When i first start out this game , is kind of boring cuz the plot was quite confusing...gameplay is ok but GTA is much more better , driving the car is really hard ,keep crush onto human or house , hard to control the car , the only fun part is when u hack into camera and explode the gang member ..not really worth , buy only if u have spare cash.

This game disappointed me greatly. Not only does it not live up to it's hype, but it just feels so... unfinished. It handles poorly with driving and the horn sounds on vehicles are very annoying. The story doesn't feel like one that needs finishing and is very similar to a lot of other games. Tasks become a chore after a while and the rewards are not very impressive or useful. Vastly over-hyped by both the developers and the fans, and terribly undelivered as a result. Watch Dogs was marketed as a "next-gen" pioneer with groundbreaking graphics and game-play, and fell flat. Is it a good game? No, it has many problems. Is it a bad game? No, it still has redeeming qualities. What is it really, then? A painfully average and underwhelming game.

The biggest and most noticeable shortcoming of Watch Dogs is that the graphics are not what they were advertized in previous trailers and events, and as a result the game looks substantially less amazing than any of us would have thought. Because of this, the game looks like a letdown. Secondly, the advertized story is completely abysmal with few (if any) likable or complex characters, including the supposed hero, Aiden, who is extremely dull. The story is extremely lackluster and doesn't really achieve anything beyond a simple revenge story with a few detours here and there, while the ending is quite clearly leaving it open for a sequel. Hence, Watch Dogs is not a well written game and it is NOT worth getting for it's story, and I would personally not play the campaign any more than once. The next major problem with Watch Dogs is that outside of the main story, there isn't much to replay in the world itself. Sure, there are the minigames and activities (Poker, Chess, Hacking, unlocking the map, clearing enemy hideouts, etc.) that you would expect from open world games, but there isn't anything particularly amazing with the world itself that makes you want to explore or do something over and over again. Due to this, Watch Dogs is an overall disappointment in these areas.

However, there are redeeming qualities to this game. First, the sound design/mixing and character modelling is top notch, and something that you may take for granted but should appreciate. Secondly, the world design is beautiful, and every NPC feels alive more so than any other open world game. Instead of being a faceless clone, every NPC in Watch Dogs has some sort of story or secret, making them more unique than most other NPCs in other games. This makes your initial gameplay experience more special than other games, and is something Watch Dogs should be commended on.

Easily the best part of Watch Dogs is the hacking feature, which lets us interact with the world in ways we rarely see in other open world games. We can move the environment, blow steam pipes, change traffic lights, hack phones, stop trains, set off car alarms, and even cut the power to the whole city. This is where you will undoubtedly have fun and this is what the game is worth getting for. The additional online multiplayer features also utilize this feature, and the Online Hacking and Online Tailing game modes present a unique experience that pits you up against another player, in which anything can happen. As you pursue a player to hack them, you can approach it in any way - Cut the power, cause car accidents, blow gas mains, run in guns blazing for the laughs, or approach them with ninja-like stealth and then hide as you hack them. Regardless of whether you are hacking another player or being hacked by another player, the experience is a combination of tenseness, horror, panic, intelligence, improvisation, and cheekiness, and it is worth buying the game to experience this. Without a doubt, this saves Watch Dogs from being a bad game.

Overall, Watch Dogs has some fun experiences but is hindered by the shortcomings in important elements of the game, making it not bad and not good, but rather a painfully average game that could have been so much more.

