and there's even grammatical errors in the trophy description. I would also remap some controls (nothing fancy, just changing buttons inputs from "hold" to "press") however, despite these settings getting saved, the game would just decide when it was going to obey them.

The only merits I can give this game is that the checkpoint restarts are instantaneous, Adam West VO being included and the story is interesting.

It's such a shame because I was really looking forward to trying the remake of the original XIII as I never got around to it when I was younger. However, despite a 25GB patch later, this game is riddled with bugs that really takes any enjoyment out of it and because the game is quite lengthy, it's a real headache to complete. I wish this game gets the remake treatment it deserves in a few years under a competent developer.

Super disappointing. The dev's clearly didn't try on this. As of right now (12-03-2020) they are on patch version 1.03 and there are still visual glitches galore, nearly unending screen tearing, audio glitches and thats just the tip of the iceberg. Wait until they fix it (hopefully) or you get it for free. I gave it a 3 for the nostalgia factor.

I‘ve been playing the original one and it was a great game. I couldn‘t wait for the remake. It‘s been a long time since a game disappointed me like this remake. There are way too many bugs, it‘s frustrating.

    What a feat !

This game is not just a disappointment, it really is a steal of your money. The lack of love and the level of mediocrity from this studio is ridiculous.

Okay I was a huge fan of the original. Imagine the surprise when 17 years later I still think the original is a better game, bearing in mind this was an era of no "day 1 patches" etc. I could go on about the little issues in design and how dated it feels. That's not what I'm focusing on today. The fact that this game is riddled with gamebreaking glitches, audio stuttering, overlapping voice lines, tinny weapon sounds and sometimes no weapon sounds at all frame drops in action sequences, screen tearing and the alternate control scheme not being checked as some of the button inputs are completely wrong (for example the stealth attack is supposed to be R3 but the crouch is bound to R3)
I'd normally excuse a badly made game because usually theres some charm to be found somewhere, but this is different. This is clearly a unfinished product, that somehow made it past QA. Frankly I find it insulting that
    A) they think they can just sell this as a product.
    B) That they're charging people over £30 for this "game" I want this to be an example to gamers that theres a difference between a game you just dont enjoy, and a badly made game *Cough* The Last of Us 2 *Cough*. I am more than willing to give this another try when they patch (finish) the game, but for now this shouldnt be touched by anyone until the devs fix up.

Gameplay is so cookie cutter and generic these days that the old games are the only way to get inovation and originality.. Really wish they had done better on this remake though, I liked the art and scenery, its just the bugs and broken sections that kills it.

    This game is extremely buggy.

Кривая и убогая подделка, требующая за себя почти полную стоимость ААА-игры.
Позор. Недостойная ни скольких положительных оценок.

It has been Eighteen years since we seen this uniquely cell shaded first person shooter first appear on the Gamecube, PlayStation 2 & X box; it is now back fully remastered on PlayStation 4, Switch & X box one. With older generation games being ported over to newer systems they do usually pretty well for the nostalgia factor, unfortunately that is not the case here.

With older generation games being ported over to newer systems they do usually pretty well for the nostalgia factor, unfortunately that is not the case here.

You play as a man with no name and no memory the only thing we know about him is that he goes by Thirteen who has been framed for killing a high level politician. He is arrested and questioned by the FBI in which he escapes with aide of agent Jones. Throughout the game you are trying to put the missing pieces together to get your memory back and who was trying to frame you for the assassination. The story reminds me of one of those movies that you see every few years you know the one where the really good cop gets set up and framed for something he did not do by his boss or one of his colleagues, then goes out for redemption a movie like that but with really bad voice acting, I also need to remember the game is Eighteen years old as well.

The game play is where it gets interesting to say the least, unfortunately the game play is very lackluster and full of bugs. This is a first person shooter so normally I know what to expect with XIII it took me by surprise. The audio was off when it came to people speaking the mouths would still move but there was no sound. The gun would fire but the sound of the gun going off would be delayed by a full second. The way the enemies interacted with my character felt very unnatural, it would take almost an entire clip to just kill an enemy and the way the enemy fell when you killed them was comical. The game play almost felt like it had a stability problem through the entire game from popping in an out of a frozen state to having to restart a level because the command prompt to opening a door would not appear became quite frustrating.

Sadly to say XIII is a let down the only unique thing it has going for it is the cell shaded art style. The story feels like it has been done before a lot in video games and movies. The game play unfortunately did not live up to the expectations of what it use to be; also the game is just not very fun in general at this time & point in video games.

Glitchiest game I’ve ever played. Would never recommend this to anyone. Was forced to reply multiple levels because the game crash. The audio was messed up and muffled in multiple levels. Frame rate very choppy a good amount of the times. Avoid at all costs.

Without the bugs it could be like a 4 or 5. But this game is probably one of the worst games I have ever played. Unless you get it for free and you have a lot of patience, it's a complete waste of time. It runs at like 10 fps on ps4 and on ps5 it runs decent but crashes almost after every mission. At one point I had to upload the save to my ps4 just to get through a scene it kept crashingWithout the bugs it could be like a 4 or 5. Good game. Still have some minor issues, but it's a really fun game to play (thanks to the patches). I was a big fan of the 2003 version, and this one does not disapointed. Still, do not pay the full price, but for 20-30$ max, it's really enjoyable. It will bug if you use the crossbow (and stay in the scope).

I played this game after handful of patches (August 2023) and if was not that bad, I was expecting a lot worse. Sure, on PS4 it still had fps drops (in one place it got as low as 5-6 fps) and tearing, but it was still fun. It could use some more tuning and optimisation, but overall worth playing, but only on huge discount.

Proof that some classics should remain in the past... The story still works and the soundtrack’s awesome, but everything else is a disaster. Clunky controls, stupid AI, a shitload of bugs and glitches... The list of complaints is almost never-ending.
