    I am playing this game for the first time on ps5 and a shocked how good it is for such an old game. I am seriously posyponing playing other games I ordered just to finish tomb raider

    This game is a classic 2nd best Tomb Raider game imo, from the action to the graphics+sound and the beautiful environments.... just so good, I've played and beat this game on PS3 and now 2x on PS4 this is truly one of the best action adventure platforming games ever... play it now its a 9!!!

    Very well executed action game. The story is a bit cheesy but does enough to keep you hooked. The gameplay is top notch, specially the puzzles and fights. The game could strive for a 9/10 if the skills and equipment progression were more interesting. The scavenging and hunting end up becoming void, and the exploration is not that much of a thing. It's a linear game, you just have theVery well executed action game. The story is a bit cheesy but does enough to keep you hooked. The gameplay is top notch, specially the puzzles and fights.     Having played the 'Shadow' and the 'Rise' games first, this version seems outdated, hence doesn't allow for a very fair comparison. That being said, it still is a good Tomb Raider game with an interesting storyline, and is worth playing on PS4 in 2023.

    I'm reviewing this in 2023, and having played Rise of the Tomb Raider (which I loved!) and then Shadow of the Tomb Raider (which I liked) first. Accordingly, I would say this isn't as good as Rise and is about as good as Shadow. For its day, It was clearly fantastic. You'll love this if you like the uncharted games. I'm not a great fan of 'Assassin vision' as you end up mashing it every 5I'm reviewing this in 2023, and having played Rise of the Tomb Raider (which I loved!) and then Shadow of the Tomb Raider (which I liked) first. Accordingly, I would say this isn't as good as Rise and is about as good as Shadow. For its day, It was clearly fantastic. You'll love this if you like the uncharted games.     A strong update of the Tomb Raider franchise that - thanks to its po-faced heroine and glaring absence of one-liners and buddy-cop bantz - is nowhere near as much fun to play as the Uncharted games. Good, but still a pretender to Nathan Drake's swashbuckling crown.

    The Tomb Raider series needed a refresh, and the creator did it very well. Interesting gameplay, nice, well presented story, and no major bugs. Overall, I highly recommend this game.

    In a delightful word full of surprising scenes. When I played this game again after 8 years. As if it was my turn! . Lara's empowerment process was great.

    This is by far the best Tomb Raider game to come out since it first began. There is so much depth and the gameplay is stellar. Graphics are top notch and its also very challenging. It starts out slow, but you'll soon find yourself in an all out war. If your looking for a great game at a discount price for the PS4, this is for you!!!

    Recuerdo que cuando salió el juego tuvo muchas críticas, pero en mi opinión está genial. Un juego muy intuitivo de aprender, algo que muchos quieren desmerecer (los juegos por ser más difíciles y enrevesados no son mejores, en mi opinión). Dicho esto, gameplay entretenido, con la sensación de no haber relleno sino que parece que estás casi siempre ante un combate final. Muy recomendado.

    Storywise it's the best of the new trilogy. I'm really happy with the reboot of this franchise starting with this one. As for the definitive edition itself, I honestly didn't see many differences.

    Tomb Raider does great until the very first wolf related QTE. The game teaches you button mashing the whole way during the tutorial phase. Then suddenly you are required to mash the button according to timing with ZERO indication. This confuses the hell out of the player. This is BAD game design,

    Received free upgrade to PS4 version. Reboot of the Tomb Raider series is an exceptional game based on storytelling, gameplay, and puzzles. There is a lot to do and discover in this game and the story will keep you wanting to continue. Whenever you die in this game be prepared to see Lara in a painful and gruesome animation.     The first Tomb Raider I've played since the Playstation 1. The game offered me approximately 11 hours of non-stop action and a very interesting story. I liked the Japanese setting, which was well done.

    I have to say that the game looks stunning despite being almost a decade old. I only had one "crash" in the entire playthrough when I had to restart the game, otherwise the game runs    The first Tomb Raider I've played since the Playstation 1.     In conclusion, I have to say that this game is a great sparring partner to Uncharted, unfortunately it doesn't hold a candle to the Uncharted series. Although I kind of wish in the back of my mind that we would see a joint adventure of Lara Croft and Nathan Drake one day.