You name it and it is a side mission in this game. The multiplayer brings new elements to the next-gen experience and really shows of what is possible in gaming. This game is not a copy of another series, those games should be copying this as it has fresh new ideas and the story is also the whole game world in which you play. Watch Dogs is without a doubt a game that will be talked about for a very long time! Whether you are exploring the beautifully detailed world, taking part in one of the varied story missions or saving an innocent man from the hands of those who mean him harm everything feels extremely well done! The story is consistently interesting and never really has a dull moment, you will be asking yourself the questions "who?" and "why?" all the way up until those final credits roll! The only thing that took me out of the experience was the steep learning curve when it came to the driving, at first it feels very unresponsive which isn't very fitting seeing as they make Aiden out to be "the best driver in Chicago". However, you will quickly learn to maneuver with skill while driving and this is what bring me to my favorite part of Watch Dogs! You constantly feel yourself getting better! After every mission you complete you will feel yourself becoming a faster hacker, a better shot or just more smooth operator! It is this sense of progression that made Watch Dogs great for me, and along with a great story as well as an impressive showing of the PS4's power make this what will surely be an instant classic! The driving is incredibly bad and not overly fun.

The idea of the smartphone hacking is cool, considering you see people on their phones everyday/everywhere, but in playing the game it just seems repetitive and somewhat boring.

They did a good job of making a dynamic environment but there is a lot of weird crap that can happen. For example, early into the game while scanning for crimes I would find that the potential suspect or criminal could be detected through a build, while outside of the "crime zone", triggering the event and I would literally have no opportunity to see what was going on. As a result, multiple interventions failed because you could not get around the building in time to do anything.

Better still, would be random tutorials that pop up midchase or mid-quest. Most of the time it is for something completely unrelated to the quest you are on.

Anyways, this is just my opinion. I have tried to get into it and will definitely try again. That said, if you are borderline either way for a big price drop, rent it, or borrow from a friend before heading out to add it to your collection.

First lets start with the PROS
+The soundtrack for Watch Dogs (Not the radio stations) is really great
    +Well detailed map
+Game looks beautiful especially when its raining during night or when there's a sunset
+The supporting cast is well developed and interesting
+The crime interventions are fun (There's a con for this too)
+The information that is given to you while you hack a AI really does make the world feel alive
    +Really fun cop chases
+There's a large quantity of side missions when you're not doing the main quest
+The hacking really does help in combat, and extremely fun to use
    +Great visuals
+Multiple ways to approach, stealth, guns blazing, or just hacking your way in without being detected at all
+Hacking another player is tense, since the player is always looking for you, while being hacked, and trying to look for the player who's hacking you, can be really fun
+The multiplayer mode that's somewhat capture the flag, can be a fun experience
    And here are the CONS
    -Lackluster story
-Aiden's personality (main character) feels empty, and at times you couldn't care less for Aiden
-There's some bugs that can be game breaking like for example trains stop automatically when a vehicles are in front them
-A HUGE misstep of the cop chases is that you can escape them, with a taxi boat, no kidding
-The songs in the radio are not really great
-Driving could feel a little bit wonky
-Playing multiplayer could lead to a lot of lagging and screen tearing
-Playing Free Roam with other players feels empty, because there is no missions to do
-The themes that Watch Dogs are a mixed bag
-Feels formulaic, especially if you played the Assassin's Creed Series, or Far Cry 3
-Watch Dogs has a lot of Pop in (Stuff coming out of nowhere, like AI, benches, cars, etc.) to the point its really noticeable, and considering that Grand Theft Auto 5 is Last-Gen and has less Pop in that you really couldn't tell if there was, really does blow my mind
And the number one CON that have with this game is...................................... REPETITIVE SIDE MISSIONS! Each side mission feels exactly the same mission you completed before.
Watch Dogs isn't the Next-Gen game you were expecting, instead you get a dumbed down version of the original game from E3, probably because of Last- Gen, or they wanted parity between consoles and PC, no I have not played the PC version, but I heard it was poorly optimized when they ported the game to PC
Otherwise its a solid start for a new franchise, if you're planning to buy this game, I recommend you wait till the price drops

Even though Watch Dogs might have fallen short of everyone's expectations, that doesn't mean that Watch Dogs is a bad game. Quite the opposite. Watch Dogs manages to be an impressive new IP that manages to make a name for itself and stand on its own.

