May 8, 2019I’d absolutely suggest giving World War Z a shot, even more so if you were a fan of Left 4 Dead. It really scratches that itch, namely a fun, zombie focused co-op shooter with a solid progression system that’ll keep you hooked for a while. So despite its association with a so-so horror film, World War Z manages to rise above its source material into something that I found to be a lot of fun.
-
May 2, 2019I think this game is a credit to the movie and is just balls out fun. I recommend it to anyone who loves working with others in a frantic shooting match. Give it a try!
-
May 7, 2019All in all, World War Z is undoubtedly a ton of fun, especially if you have friends to play (and chat) with. If you're a fan of the Left 4 Dead games or Killing Floor, chances are very good you'll enjoy this game as well. If you aren't, I would recommend trying this game as a rental just to try it out before you dive in, as the entry price (for now) is rather high compared to similar games in the genre. And of course, remember to aim for the head.

May 3, 2019At first glance, there was little promise here. A movie tie-in to a pretty bad movie, so long after it, and clearly taking more than inspiration from another existing popular franchise? Yet, what at first seems like just another shallow Left 4 Dead clone reveals itself to be so much more, it feels more a true successor to its inspiration, definitely one to pick up for groups of friends looking for a new game to enjoy together, even more so for the Left 4 Dead fans out there. If the stability issues can be resolved, this is going to superb and needs to be on more people's radar.
-
Apr 28, 2019World War Z is a pretty fun but extremely short co-op zombie shooter that is eerily similar to Left4Dead but helps counter the withdrawal any fans of that franchise may have. A few more bug fixes and much more in-game content would give this game the much-needed resuscitation it deserves.
-
Apr 23, 2019World War Z is a blast to play featuring some great action and some intense encounters that should be experienced by anyone looking for a great co-op game.
-
Jul 15, 2019I didn’t expect much out of World War Z as a licensed title, but Saber Interactive has done a great job adapting the IP’s globe-spanning scope and massive hordes of zombies while bolstering it with inspiration from a past classic. I’m not sure that I’d recommend it for players who insist on playing alone, but for those who have at least one friend or those who don’t mind recruiting some randos, it’s a great way to kill a million zombies over a weekend.
-
Apr 19, 2019World War Z is a surprisingly fresh take on the well-trodden Left 4 Dead formula. While a bit rough around the edges and nowhere near as groundbreaking as Valve’s series, World War Z is a confident co-op shooter that turns the intensity to 11 without being overwhelming or obnoxious. If you think you’ve got the stamina, this war is worth enlisting for.
-
Apr 22, 2019World War Z successfully recreates the most spectacular scenes of the movie. The co-op experience works well but it's a bit short and doesn't add anything fresh to the genre.
-
May 2, 2019World War Z is the new third-person shooter from Sabre Interactive. Gear up to fight the gigantic horde of zombies. Travel around the globe to uncover multiple storylines.
-
Apr 30, 2019World War Z's a competent, fun squad-based shooter that really showcases the swarms very well. There's a swift pacing to the missions which can snag when playing alone. As a multiplayer effort, it finds its footing more confidently. The progression should help keep players involved although I'd love to have more episodes to play through.
-
Apr 26, 2019It’s safe to say that World War Z doesn’t shy away from its undeniable likeness to Valve’s 10 year old masterpiece. In borrowing many of that game's ideas, from its AI engine to the uncannily similar special zombies, it's actually become a spiritual successor that can scratch that Left 4 Dead itch. World War Z might lack in originality, but this isn’t enough to deter from the brainless, fast-paced, cooperative shooter action that you can effortlessly sink hours into and unknowingly get a real soft spot for.
-
Apr 24, 2019Aside from the glaring technical issues and the almost blatant copy-paste job of the formula from the Left 4 Dead series, World War Z should offer a satisfactory experience for anyone wanting to kill some time and some zombies in the process. Of course, there are a wealth of far better games out there which one could spend their hard-earned money on, but $40 isn’t too steep of an asking price for what WWZ‘s third-person shooter action has to offer.
-
Apr 22, 2019It's easy to compare the game to Left 4 Dead, but even that game's impressive zombie swarms can't compete with the jaw-dropping sight of World War Z's enemies.
