Ubi says they listen to their fans but while they seem to take one step forward in one aspect, they take several steps back in others. No one asked for many of the things they introduced in GRB and in some cases, the community had even made jokes about it in the past (e.g. "drone wars").

While GRW wasn't perfect, my friends and I loved it and we also liked their vision. However, I didn't like where they started taking that title with the release of GW, leveling weapons in Tier One or with their fantasy themed DLC. The writing was on the wall at that point that they had no intention of sticking with their original direction for GRW but at least we still had the core campaign that was unspoiled by GW or the other content if you didn't wish to play that.

Read the reviews. Even many of the folks who say they like the game admit they don't like where they took the franchise with GRB. It's always a bit of a compromise with these games but this time there was nowhere near enough there for me to justify putting up with all the things I hate about it.

Let's just be honest, even if there was no microtransactions, the game is still a lazy mash up of everything that Ubisoft ASSUMES that players will like, big open world, fancy background story, stealth, shooty looty, it all worked just okay in the first 2 hours and then, boom, it all fell apart. Every 2 damn minutes you get some new gears with higher gear scores and eventually you get numb and tired and don't wanna loot a single crate anymore; the RPG element has absolutely no significance unless you really wanna piss off those metal gear rip-off robots; the story describe the enemy soldiers as " former spec ops", well "former spec ops" my a$$, this is the most stupid AI enemy I have ever experienced in recent years, any enemy soldier from Splintercell Chaos Theory can easily kick their asses, and their stupidity has nothing to do with the difficulty settings, I played on the highest difficulty and they were still stupid in most occasions, the only difference is the damage of each bullets they fire at you, and you have to know that being defeated by dumb but deadly enemy is not fun at all.
This game wasted my time, money and my hope in Ubisoft creating a decent fun game, I hope Ubisoft never recover from the backlash that this game has caused.

There are no more microtransactions in this game than any other game I have played that incorporates microtransactions. They are a non-issue. The game is just a LOT of fun to play. Yes there are glitches and bugs, and some are very hard to understand how they made it through QA. However, they are far from game-breaking, and again, this game is a BLAST to play.

There are other issues with fundamental mechanics, such as the incorporation of gear score - i, for one, live for leveling and gear score and such, but it just doesn't have a prominent enough purpose in this game. But game-breaking?! No. I only wish they'd gone further with it.

Play the game yourselves before giving it negative reviews, people. I will continue to support Ubisoft and their devs, because they make games that are fun, and obviously put a lot of love into them.

The only good thing about this game for me was the quantity of equipment, gear, camo and weapon mods. Breakpoint makes me wish this was Wildlands 2. The world of Auroa is unoriginal and bland, and it's empty 63% of the time. Speaking of the enemy AI, it's stupid beyond belief. They tend to react to nothing, and it's easy to wipe out a full base without serious consequences. Squads are half-assed, the story is hot garbage, and one I can't get invested in. Characters you can't connect with, god-awful voice acting, and after completing a mission, you feel you never made a difference. Unlike in Wildlands, where completing a missing gets you one step closer to defeating the boss of that certain region. Cutscenes are terrible to look at, they all look like plastic when they speak. However, the gameplay is nice, gunplay feels quite fluid, and some animations look nice. Not all though. Graphics are better, and they've added survival mechanics, but it's whether you like it or not. I don't. So, I disabled it. And it's important to mention that none of the regular immersive features existed at launch.

The game has adapted some sort of hub area to hang out in, which strays from a normal Ghost Recon game. You can still find guns around the map, but you can also buy them from the shop of Erewhon, they hub area. Ther's even, you know. MICROtransactions. The game uses this currency system called Skel Credits that you can find around the world. If you don't want to traverse the incredibly boring, bland, unoriginal, stupidly narrow "open" world, you can always buy the guns from the shop. Skel Credits are also used to buy certain clothing items, refill your items gear, and buy vehicle skins. But please, REFRAIN from buying ANY vehicle skin in the game. The only vehicles you'll be using is either helicopters, dirt bikes, or fast travel. Because the world is so narrow, attempting to drive any other car than the ones I listed up there is hellishly tough. There's nothing to see or do in Auroa anyway, and all the best landmarks in the game are not interactable. Missions don't add any incentive to complete them, unlike Wildlands, when you took down a cartel boss you'd get a crap-ton of skill points or even a unique weapon you couldn't find anywhere else.

