But then you hit world tier 5 and there isn't much more to find here - only an endless exhausting grind loop doing the same missions in the same locations over and over again. A lot more bugs have appeared over time, bugs that have a significant impact on the experience overall. If the game was done by world tier 5 I would gladly say I got my money's worth, and then some. It would be a 8.5/10. But since this is a live service game it has to be scored as a live service game. Also note that the base game isn't the full game, it's a scaled down version of the full game. The gold edition with the year pass is. So if you don't want hideous grind walls to unlock a specific class (gunner) or wait for the content that is being delayed 'cause you didn't get the year pass, well... you are probably better of with the year pass. All things considered: The slow but steady decay and the monetization of this game just lowers the score significantly. Until you hit that wall there is a lot fun to be had here though and that experience alone is worth your money. Expand

I gave this game a 4/10 3 months ago because the developers have done much to address its problems.
The first Division is still better and there is still zero plot in this game, but its much better now. Thanks Ubisoft!

Story mode needed to be rushed through to get to ranking system that matters. DLC took so long to come out the repetition of missions made game stagnant. Glad i didn't buy the season pass.

This is what the first Division should've been! A much bigger improvement from the first game in every way possible and it will only get better from here. I can see this game becoming even better down the line. There are some small annoying bugs such as the sound, and the fact that armor in this game doesn't mean anything from level 1 - 30.
But everything else in my opinion is much better!

The Loot: This game rewards exploration and gunning down enemies with loot, lots of loot. As looter shooters go, this one does what it is meant do with plenty of loot to upgrade and guns dropping off enemies regularly. Why other games that are more frugal with their loot don't take a leaf out of this game. Players want to be rewarded with new, better, shinier items. So give it to us! Loot is varied and has lots of different stats. So far, I'm very happy.

Gameplay: I've enjoyed it for the most part. There are times where you get suddenly rushed from a new wave and find yourself in a position where you are just surrounded without being able to do anything. Also the cover mechanic can cause problems at times. Playing alone is very difficult and finding a group through matchmaking can be tricky if you want to complete side missions and events. When everything is working well, you have a good group and you are taking on the main missions or side missions together, it's really fun.

Technical issues: I have had the game crash about 3-4 times in about ten hours (on PS4 pro) I have also experienced the odd frame rate drop, enemy gliding across the floor, etc... There was also a freeze when trying to examine clans and looking at friends' clans.

Overall: This is obviously early impressions. I will need to play much more to give a comprehensive endgame review. The gun play is fun. There is enough variety and challenge from the AI to keep things varied. Like I say, some of the ways enemies just appear all around you can make things messy and that doesn't lend itself to the cover based shooter it is trying to be. With a group its really fun. Solo, it can get very frustrating because as you level up things get too hard on your own. There are going to be obvious comparisons with Anthem. I personally prefer this as someone who is keen on creating builds and love looters. This to me is more of a looter. you can see your gear as soon as you pick it up and it drops frequently better stuff. I'd give it an 8 now but potential to get a 9 if the endgame is there.

The Division 2 suprised me totally, after a bit disappointing from the first game. What makes The Division 2 so much better is the fact that Massive Enterainment have listened from the players. Not one of my friends plays this game still so I am stuck solo which is fine but to have enemies spawn literally on top of you is not ideal. Think Ghost Recon was bad where they spawned out of thin air? This game tops that easily. You will have 10 guys come out and there will be no cover? The hell? This biggest pet peeve is the enemies will run 9 times faster than you. How is this part of the game play? You have to run all over this map at the slowest run I have seen since Uncharted but they run like an olympian. Its crashed 19 times in 120 hours. Its a bit repetitive as well. You really have nothing to do unless you like to spend hundreds of hours with terrible RNG for those few pieces of loot that will really do nothing in terms of killing enemies. 7-8 mags of level 499 AR to kill a boss should not be a thing. Still spongy like the first game. Its a buy only in the bargain bin. I wish it was not true but out of my entire clan and 17 personal friends they have all ditched the game and they were huge D1 fans - they got me into it but this installment just stinks. Expand

