    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Watch Dogs 2 is a game that suffers from the bad reputation of the first game. However, I must say that the game was a very pleasant surprise, because I did not notice almost any bugs and glitches during my walktrough.

Yes, as in every game, AI has its flies, if I tried hard, I would find imperfections in textures. But what I didn't like about the game was the very bad driving model.

Yes, as in every game, AI has its flies, if I tried hard, I would find imperfections in textures.

But what I didn't like about the game was the very bad driving model. It was really, really too arcade. I give a point down for that.

The game offers so many possibilities of progress that you will not use all of them during one walktrough.

As for the story, it seemed a bit chaotic to me and it took me a while to get my bearings. The main villain Dušan Němec looks insignificant. It often seemed to me during the game that the creators put too much humor on the dialogues. As a result, some dialogues are simply embarrassing. But everyone has a different kind of taste in humor, so if someone laughed, I don't mind.

So, in addition to the already mentioned driving model, the game took all the good from the first part and further improved it (for example, the possibility of piloting a drone or a jumper). In the end, I rate a decent score of 8/10, because I really enjoyed the game and in the future I will definitely return to it, at least for a while.

The best thing I loved about graphics was the leaves falling from trees, and how amazing the city of San Francisco is. I like how this game is more based on hacking than shooting, which points out the title of the game. They also managed to deal with the driving issues Watch Dogs has, but still it is not perfect. Some enemies are a little bit like bulletproof, but it is not really an issue. Online features are not really so good as the game, they could have improved it, but still you can spend some few extra hours on online mode as well. Expand

Characters and the story is 2 dimensional. Story is poor. Gameplay has improved since the first game but the story got worse. Caharacters are so shallow that I for the first time in a long time I have skipped quite a lot of cutscenes.side stories are not interesting either. Glad it is finished.

Not a bad story about young people who, in the course of the story, are responsible for their antics at the beginning of the game (they wanted to help the city, but in the end they did not do anything good) and gradually mature. Very good graphics except for reflections on cars and buildings. The physics of the cars is still bad, but it is the best in the series (if you remember Legion even good). If you are not a GTA fanatic you will like the game. GTA fans do not perceive anything except GTA as an open-world game (in part 5 it even degraded compared to part 4). Expand

The collisions with cars are just dumb, you can ride your motorbike right into a truck and.. well nothing happens... at all... you just bounce away...

The problem is dead Open World and Primitive gameplay itself. It's not even about bad graphics or stupidiest representation hacking nihilists(because current gen is really weak + second one is you artistic vision on hacking society, okay)

Open World is still imitated and not alive. No ragdoll, no physics, no random NPC behavior, no such sandbox. I'm not saying you should make complete GTA clone or even Bethesda's Open World TES of Fallout but if you create open world - it must be sandboxic and with nice physics for interesting free roam in 2016...

There's no such sandbox in Open World but cheap imitation of life in scripts and sprites which makes free-roam very boring. A lot of scripted NPC's with different movements but still unfree and so dead. Why can't you get that they need freedom and intellect, like in GTA.

Gameplay is still scripted and way to casual. And when I say casual i'm not saying it's just easy to complete. Casual is gameplay itself. There's lack of inner mechanics. No such manual parkour but sctript that works by just holding one button. No combat system and lack opportunity to decide what to do with enemy(grab, stun, punish) but just take it down with yo-yo-script turned on by pressing single button.

Tapping hacks is okay but press X to parkour and press X to take down - is just boring.

Game lacks other activities, like kind of business, micro-economic model, may even deweloping our own webs of infrastuctures etc. Yes, I do understand, maybe it's not about your vision of Marcus but you could make special ingame mechanics of different side activity).

That's all yet. The biggest problem is with gameplay and Open World.

City is very well made, the game is incredibly nice to look it. The problems come with the story, characters and general gameplay.

Gameplay is very repetitive after 5/6 hours, few upgrades change a mission or 2 but the general idea is sneak in to a compound, steal "X" and leave. If you're seen, shoot everything and everybody.

It seems Ubisoft don't know where to take this Franchise, they created a dark story first time...then switched to something which never takes itself seriously with some of the most annoying characters i've ever played with in a game.