    I really love the reboot of Tomb Raider. Square Enix have made a fantastic job. For me the Tomb Raider series since 2013 are the best 3D action adventures today. Fantastic story, outstanding gameplay and one of the best female hero you can play in a game.

    Ridiculously fun game. The movement is amazing, parkour is a blast and combat is super fun. The story is basic but not in a bad way this time. You know what's going to happen and that's ok. Lara Croft is a badass.

    Tomb Raider Definitive Edition is an action packed adventure game with a fantastic gameplay and beautiful graphics. The story is a bit meaningless, but that was never the strong point of Tomb Raider games. A great game for fans of the Uncharted series or Tomb Raider/Indiana Jones enthusiasts like me.

    Great reboot to a classic franchise, great gameplay, story, sound. I loved everything about this game, it kept me engaged and wanted me to find all secrets and collectibles. This game had me excited going forward with this franchise.

    I highly recommend this game.

    I managed to get this game at a steal for £2.50 on the PS Store and for that price I couldn't say no. Even if I didn't like the game it wasn't exactly gonna be anything lost. I haven't exactly played a huge amount of tomb raider games. I played a few levels of the original tomb raider on the PS one and briefly played 2, 3 and underworld. When I was younger I wasn't so much into puzzleI managed to get this game at a steal for £2.50 on the PS Store and for that price I couldn't say no. Even if I didn't like the game it wasn't exactly gonna be anything lost. I haven't exactly played a huge amount of tomb raider games. I played a few levels of the original tomb raider on the PS one and briefly played 2, 3 and underworld. When I was younger I wasn't so much into puzzle solving games but these days they are more enjoyable.
    So far TR definitive addition has been good fun. Been playing for a few hours and the game looks and feels great. I will update this review upon completion. Even if you pay full price at £15 I would still say that's a fair price for what this game has to offer. You find resources to upgrade your weapons. You find weapon parts to unlock more upgrade options. There is loads of different types of hidden collectibles that tell you things about different characters.
    A couple things I didn't like but nothing major.
    When you collect an item with text and it reads it back to you in that characters voice it comes out the TV and the controller making there be an echo from controller to the TV. You can disable the controller speaker in the menu but I don't understand why this was done.
    There is no option to crouch or sneak. Having it duck and stuff automatically around enemies makes the player feel like they have less control. I would rather have full control over dealing with enemy encounters.
    There is a lack of trophies/achievements. I have been playing for around 2 and a half to 3 hours. Found quite a few collectable and finished a few parts of the game and not had a single trophy. Apparently there is 51 but why isn't there any come up for doing anything story related. Like upgrade your axe, find the bow, open the doors to the tomb using the axe, kill your 1st deer, you get the message. Obviously I haven't removed points off my review for this but still it would be nice to have a trophy or 2 after playing the game for hours.
    I am not sure if this game really needs a sprint option. This is just an opinion and I haven't taken it into consideration with my score. It feels weird playing a game without sprint these days. Being honest thou the map is built well so you always got some near you so its not like you need to spend ages running from place to place. Although if they did include a sprint it would have been good aswell as it gives the player 1 extra form of control over the character. With the lack of crouch option there isn't many ways to actually control the character. The climbing and stuff is cool thou. You can of course jump, clamber, climb and so on. But when you are on the ground it's basically just move and shoot. I can understand why this approach was taken thou as this is a remake of tomb raider which had the same type amount of control over the character.
    But overall this game is amazing and the story is awesome aswell. If you are thinking about purchasing this game then for the price you can't go wrong. Even better if you can get it on offer.    … Expand

    The game looks like a female version of first three parts of Uncharted with the same good things and the same problems as well. In some moments I like the gameplay and in other moments I want to drop it.     Yesterday I completed this game on the PS4.

    First the positive things: the graphic still looks nice. The climbing parts were sadly very rare and short, but felt good. And I somehow liked the death animations of Lara, when she (or better: the player) failed again some stupid reaction test or quick time event (= QTE). The neutral: the story is.. Okay...     The neutral: the story is.. Okay... I can life with that. Nothing to complain about.
    The characters are often times living clichés and the intentions of the characters and the way how the story unfolds is apparent.
    You get achievements for almost everything.