Graphics are stunning, rivaling Red Dead 2 and perhaps surpassing it in terms of realism, and the best I've ever seen on PS4. Notice that anyone criticizing visuals has yet to offer a better example? I'm a lifelong DC resident of 35 years, and this has been such a joy around every corner - I've taken down bad guys at literally four places of work, which is surreal and amazing at the same time. Yeah, it gets a little repetitive here and there, but not nearly as grindy feeling as the first game, which I never finished. There was clearly so much effort put into this game and it's been just awesome, rivaling Spiderman, Horizon, RDR2, etc. as one of my favorite PS4 games in the last 5 years. I played the whole thing solo and am fired up for the new DLC episodes! It's not perfect, but it is a solid 9 for me. Get some.

    Pros:
    + Amazing graphics
+ DC is brimming with realistic detail and a joy to explore
+ Shooting is fun, fast, and challenging
+ Music kicks in to add that badass feel you want during fights
+ Has that addictive quality so many games lack these days
    + High replay value

    Cons:
    - No stealth
    - Annoying voice acting
    - Forgettable story, characters not fleshed out
    - Always online, no pause button (shouldn't need online if I'm playing solo)
    - Somewhat repetitive. You'll fight bad guys and that's mostly it. But it's always so fun, I don't mind.

Same weapons, same skills, same UI, same environment minus snow, same enemies, same level design, after clearing the entire map, its gets captured again. So now you have to do everything again to get a gear with score on it but has lesser damage than the current one.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After really losing the will to live with Destiny and struggling to find a game which wasn't Battle Royale based The Division 2 has been a game well worth our collective times.
We picked up the Division for a fiver at the beginning of the year, and loved that game. I guess getting something way after patches are put in place gave us the better experience. This meant the Division 2 was a launch day purchase.
Getting to level 30 was an enjoyable experience, then the game flips the crap out of everything and you realise that trip to level 30 was just effectively a glorified training programme, the real fun doesn't begin until you flip, then your specialisations and total level really kicks in, its like having 2 games. The feeling of success when you complete level 30 faced with the fact you have to do it again but this time missions are more involved, with a team of 4 just plain crazy at times.
for those shouting its too repetitive etc - I'm not sure I could ever get bored with constant gun battles, strafing runs and all sorts of carnage around you. Do I care the story line is a bit weaker than, the first one? NO NO NO - more guns, more bangs and certainly more fun. Loved that this game wasn't given the usual pre release Hype - makes it even more of a special thing.
We haven't even hit the DLC yet!

The gameplay lag is terrible and its in the design of the game. As soon as you play with other players maybe from other countries far away the latency causes the enemies to teleport all around you and kill you without even knowing where it came from. Id say Anthems engine runs much better regarding connection while playing.

The other fundamental problem is that the loot you pick up means basically nothing going through the tiers until you reach max tier. There is no reason to invest in something you like because you will pick up something pretty soon which is better.

This whole endgame thing is actauly fake. It just stretches out the time for you to get to actaully start working on your build when you reach 500+ score gear and guns. Then the real endgame begins. Its all actually just a waste of time getting there.

I do enjoy playing the game though. The gunplay is great. Skills are much more effective than D1 was. The missions are fun and doesnt feel repetitive. Enemy AI is great. But all this does not make it better than Anthem... Anthem is something new and more exciting.

I compared it to Anthem because reviewers used D2 to piss on Anthem and I think that is biased and unrealistic with all the points I made here.

Despite having a blast slugging through D2 (and consider myself a fan of the original) there is definitely that 'something missing' with this iteration to truly separate it from the new york outing... The Washington based story was just not as impactful for me and sadly the last gen and weirdly plastic looking human characters really took me out of the story experience noticeably marring the quality of the campaigns cutscenes.

D2 shows me how in future publishers like ubi could truly benefit from allowing their devs time and breathing space to create something far more meaningful and transformative in the ever busy gamespace instead of going for the cash-grab sequels.