At launch, you didn't have a Ghost team, which turned of a lot of people from playing the game. Later, they did add a squad, and the end result is pretty bad. See, in Wildlands, your squad was calm, cool, and collected. They'd banter which each other for a few seconds, whether you entered a new province or after a briefing from Bowman. In Breakpoint. your squad of characters are forgettable. They never talk with you. NEVER. Not one conversation can be struck up with them, and I only use them as help for clearing bases, whereas in Wildlands, I kept my squad active to dress them up in serious or sometimes silly outfits, and just have them walk around with me in the beautiful world of Bolivia. The only time your squad in Breakpoint ever talks is either when they complement you on getting a headshot, marking an enemy, or using their abilities. I don't change their outfits much, and usually only change the weapons they carry.

Like said before, the world of Auroa is horrendous to look at and explore. Second worst map since Pokémon: Scarlet and Violet's world. I'm not incentivized to explore, find guns, gear, clothing, skill points, or even enemy bases, something I did a lot in Wildlands. Civilians exist, but they always ask, "What are you doing here?" or "Please don't hurt me!" Then I shoot them for fun. The civilians don't drive, ever, and you tend to wonder why they even bothered adding regular cars in the world, half of which you can't even drive. You can't holster your weapon like Wildlands. It's LITERALLY the definition of one of the "worst open world games ever".

Story is ass. I would review for you, but I haven't completed it yet, and probably never will. But so far, characters are horribly designed, voice acting is -10/10, and character development is just non-existent. Enemy variety is the same as Wildlands, though, as you can guess by now, Wildlands had better enemy variety. First is Sentinel. Much like the cartel, Sentinel are the main enemies you fight throughout the game. Their AI is stupid, but they banter with one another, a lot more I can say for my own damn squad. They don't have many tools to their disposal, and you can stealth a whole base of Sentinel enemies and not get caught. If you do get caught, there aren't any consequences. The next is Wolves, and much similar to Unidad in Wildlands, they are the greater threat. But the Wolves are as easy to defeat as Sentinel. They LITERALLY offer no new challenge. They have more drones, but that's about it. Yeah, I hated going up against the Unidad in Wildlands, and sometimes tried avoiding missions that included them, but at least they differentiated from the cartel.

Breakpoint is just bad. Simple as that.

So overall it has lots of potential if Ubisoft can be innovative enough to expand the gameplay a little so if you want my thoughts on how it plays just think Destiny/Wildlands/ with a little Division influence I think Ubisoft should have waited until next year to fix some minor bugs but I see the game as a potential to be a Destiny like game if Ubisoft would take the time and market it like that for long term development and get rid of the microtransactions that affect the PVP. Ubisoft has really declined in the quality department as of late. Especially in Ghost Recon Breakpoint with their lackluster story, terrible AI, glitches, extremely repetitive gameplay, and it's OUTRAGEOUS monitization! This game was just made to get into your wallet!

Recently picked it up on sale. The reviews don’t give this game justice. I have not encountered any game breaking bugs. Yeah I’ve seen a few glitches here and there but nothing crazy. There is so much customization it’s insane. There is also a ton of stuff to do and it’s fun. Grab it on sale and give it a chance. Not a perfect game but definitely not a bad game at all.

While this game is far from perfect and does have some visual bugs and glitches, it is absolutely really really fun. And that's actually the point right? And that's actually the point right? As far as third person stealth shooters go, hard to find a better one than Breakpoint. The game had a lot of issues at launch as do a lot of games these days, but Ubisoft really has done a excellent job making updates and adjusting a lot of features in the game to make it more like GR: Wildlands and even better, which is what most people wanted. If you saw a review shortly after launch that probably gave this an average or below average review, just know it's a significantly improved game in almost every way since then.

The closest comparison to this game strictly in terms of gameplay, would probably be Phantom Pain, if you never played Wildlands. Obviously, this is not an opinion many have but Breakpoint is EASILY better than Phantom Pain. Again, not something most people would say, however Breakpoint just gives you far more freedom, both in exploration, customization - both character and weapons, and how to play each mission itself. However, if you're coming to this game for story, not really going to find it here. It's basically kind of a rip off of the plot of Captain America Winter Soldier... but gameplay is what makes the game.

