Two Parsecs from Earth is a fairly considered, focused platformer with some precise controls. At times, it's not as responsive as you want but the cold sting of death becomes a mere minor inconvenience. Whilst the levels are smartly designed, it does lead to some exact and rigid challenges that hone in more on trial and error. At times, I felt constrained and it's hard for me to get a good flow going. It has a colourful aesthetic but there's very few moments of character here.

Two Parsecs from Earth does have one mechanic that deserves mentioning: when you unlock a new skill, you have to choose between two, rather than simply getting one, and the skill you don’t pick is blocked off for the rest of the game. Consequently, different choices — say, choosing to dash rather than double-jump, or vice versa — will mean means the game plays out a little differently, which is an interesting wrinkle. Or it would be if the rest of Two Parsecs from Earth was that interesting. Unfortunately, it’s pretty dull beyond that, and only people who really like Metroidvanias need apply.

    Robot Sarcasm at its best!

Two Parsecs From Earth is a really enjoyable. You play as a Robot called Z3-L1 who’s ship has crash landed on an alien planet. That's not the only bad news, you have also lost your Cargo and Batteries to get your ship up and running again.

There is loads of Cargo spread through out the levels of the game but you only need to collect 30. You also must find and collect the three missing Batteries that are needed for your ship. Simple? not really, some of the cargo is in places that requires you to have special abilities to obtain them. These abilities are obtained by what looks like an old style arcade machine, you can either choose, double jump or dash. Double jump will get you to platforms that you can’t reach with a normal jump. Dash of the other hand will let you dash across spikes without dying.

These are the first two of six abilities that you will come across but remember choosing one ability will disable the other till the end of the game.

On this alien planet you will encounter porcupines, evil spikes all around the game and very annoying heat seeking birds that turn red and zoom towards you. All these will kill Z3-L1 so watch out. The game is very enjoyable to play until you you collect one of three batteries where you are then taken into a new area and are chased by a Giant very angry killer bird. Yes, this happens three times throughout the game, every time you collect a battery you are taken to the same level but it gets longer and harder with every battery.

The one thing that made the game great was Robot Z3-L1. The humour and sarcasm that comes out of him was a great touch.

I spent approx. three hours on this game and finished it with a massive amount of deaths, The game counts how many times you die, which can see in the pause menu.

Overall I really enjoyed this game and would recommend it, if not just for the Z3-L1