    Middle
Story. Sort of hard to believe that the game has advanced 7 months and your character showing up finally makes a difference where everyone else muddled around doing not much of anything till you showed up.
Weapon Talents are uninspirational and boring and there isn't a large number of talents to choose from.

NPCs and their histories. Seems to me that a missed opportunity with this one. In Division 1 we learned through cut scenes and mini-missions things that motivated the important NPC's in the game. Division 2 makes at best a half-hearted effort with most of the info coming in the form of recordings and echos.

    The Bad.
Dark Zones are havens for trolls who somehow seem to be able to drop you in seconds regardless of your 500+ build. Enjoyment is low, player participation in them sounds low as well based on the upcoming patch and fixes they are going to implement to force players into those areas. Factor into it that the best gear can be found only there forces you to have to tolerate its existence.

Cover issues still persist and can get you killed if not careful.

Workbenches no longer let you put talents you want on to weapons and you have to have a suitable version to smash into the one you want to keep. The old system was way better and more flexible.

Projects can be held up by super rare loot drops of hex wrenches and toy cars. Some say its glitched and honestly wouldn't surprise me.

NPC faces. Did the people who worked on Mass Effect Andromeda get jobs with Ubisoft. The hair and faces render horribly in the game and are laughably bad.

Overall. I am gaming with my buddies and this will likely be our hang out game for the foreseeable year. As launches go this one had the best hands down over (BF5, BO4, Fallout 76, Anthem). Many have said this is what a looter shooter should look like and I tend to agree. Even though there are still issues and preference choices I am not fond of the great thing is they have a years worth of content ahead to make improvements and they have given us a solid enough platform to deserve to show us what more they can do with the game in my book.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This following review is more for people who care about their appearance more than the gameplay and mechanics, since those are more than fine.
My main issue is that my character's appearance changed and I don't see them having the intention on adding the full on customisation anytime soon, which is kinda ridiculous, seeing as they are charging real money for premium credits in turn of being able to buy apparel and sh*t.
It definitely is an improvement of the first one, but this bug is game breaking to me. My character looks like a neanderthal and it's ruining my personal gameplay.
I don't give a sh*t if it's kind of a harsh rating, but I'm seriously pissed off and I do not recommend anyone buying it (people who care about their character's appearance that is) until this issue got fixed. The support is also full of sh*t since they messaged me and told me that they were going to fix it as soon as possible, but when reading recent patch notes they said that the full on customisation won't be coming any time soon which f*cked me right off. It's already in the game and they act as if it's the hardest thing to add onto the white house base of operations. Seriously incompetent in my opinion, one of the worst within the last year including the disappointment that Fallout 76 was. Wildlands was great compared to this, very unfortunate, I was looking forward to this game only to have my experience ruined by some amateur mistake.
Was gonna give this maybe an eight 8/10, but that's not happening, lmao.

Wow, what a game! I have been playing games for over 35 years amd this has to be one of the best game experiences I have ever encountered. Some of the battles as a team with my friends have been fantastic, reminding a lot of the famous firefight scene in the film 'Heat'.
So much content at launch, it's a good game solo but a lot better in teams, even some of the matchmaking missions have been great. What has surprised me is how good the AI is, charging and flanking, the different factions do vary it up a bit. I thought I would miss out on the variety of enemy types compared to other fantasy looter shooters but this hasn't been the case.
It is just fun wandering around the map, I am hardly using fast travel. I am really enjoying the game and have only just reached level 30, not yet finished the main missions to trigger the endgame (supposed to be the best part).

The detail in the world is amazing. the map is huge with lots going on and tons of loot to find.

I am an original day one Division 1 player who has logged over 1000 hours. That game had issues at launch and this does too, much of which I was willing to overlook. Now, there is the frame rate issue which makes the game unplayable when in high octane moments. My character takes forever to reload a weapon whilst the enemies seem to be operating at 100%. This is especially upsetting when doing a daily on challenging which is difficult enough without giving the NPC's an advantage. This frame rate issue is apparently due to UBI's servers being poop.