In saying that, it is fun enough to play in short bursts, would recommend it to someone at half the price it is currently, maybe pick it up in March/April when its come down in price..

Hopefully by that point, all the online stuff will be sorted!

the drama has gone and is only a millenial story with no sense and a lot of stupid topics and you loose interest to continue playing because the story is very very bad compared with wd1.

gameplay: the story missions are very good but just at the first half of the game bevause you can do the missions by a lot of ways but when yuu reach the half of the game the gameplay is so repetitive and boring sometimes because you know how to it.

graphics: the graphics of this game are good but not the best graphics.

bugs: of course we are talking about a ubisoft game so... this time this game doesn´t has a lot of bugs compared to the wd1 but the bugs that this game has are insignificant because the bugs on this game are only textures bugs, invicible walls, etc. but the bigs on this game doesn´t get to the point to restart the game or the level that you are playing.

online: this game has one of the worst servers ever made, really. you can take like 20min and theres no matchmaking or if you have been invaded by another player the connection fails and you cant conclude the game invation.

conclusion: if you like a great story this game is NOT for you.
if you like doing the missions by your way this game is for you.

I got the game earlier this week because I mistakenly hopped on board the hype train. I played the first one all the way through, and was sorely disappointed with the lack of features and content. It was this massive open world with not much to do. I mean, it has the (now) infamous Ubisoft style outposts and the gazillion collectibles the developer has become known for. The driving sucked, the story was cliche, and the missions were so repetitive. The gameplay could be summarized as "bang, bang, vroom, vroom, hack." What did the sequel do about this? Sorta nothing. It copy and pasted the hacking style of gameplay, and didn't change anything about the shooting mechanics. Also, the driving is still garbage, and bikes are the dominant form of transportation. Bikes can literally break the pvp invasion mode. If the invader is caught in mid-hack, and gets on a bike, they can weave in and out of traffic, and they control better than any car in the game. Literally every car controls as if the road is ice. It's terrible and annoying. Just go play any good open world game with driving like GTA V or Sleeping Dogs and you will immediately understand what I mean. Why is Ubisoft getting away with selling a mediocre game? It's practically the same as the first game, just with parkour and hipster clothing. In it's defense, San Francisco looks absolutely gorgeous and the parkour animations are very fluent. The game looks great, but that's about it. There are practically no changes to the multiplayer, which was one of the biggest problems with the first game. The E3 trailer for the first Watch Dogs had me hooked immediately. Seriously, go watch it, and you'll immediately understand why this game got so much hype. The multiplayer is what sold me on it. The ability to romp around Chicago with your buddies and hack your way through various missions seemed really fun, but that never existed. I don't know why, but there were no co-op missions in the game. The second game has these, but they are all just outposts. Why even give the missions different names if they are all just outposts? It's like Ubisoft put no effort into designing the "fun" aspect of the game. The design aspect is on point, and everything looks like it should, and the NPCs behave like they should, but it's not fun. It will get old very quickly. Every missions can be boiled to to "drive here, infiltrate this, hack that, done." Play the game and tell me I'm wrong. This completely diminishes whatever replay value this game had. There is no story variety, and the characters are just unlikable. There is no depth to them. Marcus is just a hacker and hacks for the sake of hacking. Aidan at least had the revenge arch going for himself. That's the difference between Marcus and Aidan. Aidan has a purpose. Yeah, you could argue that Marcus has one too, but it's not as powerful as Aidan's struggle. yes, his was cliche, but it was powerful and relateable none the less.

Bottom line, this game sucks. Don't buy it. It's only slightly better than the first one. You'd be better off buying GTA V or Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition if you want you're pew pew, open world, driving fix.

The only thing that could make them better (for me) would be if I actually played PS4 on a regular basis (I mainly play PC but screw waiting another few weeks I got exams then). The story is, in my opinion, pretty good, but I have yet to get out of the first 2.5 hours that everyone has already seen on YouTube, so take that with a grain of salt. Graphics are stunning, absolutely NO downgrading. The E3 demo is true to the real game.