    The negatives:
    If you expected a classical Tomb Raider with lots of jumping and climbing, moving boxes around, searching for ridiculously hard to spot leavers... Forget it. I can only remember two puzzle at the end of the game, and they worked not like that and they drove me insane. (Other puzzles might have been present, but were not memorable)
    The shaky cam made me almost puke. Every little movement made the camera shake like a small boat on the open sea.
    Laras character development was "interesting". When she killed her first deer, she almost cried. Half an hour later she started to murder other humans in dozends without a problem. The amount of corpses in this game was insane. Our injured Lara even waded through waters, filled with body parts. This might give her a deadly infection later.
    And of course there are the already mentioned QTE. Nothing makes you feel more stupid than repeating a sequence of this interactive game movie for the fourth time, because you screwed up the timing or pressed the wrong button.
    And then we are having awful things like this immersion destroying pseudo open world. Lots of stuff you can find and collect for unlocking other stuff is scattered everywhere in those places. A classic case of stretching the game time. I tried to collect as few stuff as possible, because I quit playing the successor of this game, because of too much collecting and loosing motivation.
    All your weapons can be upgradet with ridiculous upgrades. But they always feel underpowered, no matter how many upgrades you invested into them. And of course Lara got some soft-rpg abilities for leveling up her skills. Does she really need that? (and because I already played the successor the answer of the developer seems to be "yes")
    The enemies are mostly humanoid, usually stupid, blind and only a danger for your life, when they are attacking with a dozend people at once. Akd they often appear in huge quantities. The second enemy type (or group) that is introduced at the end of the game and seemed to be overpowered and frightening at first, felt like weaker than the standard enemies, when I had to fight them. The final fights were underwhelming.

    I am glad I was able to finish the game, but I will not replay this game a second time. I also don't want to rewatch a sub-mediocre movie. Some nice eye candy can not fix the issue. It is a crude mix of far too many genres. There is almost nothing left of the old Tomb Raider DNA.

    I always wanted to play those games, cool that all 3 are in one package now. So I finished 1 recently, as it is so old already, this game is pretty good! Played it on PS5 and it still looks very good! The only thing which I did not like is the island itself, and the quicktime events, but this is personal reference. The game is great, Lara is "real" maybe she turns into a killer a bit tooI always wanted to play those games, cool that all 3 are in one package now. So I finished 1 recently, as it is so old already, this game is pretty good! Played it on PS5 and it still looks very good! The only thing which I did not like is the island itself, and the quicktime events, but this is personal reference. In addition, the PS4's light bar changes color according to Lara's health status. While the use of the PS4's speaker for audio clips is cool,Tomb Raider on the PS4 looks phenomenal. Lara's character model was redesigned using new tech and the results are quite amazing. This version also includes a new side mission, a new tomb, two digital books, a making of doc and all the DLC released. In addition, the PS4's light bar changes color according to Lara's health status. While the use of the PS4's speaker for audio clips is cool, the effect is ruined since the TV also plays the audio simultaneously. If you've never played "Tomb Raider" before, then you're in for quite a treat. It plays like Far Cry 3, but with a Resident Evil 4 over-the-shoulder combat mechanic. However, if you've already played the PS2 version, you might not need this. With the exception of the prettier graphics and minor new additions, there's not much new. I would rate this with an 8.3 out of 10.… Expand

    Very well crafted game. A bit short but well worth the price on sale. If you played the old Tomb raiders you know the game is not only about combat but also puzzles. Here the puzzles of the main story are quite easy, while those of optional stuff can be quite challenging. I like this choice.

    This is actually my favorite Tomb Raider game ever! Its what got me hooked onto the series. I love the story and the gameplay! Very action packed and really fun. Ive actually replayed it many times, that's just how good it is lol.

    A really well-made game. I love the gameplay, it's just so smooth. The story was very compelling and the graphics are top notch for a remaster of a ps3 game. The multiplayer is also not dead, even in 2021. I got right into a lobby on a thursday afternoon (UK time).

    The game is normally on sale for 3£ so I highly recommend buying it on sale!