Also, there is the issue of the game glitching when getting shocked. To the point of me being shocked (for close to a minute) and the next second, I get the "Mission Completed" screen when I basically just started the mission. Then we have the load screen which seems to log you into the game, just to tell you a second later that you were disconnected and to check your internet connection (which I know is fine)

The other big one IMO, is the game feels like Division 1 to me; in the sense of I'm already bored. In D1, it was due the incursions being impossible so there was nothing to do after beating the game. A few updates later and the game was playable again. After doing the Incursions, all that was left was the DZ until it became the whole server standing in circles flagging rogue repeatedly without going rogue or the whole server just waiting for someone else to go rogue and chase them for 15 min (guilty) but it was out of pure boredom. Division 2 feels that way now. I've done all the strongholds and rid the map of Black Tusk. It seems all there is to do now is PVP which was inevitable, but it came too soon. I'm sure it will get better once the raids are here, along with other content. It would've just been nice to have more to do for now. Will update my review down the road.

Texture pop in is horrendously bad. You can literally sit and wait several minutes for textures to load in it's that bad, even on the PS4 PRO and Xbox One X. The first game suffered this a little bit but the Division 2 suffers it A LOT! It really does take away from immersion. It suffers from a lot of immersion breaking things, be it from bugs, or poor game design. For example. I found tons of objects floating around in mid air. Normally you find the odd 1 or 2 floating objects in a Ubisoft game, but the Division 2 has hundreds. You can loot items from black chests, rucksacks, suitcases, toolboxes and such. However, these items are placed all over the world, and i mean all over, and it very silly places where they simply shouldn't be. For example, you will see yellow tool boxes literally everywhere! In a children's playground, 1 second later another at the side of the road, turn around and find another in alleyway. Why on earth would all these toolboxes be laying around like this? It's as if one of the developers went a bit trigger happy copy and pasting the lootables all over the map and just placed them in at total random all over the map. It's part of what makes the map seem so poor and not as impressive or as believable or as atmospheric as the first game. It's like the map was made and then half of the other stuff was just dumped in and checked off the list. Toolboxes? Yup got them in. Rucksacks? Yeah got them, whack all that stuff in. Same thing with gas tanks and exploding barrels. It makes no sense to have them littering the entire map everywhere you look. The game takes place 6 months or so after the first game. The first game was set at Black Friday and was very Christmas themed. The Division 2 has a very small Christmas theme. There is a small Christmas market, and you will find the odd dead Christmas tree, wreath and Christmas present laying on the ground, and it's always the same green Christmas present copied and pasted in, but that's it! In an outbreak like this nobody would go and take all the decorations down. There would still be Christmas everywhere, even Christmas lights would still be working. But there simply isn't much of a sign it was Christmas time when the outbreak happened. The game world isn't consistent or believable. The developers said it would be more single player friendly. But that's not strictly true. Even though some enemies have been made less bullet spongey, there are still a lot of big bullet sponge enemies here. Ridiculously so. You can unload all your ammo, explosives and special weapons and not put a dent in some of them. And you always come up against 3 to 6 or more enemies at a time. They will try and flank you and get you out over cover by throwing molotovs and explosives at you, and then you either get blasted out of cover or set on fire and have to run around to put the fire out. But as soon as you break from cover they fill you full of bullets from all angles so you don't stand much of a chance. And the enemies with the most armour know they can afford to charge right at you because they have 50x the health and armour that you have. They also walk straight through your special weapons like mines, turrets etc and simply smash them like they are nothing. And because the controls are super clunky it makes the whole thing frustrating. The clunky cover will often get you killed. Go to hide in cover and you will vault the cover into a hail of enemy bullets and explosions. Then go to run from one cover to another to avoid a molotov and get stuck on the cover and burn to death. Or flanked, or both. Save points don't help as they sometimes take you too far back. You can spend 1 to 2 hours making your way through a level only for the cover to get you killed then have to go wayyyy back and do it all again. So even though this can be played single player, it's more so tailored towards group play. I also customize my character, a white man, only for my character to pull a reverse Michael Jackson and turn into a black man that looked totally different and stayed that way. There was nothing i could do to change it back to look more like myself. Virtually no clothes to collect in this one at all as they are mostly locked behind microtransactions this time. There is added blood in this one though. And the enemies look cool when taking bullets. It has more cool gadgets this time, even though half of them are pretty pointless. But yeah, some fun to be had but feels unfinished and not as good as the first one. Expand

All in all I was pleasantly surprised by the hours i've put into it so far. SUre, no game is ever perfect...and even this one has it's issues. But, really....they are minimal compared to the overal experience.