I could see how someone might say that makes this game an 8/10 or 7/10 because of lack of actually innovation, but to that I say this isn't a new IP it's a sequel but I can understand how some might confuse that as it feels like it re-invented Watch Dogs 1 (we never really got the hacking game we wanted until now). I however am giving this a 9/10 because not only did they fix their mistakes, but they've been really good about not over hyping this game as well, and even being transparent about the seamless multiplayer issue that would have caused problems had they left it the way it was. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First of: The tutorial of the game is almost non excistent. they dont show you the basics except for taking cover. FAAAAAAANTASTIC for your everyday hacking skills.

Second: The Free roaming is absolutly one of the most boring things ived ever come across.
the car chases is not thrilling or exciting in any way.

Third( and this might just be me, but): the steering of vehicles are "fat" and "clunky". and when you drive into stuff (on a motorcycle fx.) you dont fall off. not even remotely realistic in any way, what so ever.

Forth: ffs ubisoft, let us skip the **** cut scenes if we want to !!

Fifth: npc's are zombies, no ragdoll physics, and everybody you steal money from have between 40-60 dollars ??? are people in san fransico broke or something?

although the graphics actually do look good, and the whole concept of hacking into the government is great.

but the execussion of the idea, not so much!!

the game deserves a solid 1. not only because its not finished but also because there is no difference from the first game. right now they are just milking the franchise instead of coming out with new and improved game that you should feel excited about.

    Step it up Ubisoft.

First off, the game looks freaking beautiful, the stealth and combat system is smooth AF.
The Parkour/Freerunning is fast and looks good.

It showcased a new way of interacting in a sandbox game with the use of a intricate smart phone that can hack city traffic lights or sewage explosions. The game was unbelievably hyped for the look of the game and the many mechanics that was promised for the final retail only to end with a disappointing payoff as the graphics were downgraded to function with the 6th generation consoles with half of the mechanics removed shortly before the release. Watch Dogs was heavily criticized for being very underwhelming and not living up to the expectations of the hype based on the excellent E3 2012 demo. The game was also criticized for having a unlikable protagonist and a story was stretched that it was hard to really understand the actual motive of the main protagonist goals. The game wasn't all bad though. The hacking in Watch Dogs was a fun addition to the game, using it to advanced through difficult situations and evading pursuers. Now with the sequel released a week ago, does the game take bigger steps than it's predecessor or does it fall in the same line as the first?

Story - This time, the player controls a different protagonist named Marcus Holloway, a hacker that joined the hacker group named Dedsec in which him and his teammates try to take down Blume and the ct0s system that monitors everyday lives in which also oversees habits that determine the payments to coverage for anything. The story and characters are more light hearted and humorous at times which is an exact opposite of the mood based on the first Watch Dogs, which was serious and dark. Marcus as a character is more likable than the first protagonist Aiden Pierce, as Marcus is more relaxed and easy going to relate to, but Marcus is too much of the "norm" to really feel for the character struggles. The best one out of the bunch is Wrench which I wished the game was based on more with his snappy personality and carefree attitude.

Graphics - Watch Dogs 2 sets in a recreation of San Francisco with beautiful scenery and accurate depictions of actual San Francisco. Without restrictions of the 6th generation consoles, they can optimize the game to work even better than the first. Character models look fantastic with nice textures on each main NPC. The lighting of the game also illuminates better as shading envelopes into a better layout than the first. The only problem I have is when it rains in the game, it doesn't look as good as it did on the first, which actually made the first Watch Dogs look above average as the streets were glistering and heavy on the streets on Chicago. Here, it's just mediocre to look at.

Gameplay - Watch Dogs 2 still retains the hacking ability but with more options. With the ct0s 2.0 system integrating throughout San Francisco, Marcus gets different abilities such as hacking into cars or setting up proximity bombs around circuit-breakers to neutralize enemies with an electric shock to disrupting phone interruptions in a 25 meter radius. There is so much variety for each mission structure which gives the game a more fluid design on it's gameplay.

Overall, I am enjoying the game with its new setting, characters, and gameplay options. The few gripes with this game though is the multiplayer is not working at all and once I was done with the game, there was nothing really to do after except trophy hunting. For right now, I would say wait for a sale or until Ubisoft patches the multiplayer to make the consumer get what they are paying for.

