    The game's visuals are impressive. The gameplay remains rich and balanced. The Virtua Fighter franchise still has a lot to teach other fighting games.

    The game mechanics are fine, and the Yakuza guys pretty much remade the game on the Dragon Engine...however, the game basically has no offline content, and since its a PS4 exclusive, you have to pay to play online...and I hear the netcode isnt good either.
    Only if you are a fan of the franchise...and on a sale.

    I had more fun time playing VR online than all MK, Tekken, SF combine. The characters are cool, and there is so much depth to the mechanics. It would be 10/10 but there are not many people playing this game at the moment.

    Great game. The only issue is the net code and the lack o balance (choose wisely) between the characters.
    Some have all the pearks other have... some..

    Only online. For some weird reason, u will reach a point where u only mach with higher ranks (like 5 to 10 lvls higher)
    Arcade stick recommended.

    All this issues remobe most of the fun, i reach a point where iam playing just for the platinum

    A very balanced fighter. Good remaster for a old game, the netcode is acceptable. Could have been better. But the cast of characters and nostalgic graphics makes this an awesome game for me

    Not fun at all. Lagy online gameplay. Poor graphics, and not story. Why waste your time on this when there's Street Fighter, Tekken, Mortal Kombat, or even Injustice? All these games have WAY better graphics as well as a story. They even have much more stable internet connections. Finally, this is just an HD remake of Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown from the PS4 which was an HD remake ofNot fun at all. Lagy online gameplay. Poor graphics, and not story.     This is the first Virtua Fighter i have ever played. What a bad start!!! First, this game is f..... ugly!!! The characters at least, the levels itself arent anything special, but at least they look decent for being a remaster of a PS3 game, but the models are just so plastic with barely any animation!!! It looks like a PS2 launch title. And the controls... oh my lord, compared to otherThis is the first Virtua Fighter i have ever played. What a bad start!!! First, this game is f..... ugly!!!     Just to be clear, Virtua Fighter 5 online for the 360 is in the top 20 of my favorite games of all time. Considering that I've been playing games close to 30 years and have played 100's of them, that means something to me.

    Virtua Fighter 5 Online had this excellent quest mode that encouraged new players (like me at the time) to learn and experiment with many different characters. With    Just to be clear, Virtua Fighter 5 online for the 360 is in the top 20 of my favorite games of all time. Considering that I've been playing games close to 30 years and have played 100's of them, that means something to me.

    Virtua Fighter 5 Online had this excellent quest mode that encouraged new players (like me at the time) to learn and experiment with many different characters. With each victory you had in quest mode you improved your rank and increased your chances of unlocking one of the many costume pieces for your character. Eventually you would have to travel to a more difficult arcade, forcing you to go into training mode to learn some new moves so you can continue to level up and unlock fun content. it was a simple but ohh so effective way to keep new players engage as they learn the many ropes and systems that are in Virtua Figher.

    Ultimate Showdown does not have a quest mode or any unlockable content, leaving new players little else to do, other than to go online and get killed by more experienced players... like me. Add in the fact that the game looks markedly worse than both its 2008 and 2012 counterparts and I see why the game was made free to ps+ members... it would be nothing short of robbery to pay for this. (They really want 30 bucks for this after August?)

    This is a bit off topic but I want to talk about DOA: Ultimate which was released way back in 2004. Like Ulitmate Showdown that game was a third iteration, in this case being DOA2, that game had: a bonus character, new environments, a beautifully update graphic engine and packed to the gills with unlockable content. DOA:Ultimate lived up to its name... I promise your their is absolutely nothing Ultimate about 2021's Ultimate Showdown.

    (Side Notes)
    A.) Awful netcode. It was acceptable back in the day but we have had so many advances in technology that the game should be running much better.
    B.) Why no keyboard chat in lobbies? Why hamper the ability to communicate with each other?
    C.) Seriously why does the game look so ugly? Vanessa and Sarah look like they were beaten with a shovel, and Lei Fei looks like someone drew angry eyebrows on his face while he was sleeping.