All I can say is that I Simply recommend this.

Washington DC is beautiful, as expected from the engine. But it's still a city of locked doors and samey landscapes, unfortunately.

In fact, the main campaign and the sidequests are worse than in the first game. There is more shooting and more shooting (did I mention more shooting) but quite a bit less story. No Times Square shootout, no good personal stories to be found and traced.

In fact, the main campaign and the sidequests are worse than in the first game. There is more shooting and more shooting (did I mention more shooting) but quite a bit less story. No Times Square shootout, no good personal stories to be found and traced. Fewer echoes, seemingly, too.

Another thing The Division 2 severely lacks is the proper power fantasy (well, so did the first game, . but I'm reviewing the second one here). You grow up in levels and gear score, but the game stays relatively the same - one headshot for a basic enemy, a few mags for an elite, twice the ammo supply of the entire squad (in headshots, no less) for an elite bounty tank on the highest difficulty (and what an entertaining 10-15 minutes it is... not). Your skills have pretty long cooldowns and aren't particularly gamechanging, but you always die in a few hits because the game helpfully progresses the world tier and the enemy levels to always keep you challenged. There is little flair in everything too. Diablo or even Borderlands this game is not.

What remains is a competent (but aggravatingly bugged as of March 29th) game. It doesn't crash and you rarely get stuck, but there's a truckload of small things - tutorial voice lines being played every time you leave a group and enter base of operations, interact key in some situations being hard bound to F regardless of your preference (but not all the time, for that would be consistent). Some items being unreachable unless you consumed the content in the right order, et c. It's an AAA product with a paid public hype demo called a "beta" for some reason.

One may be tired of playing Warframe, Destiny, Anthem or whatever else, but Division 2 doesn't bring enough content and variety to justify a full price yet. Maybe in a year or two, with extra DLCs, assuming there is a player base still.

Overall, it’s not hard to see how much potential The Division 2 has. Sure, it’s a good game, but with the proper care, it could be the best game of the year… should the developers decide to fix the easily avoidable bugs that cause major inconveniences. With a fitting plot, marvelous war mechanics, and tons of lore, The Division 2 is about as good as an RPG-Shooter can get. But please Ubisoft, for the love of god, fix the little things. For the reviews, video game review sites, in general, only publish what gets clicks and you can't trust 90% of them as they will report what the players want to hear vs the reality.

    Pros:
Player characters look a little better and only hit with the edge of the Ugly Stick. More hair!
    It's not winter?
    More support/skill options available
The squads that roam the streets to help are...helpful.

    Cons:
Too dang difficult to play solo. Seriously, things coming at you from all side, no method to hide or be covert, they all have grenades and bombs. They one **** or two **** while you are trying to take down 4 at a time, one of then can kill you quickly.

I like difficult, but then there is this level of difficulty where people who play on super hardcore mode in games are comfortable. I don't have time for this stupidity.

Unclear story. Why exactly am I here? were they planning on explaining these camps better?

Nobody helps. Their matchmaking system is not working very well. While in Div 1, i could queue up for the Main Mission (low levels) and find a group within a minute. This game took over 7 minutes.

First main mission bored me. The combat was lame. Didnt feel that same "holy sh*t, this is intense" that I got from the 1st Main mission in Div 1. When I first played Div 1, i ran that first mission about 5x before moved on. I typically did this with all the under max lvl main story events. I have absolutely no desire to rerun that first event.

I'm hoping there will be balance adjustments in the near future that will make this more accessible to the average gamer. For now, I wasted my money.