I should tell you that even with all the controversy around the first Watch Dogs game I really enjoyed my time with it. Though it did come out a day after I initially purchased a PS4, so I probably could have played any game and thought it was good at the time. Regardless, Watch Dogs 2 does improve a lot of what the first game had. Marcus is not the average grumpy anti-hero bent on revenge kind of character. He is funny, a pop culture nerd, and black. Pretty much the EXACT opposite of Aiden lol. The game controls are super fluid. Driving is pretty much the same as the first game, but imo that is a good thing. I liked the way the cars handle. In terms of "boots on the ground" game play Marcus is quick on his feet and most of the time super precise. I do wish the developers would have put more emphasis on the "parkour" aspect. Remember how in the first game if you kept Aiden running and just held down O on ps4, Aiden would automatically jump, slide, or roll through certain obstacles? Marcus does this also, and it looks really cool the way he flips, and somersaults around, but doesn't really effect the way you tackle missions. I would have loved to upgrade a skill tree that is more or less based on free-running. Marcus relies a lot more on hacking than Aiden did which I like a lot. My only problem is that picking up a gun and shooting people is really at odds with Marcus' character. I'm sure a lot of players don't really care about all that, and it certainly isn't a big deal, it just feels kind of weird. Other that that though Watch Dogs 2 is really fun and for the most part improves on everything that was wrong with the first game. Marcus is a giant step up from Aiden and It's light hearted tone and "gta like" environment style makes it a joy to play. This game is definitely worth the 60 bucks. Expand

    +Self-aware script and dialogue
+Grounded enough to be speculative satire.
+Unconventional characters not typically used by most developers.

    Downgrades from Watch_Dogs 1 (that I noticed)
-Explosions are basically immediate kills to yourself whereas in the original it causes a staggering animation. (This may make multiplayer less fun unless this only applies to Single-player)
-Animations are pretty much downgraded from the first game, mobility doesn't seem as realistic in the sequel.
-Much more convoluted controls, harder to focus on certain aspects as you gain new abilities. (Such as Equipping tools and accessing NPC's profiles.)

Overall, this might just be one of the best open-world sandbox games out there, depending on what you're looking for. To get the most out of it, you should be prepared to explore and do the side-quests, otherwise you're looking at a pretty short game.

Surprisingly for an Ubisoft game, it is not chock full of repetitive busywork, and the developers did a good job of making the side missions fun and varied, at least from a story perspective. That said I did have a couple of gripes.

Man, the security guards, are nuts! There are no warnings stand in the wrong place, even if you're not doing anything wrong and they will blast you in the face with a shotgun. You also feel a little underpowered compared to the first game. Getting away from the police is much harder and if you get a chopper on your tail good luck!

You know, I'm not the first to say it and I won't be the last, but the first "Watch Dogs" was easily one of the most disappointing games not just of 2014, or the eighth-generation, but possibly ever. With all the hype that Ubisoft placed on the game, and the concept of a game based around hacking even becoming a thing, it was a game that just sounded too damn exciting. So what happened? You know, I'm not the first to say it and I won't be the last, but the first "Watch Dogs" was easily one of the most disappointing games not just of 2014, or the eighth-generation, but possibly ever. With all the hype that Ubisoft placed on the game, and the concept of a game based around hacking even becoming a thing, it was a game that just sounded too damn exciting. So what happened? Well, graphical downgrades, overly-simplistic hacking, bland stealth missions, and dull writing all helped reduce the game to something that was decent, but not as strong as it could've (and should've) been. So, when it comes to "Watch Dogs 2," it's easy to approach the game with an air of cynicism because, ya know, "once bitten, twice shy." However, I walked into this one with an odd sense of optimism. Yes, I was bitten by the first game, but in all fairness, almost everyone I talked to about this game told me that it was pretty damn great. A number of my friends that didn't play the first one really enjoyed it, and even people that DID play the first told me that this one was a massive improvement. And, yeah, truth be told, this game does virtually improve on pretty much everything that the first game did, and it's a far better experience overall.
"Watch Dogs 2" takes every problem that I outlined earlier and fixes them all. For starters, San Francisco is such a beautifully-designed open world that's bustling and always featuring exciting things to do, and it most certainly doesn't feel like this game was downgraded very heavily. The hacking mechanics are also more complex this time around, and instead of simply feeling like you just have to press a button to hack and win things, there is some actual challenge to it this time. On the topic of gameplay, by the way, the driving controls have been fine-tuned quite a bit and the stealth sections are far stronger here, helping to round out the gameplay nicely. The writing is also far stronger: the game takes a more light-hearted approach, which works far better than the first (and reinforces that you don't need to make everything so dark and serious to make it enjoyable), and the characters are far more charming, specifically Marcus, a protagonist who is leaps-and-bounds better than Aiden. So all in all, forget being a polished sequel, "Watch Dogs 2" is basically exactly what the first game should've been.
That's not to say it didn't have a few issues: for example, the game regularly lets you engage in acts of mayhem and violence, and while that should be expected for a game like this, the fact that Marcus is the "nice guy" here just makes things feel just a little inconsistent. On top of that, I have to say that I found the enemy AI to not really be all that smart, regardless of whether you went into missions stealthily or with guns blazing.
Still, minor flaws and all, "Watch Dogs 2" is a massive improvement over the first game, and it's a title I can definitely highly recommend! Even though I'm sure there will be some skepticism walking into it because of the first game being so disappointing, I can safely say that this game makes up for the last one, and is certainly a worthy play.
Final rating: 9 out of 10 "Awesome"