Ultimately, this game is somewhat repetitive. However, most video games are repetitive based on whatever type of game it is, doesn't necessarily mean it's not a good game and missions are fun to play through. Microtransactions are another issue people really hated, however there really is nothing in the game you ever need to purchase with real money, 90% of the things in the game can be found in the game world. You just also can spend money to get them faster, this shouldn't really matter for most people. The game does require you to always be online and have an internet connection. This may be an issue for some, it really isn't great they made it like this since its definitely not needed for single player at all. However, if you have a decent enough internet connection, it shouldn't be an issue. I rarely ever got kicked off the server, it never effected my enjoyment of the game.

The game is really fun and you can customize your entire experience in the game. There are four difficulty settings and you can completely customize the HUD you see on the screen, including nothing at all, making it a very cinematic immersive experience. So you can make it unforgiving if you're spotted by enemies, requiring you to go completely silent, or you can make the game allow you to go loud and get into fire fights. the experience can be tailored to however you prefer to play and attack the objectives.

Ultimately, this game was heavily criticized since it was launched and got pretty bad reviews. However, it's been really improved since then. You may not enjoy it as much as I did, but if the game looked cool and intrigued you when it came out, but the negative reviews made you afraid to try it, I would say you'll almost definitely like it now, especially given it's pretty cheap anywhere you find it.

There are few games that immerse you this well. Last year, it was Red Dead Redemption 2. This year, it's Ghost Recon Breakpoint. This game nails tactical stealthy gunplay and I love it! A beautiful world to explore and the story is great also. Oh yeah... this blows Wildlands away! Absolute Must Buy!

The open world in this game is extremely boring. The physics are beyond horrible. The driving in this game feels terrible and it is just tacked-on garbage. The cars barely have any physics. The missions and level design are boring and repetitive. The greedy developers made the game so you can buy you're way to success, rather than actually playing the game. The running animations are cringeworthy.

This game is online only. So once the developers decide to switch off the servers, this game will end up in the trash can. Charging $60 for an online only game is a cashgrab. I don't recommend this awful game at all. This game should be a free-to-play game.

(From now on: If a bad review starts with microtransactions, you just read the next one, until they start talking about the game itself)

SO PLZ STOP WITH THAT MICROTRANSACTION BS....!!!

    For the game now:

If u liked wildlands this is a step up, if u think mobs are to easy, play on highest difficulty like me. u still 1shot them, but u also get 1 shotted if they spot u.. Sounds fair to me.
Theyre u bunch of sites where u can find the locations of the guns etc (that u can buy with real money) so if u dont wanne w8 and search for em, go to a site like that and go grab them for free (same with attachment etc)

Graghic wise: AWSOME, got an gtx 2080 and its shines. If u have less, i asume it will still be nice but its not game breaking bad becaus ppls pc cant handle it (yes i did see ppl complain theyre o.O)

Videos ingame, yes can be better considering its 2019 and the game costs 60€ but if everything else is decent or good i dont rly care if that video crap aint working right. Its only for the main quest anyway.

I see alot of reviews ppl talking bout the fact that if you are 100m away and you kill a npc, npcs around them dont rly see you (considering u are only 100m away). ITS A GAME... if u would shoot from 1.5km or more (longest kill was 3.6km) you have the same reaction. but then then ingame map would have to be the world itself. If you use your head for a second you'll start agreeing that games just have to work like that...

My points: 8/10. Its decent maybe not €60 worth but then again was game is? If u liked wildlands and u can play COOP with friends, the game is the best choice for you (and friends)
It has bugs, but considering its just released i dont rly mind that much (they arent game breaking)

Keep in mind: IF U DONT WANNE PAY €60, U CAN TAKE UPLAY+ (€15/month) and try it out. thats what i did. if you dont like it, cancel uplay+ and u lost €15 (better then loosing €60), if u do like it. its almost newyear, so DEALS etc, w8 for one, and use 200ubi points for an extra -20% and u can buy it for €30-€40.. maybe even less

