This game is very fun, and unique. Naval combat genre is limited and legends fills a field of few
choice, most of them old or poor quality. The primary challenge you will face is the design and game changes the developers make that at headstrong and tone deaf, against the player base's tastes and desires, and changes the game's direction and entire feel.

At times the game will feel rudderless, with changes made that make a class of ship you may have invested a lot of time climbing the xp ladder for. The change may make that entire class of ship unplayable for a time, or change the game experience so radically that you no longer enjoy the gameplay, and you will feel like you have wasted a lot of time and money.

Any purchases you make in the game for ships may be made suddenly unhappy ones as game design changes makes that ship no longer relevant to the game. With the price per ship being the price of an entire other game, it makes you feel cheated to have your ship become crippled or obsolete.

I would not invest heavily in this game monetarily.

Let's talk about the ship types:

Battleships: By far the easiest class to play, they have large health pools, heals, and are very tough.
The best choice to start out with.

Cruisers: Lighter armor, less powerful guns, and more challenging to play. Natural predator of the Destroyer.

Destroyers: The ninja warriors, they attack unseen, and can kill a battleship with torpedoes. Very satisfying to do given the small size, but the natural prey of cruisers and carriers.

Aircraft carriers: The hardest ship class to play, it rewards long skill investment and practice.

Overall, the most enjoyable class is the Battleship, everything else being personal choice and desire for further challenge.

    Summary:

The game fills an empty void, and as pretty much the only game in town, they are the market leader. The game is fun and enjoyable.

The Pros are naval warfare at a fast pace, with an arcade feel.

The cons are a developer that does what it wants, with little to no care for the player base. They will make radical and severe changes that turn the game on it's head.

I would wholly recommend you try this game, as it's fun. I would however caution you
from investing in the game heavily.

A fun but disposable free to play game, that survives solely by being in a limited competition market.

I really loved to play this game. I still enjoy it. Slow tempo shooting action is suit for me. I have tried PC version before but not much. As PC WOT, there are too much pay to play walls. But legends are different. They removed many walls like port limitation, commander skills, something else. When I tried legends first time, I fell in love immediately.

But unfortunately, Wargaming is Wargaming. I don't understand they shows too much their old concept. Just so much unreasonable. When you play quest, you cannot done with ranked. If you don't have much time to play, you must choice ranked reward or quest reward. It's ridiculous. They always trying to reduce rewards or increase difficulty of quests like MMO RPG. They gives too much grind for quest. Gosh I'm not playing RPG. I actually play 4 hrs/day or more, I feel hard to complete all quests. Some are already paid. Means, they are sometimes forcing more grind or pay.

In my opinion they trying to experiment relation of anger and payment. Like Korean RPG style. They always gives uncomfortable things. To get free from that, you must pay. Unfortunately I don't pay on bad experience.

In conclusion, if you have much money for pay or much patient. Don't worry, it's cool.

The game suffers from design flaws.

Most players stick to AI mode, because in modes where you're pitted against other players, such as standard mode, ranked battles, and arena battles, you're not only stuck dealing with cluttered maps and teammates who get in your way, screw up your gameplay, and take points away from you (which is most of the worst you have to deal with in AI mode),

The first indication of this is the long wait times for standard, ranked and arena battles, whereas AI battles mostly load quickly (within 30 seconds). Long wait times do not fit with trying to put in many battles to rack up ship XP and credits, which sucks because AI battles reward considerably less ship XP and credits than standard, ranked and arena battles.

Many maps brings variety, but all too often the variety is in breadth of your degree of being pissed off, leaving narrow the breadth of your degree of having fun. Many battles feel too confined, too many islands cluttering the map, too many teammates getting in the way or you getting in their way, so many things to run into while you're zoomed in on enemy ships shooting them. Running into things translates into messing up your shots, screwing you over on point intake, when you're already fighting your teammates for points, and even getting you dead, which also screws up your point intake.

The fact that you have to split a limited number of enemy points up between you and your 8 teammates, and it largely comes down to who gets to the high damage targets (battleships/carriers) first, such that you're all fighting each other over scraps if you're unable to get to those high damage targets (like if you're stuck in a slow moving battleship or just happen to be chased by 3 or 4 enemies while one or two of your teammates run off seeking out the enemy carrier and leaving you alone to face fire from several directions), severely slows your game progress in the mid and upper ship tiers (3-7). It's a mixed blessing when a teammate goes inactive or chooses to sit and do nothing- you may get a bit more points but you face fire from more enemies since they don't have to divide their attention as much.

What the game really needs is an AI mode where you alone, or perhaps you and one or two other players in a division, go seek out enemy ships, taking on a couple or few at a time, patching yourself up (if you've got health patch available) before seeking out and reaching the next couple or few ships, wash and repeat, lasting through as many of these as you're able to, racking up points based on your skill, the skill of your teammate(s) in the division, and your combined skill as a team, and THIS forms the basis for advancing in the ship tech tree, so you're able to rack up points without an excess of teammates taking them all before you can get enough points to matter or otherwise screwing up your game (like running into you or blocking your torpedos). Competitive play should not be mixed with getting points for getting your ships and upgrading them. You should be able to do what you need to do without having to compete and frequently risk ending up with nothing but scraps.

Graphics. The sea, sky, land, they look good, definitely not the crisp, clear and vivid one could want to see in these days of high def graphics, but good compared to 1990's-2000ish graphics. The man-made structures (buildings, etc)- horrible- should be deleted if not reworked to not be obnoxious color and to be realistic. The ships themselves, they're not high def, it would be good if they were, at least the in-port views should be reworked to be high def, I mean, that's where you get to look over the ship and its equipment in detail, it should be in high def. Also, I'd rather see crisp clean vivid ship structure, equipment and components, with crisp clean color, preferably the color i choose for the hull, than the sloppy paint and rust that currently is so viewable in the in-port viewing. At least give me the option to, let others choose how they want to see their own ships but let me choose how i see mine.

In-fight graphics are fine the way they are, things happen too fast in-fight to pay attention to fine detail of graphics.

Although I still do follow the World of Warships PC scene, I find more pleasure in comfort of the ‘lightweight’ console version. Especially now, with crossplay between PS4 and Xbox One which guarantees quick matchmaking either in standard or ranked battles. [01/2020, p.72]

World of Warships is unfortunately a very good game. It is balanced and offers a varied and strategically interesting experience. It's unfortunate, because with its mercantile elements it will empty your wallet as quick as a shipwreck. It is up to the player and his conscience to make the difference. If you have friends with whom to play and organize in cooperative plays, it's even worse. Anyway, it's like the dealer ... The first dose is free, so what's the problem in trying ?

While I was skeptical at first, World of Warships has made the transition to consoles better than I thought possible, and is a blast to play.
