The part that really let it down for me is how incredibly short the single player game was. I played it twice for a few hours at a time and I was done. That's not a very good return on my investment. If I played online, it might be different, but I have no interest in that, so thus the lukewarm score.

Pilot movement, combined with titans dropping in, makes for a gameplay experience that is hard to match. I haven't had such fun in a long time, and am going out on a limb to say it is the best multiplayer experience I have ever had.

Graphics are decent, and the game runs at a constant, smooth 60fps. So if you are into twitch-shooters, mechs and multiplayer, picking up Titanfall 2 is a no-brainer:)

I would've liked more immersive camera work like in Farcry. The sound, controls, voice acting, shooting mechanics, mech dynamics were all fine and polished. It took me a long time to bring myself to finish it. I just couldn't get into it. idk. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The shaders and graphics of this game remind me of Halo 5. The gun play, however, reminds me of Metal Gear Solid 5. At first, I wanted to say that it has a Call of Duty grade weapon’s system, but that’s not entirely fair. It’s hard to say “it’s like COD” when the game is nothing like COD. The biggest feature of TitanFall 2, that I’ve noticed, is the timed jumping/wall running/using paths less traveled aspect of navigating a mission area. In COD, things are pretty straight forward and you can tell where you need to go next at any given time. TF2 forces you to examine your environment for alternative paths to get where you need to go. And this is due to the areas you are exploring are inhabited by machines instead of humans. But as a “pilot” you have the ability to jump higher, climb sheer walls, and wall run around the inside of missile silos in order to get where you’re going. Which is fun and exciting the first time you play it, but a second play-though is not something I find I will ever do again. But don’t get me wrong, that’s not saying the game is bad. It’s just a lot of headache and complex movements that if done again, would only feel like a time sink, and wouldn’t hold much value. If it wasn’t for that complex movement system, I would have given this game a 9/10.

So back to weapons. The guns are pretty nice. They feel good to shoot. They are accurate and have no glitches or issues that I could see. The only problem that I really found is that sometimes in certain areas, all the enemies have one certain type of weapon. So, if you have your favorite SMG and you enter an area with a lot of shotgunners. You won’t find extra ammo for your SMG. So you have to either give up your SMG for the shotgun, or abandon your secondary weapon. And I always like to have an RPG or something similar when moving through a mission so that I can take out any surprises that may overwhelm me. In short, it presents a challenge and the game forces you to switch out weapons at several spots. This might be due to the fact that I was on a hard difficulty, but I think the same will be true even in the easiest mode.

So the plot is next, and the plot is amazing. The story is great. They did make an attempt at bitter sweetness, but kind of fell short in relation to some other games that have tried this emotional plot line. The death of a machine doesn’t really hold much weight on a human mind. The very ending of the game suggests a TitanFall 3 (but you have to wait until the end of the credits).

Didn't play the first one and i was about to buy battlefield 1 as i've already played the beta until i had seen trailers of titanfall 2 and it was a straight love from first sight. The game mechanics are such a blast, gathered from every fps and action games from teleportation to wall walking, sliding, and grappling mixed with super speedy gameplay full of adrenalin coupled with the invocation of behemoth mechas that give the game another depth to separate it from other "too ordinary" fps games that seem to me super sleepy and slow paced now, using the same shoot duck run hide repeat mechanics. The best fps I've played since cod 4. No multiplayer game has had me this addicted since then. This is the most fun I've had in a game for a long time.

First, they've now added a campaign that the 1st game lacked. The campaign is stellar. It's short, but oh so very sweet. Every level the game will throw a new mechanic at you to help progress through the level, but once that level is gone they throw it away and present you with a new mechanic. This helps to keep the campaign fresh and not feel like you're playing the same levels over and over. Most levels end with some good old fashioned boss fights as well. Who doesn't love some good quality boss fights. Something many current games seem to be lacking.

Next, the multiplayer. Wow! the multiplayer in this game is just so fun. The tight controls and fast hectic gameplay just keep you coming back for more and more. There are 2 very contrasting play styles in this game, the fast paced and very agile pilots who can wall run, and the slow heavy hitting titans. This allows the game to cater for different peoples strengths. If you find one play style hard to play but are very comfortable with the other. there are modes where you only have to play as a pilot or titan. The ability to call down you're titan in matches is not a kill streak reward but a reward that everybody achieves after a set amount of time. meaning even the more struggling players can call down their titan to help them start getting a good run going. playing the objective will help you to get your titan quicker.

