    10 out of 10 just for pissing off the alt-right snowflakes. Reading their negative reviews is hilarious and just goes to show how sad they are.

    If you're upset about a guy shooting a bunch of nazis who've invaded another country, then you're on the wrong side of the fence.

    I entered this franchise with RTCW: Tides of War back on the original Xbox. It is one of my favourite games of all time, so naturally I compare all the sequels to it. The first two games were passable, this one is as well, barely.

    I could easily give this game less than a 5, but I do have to point out the good parts of it which make it passable.     First off, the gun play is great in my opinion, I like the recoil, I like the heavy variants of weapons, and I like the sounds effects of all the weapons. The weapon upgrading system is also a neat touch, but not too amazing from an innovative point of view.

    Second, the perk system is great for adapting to your style of play, whether it is stealth based or guns blazing, perks are earned around your play style and are not too overpowering.

    Third, I think the game looks pretty great. I have read on other reviews that they have been having issues with FPS and whatnot (more so on PC), but on PS4 Pro on 4K, the game looks great.

    The positives end there unfortunately. The negatives tempted me to give this game a failing score.

    As others have mentioned before me, video games are an escape from reality, and used as time to unwind. THEY ARE NOT meant to be a platform for voicing your political concerns as a developer, whether it was Bethesda or Machine Games, gamers do not need, nor want, political ideologies (left or right) injected into these games. It is an absolute disgrace to push a leftist ideology and draw parallels between a nazi-controlled United States and the Trump administration. LEAVE IT OUT.

    I do not support Trump and I have no problem with the nazi killing aspect, as this was what Wolfenstein has always been about. I just do not believe that ideologies should be pushed in this type of platform.

    Beyond that glaringly obvious con, the enemy AI is really questionable sometimes. There are moments when you can be crouched in plain sight and they will not detect you. It really ruins the challenge and immersion.

    Why on Earth would you ever include this sensitive, emotional, and (again) political background story for BJ? He is now someone who grew up with an abusive, racist father, who did not approve of his interracial childhood friendship? This completely ruins the tough, relentless, borderline psychotic, personality that BJ had through the first couple entries in the franchise. This may not matter to some people, but to me, they softened BJ up completely and killed some of the immersion built up from the previous games. Hard to accept as a life long ID Software fan.

    Characters are somewhat weak, with a few good ones mixed in. Story is nothing amazing, and seems pretty sarcastic at some points. Definitely not meant to be taken seriously. Alongside this, the level design seems a bit poor, kind of makes some of the gun fights seem repetitive.

    Overall, I cannot bring myself to give this game higher than a 5, I had high expectations for Bethesda to make this game great after The New Order laid out a solid foundation, and after I played the masterpiece that was Doom, my expectations went even higher, and this probably hurt the value for me in the end. There just wasn't enough innovation and improvement over the predecessor to justify a higher score or $60 price tag. Bethesda should definitely consider bringing more ideas from ID back to this franchise, if a third instalment is planned.    … Expand

    I see that most most of the negative reviews are from "shocker" dipsh*ts who haven't even touched the game and are crying about their political agenda. From someone who has played it is everything I wanted from a follow up to the new order and more.     . Wolfenstein 2 never made me disapointed , It's is a wonderful follow up to the new order with almost everything being improved to be bette. The new id6 engine is fantastic the story is great and does not hold back any punches and the gameplay is just the best . I can play it all day long

    Game play is very satisfactory, nothing like killing nazis. Game story is over the top but when you have that in mind it is awesome. The guns are unique and very satisfying to use, love to dual wield shotguns and can't beat the Lasergewehr, wish it could be used longer with a single charge.

    Every weapon in this game has a certain meaty punch to them, with a decent perk and upgrade system to go with them. Overall, despite what people say, there is plenty of gameplay here and machine games has included side operations too, as a sort of shield from complaints that its too short, and they work fine if just readjustments to the same maps in the world.