Но если вы любите приключенческие игры вообще, или данную серию в частности, то скорей всего захотите пройти её до конца. В целом ощущение от игры как 3.5 из 5 максимум.     This new instalment of this legendary character is great, it’s more brutal, the story is very intriguing, searching through hidden tombs is fun, the puzzles could have been better but weren’t bad. I didn’t care at all for the guns in the game which is why I stuck to the bow and arrow found it so much more fun.

    Sin duda muy desaprovechado.

    Eso sí, la jugabilidad no es del todo mala. Hay grandes secuencias de acción, grandes secuencias de misterio y un poco de terror. Aunque lo cierto es que algunas partes son muy exageradas y, como dije, no encajan con la historia que se está contando. Sí que hacen falta un par de Bosses, y los que hay no valen mucho la pena. Así mismo, los QTE dejan mucho que desear.

    Aún así sigue siendo un juego divertido, con grandes aventuras, un buen número de coleccionables, y muchos enemigos por vencer.

    GRÁFICOS:
    Si bien el juego se trata de una remasterización de un título para Playstation 3, el apartado gráfico sigue siendo decente al día de hoy: no va a quitarnos el aliento, pero sí cumple con una calidad suficiente para disfrutar de los modelados y escenarios.

    La narrativa sí que es brillante, cada cinemática y conjunto de tomas son dignos de una película 5 estrellas, y la dirección de las mismas sin duda será atemporal.

    SONIDO:
    La música es verdaderamente cinematográfica, las piezas son emocionantes e irradian aventura, y el doblaje es muy bueno, creo que uno de los mejores que he probado, y el uso de la bocina en el DualSense da un buen sabor de boca.

    Junto con las tomas visuales, hacen de Tomb Raider un juego totalmente disfrutable a nivel cinematográfico.

    INNOVACIÓN:
    Un juego de Playstation 3, remasterizado para Playstation 4 y que yo lo estoy jugando en Playstation 5.

    This tomb raider episode gives a positive direction to the franchise. The story is interesting, a graphic is pretty nice, the gameplay is fun. It has very few bugs, glitches or annoying situations. Sometimes the puzzles are nonsense a little but they are forgivable.

    The game has incredible gameplay and AI and I liked the story even though it's a typical type of tomb raider stories the graphics was fine I liked every bit of the game but I didn't like the fact that I have to play online to have the platinum trophy.

The characters bodies and faces are pretty good, though not comparable to today's standards. Although not many people like the QTE, I personally loved them all for providing a dynamic variety to its gameplay.
    Secondly, the gameplay is pretty good, but not for everyone. The exploration side is similar to RPG's but limited and mostly necessary to improve the combats. Specifically the features to add skills and upgrades to weapons requires considerable amount of time hunting and searching for items. Personally I disliked the fact that I had to spend too much time on this "side quests" for upgrading features, though many people will find it entertaining as they explore the island. When it comes to combat, the mechanics and animations are fantastic; it was my favorite feature alongside the QTE: Neat, enjoyable, and not overwhelming enemies.
    Lastly, the story is appealing, but maybe not as much as its predecessors in the franchise or other competitors like Uncharted. The whole island mystery is enough to keep the player intrigued about the next part, but it doesn't create that hype that many other narratives have. The characters are not well-developed and Lara is clearly shown as the single main character in the game without much development for other ones, but still it's emotional at some parts.
    Overall, I recommend this game for anyone, but it's not a "must play" in my opinion. I would say that it could be a strong suggestion for PS4 owners, but it doesn't stand out as much as other titles in the Adventure-Action genre like Uncharted. Nonetheless, it's worth giving it a try if you liked previous Tomb Raider games or simply love adventure games. It's difficult to recommend this title In 2021 having so many other games that are more enjoyable on newer consoles, but it's excellent to get started into the Tomb Raider franchise, which is awesome as a whole.    … Expand

    I like everything about this game except how on my PS4 the camera rotation sometimes slows to a crawl for seemingly no reason whatsoever. Sometimes it makes me die, sometimes it makes me take 20 years to look around a room. If I pause the game for a while and then go back to it the camera works and rotates just fine.     Played this game on PC many years ago and now in 2021 on PS4Pro and it still very good. Square Enix did a great reboot. The only thing I don't like is that some magic/fantasy stuff is present in all 3 rebooted Tomb Raider games but probably it's their the only drawback.