That's not strictly true. For the most part it is more solo player friendly and the enemies are less bullet spongey. However....there are big long drawn out missions in the game that are not solo player friendly and the enemies are the biggest bullet sponges you will ever witness. In fact its impossible to complete some of the missions alone. Quite early on in the game at level 15 you come across a mission that's set in a bank. You come up against a ton of enemies ranging from relatively weak, medium, hard then super dooper bloomin hard all the way to impossible! And the A.I (artifical intelligence) all of a sudden ramps up to what i've dubbed "Super Anoyying Mode." Enemies all of a sudden know when your crosshairs are pointed on them even if they are hidden in cover and can't see you. This means if you place your crosshairs on a window and sit and wait for a sniper to come out of cover, he won't come out of cover until you move your crosshairs away. But as soon as you move your crosshairs away the sniper will instantly come out of cover and shoot you. Same thing with all the other medium and hard enemies. When you get a whole bunch of them doing it it becomes ridiculous. The second you pop out of cover they will pop out of cover and rain tons of bullets on your from all directions. And while this is going down the weaker enemies will flank you from the sides. And if that was annoying enough enemies in cover will also send radio controlled cars with explosives on that sneak up and blow up from behind. They will also throw explosives and gas you out of cover. And the second you move from cover is pretty much game over as there are way too many of them thhey instanly gun you down before you can even react. The enemies keep respawning too to add insult to injury. Just contstant waves of the from all angles. The harder enemies are big bullet sponges and take a ton of bullets to kill them. And because they only break from cover when your aimed at someone else is makes it that much harder. And the hardest enemies take no damage at all. You can unload every single last bullet and explosive you have and they inficlt no damage at all. Then once you run out of ammo you obviously die. I then tried to complete this mission with 2 other people and we still couldn't complete it after 4 and half hours of trying! So this game isn't as strictly solo player friendly as the developers made it out to be. So that's a big shame. The game also has quite a few bugs. HD textures on trees, signs, pretty much anything fail to load in so items can look very messy and low resolution and often pop in right in front of your very eyes. That's pretty immersion breaking. That happens even on the PS4 PRO, Xbox One X and PC btw. Lots of floating obects, the odd floating person, people clipping into walls and doors etc. Invisible people. You can tell they are invisible as you will see floating water bottles and apples that look like ghosts are drinking water and eating apples. Animals also get stuck. The game world is lacking and feels off. For example when at an outdoor settlement people will be laying sunbathing and children out playing etc. That's ok when the suns out. But they also do it when theres a huge thunderstorm and its pouring with rain. Kids playing video games on a TV yet they are getting soaked in a storm and they continue playing regardless. It lacks those fine attention to details and feels a bit silly for it. The atmosphere of the game world isn't a patch on the first Division game. It feels pretty flat, less alive and looks quite boring. It has some nice touches here and there though, like in the undeground tunnels and such. Facial animations are really behind the times and look over a decade out of date. Some even talk yet the mouth doesn't even move. Gameplay is better than the first game but everything else is better in the first one. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Division 2 is not only the best "looter shooter/shared world MMO" to release yet but is a pristine example of how a game launch should go.

This statement sounds decisive but is objectively true. I'll explain why below

    1. The gun play is better than Div1 and is an overall blast to play- shots feel punchy and recoil feels good
    2. Div2 enemy AI is great. They will talk to eachother, flank you, act aggressive when you are trying to heal, and use their abilities in tandem with one another. The enemy factions each play different too. One faction may be super aggressive always pressing you and pushing you back while others may be more tactical.
    3. The game is nearly bug free. I never experienced a crash or bug at all, the frames never dipped, i never got stuck in a tree- it was great. Sure it's not 100% perfect but it was polished and strong at launch (a thing too rare these days)
    4. The game is generous with loot. You'll find tons of varied and awesome gear doing any of the activities on the map. This game is far more rewarding than even Borderlands and that makes its already enjoyable missions even more fun
    5. The world map is big, detailed, fun to explore, and looks awesome.
    6. There is a ton too do. Main missions, side missions, world activities, dark zone, and more standard PvP. The variety on display here is impressive and at launch Div2 boasts more varied activities than Destiny 2 after multiple DLC updates
    7. The micro-transaction system is non intrusive, and kinda hard to find. All you can buy is clothes and clothes are already easy to get in the normal game so its really optional and a prime example of how such a system should function.
    8. It is easy to find a squad in this game. Takes all of 5 seconds
    9. In Div1 the enemies were bullet sponges- this isn't the case in Div2- you can shoot armor off exposing weak points making them enemies easy to bring down. No matter if it's a boss or just enemies on hard mode- nothing ever feels like a bullet sponge.
----This is just some of the great things about this game---