    Looking back on this game overall, I was in constant state of enjoyment, and that I cannot deny, there are very mixed opinions in terms of users for this game, and all i can say is you might hate it or love it. But its certainly worth finding out, because this game is surprisingly creative.    … Expand

    The good, killing Nazis has never been more beautiful or grusome. The weapon selection and upgrades keep you varying gameplay nicely and rewards you well for using the same technique over and over. I enjoyed the story elements and varied locals. Its monochromatic beauty is filled with easter eggs and awesome destructable enviroments. The flow of this almost perfect game is thrown off when you die atop a pile of health that you were not picking up because it is one of the few games I can think off that makes you do this manually/including ammo and shields. It also is interrupted when you stubb your toe on a splinter from a desk you blew up and a rocket hits you, that is putting a little to much reality into my escapism .Leveling up the weapons was a joy and I really found rooting around the enviroments rewarding. The plot doesn't have any sense, severe abuse of jokes, many SW's rules violated, many "plot twists" are just bad ones, too much politics in the movie (girls are smart, men are stupid and violent, all white men are all nazis except for Luke, rich people are evil in many ways, etc), many dialogs are very bad. The movie is so bad that Phantom Menace looks like aThe worst SW movie ever.     As a Wolfenstein fan I wanted to like this game so bad.
    Visually it looks like very linear Fallout, except lighting on PS4 is terrible. Whites are washed out, over exposed look. Also reds are not much better, some very odd art choices. I had to turn the music way down, but I may turn it off completely since it is so annoying...
    I am writing this only 2-3 chapters in, because yesterday    As a Wolfenstein fan I wanted to like this game so bad.

I would of liked to see Wolfenstein pay homage to it's roots like the DooM reboot did to classic DooM. With the major focus on gameplay with a minimalistic story narrative.     Easily one of the most impactful campaigns I’ve ever played through in a shooter…
    Here you’re starting to spark a revolution and take back America, killing some Nazi scum…
    Wolfenstein 2 is a much more compact game compared to the original, this time only taking around 6 and a half hours to complete…
    But it’s an enjoyable 6 and a half hours...
    much more linear as well with the same concepts of taking out scouts so they don’t trigger alarms, and stealthing through areas or going in guns blazing…
    The weapon variety isn’t as vast, but you have your typical base weapons you’d expect in most shooters... but to bring some variety in, your guns are all upgradable, allowing you to add a perk to give them an entirely different feel….
    The level design isn’t that great this time around…
    it feels pretty dull and generic…
    The greatness comes in the setting and the story telling…
    when the game puts you into perspective of the world around you..
    Without the great story pieces, this is still a good shooter… but just good...
    There are no epic fights or showdowns…
    Just a bunch of running from point a to b and shooting everything in your way…
    it plays and feels how you’d expect, but no moments outside of cut scenes blew me away
    I love how the story was delivered though, in ways you wouldn’t expect and are surprising each time…
    This game will break your heart, it will give you hope, it will take it away…
    for those reasons alone, you owe it to yourself to play through this first person shooter…

    Extremely disappointed in this game. Everything feels slow and weak. The weapons are clunky and not fun to use. The enemies often blend into the bland and washed out backgrounds. Rent before buying.

    Best shooter in years, I cannot begin to describe the joy I felt playing this game. You could feel the heart, soul, and love of every little bit of thought out detail in this game. Very well **** done Machine Games. PLUS for the people that didn't like all the character building and story related elements, **** you. Games are more than just shooting ****

    It's a shame that people place reviews that are just based on one point of frustration and never a good balance of multiple elements a game has to offer. When games have micro transactions and people don't like it, the game gets rated a 1.0 even though it often is a very good game in the mix and would deserve a decent rating.     Graphics are fine.

    A few satisfying moments.....but nothing worth buying the game for....

    Honestly, if you are a game journalist, you loved this game because its what you want from every game.....phony politics--- im not even sure they are in there, but im sure they enjoyed shooting Nazis ...you know...b/c we are all Nazis if we dont live in San Fran.