    Lo he jugado dos veces: primero en la PS3 y después la versión remasterizada en PS4. El comienzo de una trilogía que dista bastante de la filosofía de los primeros Tomb Raider, pero que está en mi opinión, magistralmente ejecutada.
    Eso sí, hay que estar preparado para sufrir con Lara.

    Loved every minute of this game. Tomb raider 2013 has the perfect balance of a great story, good combat, fun puzzles and fun trophies (offline) imo. Online trophies suck though. All in all, this game is definitely in my top 5 games of all times and I liked it even better than the uncharted games.

    游戏属于线性游戏，但有一定的自由探索空间，甚至还有隐藏的古墓，但古墓的解谜都太简单。除此之外还有收集和挑战，收集如果是收集劳拉的服装或者武器的外观就好了，找一堆GPS感觉没什么意义，而且在拿到区域藏宝图和点满生还者技能后，收集基本就没什么挑战了，顺着地图找就行。唯一难的是挑战，每个区域都有不同的挑战，没有位置提示，这才叫收集要素。
    音乐没有什么记忆点（好像没太多配乐，确实也不需要），音效倒是不错，枪声的回声很大，而且有立体声音效。

    缺点：
    不足的地方一个是镜头晃动有点太大容易晕，营地的菜单选项闪烁太厉害费眼睛，还有就是遇到一些影响体验的bug，ps4上面崩溃过3次，而且查看文献和收藏品界面的文字经常出现乱码（繁体中文），扣一分。
    选的普通难度，其实敌人比较蠢，两个站一起的哥们，一个被劳拉放倒了，另一个居然完全没有反应，只要没有被看到就不会被发现。老游戏这一点还是可以理解。
    人物的建模除了劳拉都差了点意思，除了过场动画，游戏过程中角色说话除了劳拉其他人嘴巴基本不动，有一个场景Samantha躺下了在睡觉，眼睛确睁很大，她一个亚洲脸，睡觉不闭眼，真的很像鬼。    … Expand

    The first ps4 game i finished on ps5. Unlike uncharted series, it got me hooked and no boring moments. Its sure is outdated playing it on ps4 but on ps5, it feels like a new game with its 60fps and im guessing its in 4k... the gameplay is super fun i like it way better than uncharted series. Going to things that i dont like... the ending where they are trying to building up the game as introductory of Lara Croft or sort of a reboot... it didn't hit the mark for me.. it didn't connect... the enemy AI is not perfect... overall, its not a perfect game but its fun ane beautiful, i want to give it an 8.4 out of 10.

    Absolutely fantastic game. Its tomb raider so its a very long running series. Story, characters are somewhat lacking but lara only is very likable. I personally enjoy this way more than the uncharted series because the replay is much higher than uncharted and that you can upgrade your weapons ij this game. Absolutely a must play for anyone that likes adventure games

    Me and alot of friends who play this have so much fun with iT.
    Graphics are very Nice and realistic and the 60 frames per second on ps4 runs smooth as butter . This is one of the best games on ps4 richt now

    Expceptional game! The story was meaningful and full of emotion. The weapon upgrades v impactful to gameplay, made finding mods and searching for scrap worthwhile. Good skill point system, basic but effective. Hint- make sure to gather all the collectibles as you progress through the storyline, not after its end, as it gives you much more backstory and understanding of the main plot.

    Almost perfect game in my opinion. Great balancing great combat great level up system the game is just fun from beginning to end. Lara is the perfect balance of Old and New Shoes I complete badass and you and when she's covered in dirt and bloody you still feel a connection with her. Definitely the high point of the series it went downhill from here.

    Was a fan of the previous TR games, I spent 6.5-7 hours playing just the story. I enjoyed the gameplay/combat and the fast paced action of the game. However, I wasn't engaged with the story, the characters or exploring the tombs.     I first played this game in 2017 and as a trophy hunter was disappointed at the multiplayer requirements. I love the story mode and game play enough to come back in 2020 to finish off the platinum. Highly recommended that you check out guides and boost mp trophies with partners with the same trophy goals.