THE STRONGEST POINT OF THIS GAME IS THIS: THE END GAME IS FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!
Once the game proper ends and you reach the end game a totally new faction appears and invades the areas liberated during the main game. You then have to do these totally new missions to unlock better world tiers and better loot. You are not repeating the same missions with the same enemies (with larger health bars)- you are experiencing an entire new game. They saved half of the content for the end game and this is AMAZING. I have never seen a looter shooter focus so much on the end game before. Once you cap your level you still have 50+ hours of new content to go through.

I've been so impressed with this game. I was honestly gonna skip it after being let down by Destiny 1, Destiny 2, Division 1, and recently Anthem- but then I figured I was already too deep to quit now. I expected another weak launch, short end game, lack of content, bullet sponge ridden mess of a game. I can say with pride that I was wrong on every account. Good job Ubisoft!

I think the reviews say it all, though one thing they all neglect to mention is that this game is tuned for group play, if you intend to solo this you're going to be in for a super rough time.
You need to consider group play for all aspects of this game, even free roaming... giving this a 6 because sometimes I just want to run around on my own and not get gunned down in 4 shots with pin

Loved The Division 1 and played through it a few times.

I like that TD2 gives us more missions and stuff. But I hate that the game is basically unplayable in single player mode. It's just too hard. You pretty much need to play with other people all the time.

Whether you're playing solo or with friends there's something here for everybody. Even if you don't touch all the high tier endgame content there's still an enjoyable campaign to get through and a rewarding loot-progression system to accompany it. None of the time you spend playing this game feels wasted because you're constantly earning new items and loot. (unlike Destiny 2).

And whats more, all future content is going to be free. No need to buy expensive new DLCs that barely add any content (again looking at you Destiny 2).

Everything, except for one glaring problem, has been amped up and the mechanics from the first game have been improved, albeit only somewhat, from the original. While some could argue that very little in the gameplay has actually changed from the first game, what they have done is refined a lot of the stuff from the first one to give the player a bit more choices in how they go about their business here. It's especially evident in the endgame as that has been totally overhauled. With 8 person raids on the way, the decision to leave the last, and most impressive, faction for the endgame was a smart choice as it really keeps things from feeling monotonous. I loved how the world constantly shifts and changes once you hit 30 and have completed the main story. it feels like there's always something to do to get the bigger and better gear. My main concern is with the story or lack thereof. If you don't find any of the collectible phones that try to give the enemies you face a backstory, then the game literally does nothing to explain who each faction is and why they're there. If you thought the first game was sparse on story, this game is almost devoid of any story development whatsoever. Its a shame because there's a ton of potential here that they clearly left some room for a good story to happen. However none of it is ever explained even in the slightest detail and makes the enemies you face just cannon fodder.
With all of the online loot shooters that have released recently, Division 2 has done the most of them all to entice people to play it from day 1. And you won't have to worry about waiting to see what the developers do to fix the game, like with Anthem and Fallout 76. There's a bright future with D2 and I'm glad I went with it. I just hope they include even a little story in the DLC.

If you liked the first division then you’ll probably enjoy this one too.

People giving this 9s and 10s need to get their head out of their arses. Red Dead 2 is a 9. God of War is a 9.
Maybe it’s because fans of shooter looters have been getting nothing but crap these past few months, so the first game that comes around that’s actually decent seems like the second coming of Christ.
and people giving this 1s and 0s just need to grow up and stop carrying on like pork chops.
Even fallout 76 for all the flak its coping (and rightfully so I’ll add) is still a 3 or 4. Maybe even a 2 if Bethesda really F****d you over.