    Pick it up down the road on sale, or rent it, if you still think youre interested.......very few will enjoy it enough to warrant a full price purchase.

    I predict this game will kill the current series...but dont worry they will reboot it and 5 - 7 years.    … Expand

Before I go into some depth of why I think this way I would like to state I have played Wolfenstein The New Order and beat it so to not have some comparison to its previous entry is going to be inevitable. Here are my views of the game:

    Things I like about Wolfenstein 2:
    1. Combat- The visceral, explosive and colorful sounds of Nazis being killed is always cathartic for me. I always take great pleasure in taking out as many as I can in a frenzy. This is The New Colossus's greatest strength and it shows well.
    2. World building - Collectibles are mostly good. I particularly like the music and documents along with the concept art that goes to show a believable world despite having a futuristic vibe.
    3. Character development- A significant improvement over the first game. The characters feel more than expository dumps and actually have more emotions.
    4. Slaughtering Nazis - This goes without saying and its so freaking great.
    5. Story - Surprisingly good writing in this game. Despite some issues for a big dumb action movie like script it actually has some clever moments.
    6. Weapon upgrades and perks are cool but they dont really all have the same value and some perk trees are far superior to others.
    7. Contraptions are good implementations that allow you try different approaches in areas like jumping, stretching and ramming. Adding perks on that is pretty good too.
    8. Music is great: Mick Gordon is a talented composer and musician. He is nowhere near DOOM's height, but still provides good music tracks for the ears.

    Things I dislike:
    1. Easy to die: The difficulty is too harsh and the power fantasy of killing Nazis loses its edge very easily when your health drops in the blink of an eye on even normal mode. By my 20 death count, I was already getting a bit tired.
    2. Weapon balance issues. If I can spam dual Shotguns through most of the game, then thats not good. There is hardly anything new that the sequel didnt already have. Dual wielding different types feels arbitrary and having to switch them on the fly in a firefight is tedious.
    3. First half of the story feels too slow and the second half feels too fast. I would have preferred a third part to show the actual revolution taking place, but the next game will do that I guess.
    4. You end levels by going to the objective and holding a button, disrupting the flow and have awkward moments where enemies you fight vanish in cutscenes. The UI for navigating areas is clunky and dull.
    6. Assassinating targets from the main game is boring and just padding with previous levels reused. shouldve fused them into the main game.
    7. Lots of glitches, bugs and hiccups that demand immediate fixes but not surprised anymore from a big name publisher.

    Things I'm indifferent on:
    1. Race and political commentary undertones. This is clearly trying to parallel civil rights and lots of African American, KKK, Communism and American exceptionalism seems to be rooted in this game, but some of it feels like shock value than actual critiques of the systems.
    2. Stealth is improved from the first but still feels awkward as enemies can wonky on their ais and feels like the flip of a coin on whether your tactics will work or just force you to go guns blazing.
    3. Enemy variety is lacking, but they do look more visually interesting. The first game had a solid foundation and much of the same this game has. I was expecting more from this and while there is some new enemies, there doesnt feel like theres enough to change up the tactics.
    4. Textures look great on some things and absolutely horrendous on others (like last gen level bad). This is something to see for yourself.
    5. Exploration feels like it needs more options like DOOM. There are definitely some secret areas, but it feels linear that I cant resist calling it a bit bland.
    6. Cutscenes sometimes go on for too long (overdramatizing) and some are jarring, but some are great and really well done.

    I respect Wolfenstein 2, but I cant help but feel its retreading the same ground as TNO instead of being its own game and story. The sequel bait ending, season pass DLC and preorder mission bonus all feel like the game is nowhere near complete and for a game costing $60 bucks that will take you 20-25 hours to 100% that feels like salt in the wound. Its worth a purchase for Wolfenstein fans and even shooter psychos wanting Nazi blood, but The New Colossus sacrifices too much to play safe despite some interesting moments it brings.    … Expand

    This game is fantastic. The writing is superb. The action is insane. The opening scene does not mess around. It's intense and fast and beautiful and terrifying and it deserves to be played.

