    Trailblazers is a fantastic game that blends racing and a team-based dynamic to craft a memorable experience. It plays like a dream and offers up a surprisingly high amount of strategy to excel. By offering up enough twists on a traditional racing game, it finds ways to create excitement that haven’t been done before in the genre and is a must for anyone looking for an arcade-style futuristic racing experience. If you like F-Zero and/or Splatoon, you will find a lot to like here.

    Honestly, it kind of pains me to give Trailblazers a bad score. From a purely aesthetic perspective, it’s got a lot going for it. But, unfortunately, there’s a difference between a game that looks nice and a game that plays well, and Trailblazers just never figures out how to bridge that divide.

    For a quick splitscreen showdown, Trailblazers is easy to get into and not too heavy on the wallet at around $30 USD.

    Trailblazers definitely needs some fine tuning, and more importantly needs the ability to create and host private online matches with friends (you are currently limited to local splitscreen or single player online), but for the budget price this is mostly a winner.

    Trailblazers consists of a solid game, without failures beyond the first decision and buy from buy it. Loaded with humor, frantic and fun, it is a great opportunity for novice players to enter the world of racing games, and a good bet for veterans who are less than the intensity of the old Wipeout.

    It's a pity that the energy that Trailblazers displays - and its upbeat spirit can prove infectious - isn't met with a little more meticulous thought and care placed elsewhere. The unfortunate thing when invoking such classics as F-Zero and Splatoon is you invoke their brilliance, and while Trailblazers has happily taken the grand ideas it's skimped out on the detail - and so this colourful mash-up ends up feeling plain sloppy.

    This game features 8 characters with their own unique stats and 10 tracks that can be raced forwards and backwards
    This is a racing game all about team work and making your own boost pads.
    Think wipeout meets Splatoon. and I even got bits of an ssx vibe from playing this game…
    The great soundtrack was the first thing I noticed. the game sounds like it was plucked right from the ps2 giving me those nostalgic racing feels.
    There are 3 different modes here,
    Story Mode Custom Race and online race. unfortunately, this game suffers the same fate all competitive modes do in indie games. in that it’s a ghost town, which is a shame because there is potential here with this games mechanics to make this a really fun co op game.
    Playing solo in story mode is almost as fun as this games potential though.
    Here you’re introduced to all 8 of this games characters and you’re given 3 tasks in each race as these characters and to progress the story you must complete one of these 3 tasks. so, this isn’t a straight up racing game all of the time which I appreciate…
    this is about strategy. every race has to be tackled in a different way to accomplish your goal.
    every character has their own colors. though through most of the campaign you’ll have a team mate..
    your job is to use your stored paint and paint the track your teems color, this will give you speed boost..
    its painting your own boost pads on the track..
    again playing with real people this offers ton of strategy potential..
    every track has multiple branching paths…
    you and your partner could take the road less travel and dump your paint making what seems like the long way a now shortcut..
    you can also use your paint to attack and spin out opponents by shooting the paint ahead of you and you can cover their paints stopping their boost for the next lap.
    and the paint Is on a cool down so that it actually means something.
    the racing is so fast and fun, I loved the tracks despite them not really feeling memorable to me..
    I don’t feel like a ton of effort went into creating the world around the tracks..
    the tracks themselves are fine..
    but none of them are brought to life..
    My biggest issue with this game though is how aggressive partner ai is..
    and no I don’t mean against the other team..
    your team mate is aggressive towards you as well..
    I was blocked and slowed down by my own ai partner numerous times throughout my journey of this games campaign..
    the nuisance is mild.. but its still there..
    The ai definitely doesn’t understand team work.
    Overall Trailblazers is a worthy pick up for those missing the ps2 era arcade racers..
    the game is a bit frustrating at times due to the poor team work from ai, but is still challenging in all of the right ways, and fun,
    I give Trailblazers
