Well...here we are, the finality of the Uncharted series. The saga has been quite the roller coaster in my opinion. The first one sucks, the second one was a master piece and the third one was in the middle. And now we finally finish Nathan Drake's latest adventure in his strongest game yet.

STORY: Once again we interact with little Nate for a bit and we learn that he actually has a brother called Sam. Then we jump into a few years later and Nate, Sam and some other guy are in prison, but they escaped with a clue to...something, but in the middle of the chaos Sam gets shot and Nathan has to leave him. Then we jump to the future and Nate now is married with Elena and he has a normal life. But that doesn't last for long because, surprisingly enough his brother is still alive and he tells Nathan that they need to find the treasure of Henry Avery or he will die...for real this time...by the hand of a person named Alcázar.

PRESENTATION: The graphics have received a MAJOR! downgrade from the first time we saw the game back in 2014. And it definitely has some popping, low res textures, god awful load times, no reflections and stilted animations from time to time, but the game still has some damn good graphics and it can look downright real with the lighting effects, the other 98% of the textures, the motion captured animations, the realistic models, the incredible detail in every place and this game definitely proves that having a varied color palette DOES NOT HINDER THE REALISM OF A GAME!, yes i'm talking to you Gears of War. The sound design is also phenomenal and the voice acting is top-notch.

The game runs at 1080p 30fps and i gotta say that the frame-rate is a bit unstable and there's not many music. The soundtrack overall is very forgettable, but it does help to create the mood.

But of course my thing with Naughty Dog is still present and i still found some glitches, but not to the game breaking level of Uncharted 3.

GAMEPLAY: Since i already reviewed the previus 3 Uncharted games i don't think that i have to explain how the game works (if you want more detail then go see those reviews), instead let's see the new stuff:

Now to shoot you use L2 and R2, instead of L1 and R1, and i gotta say, after playing the first 3 games this feels weird. And another thing is that you can switch the direction of your aiming by pressing X, but i feel like it was an unnecessary addition. And because L2 is for aiming, the grenades are mapped to R1 instead.

And we're back to the AWESOME! Uncharted 2 3D parkour system, THANK YOU!. And now we are full Indiana Jones!. And what i mean by that is that now we have a wip! and we can use it to swing back and forth in walls or in an open space and fall over enemies to do an instant takedown. And to do all of that you just press L1.

Combat has been ticked once again and instead of having just quick time events, we now don't see the buttons on screen, the AI is a lot more smarter and aggressive and your buddies can also help you in combat. Because of these combat is not as useful as in Uncharted 3, but i feel like it was a change for the better, since it balanced the way you attack enemies and it forces you to develop a stragetie.

The stealth works just like before, but now the AI is a lot smarter. And now they have a meter that fills every time they see you. If it gets yellow they will investigate the place and if it's orange then the fire fight begins. To know better the position of the enemies, you can mark them, eliminating some of the pressure and giving more depth to an already polished mechanic.

The puzzles this time around are a lot easier and fewer in quantity...and that kinda sucks.

The weapons and ammunition glow, so you could know the exact location. And now you have press and HOLD the triangle button to get a weapon from the ground, this removes the frustration of picking up a weapon by accident.

Now in certain areas you will slide and change direction at will...for some reason.

There's some vehicles to drive and they control really well...most of the time.

To add more challenge to the cover mechanic, the "cover places" can be destroyed by the enemy, same stuff happens in previus Uncharted games, but they used it alot more here.

You can push things in any direction, instead of waiting for the AI to come and press a button to push something in a straight line.

Now you can grab and inspect objects with the same exact system of The Order 1886 (**** that game tho), so it's not particularly innovative or interesting to do.
We also have character dialog choices, but they are very fake since they don't impact the story in any way.

Just like i said in my Star Fox Zero review. Please IGNORE that 7.8 that Uncharted 4 has in the user reviews. The people giving this game a 0 are just fanboys with no criterion. Uncharted 4 gets a 10/10 for me and i wish the best of luck to Naughty Dog for their next game.

P.S: YOU GET TO PLAY THE ORIGINAL CRASH BANDICOOT!...**** YEAH!!!!

The game would have been a perfect 10 if not for the pacing issues especially on Act 3 of the single player campaign. The story is a tad bit predictable but neatly wraps up Nathan Drake's story in a memorable way. Loved the game.