    Final Thoughts:
    End of the day this is just a huge missed opportunity. After a 10 year hiatus they had a chance to revitalize the franchise and entice new players to get into the fold. But there's nothing here for them. Series Vets will enjoy playing online matches again but without any new blood this game and ultimately this franchise is doomed to die. And that's a damn shame.    … Expand

    It's a very solid game, smash botons does not work here.
    You will need to take some time in practice mode to learn the basics and to get more and more deeper in some character. I have a lot of good battles, because the game let you to choose to fight against some level players that you.

    It's a very deep game, but, you need to have patience to apreciate.

    Dont know why they bothered, it looks and runs almost identical to the "back compat Xbox one" and PS3 version of the game I already own. Is that why there is No Xbox One version, because it would be to obvious they did nothing? Well nothing good!!
    In fact the characters looked better in the older versions.     Offline matches are quickly and every stage increases the level of the opponent, making hard to bet all while is a good challenger. At the same time everyday changes, the lineup for you to fight.
    Online you have to level up every character instead of your profile, therefore you have to use different fighters if you want to show that you are really good. I love this retro game    Super Fun!

    I just forgot how technical and deep the combat mechanics are in VF. After booting up this on ps5 I realised how much I missed VF series. Trully a joy

    Virtua FIghter E sports was a much better title, as there is nothing ultimate in this skeleton of a game. if your not part of the E sports crowd your better off skipping and saving the hard-drive space for a better game, like Clay Fighters.... i'm sure Clay FIghters is getting its "ultimate" re-release any minute now....

    O melhor jogo de luta 3D voltou, agora todo refeito na parte gráfica para agradar essa geração que só tem atenção por resoluções. O gameplay continua o mesmo de sempre e não poderia ser diferente, pois VF é primoroso na parte de mecânicas de luta. Como todo fan de Virtua Fighter costuma dizer, Virtua Fighter é fácil de aprender, difícil de dominar. Essa versão Ultimate Shodown é focada noO melhor jogo de luta 3D voltou, agora todo refeito na parte gráfica para agradar essa geração que só tem atenção por resoluções. O gameplay continua o mesmo de sempre e não poderia ser diferente, pois VF é primoroso na parte de mecânicas de luta. Como todo fan de Virtua Fighter costuma dizer, Virtua Fighter é fácil de aprender, difícil de dominar. Essa versão Ultimate Shodown é focada no on-line competitivo. A Sega corajosamente lançou o jogo exclusivo para assinantes da PLUS. Essa decisão desagradou os fans de Xbox e PC. Porém pode ser um exclusivo temporário. But it's worth mentioning that spending $30 for those who would otherwise only have access to the barebones offline content is a huge waste of money.     There was never that many people playing virtua fighter at the same time. Its a good thing for the serie. Most other fighting game got their current gen version but for the fans of virtua fighter like me there was no way of replaying the game. I dont keep old hardware like the 360 etc..its free so the haters..stop complaining..go spends 300$ of skins in doa

    1080p, no anti aliasing, no Quest mode, no roll back net code, packed to the gills with paid DLC, this is a disappointing cash grab, no PS5 upgrades, this looks and feels like the 2005 game but now with all the good modes stripped out.

    В день релиза 15 минут искал ранкед, потом меня дискануло, потому что противник чтото там не подвердил. Сюжетку тоже не завезли. Можно играть тренировки, да.

    Arguably the greatest, most erll-balanced fighter of all time, netcode that allows cross-continental online play with zero lag, updated with completely redone current-gen graphics, and it's FREE? If you're a fg player and you don't grab this game then you're just plain stupid.

    Virtua Fighter is a nostalgic trip to the arcades in the 21st century. If you want to quickly kick a friend's ass during a friendly meeting, this is definitely a good choice. If you expect discovering deep mechanics or an extraordinary experience from the game, too bad, because you won’t find them.

    So, while this offering is missing options relating to customization and the netcode is just acceptable rather than industry leading, this is still a fighting game that has absolutely stood the test of time. It feels as fresh now as it ever has, and while it may not be Virtua Fighter 6, having an active Virtua Fighter online scene in the modern era is absolutely priceless.