Personally I don’t see myself sticking around for the endgame but it was perfectly adequate time waster. If you’ve got a group of friends that are looking blow some sh*t up together then I’d recommend this game to you. If your a bit sceptical just give the game some time to settle in and pick it up when it drops in price.

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 Review

In my time playing the Division 2 the vast open world has seamlessly drawn me in to experience Washington DC after the catastrophic events of the green poison outbreak, that brought America to its knees. In my time with the game I feel more like a tourist than a highly skilled agent, as exploring the world revealed stories of survival and sacrifice.
From the start the Division 2 offers a fairly in depth character customization as compared to the previous title. Though the intro is pretty bland it does do a good job of providing a basic tutorial for the combat system, and it justifies why your agent is leaving to go to DC.
When it comes down to it the Division 2 is a looter shooter and with every looter shooter it requires two things, good combat and spectacular loot and this game provides it. The moment to moment action is so alive and unique almost every encounter is never the same. Each faction is so unique in how they fight how they look and how they react to the open world and the players decisions in combat. There are four factions in the game, the Hyenas which are your run of the mill gang bangers that steal from anyone they can kill, the True Sons which are a militarized capitalist faction that are taking Washington by force, than there are the Outcast a a group of people that were left for dead on Roosevelt island and are out for blood against anyone who put them there, but once you have taken back Washington and reached level 30 a new faction arises in the form of the Black Tusk a completely private military with the most advanced tech on the battlefield. With all these different factions they are wonderful at making the player feel vulnerable by restricting movement with foam and fire while constantly rushing the player with shotguns or suicide bombers. Now when the shooting stops it's time to loot, and this is where the drive of players will determine their experience as everyone has access to the content available in the game, but the loot that drops is individual to each player. With the looting system really defining how your character progresses, the Division 2’s pacing is one of the best in recent years for the genre as I never once felt under leveled or even overpowered during my time with the game. I was constantly forced into making more tactical decisions about who to shoot first and where I should be. The loot you receive isn't how it was in the first division as you can recieve “Superior” or “High-end” items before level 30, and I can honestly say it makes the first 30 levels way more enjoyable.
So once you pass level 30 you make your way into endgame and this is where the fun begins because you gain access to the games three specializations. The three specializations are the Demolitionist which has a M32A1 Multi-shot Grenade Launcher; Survivalist which has access to an Explosive tipped Crossbow; and the Sharpshooter which has access to a TAC-50 C Rifle. Now with these specializations they aren't meant to change how you play but compliment how you play by giving you access to perks that affect how you perform in combat.
In conclusion I have played for roughly 40 hours and I firmly believe that Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is one to pick up as it comes with enough content to last until the release of Tidal Basin and I can honestly say I can't wait. The Division 2 has all the answers to how looter shooters should be and not the poor excuse that Anthem was, and as a player of Anthem, Destiny, and the first Division I could not recommend this game enough as it comes with enough content to put all those game to rest on day one, so I wouldn't mind spending my money and time to further this experience.

Tom Clancy's The Division 2 has thrown its hat into the ring for being a possible 'Game of the Year' contender for 2019. The post-apocalyptic Washington D.C. is such an eerie site to see, and Agents can roam around solo or in groups to complete missions and earn better loot to upgrade their characters. With more content well on the way, the base game is still packed with heaps of stuff to do - and the huge variety in gear types and stat boosts, modifications, and skills means that 1000+ hours can easily be put into this title over the course of the year. The only bane to these sorts of titles is the 'always-online' internet connection that is required, which does remove some parts of the gaming population from being able to play it, unfortunately.

The Division 2 is easily the best of its type; it has the right balance of fun, challenge, dopamine loot drops, and sweet graphics that all but guarantee I’ll be playing this one for a long, long time to come. If you haven’t jumped in yet and think this might be for you, hesitate no longer - Ubisoft has absolutely nailed it the second time around.

It all adds up to one of the finest games multiplayer role-player shooters out there. This is how gaming with friends is meant to be.
