    Valkyrie Elysium sets in apocalyptic world where the god Odin wage a war against his enemies. After a severe injury, Odin created a female Valkyrie to fight for him and to prevent the so called Ragnarok.

    In the Prologue you will be introduced into the world. From there on, the fighting mechanics will be explained. After the tutorial you receive the mission for saving the world. The    Valkyrie Elysium sets in apocalyptic world where the god Odin wage a war against his enemies.     The level design looks average. Somehow you can see the apocalyptic moment behind the levels but at the same time i only saw the ruins and buildings with low interior design. It is hard to see detailed traces of the human mankind. But i have to say that im in VE for 7 hours. That's why i cannot say if the level design keeps staying like this.

    The main character itself is a new born person and this might be the reason why there are no much characteristics of her. The protagonist has only the goal to fulfill the mission. This reflects an attitude that makes it not easy to win a certain insight of her and identify himself/herself with the protagonist. Nevertheless, in the course of time this might change.

    The graphic is on a more or less standard level. Even if it is from Square Enix who brought out FF7 Remake with outstanding story and graphic design, VE doesn't reach the same graphic level of FF7 Remake. I find this so strange why Square Enix didn't pay attention to this issue. Or did they? I can't tell for sure but the circumstances show that the graphic design was a minor aspect of the development process. Here, i have to admit that i played the ps4 pro-version but i played FF7 Remake-Pro-Version as well and even FF7 Remake cuts a better dash than VE.

    Even my explanation before sounds so negative, the fighting style is very great. It is a free fight system which reminds me of FF7 Remake and other titles like Tales of Arise of Scarlet Nexus. The skill tree helps to develop your fighting style and expands the attacks and counter attacks.

    The soundtrack isn't so remarkable but it is ok. It serves his purpose. On the one hand, the japanese synchronisation is great and helps to keep the interest in the conversation parts. On the other hand, the faces look a bit rigid while they talk.

    VE is not a real open world title, so don't expect to go around as you want.

    Conclusion:

    VE makes a lot right concerning the fighting system whereas the level and graphic design is more on an average level.

    Awsome action game , with flowing brutal combat and fascinating story. The visual are a but rough in places, but character models and animation are top tier. Best action game of the gen along with Strangers of Paradise.

    Square Enix has been producing some really bad JRPGs of late. FF Origins was bad enough, but this manages to be even worse. PS2 era looks and gameplay, and very little content as well. I really cannot believe they are selling this kind of game at full price, when it should be one of those with launch price of 19.95 max. Even if you are fan of JRPGs, this is not worth buying for any reason.Square Enix has been producing some really bad JRPGs of late. FF Origins was bad enough, but this manages to be even worse.     I Got This As a Huge Fan of Valkyrie Profile and Couldn't Believe We're Finally Getting a Sequel. But This Game is Honestly Boring and Uninspired. The Combat and Environments are Pretty Bland and Repetitive. The Game Feels Like A Devil May Cry Game With More of An Anime Feel But Lacking Any of the Style DMC Gave to the Table. The Game Looks Pretty Good, But The Frame Rate StuttersI Got This As a Huge Fan of Valkyrie Profile and Couldn't Believe We're Finally Getting a Sequel. But This Game is Honestly Boring and Uninspired. The Combat and Environments are Pretty Bland and Repetitive. The Game Feels Like A Devil May Cry Game With More of An Anime Feel But Lacking Any of the Style DMC Gave to the Table.     Square Enix made no effort into making this game fun for the fans. Feels like shiney Play station 2 graphics, level design horrible, dry characters, bad plot. Only good thing is the music. Been a fan since Lenneth back in 1999. Idk just butt hurt that this could franchise could have been epic if in the right hands. Just wait for the price drop if anyone really wants to play it.

    Lame try to revive the Valkyrie Profile IP.

    >Story is boring and cheap. >Repetitive scenarios, repetitive reskinned enemies the entire game. >No real exploration, pretty much nothing to do except fight. >Extra quests are SO LAME, its just repetitive "go to the same area, clear the enemies again". >NPCs are just light on the map, no art, anodyne dialogues, it's totally uninteresting.     Only 2 good things IMO, the combat is ok and the bosses are really good. Bosses were the sole reason why i didn't drop this game.
    Soleil doesn't know what they are doing. This game reeks low-effort.
    Also, it runs kind of bad on PS4, Nibelung Valesti animation looks like running at 15fps, same when theres too many enemies on screen.    … Expand

    A simple action RPG with a battle system taking cues from games like Devil May Cry and the like. Valkyrie Elysium has some rough spots, but has even more potential. The combat feels weighted but fast, something like one of the early God of War games. The story is standard fare with the genre, you're here to fight monsters, purify enemies and kill a god. The unique part is that unlike manyA simple action RPG with a battle system taking cues from games like Devil May Cry and the like. Valkyrie Elysium has some rough spots, but has even more potential. The combat feels weighted but fast, something like one of the early God of War games. The story is standard fare with the genre, you're here to fight monsters, purify enemies and kill a god. The unique part is that unlike many JRPGs, you get to choose which god to kill, and you get different endings to choose from. The supporting cast seems shallow like the protagonist is at first, but their stories can be discovered through sidequests and unlockable audio dramas. It is a slow burn story with some satisfying twists and revelations. This is a great action game, if you can tolerate some basic performance issues - none of them are game breaking. The more time I put into it, the more I got out of it. The heavy but smooth combat is satisfying and there are some good characters and mechanics buried in this game.… Expand

    If I had to put it simply, Valkyrie Elysium is a great classic action RPG. With great art direction, inspiring music and very fluid and agile action, it’s a spicy cocktail for players that enjoy some fast-paced gameplay.