The story is darker, the characters more vulnerable, and the stakes even higher. Enemies don't merely get shot, but "shredded". The graphics - in parts - are truly spectacular, and I never had an issue with the frame rate.

    So, why the 6?

    My biggest issues (1) It runs out of steam in its final acts, (2) the raw brutality is replaced by nonsensical jests, and (3) the level designs begin to all bleed together.

    The opening chapters - Ya, Ya, I know they're political/liberal - really do add some intriguing psychological layers to BJ and questions the ruthlessness of his carnage. In addition, Engel (initially) ranks up there with some of the greatest video game villains of all time. I kept thinking of The Governor from the Walking Dead comics - an ingenius sadist who (sadly) is always one step ahead.

    Unfortunately, after the "execution" - a true highlight of the game - the story becomes lost in its absurdity and loses all emotional weight. A horrid past is replaced with drunken Pig racing. Engel's omnipotent presence is made into a gameshow joke (seriously?) I completed the campaign feeling robbed and honestly thinking - did the developers forget what they were doing? Did they lose their nerve?

    Level Design - Despite coming out in 2015, the levels in TNO were much more memorable. There's nothing that matches the thrills of the Bridge level, the viciousness of the concentration camp, or the triumph of surmounting Castle Wolfenstein. While the graphics are vastly superiors in TNC, the levels felt bland and repetitive.

    Overall - For all the provocative trailers and grisly opening, TNC sadly withdraws from its savagery in favor for insanity.    … Expand

    As amazing and awesome as the last.Great graphics and controls, great story. Its not perfect. But I am giving it a 10 to counter all the S**theads who think any of this is about the current political climate. That is why there is a disproportionate number of 0s. Spoiler alert. Every Wolfenstein game since the first on Atari has Nazi bad guys. Literally every one.

    This game takes everything that worked well in the first one, redesigned everything that didn't work that well in the first one, added a way more emotional and character-driven story (as well as A LOT of crazy happenings that will make your jaw drop or you tears run from laughter) and mixed it all into one helluva great game.     Thanks to a very good map design and a lot of interesting collectibles (as well as many "readable" newspapers, diaries, letters etc which gives you insight not only into the life of the nazi soldiers but also into the lifes of the normal americans and recently arrived germans) It took me just about 20 hours from start to end on medium difficulty. The map design and all the collectibles as well as the opportunity to sneak around all enemies to try and take out the officers first (only the officers can raise the alarm and call for reinforcements) makes you actually wanting to find out what happened in the very different cities you're visiting.

    All in all, this game was a blast! Great gunplay with the possibility to upgrade almost every weapon, great level design, very graphically improved from the last game along with new shaders and lightning, great character-driven story and a lot of crazy moments that will make you remember this game for a long time makes for an extremely well crafted old school fps in a world filled with multiplayer games and loot boxes.     Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is one of my favorite games so far. What could be more funny than kill a tons of nazis. I liked second part more than first one but this part is very short.

    The cut scenes are good and the story is good, but did I buy this game solely for the cut scenes and story? Not really. I bought it for a good '89 critic score' game. The game is good, solid, smooth, but it is basic. I get that some people will say that's what they want, but to say it's better than a 7/10, I don't know what they've been smoking basically. Just keep moving and you don't get hit. . . fml), and shoot more ammo into the bullet sponges before they die. This doesn't make the game harder, it just makes it take longer to kill things.