IGNORE THE MICROTRANSACTIONS DEBATE it is old and NOT REAL. The same things that were said for ODYSSEY are being said here. YES developers/studios etc, are allowed to use the same engine the same modeling etc. I do not understand why people criticize Ubisoft for being "generic" HEY BUDDY ITS CALLED BUSINESS IF SOMETHING WORKS WHY CHANGE IT or IF SOMETHING IS NOT BROKEN WHY FIX IT? ENOUGH is ENOUGH. I love Rockstar games and apparently most of you do to. I do not see people complaining about them using the same engine, modelings, etc for GTA and Red dead and the rest of their games. So do us a favor and Shut up! stop trying to find in this era "innovation" when clearly it is not possible. ALL GAMES ARE REPETITIVE ALL GAMES, make you go from point A to point B and do something. ALSO some will make you grind which is ok.

BREAKPOINT: Everything works, except the animations not truly fond of them. They have an issue with the rendering though cutscenes as well. The incorporation of the RPG elements, I personally (WHO HATE RPG's) have found it not that annoying. The AI reacts as expected, there are some "glitchy" dumb moments, but one of the BIGGEST changes which I like from Wildlands (or GTA for example as another shooter) is that when you shoot the enemies do not know your precise location if your weapons are silenced so it is interesting how they react and try to find you and engage against you (Wildlands had the same, but this time around I feel that it is more realistic, as you can see them spreading out trying to find you and guess exactly where you are it is until you shoot them repeated times with the silenced weapon that they all realize where you are precisely). It has been fun to see this develop. I hate games were you shoot from a silenced weapon and enemies magically know where you are and start shooting at your precise location. So this is very nice and improves the tactical feeling. SOUND is amazing, weapons sound great, the effects of explosions as well. Dialogue of NPCs could be largely improved as it becomes repetitive but who cares as all games are the same.
PROGRESSION: Like some other reviewers have said on IGN, just play the game you do not need to spend real money to get higher loot. Just by exploring and engaging enemies you will find what you need. BUGS are present it depends, mine have been funny my friends have suffered some others and they have NOT ruined the experience. Hopefully they will get fixed.

Overall it has been a fantastic experience I like many games specifically shooters and open world games, but I hate RPGs. So if you are like me you will enjoy this game even though the RPG factor is present it is not that annoying. You can still kill humans with 2 shots to the head if they are heavy and with one shot if they are regular Joe's.

This game is fun. Reason for the 8 is because I do not like they incorporated RPG feeling to it should have kept it like Wildlands and because of the Interface which is complicated to understand and not that friendly.

P.S. People hated Wildlands, yet months after people bought the game played it and continue to play it online. I met those people online and we have had lots of fun, it was an underrated game. I feel the same will happen with Breakpoint.

Level gameplay I strongly advise you to play Extreme (co-op only) because Ubi still greatly reduced the difficulty level "Normal and Difficult", and it even happens to spoil the immersion in the fight scene because take 30 balls on a breakpoint and not die but kill an enemy in 1 ball in the head is downright "cheat", if not as much play "The Division".
Ditto for the HUD I recommend removing the red zone announcing the enemies that will naturally force you to remain constantly vigilant.
PS bis: beware of Shootgun short distance !!! It's fatal.

It is therefore noted that in extreme the game is punitive but not frustrating, so for those who think that Ubisoft pushes to bought weapons, vehicle, etc., to successfully progress properly in the game, I think the problem does not really come not the level of the game but beautiful and well of your level of play.
So I can only recommend this game to anyone at least TPS enthusiast in a PVE universe, with a little more PvP.

Beware the game does not deserve purchase only for the aspect of PvP because in this case there are many other games to buy before (why not promo in some time, yes).

I blame mobile for initiating this trend, but as a UX designer, it is so devs can earn more money so they can keep delivering in your face action games like ghost recon.... especially since your pallettes for game design are expanding faster than a cockroach colony in Brooklyn. It is a great game with excelent graphics and gameplay. There is an improvement since Wildlands, the shooting is more realistic and the bullets have a higher speed. Also the interaction of the player with the terrain in activities such as climbing is great.