Yes there are bugs and other problems but you will get that with every game. If you liked the original as I did you will love this game and even if you hated the original I am fairly confident you will like this game.

WOW. I was surprised that WD2 is that good. First part of this serie was disappointment, but this was very intense with a good single player and plot. All characters are very specific and interesting. Very good game.

After the complete downgrade disaster of Watch Dogs, Watch Dogs 2 is back and it’s prettier than ever. Sometimes, the sequel drags in terms of a cliché narrative that was heavily influenced by Sam Esmail’s Mr. Robot, but the overall freedom of activities and things to do worked quite well in this follow up.

Enjoyed the first one and enjoyed this. The biggest problem is that its not GTA5 but not many games are, I would say its GTA5-lite so if you're into that then you should enjoy it. GFX are good but running animation is a bit pants.

Games have to be fun and this in the main is mostly. you can dip in and out of online games and there is enough there to pick up for 5 minutes or for an hour.

Using the radio controlled toys are good too.

Downside is that police do get aggravated too easily which is a bug bear when they ram you too much despite turning them inside out they will always be there in a chase, i generally give up now rather than go through the laborious process of the chase.

Also the missions are a little easy and you don't really have to use hacks, but for more enjoyment try and avoid reverting to guns.

I was expecting a bit more mini-games on the hacking side.

With the disaster of the first game Watch Dogs 2 corrects every aspect of the game. It gives us a more interesting character and is extremely fun. The story also very awesome too but unfortunately a disappointing ending.

OK. Singleplayer 9/10 but MP things? Coop mode playable with friends only. Bounty hunter mode? example 10 games and 9x unable to connect - mission succesfull and 5000 points. 1 game connected versus player from US or Japan with extreme lags etc... What about server filters ( ping ...... ) Hacking invasion works fine. So, verdict 9/10 singleplayer and 4/10 MP (COOP) = 6! Sry my english is bad

    Nice open world though.

This game like WD 1 could be better. You can see the potencial but once again it lacks on the same basic stuff.
    Plot
    Characters
    Vilain
and Missions, that besides 3 or 4 is basically the same thing over and over again.

Common Ubi, I know you have a huge potencial....

I didn't know what to expect about this game so here goes my impressions. The plot takes place in San Francisco and you can move through the whole city. I played almost half of the game (about 10 hours or more) till I got stuck, I might give it a second try after some weeks but I honestly, I think I'll pass because I got this game borrowed so I'm not going to do the effort of finishing this game. As, some people has said it looks a bit to GTA because of the driving and the city but nothing else. Missions are different but over time, you'll see that some of them are a bit repetitive. I think this game would improve with a good tutorial because some missions are very difficult from the begining and enemies keep coming no matter what you do. I didn't like that. Many times I had to low the volume because the music was horrible (too modern). About graphics, these are quiet good. I like to play the games in English but because the subtitles were tiny (and I have a huge tv) I decided to play it in Spanish (which by the were, the voices were good). Also, if you don't know how to find the main missions, go to the map and filter it to find the main missions. If you don't find any, go to Head Quarters (HQ). To sum up, this could have been a better game with less enemies, a good tutorial and more variety of missions. About the plot let's say it's ok. Not my kind of game. Oh, and don't ask me why (or maybe I know, because of the enemies never ending coming and was very repetitive and difficult) it reminds me Just Cause 2; a game I bought for my ps3 years ago and that I hated so much that I end up quitting after some hours. Hacking is all the rage for this open world game. You can choose different gadgets to hack NPCs and the environment to your advantage. Sure it's no GTA5 however this Watchdogs 2 is a vast improvement over Watchdogs 1.A few of those hacking node puzzles can only be solved by pure deductive logic. That's some pretty challenging stuff yet cool at the same time.