    Conclusion: If you like just running around hip-firing like a prick in a very, very casual shooter that takes no skill, then this is the game for you. If you are like me who remembers actually good shooters like the Half-Life series then "move along, nothing to see here." Seriously, this game is everything that is wrong with modern shooters, while pretending to be an old school shooter.    … Expand

    So I'm playing this game and it is good. This one thing bothers me. At some point we are introduced to this new character "Adolf" and he's there for one scene, he's kinda quirky and I have no idea who he is and what he's even doing in there. I believe someone mentions him in the first game (they call him "main feerer" which in Wolfenstein language means president/king or a master I think) but he serves no purpose to the story. Then it hit me.

    As some of you know Wolfenstein games are based on the anime and manga series 魔法 少女マイン☆カムプフ. I have not seen any of it (though it's free on Crunchyroll) but according to wiki this character is prominent in manga/anime. So that's basically a pointless fanservice which I'm not sure I like. There is no setup and apparently he's behind EVERYTHING now!? All the death camp places and robodoggos and wars.

    So now he's going to be the main bad guy? Maybe? Which kind of sucks. Whats up with the character design being so lazy? They just made an old guy with black hair and and a mustache. Except they only modeled half the mustache in the middle of his face which looks weird (or that might be a bug). That makes him a pretty easy cosplay though.

    The rest is fine. Can't wait for Wolfenstein 3 which will definitely happen based on the ending.    … Expand

At one point she belly flops onto her fully developed pregnant belly, shields BJ from a Grenada she throws.

    To be clear, I have no problem with exceptionally strong female protagonists. Horizon Zero Dawn, the Tomb Raider franchise and the Last Of Us are at the top of my list of favorite games.     Very well written story. And I like games with good story. It is only single player (wich is very good) and it points out that single player games have still a place in market.

    One of the best Singleplayer FPS i've ever played, definitely worth picking up if you favor story and FPS shooters. But definitely need to play the first one first.
    My only big complain is the loading times can be too long and annoying at times and makes it very unfavorable to play at a harder difficulty as this only happens when you die. which happens alot at harder difficulty.

Something the devs could've fixed with a patch was the feedback of you being shot. You just don't get that you're about to die until it's too late. The upgrade system in the game is miserable and the three abilities you're given are hardly necessary and only have to be used because of the level design. Speaking of which...It's a classic Bethesda world which I don't particularly like, but it's a matter of taste I guess. Anyway. I had to put the game on hold because I simple wasn't enjoying it and finished it almost a month after just to get rid of it. The amount of positive emotions I got from the previous game I played - Horizon Zero Dawn - was incomparable. Needless to say I'm not buying any of the DLCs… Expand

The levels are fairly linear, the gunplay was poor, and I just felt like I was doing the same thing over and over. There's very little original about the game.     Pros:
    - Fantastic graphics
    - Rich sound (sound effects and music is brilliant)
    - Good selection of guns, plus fun upgrades
    - I like the 'organic' skill tree
    - You get to kill Nazis, I hate Nazis

    Cons:
    -Story is a f--king mess. The tone is totally inconsistent. It will go from deadly serious drama to slapstick comedy within the same cutscene. The story has ZERO focus and tries to make us invested in 10+ characters, but none of them are interesting. Especially that resistance leader, she is an insanely irritating character but the story won't stop spending time on her. There are INCREDIBLY interesting plot points that go nowhere, hopefully it's resolved in W3.
    -BJ is wasted. He whines and **** about this character that is killed right in the beginning, for literally 50% of the game. Even after spending hours (yes) on developing BJ, I still don't understand or care for him. Halfway through the story, something so unbelievable happens that I lost all interest in his arch.
    -The game is broken up into 40% (perhaps more) cutscenes and 60% shooting. Of the shooting, 80% is sneaking and 20% is outright action. Wolf 2 is more concerned with its poor sneaking system then letting you actually shoot **** This is actually the most f--ked up thing about this new game. Only in the VERY LAST LEVEL was I ever actually running, shooting and having fun. That's because by the end of the game I was so tired of sneaking around. For the first half, you have 50% health and on the higher difficulty level you take 1 shot before going down.
    - Seriously, did anyone playtest the hit detection on this mofo? You die instantly and there is no indication of where the attacks are coming from. BJ feels as powerful as a used tissue. I miss the Doom slayer, at least he could take a few hits before going down.
    -More on the sneaking: this game was marketed to us incorrectly. The trailers were all action action action but if you go in guns blazing, enemies will swarm at you FOREVER until you take out the captain, and this is NO WAY to know if he is above or below you. It's so frustrating. Why market it as a shooter when they were trying for a watered down Dishonored? F--king LIARS.