Respawn have took an excellent stance in promoting all future dlc to be free. Something more companies need to take note of. They will be releasing new maps periodically but will also be releasing new game modes and have advertised special weekends where they will make fun twists on current game modes.

I can't recommend this game enough. i actually bought a few people this game as a christmas present to help spread the word about how good it is

Titanfall 2 Single Player mode is the story between a Pilot and it’s Titan. The story starts off with a man named Jack Cooper living in the frontier and working in a group called the Militia. The Militia is a group that was form to stop the IMC. The IMC is the former evil group in the series. Jack Cooper was a pilot in training and was teached by Captain Lastimosa and his titan BT-7274. Jack Cooper’s training was cut short because of an attack by the IMC. Jack Cooper went with a group of militia soldiers to go and stop the attack but failed and got surrounded by ground fleets. Captain Lastimosa and his titan BT-7274 comes to the rescue and saves Jack Cooper but Captain Lastimosa dies and his titan is severely injured. Jack Cooper gets all of Captain Lastimosa gear and titan. But when BT-7274 is finally repaired he does not want to go with Jack Cooper. When BT-7274 finally agrees to go with Jack Cooper they go after and try to stop the IMC and their superweapon against the frontier. Play the Game to find out what happens next.

Titanfall 2 is a great game. At a price at $60 it’s definitely worth it. It runs very smooth on a PS4 especially in high graphics. In my opinion Titanfall 2 Story Mode feels classic and great at the sametime. Titanfall 2 has a very cliched story but taken into a whole new different perspective. In the story the bond between the Titan and the Pilot becomes stronger each mission you take. Whether it’s a boss fight or a Elimination. The game’s gameplay makes you feel like you’re inside the game. The graphics in the game looks too good to be true. My full rating on this game is 5 out of 5. I know the game is pretty cliched and everything but it’s more of the feeling of the game to me that gets this rating high.

This is seriously a step up from Front Mission Evolved that tired to do both pilot and mech missions. I haven't enjoyed Mech combat as much as this since the first Lost Planet game. I wasn't super keen on the platforming sections and they didn't integrate into the main game much as in shooting stuff. Though without the platforming sections this would of been Sci-fi CoD with Mechs.

This is a stylish, flashy, cool, game but can't see thyself ever replaying the SP campaign again say like something like DooM 3.

Titanfall 2 takes it one step further with making your Titan a snarky Vulcan. Hello B-rod here and damn I wish I had a giant robot mech suit to follow me around and just be my buddy. I love how Respawn thought and said, “what if we made Call of Duty fast pace like Doom, and had mechs in it as well?” Here we have Titanfall. Thankfully Titanfall 1 didn’t do that well so maybe gaming companies realize customers still like having a single player experience no matter if it is short or long a good portion of people like a story.

Now Titanfall 2 storyline isn’t deep. Honestly if it wasn’t for your Titan being as I put it a snarky Vulcan then the game's dialog wouldn’t even be that interesting. You play as Cooper a grunt who very early on becomes a Titan pilot because these group of mercenaries working for the **** Empire (I forget what they villians are called it is basically Empire and Rebels) killed off your entire unit. The first half of the game you and your Titan are surviving and the second half you are fighting back. The overall plot honestly is like a Star Wars film where the Imperials get this weapon that can destroy planets, and you and the Rebels are going to stop them. Instead of a Vader it’s like if Boba Fett and the other bounty hunters were your main antagonist. Speaking of the mercenaries; while fairly generic they were some of the most interesting characters in the game… then again there weren’t many present honestly. The game is only 5-6 hours long with no real replay value which hurts it a lot for me. The story will be largely forgettable even with a bit of feels towards the end it is nothing to write home about.

