I expected a lot from Trine 2. Trine 1 was a masterpiece when it comes to the graphics and fun gameplay. What Trine 2 has? Well for sure the best graphics in the series, but the gameplay got dumbed down a lot. First, the secrets (chests) are completely pointless. In Trine 1 there were artifacts hidden in chests that gave us certain advantages in the game... here these chests are filled with SH**TY poems or lame concept arts... what a waste. The bigger waste is removal of the artifacts. You know what else is gone? The great triangle that the sorcerer could spawn in Trine 1... yep it's gone. Instead Zoya got a blue arrow that creates a bubble that slows everything. And this is actually the core of the game... almost all of the puzzles are solved with the blue arrow and it's a real shame, because the first part had some diversity, but nope it's the blue arrow here! Also, because Trine 1 was not a long game, the developers decided to make Trine 2 harder... so it would take us longer to beat it, which is a disgrace. I finished Trine 1 on hard with hardcore mode on and had great time, but here this kind of difficulty is a bloody mess... better play it on normal. And that's mostly all the negative things I can say about Trine 2. The graphics are amazing, level designs are awesome, story is interesting.. some puzzles are really good, while other ones are a joke. It's a good game, but compared to Trine: Enchanted Edition it falls flat. Trine 2 is 8 out of 10. Now, because we're talking about "Complete Story", I have to review the dlc "Goblin Nickelback" too. Well the dlc is awful. Don't get me wrong, the level designs and ideas are amazing. The dlc has one of the best level designs in the series... but... BUT there's a BIG BUT... the puzzles are a joke. While some are fun, the majority is tedious and just dumb. This DLC gave me real physical pain, while going through it. I can't stand it, which is a shame. I know that some people will want to crucify me for this, but that's just how it is. I wish this dlc didn't exist. Also what's with the goblins in trine 2 and the dlc? There are mostly just goblins and no one else as antagonists... Trine 1 had lots of different enemies and here there are just goblins, some spiders rarely and some plants, that are hungry like Charlie Sheen is hungry for drugs. Either way this package is 7/10. Better play the first one. Still, Pickens approves! Expand

With three different characters to play as (a mage, a knight and an acrobatic thief) that can be switched between at any point the puzzles often have multiple solutions and, thanks to the solid controls, the platforming is challenging without ever becoming frustrating.

By the end of the game things do start to become a little repetitive but Trine 2 is well worth picking up if you have a friend or family member to play alongside.

Where this game really excels is in the number and variety of ways the player is given to solve each puzzle. The levels are visually stunning and the obstacles are varied enough to keep things mostly interesting. The actual narrative of the story is very thin and feels a bit lazy. My biggest problem with the game (aside from a little glitchyness, here and there) is that the game is repetitive and goes on to long. I felt satisfied when I had beaten the final boss and the credits began to roll but then the DLC started and it turned out I was only 2/3rds of the way through the game. In the DLC's defense, a lot of the level design was significantly more interesting in the DLC levels than in some of the original levels but the puzzles were almost exactly the same. Fatigue set and made the last 3rd more of a slog to get through. Otherwise a very solid game. Expand

Can understand all the great reviews for this game. It is a standard side scrolling platform with a combat system that doesn't entertain.

I've only played it in single player but can't see how it would improve by going coop.

The controls are not bad, but ain't great either and the story is just a standard one.

The visuals and songs are nice, but this game failed to entertain me.

Trine 2 is a fun puzzle game for you and 2 other friends that you have probably made up. this game has some challenge to it puzzle solving wise (unless you get the first player across say a pit of lava and the rest just teleport over there) but the fighting parts are easy as you hack through goblins as a katana would cut through soft cheese, which is fair because the fights aren't meant toTrine 2 is a fun puzzle game for you and 2 other friends that you have probably made up. this game has some challenge to it puzzle solving wise (unless you get the first player across say a pit of lava and the rest just teleport over there) but the fighting parts are easy as you hack through goblins as a katana would cut through soft cheese, which is fair because the fights aren't meant to be challenging(unless you are stuck being the wizard). In all honesty this is a fair priced game for 15$ and i would recommend looking into it. Expand

Overall this was an interesting puzzle story game. The puzzles were harder than I expected and did require alot of thought.

The game world is designed beautifully. It was good fun to finish this game, but I wouldnt repeat. I didnt find the story behind the game particularly thrilling (fairy tale land with goodie goodie knights and "evil" queens). Overall, good puzzles, nice design.

Was free on PS+, i never played Trine before, it's a good game to play with friends when you're bored or when you have nothing to play. But maybe it's too repetitive

Great game to play with a friend, it can be a little bit tricky, but it is nothing that will feel overwhelming. The game is fairly long, and it graphics a great.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Slightly improved graphics and sound and a game that's almost twice as long as its predecessor. I really feel this game benefits from the 3D mode (yes, I still have a 3D-capable TV), but it does start to feel LOOONG. I appreciate a good false ending, but it wasn't - turns out that it's really two adventures in one, about equal in length. I mean, more bang for your buck, right? The boss fights are interesting in this one, both against the dragon and the goblin machine, and there are a lot of trophies which aren't cheapies (and they will remain locked for me, personally). I think if you're really into this game, you'll find a lot of replayability, but not for me. Pretty much one-and-done, though i did go back in a couple of levels to see if I could find/do something.