    Overall: WHAT A F__KING WASTE OF MY TIME.

    Update: I had to drop my difficult from the hardest to the second hardest, as the hit detection is so poor, that you'll be dead in 0.5 seconds if you even pop out of cover, making playing it as an action game impossible on that level. You have to sneak. F--k this game.    … Expand

    RPG elements are minimal.
    No other modes including online.
    It's just that, an offline FPS.

    It's a good game, but it's not worth the £50 price-tag that I paid. This was good, but could've been a whole lot better. Some of the positive reviews I have read don't give a full review, instead, they just insult anybody who negatively reviewed this game.     A wonderful game , it is no better than the first one also i cant say it bring anything new to the table, allthough is a good story and it continous the first game in a truly respectfull way , graphics are good thougn not the best, it is defenetely a really good even one of the best FPS games , it gives almost a flowless sence of shooting away nazis or anything .

    Just as good as the last with improved gameplay and visuals. Highly recommend! The story and voice acting is also better than ever! I really hope we get a Trilogy with this game

    I didn't know what o expect from this game but I can tell you that it is one of the best first person shooters I've played since bioshock. This is a must have and I am so glad I bought it. 10/10

It does not improve on the other two games which you would expect in 2017. I have played all the best fps and adventure games and this left me bored and very disappointed in comparison.     I found the controls challenging but not insurmountably so. The graphics were decent and the action was fast. My only real grievances are with the load times of both the interactive parts and the cutscenes. If only the entire game played like the opening I could honestly give it a ten in spite of those flaws, but since it’s just a power suite game and isn’t as fluid as Titanfall I’ll giveI found the controls challenging but not insurmountably so.     Full of humor, blood, and the Nazis of course. I'm lovin' it!
    It's a great sequel. And I wish that Bethesda and MachineGames will do the third part. I recommend it.

    Couldnt bring myself to finish the game, it got way to political, I like killing nazi's as much as the next guy, but I feel it was too cringey at times, and was obviously talking about the "nazi's" present in America right now. I tried my best to ignore the political message, but it was too hard at times.

    An average game with great graphics but nothing new to offer. It's fun for sure but I really don't understand why it gets so much good reviews on Metacritic. It's not deep it's just sometimes quite enjoyable. It's an ordinary game from 1997 with some good 2017 graphics. 10 hrs in enough to get through it.

    -Too expensive for such a short game (About 8-9 hours).
    -Spent +30 hours so far trying to fix games' problems with workarounds came up by the community.
    -Apparently no quality testing has been done whatsoever.
    -Part of the 'challenge/perks' tiers that were also present in TNO is counterintuitive and unclear on how to complete. They have also stopped counting progress for no clear reason, even upon correct completion.
    -Too many collectibles. Collectibles are alright, but is this is a shooter or a card and toy hunter? Way overdone, taking brutally away from the experience. Making it look like a poor excuse to extend the short playtime.
    -Compared to previous Wolfenstein games (and this is coming from a fan who owns every one of them since the very first one came out) some sections of this game have INCREDIBLE poor level design, and are frankly, boring - a first for Wolfenstein.
    -Save data erased / all progress lost - 3 times.
    -Saves that you actually do might want deleted, can't be done so from in-game menu, and instead require to be manually deleted in the game's save folder like the 90's - an era where games were actually functional from day 1.    … Expand

    I would have given this a 9, but now the latest PS4 patch has hosed all my save games with a dozen hours lost. The previous patch only hosed my in-mission progress, now every save game refuses to load (str_online_connection_error_03 followed by frozen game) - same as a large number of others. Such shoddy updates completely ruin an otherwise great game.