The unique mechanic and selling point of Watch Dogs is hacking. All of Chicago is hooked up to a single network known as cTOS. Almost every piece of technology you find is linked together, including computers, phones, cars, and even all the cameras in the city. Your character Aiden is able to hack into all of this technology using his smart phone, and it's the one thing that gives Watch Dogs it's niche in the open world genre. Hacking is fun, and you can useful in multiple ways, including stealth.

Stealth segments are superb, and are easily the most enjoyable aspect of the game. With well-done cover to cover mechanics helping you keep hidden, and fast take downs to minimize chances of detection. What makes stealth better is using your phone to hack the cameras in the area, allowing you to mark enemies so you can see them through walls, and letting you trigger all of the traps and hazards to kill your enemies. Blowing up power boxes to kill nearby enemies or cutting power and making you less visible to your enemies was always satisfying. Also, you can use the enemies own technology against them, activating enemy grenades, or distracting them with their phones.

Aside from that, you can also hack during car chases. There are so many hazards in the city to hack, including traffic lights, underground steam pipes, and even road blockers. All of these are useful and are great for taking enemies out, whether you're chasing them or being chased yourself, and are great to use when outnumbered. They're also easy to use because the game uses a prompt to activate them, so you never have to actually look at the hazards to use them. I took out a ton of enemies without even knowing where they're coming from, and I loved it.

One thing I like in Watch Dogs is an effective fast travel system. Chicago's a huge city, and an effective fast travel system was needed, which is something a lot of open world GTA type games lack. You unlock these by hacking puzzle based towers, similar to Assassin's Creed and Far Cry 3.

However, Watch Dogs isn't perfect. Like Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed franchise, Watch Dogs has a wealth of side content. Unfortunately, Ubisoft usually sacrifices quality for their side missions in favor of providing more of them. However, this means that the side content ends up being generic and nowhere is this more true than in Watch Dogs. Unlike Assassin's Creed, which had a few memorable missions, Watch Dogs has nothing. Even the investigation missions - which had a chance to be something worth while -amount to little more than the typical side mission.

Speaking of which, Ubisoft's tendency to add so much side content usually means that a lot of other aspects of the game come up short, and this includes the story. The first flaw with the story you notice is in Aiden himself. Aiden is not particularly interesting, or likable for that matter. Plus, he has absolutely no background, which means why he's able to hack the city with ease or handle his arsenal of weapons effortlessly remains of mystery. There was nothing on this guy in the campaign or the side content. Luckily, the supporting cast easily help to make up for Aiden's shortcomings, but the problems don't stop there. The cTOS network is set up to be this evil corporation, but the game never does a good job of making that clear. Aiden seems more of a menace to the city than cTOS ever was. DedSec, the people fighting cTOS are hardly given any screen time. Lastly, the ending is the worst part of the campaign. The ending is sudden, ends abruptly, and sequel baits so cheaply.

The Car on Demand app is cool, which summons a car to park nearby, but there's no garage mechanic, allowing you to save vehicles. Because of this, there's no customization or a way to personalize your cars. Driving controls are the floatiest of any game I've ever played. If you're used to any other form of driving, you will hate the feel of the cars, constantly peeling out and having an overall lack of control. Plus, here's no way to shoot while driving. Sure, you can hack in the city to disable vehicles, but there's nothing to hack on the highways, and you end up there often enough to where shooting becomes necessary. Combining shooting with the focus ability, which slows down time, would've been perfect for shooting out tires or taking out drivers.

Lastly, the graphics are not what Ubisoft promised. The trailers and demos look way better than what's here, but that doesn't mean they're bad.

Overall, while flawed, Watch Dogs high points far outweigh the bad, and ends up being a great game that could eventually end up being a great franchise. With the obvious sequel set up and great sales, we'll see more of Watch Dogs eventually.

The hacking route requires no strategy though, it basically just takes the "enemies hiding behind explosive barrels" thing and replaces it with "enemies hiding behind HACKABLE explosive barrels".

I love the genre and played all GTAs, and Saints Rows (also great but unlike this game has actually differentiated itself).

