The atmosphere is perfect, so is the music and sound design. The puzzles are great except for maybe 3 (there's a lot of them): the ursa minor and the sunset which require external knowledge, plus the one with tv channels, which does not seem to have a logic behind it. The gameplay is a little bit janky and the assets feel somewhat generic and plastiky, but trust me, the complete package is amazing. If you loved old horror games, this one is for you. You'll find new ideas and a refreshing game with a lot of love poured into it. Expand

It uses the same camera as RE: Code Veronica in that it's a mixture between fixed point camera angles and a moving/panning camera to match your movement. The voice acting is a little cheesy but again, i think that's a nod back to Res Evil 1. Graphics are perfectly fine.

The gameplay is proper old school. You save by finding tape. You then have to find a recorder. Similar to the ink ribbon/type writer system on Res Evil. The tapes are in short supply though so you have to be mindful of when you save. Whilst i have had to (annoyingly) replay an hour of gameplay again due to dying, this really adds to the tension as you need to make the decision whether to save, or try to go a bit deeper in before saving. You can use the left thumb stick to move (normal/modern) or use the D pad for tank controls (my preference). Puzzles were plentiful and whilst i'd say they were harder than the early RE games, they weren't too taxing. Item management is back. However, whilst it works very similar to the early RE games, items are split into groups for easy management and also there is no limit on how much you can carry.

Once enemies are dead, they stay dead. Their bodies even stay in the place you killed them which is a neat little touch. This makes exploring easier and allows you to make "safe routes" between key areas.

The darkness kills you. So if there is no external light source, you need to use your lighter to survive. This does become problematic when there are enemies as you can't equip the lighter and a weapon at the same time.

Physical version comes with a map of the Hospital and Mansion too which was a nice touch. i loved this game but i did grow up on the old survival horror games back when they were hard. This won't be a walk in the park for those who like to have a regular auto save and hint system. And if you misjudge saving/not saving, you could have an hour of gameplay to replay. But that's what survival horror is all about.

Besides the game-breaking bugs, this is one of the best survival horror games with a classic feel that I’ve played in a very long time.

In general the game is good and interesting. I have good impression after playing it on PC.

However PS4 port is lazy-made. Some issues ruin the atmosphere:
    1. Some post-processing effects do not work. For instance we can see the big difference in Main Hall. In PC version we see that light of the moon enlights stairs. In PS4 version we do not see such effect, but only some invisible source of light. In other locations the picture seems almost okay. But still, picture Main Hall still ruins the atmosphere. I know that maybe we have such difference because PS4 is not powerful enough, but we have many examples of good picture on same hardware (i.e. TLOU2). It does not have to have to be the same as on PC, but it should not look strange.
    2. Music is being loaded too long. When I enter a room I need to wait 3-8 seconds to hear the music. Music and sounds makes almost 60% of atmosphere for me. So it would be great to hear it right after entering the room. I know that PS4 has HDD and data in encrypted. But maybe music should be loaded during room loading screen then? Even if I see loading screen a little bit longer the it won't be a problem I think.

The last point is Dualshock 4 support. It is good that tutorial files are updated to match Dualshock 4 layout. But why the game does not support touchpad for point and click activities? I know that it is much easier to do not do extra work for PS4 version, but if the picture is worse then maybe it should be compensated by other features?

I wish publisher to allocate more money to developers to make PS4 version better. I think technically it is possible, just need more efforts.

My verdict: if you are able to play this game on PC then do it. Buying PS4 version is just a way to support this project.

They 100% nail the atmosphere and feeling of a true 90's Survivor Horror game; the scenario, music and level design of the hospital is superb. The puzzles are good, very cryptic and challenging. But the rest... the rest is AWFUL:

The character models are horrendous. Caroline, the priest and most enemies looks so bad that they seems like coming from a whole different game, looks and behave like mannequins. The contrast against the rich and detailed environment is way too big. Now add one of worst VA i have seen in a videogame and you have the cringest cutscene in history. Every scripted interaction in this game is awful.

Another big problem is the performance, bad framerate in a lot of areas and way to long loading screens. (PS4)

The story again; good intention, bad execution. It's kind of close to Silent Hill, but with dumb mirror-time-travels, lame dialogues and a disappointed final boss.

This game is fat phobic and offensive to the disabled. It's so bad that in their hospital the only way to get to the elevator is up 3 stairs. LOL. That's how little they thought about actual disabled people when they were creating their game full of monsters in wheelchairs. The wheelchair monsters can magically roll up stairs. The story is FULL of plot holes. Also, if you're a real person with a busy life you should know there are not nearly enough saves. DO NOT BUY!!!!! Expand