    Same problem as with the Doom, a lot of mindless shooting which in this game would be fine if sound of guns isn't dull/weak/suppressed, pubg for example has nice gun sounds.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Overall the story development, and mechanics are fairly spot on for this game. I was a big fan of the reboot from a couple years ago and had I hopes for this and for the most part it totally delivered.

    Instead of going on about how great this game I'll point out my two major issues in which caused a 7/10
    1. When the game stops becoming about killing Nazi's and starts pushing **** white people, that's when I am bothered. I get wearing the shoe on the other foot, however when is the line drawn between the difference of a Nazi and a white person. clearly two different things in our culture today. Yet the writers persisted on having a major cut scene yelling **** white people.

    2. Gun wheel/selection mechanic is still the biggest gripe for me and has gotten worst since the first. Dual-wielding etc is just such a mess. Honestly at this point the only thing that will fix it, is a time pause while you switch weapons since it is just so god damn tedious.    … Expand

    The minute i started playing i seemed like a old game. Then i had to choose someone to kill to advance. So i decided not to choose to see what happens. Nothing. I could stay all week and none got chosen for me. So, this is how you waste millions? Lack some testing first. Uninstall dont even want to see the rest.

    I never played a Wolfenstein game before, but I got this one because I liked the trailer at Papa Johns. I'm happy I got it because it is one of the best shooters I played in a long time. The story and characters are excellently written. I was looking for a challenge too, so I picked the hardest difficulty on my first play and got a brutal beatdown for every mistake I made.

    Game starts almost instantly after first part ends, you still playing for BJ. From the first minutes game makes you understand that it is very creative and original. Then you realize that game mechanocs are improved and shooting feels fluent and fast paced and very satisfying, I would say shooting is the best part of this game. Elga is back and she is a very fun vilian, all scenes with her are so memorable. Soundtrack is rad and feels badass. There is some non shooting moments in the game and I think these moments are reasons why this game can consider as an art. Tarantino aspired moments its what will stuck in my head for a long time.
    Sometimes I did not like how game was transitioning in game cutscenes to pre rendered ones. It feels very woobly. The biggest problem for me is the ending. It feels rushed and abrupt. I do not understand why most of the games nowadays have weak ending.
    But overall is a very enjoyable game and I finished it in few sittings.    … Expand

I have never felt a shooter handle so effortlessly like this one, I was able to pull off amazing moves, and it helps when every enemy you kill feels satisfying in some way. Top that off with a maze like level design that makes sure you can play stealthy or go guns blazing. This is how gameplay in a shooter should be done. The New Colossus runs you in at about 8 hours of gameplay, which is disappointing for a 80 dollar game, but it’s the moments in between, the gameplay that adds the replay value.… Expand

The main gripe I had was the faces of characters in game, which were not as impressively modeled as the environments.

    GAMEPLAY
    You can choose to go guns blazing, full stealth or a mix of both. I mostly went stealth with slow and deliberate exploration of each level. When sh*t hits the fan, that's when I pull out the big guns, dual wield them and go to town on them Nazis!! It's a very satisfying and rewarding gameplay loop. Taking out commanders silently before they can raise the alarm never gets old. Sidequests and assassination missions mean that ai could revisit levels and get all the collectibles that I missed during the main mission. This allowed me to enjoy the story without worrying of missing out on any collectible/lore or unexplored areas.

    My main complaint about gameplay would be damage feedback. A lot of times when I die, I didn't even realize I was being shot at and from which direction. Gunplay feels a lot like Doom 2016 only more frustrating because of the lack of feedback and some tough difficulty spikes.

