Very good game only 2 things that are annoying: long loading screens and lots of lag (!) when there are multiple enemies on screen.

I tested the demo for the PS 4 today and found it just ok.
On the PC, the game seems to have been enthusiastic, but here you still have a lot to do.
Starting with the cumbersome menu navigation and the unrounded combat system, the control is overloaded.
    So don't really have fun.

This game could have been easily an 8 had a modicum of effort been put into the port. I never buy games at release, but this being an old game and the price being only 20 bucks I thought "what could go wrong?". The answer to that question, in the following paragraphs. TLDR version: wait until it's 10 bucks.

If you like Torchlight, you will like this game: it retains the strong points of the series: a clone of Diablo 3 with a lighter tone, some quality of life improvements and a level of simplicity that sets it apart from Path of Exile, that game where you need to write a doctoral thesis to decide which skills to unlock.

However, there are some elements that greatly subtract from the fun of the game:

    1) Zero tutorials. Most players probably are familiar with Torchlight, Diablo, etc. But anybody coming to this type of game for the first time is going to be lost. Fortunately the game is simple enough and being an old game there are plenty of tutorials on the Internet, but still the game not having a single tutorial is simply rude.

    2) Loot is 100% randomly generated. This is, by far, the most egregious, so most of the text will go here.

    - The game lets you choose between several different characters, each of which will be adept in certain types of weapons and will need to prioritize one of the character stats (strength, dexterity, vitality or focus) in order to access better weapons.

    - I chose an Outlander, which is a ranged-based character: pistols, shotguns, bows, crossbows, etc. with the main stat being dexterity. Imagine my surprise when, at the end of a majority of boss fights, the loot was a two handed sword, or a warhammer, or a magic wand, or a piece of armor that either had a strength or focus requirement, or simply required a different character class to be equipped.

    - The game tries to compensate for this by showering you in loot, so statistically speaking if the game gives you 4 items, at least 1 should be suitable for your character, but somehow that is not the case, especially in boss fights. My disappointment after receiving a berserker-class locked two-handed sword from the final boss of the game is what led me to write this review.

    3) Inventory interface and management system could not be less user friendly.

    4) Button presses unresponsive, character aiming flawed, hits not registering and other minor but noticeable technical issues.

In short, what could have been a great game is demoted to average due to lack of effort in the port. Wait for a sale and buy this game for 10 bucks.

As a budget Diablo III clone, Torchlight II delivers a solid chunk of hacky, slashy, looty gameplay and gets better as the game gets harder. However, it doesn't offer any real innovations and seems creatively unambitious even by the standards of a sub-genre that already struggles to break away from its conventions.

Torchlight 2 is a good porting for an old good game. If you are looking for a Diablo-like waiting the next chapter, maybe this could be your game.

At the risk of sounding overly infatuated, I cannot begin to understand how the hell Torchlight II has aged so well. The art style, combat mechanics, and even loot drop loop are so finely tuned that it feels like the game fits in as well now as it did, seven years ago.