I would have wanted a bit more time to see her grow in her struggle to survive.

    Gameplay

    All good. The shooting is fine, the riddle and tombs are very interesting and u can stealth kill most of the enemies. I would have loved if they contributed more to the survival aspect, more really necessary hunting and more.

    Scenery

    It looks really really good even in 2020. Lara is beatiful detailed and the isle has very goodlooking parts and you have some difference in it. But I would have liked more places to go to.

    Summary

    Brilliant. Finished it in a week, couldnt put it down. Good pacing, fun gameplay, goos story. A real treat, if I could but the devs of this game a beer I would. If you keen on buying, dont hesitate, you wont be disappointed.

    This is a great game with some really beautiful locations, an interesting story and a likeable main character. Maybe a bit too much of an emphasis on combat instead of exploration and tomb raiding. It doesn't seem like Lara Croft. I hope they go back to classic Lara after this trilogy. Still a definite recommend though.

    Great game! It has the the spirit of Tomb Raider, the action scenes are thrilling, and gameplay is very cool. I enjoyed one thing, which only this game has - it's very helpful to collect collectables here! Because they tell you the main plot and give you some details about what's going on here. It's very convenient and resourceful.

Tomb Raider is an engaging experience with amazing platforming and an engaging combat system, with an okay narrative and simple gameplay I really hoped for at least a better story and better puzzle design.     When I was younger the only tomb raider I ever played was the demo on the PS1. So I was very excited about a reboot and WOW. This game was awesome. Action packed and everything I would expect in a Tomb Raider Game. The environments to the Survival Tactics. And the Bow added to her arsenal was a very nice touch. Great game

I know Tomb Raider has been around a lot longer than Uncharted but this game bears striking resemblance to how Uncharted is structured. They're both treasure hunting games with hollywood-esque action, standard cover shooter combat and QTEs.

    However I was pleasantly surprised    I remember when this game first was coming out I was pretty skeptical it would be anything more than mediocre. I know Tomb Raider has been around a lot longer than Uncharted but this game bears striking resemblance to how Uncharted is structured. They're both treasure hunting games with hollywood-esque action, standard cover shooter combat and QTEs.

    However I was pleasantly surprised that this game managed to elevate itself above that series pretty significantly in the gameplay department, by doing more with the environments, exploration and methods of traversal, the character progression system, even the combat feels weightier and less floaty. Not to mention I think the more cohesive world design fits the treasure hunting theme nicely, since you can always return and wrap things up if you missed items without having to redo whole chapters again.

    That's not to say the game isn't without a few shortcomings. The setting and more supernatural things going on were great, but the supporting cast failed to breathe any life into the story for me. Lara is fine but the rest of the crew is pretty boring and forgettable.

    Secondly, the 10 or so optional tombs are appreciated, but all of them stop at one easy to solve puzzle. It would have been cooler if these had been more like mini dungeons than one-off puzzles that take no more than 3 minutes to solve.

    It wont blow your mind but it's definitely a fun experience worth playing, and one of the better examples of this genre gameplay-wise.    … Expand

    Great gameplay and graphics but the story is weak.The characters other than Lara Croft you just do not care for or see very much.

    I finally got the game and i'm amazed with it. The story is top notch, good soundtrack, great enviroments, fantastic set pieces. Although, i think the start was a bit slow, which is the main reason i'm giving it a 9 instead of 10. A lot of emotional scenes, which feels different (in a good way) from next games (i played ROTTR and SOTTR first). Amazing final boss fight and shocking twists.I finally got the game and i'm amazed with it. The story is top notch, good soundtrack, great enviroments, fantastic set pieces.     The Tomb Raider reboot was a lot of fun. Lara is portrayed great and the game play and story were also very engaging.

    It's only fitting that this game plays so much like Uncharted, seeing as how that series was dubbed "Dude Raider" at its inception. This game is a solid work of art, and a good ride.

    I was absolutely wowed by this game the first time I played it through because I was paying so much attention to the cut scenes and redesigned Lara Croft was a joy to behold...But having had a year to sit and consider the game's broader meaning, the second time around the game's flaws are all the more apparent.