    STORY
    I enjoyed the story and getting attached to the characters. I tried to find every single lore on each level which gave the in-game characters and enemies more depth, and also adding on to the general plot. This makes the story more impactful and allowed me to empathize with Blazkowicz and gang, even some if the Nazis. I highly recommend going slow and taking your time to explore instead of run-and-gun to the next objective.

    Overall, as an FPS based purely on single player mode with no multiplayer, Wolfenstein 2 ticks all the right boxes. I cannot wait for Wolfenstein 3!!    … Expand

    The detail is amazing. Although the levels are not big, they are well thought and designed with more items than exist in most games. The detail is a such a supreme effort that Bethesda even included original music for the Nazi occupied 1960s. The cutscenes are simply insane, and I give kudos to Bethesda for topping one insane scene with an even more insane scene. In terms of look and feel, this game is an 11 out of 10.

    The gameplay, however, is stuck in the past. There is a reason that Halo was so popular in 2001. The game dispensed with the usual gameplay of clearing out a level and then scouring the area for ammo and health packs. Scouring a level slows down gameplay and is not all that fun. Halo had a relentless drive that made it so fun and replayable. Activision soon followed the Halo formula for Call of Duty and now every modern shooter benefits from Halo-like gameplay. This is why I am befuddled that Bethesda relies so much on the old school shooting in Wolfenstein II. You might notice that the Doom reboot also has the same old school gameplay, and Doom also has only so much appeal.

    I think Wolfenstein might have benefited from going in a direction of either more action or more of exploration. The level of detail is well done but only goes so far on a small scale. The enemies are interesting but paced because the mechanics do not support mass encounters. Some enemies like giant walking tanks are easily destroyed by shooting through a doorway. Waves of low level enemies are deadly because the computer has no problem with hitting a moving target. (Even the great Halo understood this, and all the enemy weapons have significant travel time.) So you have a game where the boss fights are uninteresting and the low level fights can be frustrating and un-fun. Some fights are inspired, like the time I destroyed a half dozen Nazi’s in the one tight corridor on an underground train or the utterly gratuitous sequence where I piloted a giant flame throwing robot dog. Most of the fights are the same old same old. It is good to see the laser rifle back. Less is done with this weapon than in the last game, but it remains a great time for all.

    Full disclosure: I bought this game used off of Gamestop for about $5. I feel bad now because despite the gameplay, I enjoyed the full package. The campaign is meaty and well worth the cost of admission.    … Expand

    Bethesda once again proves itself as a gaming reference in single player shooter. They have grown as one of my favorite studios. Wolfenstein 2 evolved from Wolfenstein 1 in everything: gameplay, violence, weapons, history, level design, narrative, action. This is one of my favorite single player campaigns I've ever played to date.

As soon as it lets that go however - it shines. The action picks up, the plot picks up, the levels become varied and incredible.

    Overall - I loved it. I love the new Wolfenstein series. But if you don't like them, or aren't willing to push through and annoying first few hours... avoid it. And for the love of god, consider playing it on an easier difficulty than you're used to, it is DAMN hard.

    A great FPS that does have some dull looking missions, but makes up for that with the game-play. The game-play here is extremely fun and difficult. The story, although not amazing and has an abrupt ending, is very fun and has some great moments.

    Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is an FPS that makes a ton of good to great decisions, but also a handful of poor ones. Tightly crafted gameplay is marred by adherence to genre conventions, and the narrative gets off to a slow start as the game decides what it wants to be. However, neither of those are enough to drag this down too much, as it is simply too well put together and has more than enough personality and fun to poke through the layer of seriousness draped over the first parts of the campaign. What is left is a game that can stand as a very fine example of its genre, if not quite a groundbreaking one.

    The second part continues in the footsteps of its predecessor and does not bring any major changes. However, it brings a hectic, explosive action accompanied by an excellent, though sometimes too exaggerative story.

    Shocking, silly and brutal, BJ's comeback spins an enjoyable, if tonally confused, yarn. Despite its issues, this is still a rollicking thoughtfully driven shooter. [Christmas 2017, p.93]