I'm playing through the game slowly, an hour or two at a time; on mission 9 now and I really didn't want to stop playing and go to bed last night. It's tremendously polished; having incredible detail in every visible direction. The problem I have so far is that it feels less like I'm playing a game and rather watching a movie. A great movie, but still, less interactive than I would like. A few of the missions felt like I had not actually played anything during them, and instead just watched a movie. It is like a Metal Gear Solid game, but the cutscenes make sense and are really interesting and engaging. So, I'm really enjoying this piece of entertainment, but it is in a different way than I'd expected. Still well worth the price, as everything is in the top notch of quality, and the content duration is akin to a 3-6 part movie series, gameplay aside. My favorite part of the gameplay is the puzzle solving, something I also really enjoyed in the previous games. There are few experiences to be had in gaming like this one, and I can wholeheartedly recommend it. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 9/10 would be my final, and honest, rating for this amazing game. I finished it yesterday and I have to say that it is probably my favorite Uncharted game with U2 really close in 2nd place. People who are posting "0's" for this game have either had a momentarily mental lapse in judgement or are just being horribly bias towards this sony exclusive. That is what's wrong with the user scores for game's like this because people justify their outrageously high or low score because they feel like the other reviews didn't justify their own opinion. Listen to the critic scores with this one because there is just an immature flaming party going on here...
Anyways, This game had just about everything you would come to expect from an uncharted series and more but I felt like it suffered a but from the main director being replaced. She had a style for these games that was apparent in the past installments but is nearly absent here. Sorry, trying to be vague not to spoil anything. If you guys really enjoyed U1-3 go buy this now because it's unforgettable or you can just wait until Tomb Raider 3 will come out and borrow even more concepts making it merely just a clone of U4.

For those of us that have been along from the beginning, the (supposed) final chapter should come as a fitting - though unexpected - conclusion, thanks in large part to a refreshing staff change behind the scenes. If, like me, you were wondering how an adventurous rascal reconciles the mundane world of employment, bills and marriage versus bullets, travel and treasure; here you go.

There's little to review here that veterans won't already expect: climbing, gunplay, exploration, cut-scenes (not necessarily in that order.) Instead, the devils in the details. Visually the game is sumptuously decorated, careful to dish out ever-increasing levels of eye candy from chapter to chapter, all the more impressive considering no load times beyond the initial. Certain chapters open up the level, giving you a vehicle, and letting you roam at your leisure, helping to offset the relatively linear nature of the series.

Gunplay feels familiar and, in many instances, can be bypassed altogether with stealth and patience. Ground foliage dotted throughout provide plenty of opportunities to snap necks incognito. Areas of confrontation have been opened up horizontally and vertically, with many an enemy above and below to contend with, driven by smarter, more aggressive tactics. The inclusion of a Grappling Hook helps to balance this by providing more options for mobility, and capable AI companions will help you out in times of need.

Helmed by Neil Druckmann (The Last of Us), the story unfolds at its own pace, not afraid to holster the guns for a time in order to establish character and relationships. Whilst a well-worn structure is still adhered to: travel to new country, locate ruin, decipher clue to next location, rinse and repeat -- the higher stakes this time round help to propel us forward nonetheless, managing to juggle the more serious tone alongside the constant, light-hearted quipping.

Length will vary based on difficulty and time spent exploring but, in my opinion, falls a little too long, much like many games and movies -- a debate for another time.

Multiplayer is a blast: easy to get into, plenty of unlocks and frantic slices of mayhem. Connection issues are a problem, but there are also trials to keep you occupied that help introduce you to the mechanics and resources at your disposal during the down times.

And that's it. A gorgeous Indiana Jones style romp through various locales in pursuit of pirate booty. An easy purchase.

As an aside, choose crushing difficulty at your peril--you will be tested.

It is what I think everyone felt when The Last of Us ended, and it is probably the void we will be left with your games to come. And this void is not at all a negative feeling, it is the proof that the studio has come up with something so incredible, so moving, that it played-even if only a minor one-a role in people's life, and the whole team can be incredibly proud of themselves.
This game has everything one could possibly want: a rock-hard plot, detailed, well-developed characters, a great balance between narration and action, an interesting lore based off real-world elements, and, of course, a stunning, incredible level design and sumptuous graphics.
The story is catching, the characters moving and lifelike, the scenery is breathtaking... there is simply nothing wrong with Uncharted 4.
This game is an example of the essence of video games, a powerful statement about what video games should be: a powerful experience which will leave you with durable memories.
Good job, Naughty Dog, good job!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