As such, the sweeping changes made in recent updates are partially lost upon me, but I immediately disabled looter-shooter nonsense like gear score, enabled "darkest night," and tweaked several of the overwhelming number of options available to customize the player experience. The apparently late addition of optional AI teammates in solo play is appreciated, but these generic bots are little more than an extra piece of gear for sync shots and fire support. This sequel to Wildlands feels much more like a sizeable expansion than anything truly new, but in spite of its rampant bugs, hilarious glitches/inconsistencies, and horrendously stupid AI, there is quite a bit of fun to be had--especially in cooperative mode. Most people do not play tactical shooters for their storylines, so the derivative plot(s) in Breakpoint shouldn't be too disappointing. In all fairness, this game's confused mishmash of themes is a huge improvement over the original's cocktail of blind patriotism and cultural appropriation--but don't expect anything memorable or logical.

Gunplay and traversal are a mixed bag, but usually remain solid enough to support most tactics and improvisation with minimal interference.

With gear score off, it is incredibly obvious that this "immersive" mode was tacked-on after release, because the clunky upgrade and crafting mechanics make little sense. Tips and tutorials often refer to elements that are only present in the original mode. Most NPCs and cutscenes also tend to refer to my female Nomad as "he" or "him," so Ubi seems to assume that players will stick closely to the bearded testicle in all of the loading screens. Personally, I simply pretend that my Nomad is gender-fluid and cares even less about these design flubs than myself.

The various islands and provinces of the fictional South Pacific land of Auroa are home to some impressive vistas and biomes. Realistic weather and the time of day are visually dynamic, but have only limited effects on the general flow of the game. The survival elements hyped in the trailers are unfortunately mostly absent outside of dressing wounds and drinking from your canteen to refill a stamina bar. Oh well.

Yes, microtransactions are a thing, but they can be safely ignored as most consist of typical cosmetic options and lazy-gamer shortcuts. Ultimately, Breakpoint can be good fun as a co-op tactical sandbox with a vast multitude of options to live out your spec-ops fantasies--as long as you ignore the persistent technical issues and entirely mediocre design. Definitely worth the $15 that I paid to play it--just keep your expectations low.

This is one of the only negatives I saw in the game. The game has many advantages and I will put some of them below:
    1. You can clear areas of likely enemies and marking enemies. This makes the game much more challenging and interesting as you will have to memorize where your enemies are and never know where they might come from.
    2. You don't have a clear objective and you choose the story path. I've been looking for this for a long time in an open world game that, despite having the missions, you are free to go your way. Whether it's map knowledge, tackling enemies, and setting up a strategy or tactic that will best support your game.
    3. It's not similar to The Division 2 as many say. Much of the mechanics here follow the Wildlands. Here the character speaks. A few things like mounting the gun are alike, though, I found a positive aspect.
    4. The game has a giant live map. You pass areas of the map that are likely to have their actions in the future, and things are working normally. Devices being activated. When you take a map tour looking for fast travel points, it's fun to watch the beautifully designed map.

My score just won't be 10 due to trying to push us a Pay2Win (I hope Ubisoft stops with this soon), but as far as I saw from the game, the game has perfectly met my expectations.

Also kinda disappointed in the amount of weapons, wildlands had an absolute TON of weapons to choose from, though being able to change CQC stlye by choosing normal or Karambits is a nice addition. The flying and driving are just as smooth as in Wildlands, I hope they add the Predator here, though I highly doubt it, they should add some kind of mystical creature in the future. Though the story is quite non-existent to be quite honest, very dull compared to Wildlands and I hate the fact that a lot of gear and what not are locked behind microtransactions, I get it, if I want it I have to pay for it but come on, the game barely has any gear compared to Wildlands as it is.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint offers a vast universe, where the survival aspects have been strengthened from GR Widlands. If the game suffers from a perfectible AI and a clear feeling of "déjà-vu", it doesn’t take anything away from its effectiveness. It works well, especially in coop, while the PVP is viciously nervous. An imperfect title, but with great moments, and a huge potential if handled with care by Ubisoft in the coming months.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint is coincidentally living up to its name, being a failure and potential gravedigger for the famous franchise. Riddled with Pay-to-Win microtransactions tacked on looter shooter gameplay and pretty under average storytelling, even Jon Berenthal wasn’t enough to arise this gameplay up to some decent playable heights.
  3. 70
At its best, Ghost Recon Breakpoint is a taut and tactical shooter that works brilliantly in co-op and is genuinely enjoyable to play but at its heart this is just another sandbox shooter and one that doesn't meet the technical standards we're used to from Ubisoft.