This game is just fun. It is a delight to run around and stop crimes, screw with people, mess with police, hack into other people's worlds and watch laughing as they stand only feet away from you, yet cannot find you hiding in that old car. The civilian AI is stupid and can become annoying at times, but they would have to be stupid to fall for the traffic light hack. The only downside is that in mid-firefight the controls can get a little crazy, but other than that, this is an amazing game. Expand

For a triple A title I was sincerely disappointed with the game play. I simply didn't have fun and the game felt pointless and monotonous to me. The story didn't grab me and about 4 hours in I knew that I was going to regret my purchase. The environment didn't feel alive to me to be honest. It lacked grit I suppose.

It's not what we were promised, that's for sure. But it's still fun. The campaign is long and intriguing (the characters are pretty dull though), the hacking system is a new and fresh open world experience and the graphics are...ok. Not next-gen, but ok. The side-missions are fun at first, but after they become repetitive. What really saved this game from a 6 is the multiplayer. So damnIt's not what we were promised, that's for sure. It's ridiculous how many users **** on this game! The open world of Watch Dogs feels alive and the shooting mechanics is simply the best! Sure, the characters could be more interesting and the campaign could be longer, but overall its the great game!

Watch Dogs has a plentiful supply of action and also has an enjoyable amount of stealth, as you can easily get out of harms way if you are not a stealth oriented person thanks to the fluid movement and shooting mechanics. Throughout the game are random encounters with criminal activity and other side missions were you must stop the criminals either by lethal or non lethal means, this choice allows you to choose if you want to be a hated vigilante or a praised batman like vigilante. Hacking which plays a big role in the game is just as fun as blowing someones head off with a shotgun in game, hacking through your mobile phone is as easy as it is customizable, the fluid camera to camera movement allows you to see the entire battlefield and manipulate anything with a wifi connection to kill enemies and move things to better afford movement. The driving and hacking makes running from the otherwise difficult police a breeze as you can manipulate almost anything on and off the road to accompany your escape.

There are some faults to the game though, even minor as they are they can still get on your nerves. If you go into watch dogs expecting GTA esque car driving and shooting you will be disappointed as the driving is more like the driving you get from sleeping dogs and you are not able to shoot from your car. The apparel customization while fun and colourful is beaten down by the fact that you can not preview the expensive clothing before you buy it. There is very little gun customization which is odd for a game with so many firearms in it, an example being the only way to customize your gun is to unlock the same one with a silencer of other attachment through uplay (which you must connect to if you would like to unlock any of the cool things it has.)

The online portion of the game borders on fun and annoying as you can jump into anyones game without them knowing and chase them around stealing their money. On the other hand people can jump into your game without you knowing and steal your money, while fun at times the amount of people joining your game in a day can get really annoying.

In short Watch Dogs is a great game that has some minor annoyances that add up to a single issue, the game could have been refined into a more seamless game earning it a 7 out of ten from me.

You got me Ubisoft. So much hype, positive critic reviews that just gloss over this games flaws, and more hype. This game is broken and boring. Vehicular combat is atrocious, shooting is boring, hacking is a barebones gimmick disguised as a deep mechanic. It looks terrible on the PS4, the city feels dead. Absolutely not impressive. Large open world, but move on it becomes a burden after the fifth mission. Gameplay unnecessarily complicated, we have to pretend to be hackers, instead of a simple way to pass the level

There are some interesting ideas, but it diluted by ordinariness of world

Watch Dogs is a fun open world experience. However, the repetitive chases and the formulaic gameplay tend to get tedious and boring after a while. As such, you might want to enjoy the different multiplayer experiences and take frequent breaks to just roam around the city.

It’s a bold first step on the new terrain for Ubisoft. The game is enjoyable, offers some interesting mechanics and lasts for long enough, but is bland as a whole. The characters lack personalities, the city could use more distinctness and the story is instantly forgettable. [07/2014, p.46]

Overall, it is almost without a doubt the best platformer that has popped up on the current generation of consoles and is a bedrock on which Ubisoft could build a brand to remember.