Everything is done with so much love, affection, care, and painstaking detail, it’s obvious that everyone working on the project wanted it to be the best it possibly could. Through clever writing, fun characters, and a story that rejoices in a sense of globetrotting adventure, this game is extremely good at being entertaining until the very end. At its best, Uncharted 4 hits memorable story beats and follows it up with over-the-top fun and unique gun battles with unique hide-and-seek style mechanics. The worst moments, however, force the game to slow down to a crawl. For me, these were all during the climbing segments. These segments have never been, and will never be fun for me. Hitting one button to jump up a cliff is hardly anything more than a quick time event, but these climbing segments often go on for over a minute. I can understand how these are meant to slow down the pacing of the game, after all if the only moments in Uncharted 4 were the intense action sequences, the magic would ware off after a while. Yet that still doesn't excuse how boring the climbing is. Nothing happens during these segments. There's no sense of danger, and no skill necessary to progress. Noticeable improvements have been made in this aspect with the grappling hook, which adds a depth to climbing that isn't there in most other games with similar mechanics. However despite the promise of a more entertaining and complicated climbing system, there are very few areas that take advantage of the most interesting aspects of the grappling hook. I always wanted to string two to three grapples together, but the game only lets you do that a few times, which I found very disappointing. The story itself is extremely intriguing, and very clever at points, but there are points where the characters stop acting like real people for the sake of the plot, especially in the final chapters of the game. The levels, despite having a few branching paths, very rarely reward exploration with anything tangible, and as a result, some of them feel very restrictive. In this aspect, chapter four is the strongest the game has to offer. Every corner of the map has some sort of significance and exploration is always rewarded. Despite, in my opinion, having a few shortcomings, Uncharted 4 is still a very enjoyable experience. Anyone who owns a PlayStation 4 should pick this up, and I'm going to give this game a very strong 6 out of 10. Expand

Uninspired gameplay, with ridiculous platforming. Unless you consider small colored ledges in huge rocks, or "randomly" placed crates in otherwise completely empty cave, ok for 2016 standards. Shooting is completely the same, other games do it much more better. Boring for most of the time, frustrating at some other parts. Puzzles were also ridiculous, trivial without leaving any sense of achievement for the player. And finally the story; another cheese-cliche infected storyline with soooo many plot holes. Its ok to write something like this in 2007, but lack of evolution means that in 2016 the result will be childish. The only categories in which the game stands out are the technical; graphics and sound are very good, especially graphics when you take into account the platform.

Overall, as I'm writing this review I stare at the game awards and rankings, and this feels like the most over estimated and over hyped game of the last decade. I wouldn't buy this game at full price. Wait to grab either at a heavy discount or rent it

The graphics are best in class (as in, there is currently no other game reaching this level of detail and beauty), the score was beautiful, the story and dialogue was written and acted out in a cogent and non-corny manner, very cinematesque.

One of the most amazing things about the game is something you realize when you start a chapter after you are done with the game - a level needs about a minute to load, they are *huge*. While you are playing through the game, you will never realize this, because Naughty Dog managed to integrate resource loading with the story so well that the game flows at a natural pace and never pauses for loading. This sounds like "uh, so what" but is an enormous technical accomplishment.

The other thing I really appreciated was that the storyline this time felt (just like the graphics! ;)) more realistic than ever. Options may diverge on this, maybe you are the type to miss magical mumbo jumbo, I thought the game was better without it.

On a side-note, I cannot wait for ND to publish more games based on this engine, they are sitting on a gold mine.

Amazing voice acting and animations, most real life I've ever seen atleast. Absolute must play and the best action adventure game you can get right now. And the closure that undying UC fans got is brilliant.

However, NOTE: Don't go into this game expecting crazy choices and freedom. It's a very linear game (some illusion of choice here and there, alternate paths from place to place) with a lot of quick time events. But ND does this so well and it suits this game. It plays like a movie and I like it as it is.

Stating that the forthcoming game will be the last rendezvous with a popular, charismatic hero is a rare phenomenon. I congratulate Naughty Dog on their courage and in spite of myself keep my fingers crossed for them to stick to their decision. The farewell party they threw for Nate is simply spectacular. This is how I want to remember him, not as an old man who rubbed his joints with pain cream and then found a UFO. Uncharted 4 is a brilliant game and a breathtaking demonstration of what PS4 is capable of. [07/2016, p.56]

Whiteknuckle action, captivating characters, and luscious locales - the best Uncharted yet. [June 2016, p.64]