Now some less positive points, there's no button for jump nor sprint yet these are basic controls they've omitted. No protection armor as well. Gun selection is very limited. Shooting and driving physics is forgettable like it was for Watchdogs 1. Oh well this is a 3rd person open world hacking game rather than a shooting one. My score for such a niche game: 8.3/10

First things first, this game is definitely an improvement over the original. The gameplay is great the graphics are great and the world is detailed enough. And when a certain person bites the dust it is almost laughable when marcus is so hurt and you just do not care at all. This game is fun, I recommend it for the game play and the online co-op which is really fun with friends, but I feel if they instead of focusing on making every npc having a different backstory and more on certain other things, (like being able travel by air, like in a helicopter or something) or fixing some broken multiplayer systems, it would be great. Although the npcs are really fun to mess with. Over I like this game, the tone and game play are great, can't wait for a sequel, but please get your priorities straight. Expand

If you liked the first one, you will most likely like the second. The graphics and physics are cool and there is a lot of features to explore in the game. Although, the game disappoints in the same point of the first: the storyline. I can only play it for 1hr or 1hr and 30min max and I get bored already. It's always the same thing...

Big improvement from the 1st. if I could give a full score it'd be a 8.4/10. Does just about everything better from the first and the world is more full and pretty. I thoroughly enjoyed watch dogs 2, the missions can become a bit samey at times but you are free to approach in your own way and there is a lot of entertainment to be had when you expand your hacking skills, setting up a fake apb on someone who annoys you so that they get arrested, then ringing their phone while they are being marched to the police car made me laugh but topped it off byI thoroughly enjoyed watch dogs 2, the missions can become a bit samey at times but you are free to approach in your own way and there is a lot of entertainment to be had when you expand your hacking skills, setting up a fake apb on someone who annoys you so that they get arrested, then ringing their phone while they are being marched to the police car made me laugh but topped it off by hacking the cop car and seeing the police running after their car Expand

What a pleasant surprise this was. The original was one of the most "okay" games of all time, so me and my friend's expectations were pretty damn low. Boy were we wrong. This game looks beautiful, and it's all uphill from there. The gameplay is open world done right. There is also a lot of ways to finish missions as well. I beat, bar none, almost all the missions in the game without using a gun, with maybe a couple exeptions, and half of those "almost all" without stepping foot on the property! I wish the acting could have been a tiny bit better and some of the set pieces looked a bit bland by PS4 standards. Also, while a BUSLOAD of the missions were fun, I found a couple boring, those being the ones I used a gun in. Put down the first one, and play the sequel, It's great. Expand

Played Watch Dogs 1. I liked it, but it was too boring. I thought this game is gonna be better - and I were right.
New style, some improvements in game play, new UI and other updates. Game is not too big and not too big, it's medium. I really enjoyed all missions, but they're short. Very short.

Despite a few flaws, Watch Dogs 2 delivers where the original game failed. The game has improved on every aspect and provides a vibrant city with lots of hacking fun. The story is dull without any special moments but the immersive open world with lots of quests will keep you entertained.

Watch Dogs 2 brilliantly solves the main issue the first game had while providing a world full of enjoyable missions. We faced some problems with the camera, especially during the car race. We also faced some issues with connectivity and online play. In the end, Watch Dogs 2 is a game that delivers in most aspects and provides hours of enjoyable content.

Despite the MP issues, Watch Dogs 2 hacks this series back on track with its gorgeous locales, and silly emergent fun. Marcus isn’t *quite* our cup of tea, but he sure beats the hell out of the last guy. [January 2016, p71]