-
Apr 19, 2019Though clearly inspired by Left 4 Dead in its mechanics, World War Z plays differently. It doesn't have the same depth, which limits it to a simple way to let off steam, but it can offer some good memories for you and your friends.
-
Apr 19, 2019With a budget price, in fact, it offers a co-operative campaign that - while banishing any form of narration - will entertain and entertain those who will play it with other colleagues. This is due, in a nutshell, to the only real diamond point of the offer: the gore system and the swarms of the undead.
-
Apr 22, 2019Quotation forthcoming.
-
Apr 26, 2019World War Z is a competent team-based shooter that doesn't really add anything new to the genre. It is, however, great fun to play with friends in short bursts.
-
Apr 24, 2019World War Z tries to evoke the frantic L4D co-op experience, but there’s nothing really original and becomes repetitive too early. A fun experience during its initial hours, and it's better with friends.
-
Apr 23, 2019World War Z is a worthy TPS which feels quite good with brainless shooting and hordes of zombies, but the overall content is far too slim, and the gameplay far too repetitive to score a hit in our hearts. Consider playing it with friends, or pick it up at a sale.
-
Apr 23, 2019World War Z has a Left 4 Dead-based-DNA that exposes too much its lack of originality. The game, in its essence, is fun and enjoyable, but most of the merit it isn't all of its doing.
-
Apr 22, 2019If you want something you don’t have to think too deeply about or are into competitive multiplayer with friends, then World War Z could be for you. But if you’re expecting an in-depth narrative and a campaign that requires strategy and coordination, then perhaps you should stay away.
-
Apr 18, 2019World War Z is a game full of zombie hordes, a feeling of great burden and a great experience to engage with friends. But at the same time, the negative points are huge, from bad gunplay to the scant variety and very short duration. And these weigh heavily on the title.
-
May 20, 2019It might not too unbearable when you play with your close friends and you guys coop perfectly. But in general, this game is even much more boring than the zombie's daily life.
-
Playstation Official Magazine UKMay 28, 2019Reasonably priced but with only glimmers of personality. A fairly standard selection of multiplayer modes are livened up by the horde and generally a lot more fun than a lacking story campaign. [IssueE163, p.60]
-
May 17, 2019World War Z is probably actually up there as film tie-in games go, and is capable of offering some nifty zombie action that can get your pulse racing. But once you've seen its tricks, it all gets a bit samey fast - faster because we've seen something very similar before - and it's hard to imagine it having much of a shelf life.
-
May 6, 2019World War Z is a third-person shooter video game developed by Saber Interactive based on the 2006 book of the same name, and set in the same universe as the 2013 film adaptation. The game follows groups of survivors of a zombie apocalypse in the cities of Moscow, New York, Jerusalem, and Tokyo. The plot is not very appealing and the sixteen characters are poorly characterized. The gameplay inspired by Left 4 Dead is fun in the early hours of the game, but it doesn't have much longevity.
-
Apr 24, 2019A curate’s egg of zombie clichés and surprisingly solid multiplayer, with the movie’s undead hordes replicated in impressive fashion.
-
Apr 18, 2019World War Z has all the makings of a good co-operative experience thanks to its comprehensive class and weapon variety, but its objective-based gameplay can’t quite live up to the same standard. You’re sure to find enjoyment in fending off swarms of the undead and the multiplayer is a real highlight, but it's unlikely to pull you away from better multiplayer titles for long.
-
Apr 29, 2019World War Z has a great gameplay hook, but it unfortunately lacks the variety needed to keep it engaging past the first few hours.
-
May 6, 2019World War Z has no challenge, or tensions, or conflict; and a game with a horror setting but nothing horrifying is just horrifyingly boring. It’s fine on a technical basis, though.
-
Apr 16, 2019World War Z has some moments that are an utter blast – the special zombie types and impending doom of a zombie tower bring pure excitement. However, these moments are few and far between, leaving a shell of game with very little content, a lack of creativity, a near non-existent story, and a disappointingly shallow progression system.

Apr 26, 2019This is a game, though, that is so explicitly geared towards mayhem it awards you a trophy for getting through a mission without accidentally shooting a team member in the butt. World War Z doesn't take itself too seriously, and I appreciate that.
-
Apr 18, 2019When it's not broken, this Left 4 Dead ripoff is actually quite fun and features giant piles of zombies to mow down in a satisfying way. Unfortunately it's broken a LOT.