What is something to write home about is the gameplay. The game plays well like if Doom, Call of Duty, and Armor Core all had some sick threesome and this would be their unholy offspring. That might paint it in a bad light, but **** this game is fun to play. The game if fast pace, with interesting different weapons. The movement with the jumping from wall to wall adds interesting jumping puzzles and combat. Weapons that make enemies blow up into a paste make me as giddy as a schoolgirl. That’s just the ground combat fighting in a Titan is extremely satisfying and more fun than it has any right to be. The boss fights are all different with adding a different layer of challenge to them. The game is very cinematic fitting to West and Zampella’s style of games they created in the past. All this saves their meh story and makes it a popcorn game if such a thing exist. The game looks good worthy of next gen, but nothing that make my socks leave my feet in a blowing motion. The voice acting is well this game is acted like a B movie except that damn Titan. They give that Titan funny lines, but also the most emotional ones in the game I loved that **** thing.

Overall if you never played the first one or even hated the first Titanfall I would still recommend that you give this a rental. For years people have been asking for more mech games; well now you have it so check it out at the very least. I give this game a solid 3.5/5 it was a fun experience that is well worth getting at a bargain rate. Unless you’re super into the multiplayer there is no real reason to play this game more than once. Until next time folk I’m B-rod and I’m gonna go play more mech Vulcan.

The game has amazing fast paced gameplay with parkour mechanics and freedom of movement. It doesn't force the players to go after killstreak because all Titans have a same timer. If it was a call of duty game, you would need 25 killstreak to call Titan, and Titan would be usable for 30 seconds.

Reading through these reviews, you would believe that Titanfall is the best kept secret of the FPS genre. This game was not good when it first came out, the reason wasn't the game is bad, because origin is a garbage platform that almost no one plays on it. However, now Titanfall 2 is now back on steam, and i can finally enjoy the multiplayer. For the campaign, i will give 9/10, if it can be longer (but the story itself is already really good), The best FPS i have played recent years, Good job.

From the cheesy but brilliantly constructed single player to its vibrant and action packed multiplayer, Titanfall 2 is an amazing step forward from its predecessor, and is one of the better shooters to come out in resent years.

This is a very creative and enjoyable First Person Shooter, the titan fights are the highlight of the game, and the platforming is great.

The story however, is very short and takes a while to pick up, as for the characters, they're okay, I actually didn't really like Cooper as a protagonist, the dialogue options are completely unnecessary and just cringe. There are some difficulty spikes

There are some difficulty spikes but overall the game is balanced, the boss fights are a little bit underwhelming and very repetitive.

Lastly there's a multiplayer mode for those who want to keep playing, and it's a nice addition.

That being said, Titanfall 2 is just... nothing extraordinary in my opinion, it's a solid experience, a fun videogame, but it doesn't do anything different.

    Final Rating: "Good" ~ 7/10.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. For me this game is a solid 7/10. It's a good game but not worthy of a score of at least 8/10, the minimum rating value I consider to be must play. First off this game is pretty much a complication of other games without its own identity. I call this sellout or cliche as I consider myself a hardcore gamer. Let me break it down.....No, EA I don't like mirrors edge and never will so give up your fascination with parkour and stop cramming it. Next, let's have a talk about mechs. Fans of mech games want some but this is a niche gaming area. Fans of Transformers and little kids will love the addition of more mech but within this game he mech controls were pretty boring and watered down. IMO this game sold out imitating Transformers but with lesser gameplay. I found the mech action very mundane and throughout the conversations between mech and player were nothing more than trying to allure you to memories of how fun the Transformers series was and the developers rode that concept hard. Speaking of mech gameplay load outs...too many and with no reward of finding them. They are just right where you need them so why not include them right at the start of the game? On to gunplay, not bad. I didn't mind the responsiveness of the controls and the visuals were fair enough. Enemies AI didn't seem very bright but I honestly didn't test them out on higher difficulty as I just didn't enjoy this game enough to bother. All said this game was ok. It was quick, the game is cheap and it is relatively fun none the less. My wish is game developers stop canabalizing their market by recycling their games and concepts and try for more original games again. A game made for everyone is a game made for no one. And that explains why despite this being a decently liked game it's now $5, I would like to say if you are a casual gamer on a budget this game is a fantastic choice it does have some variety, is inexpensive and no real software bug headaches to work through. Respawn finely tuned every aspect of the game design to exemplify the best aspects the genre has to offer. The single-player campaign is surprisingly good. The main focus is on traversing the well-designed environments to dispatch your enemies as the lone survivor of a mission gone wrong. It gave me some of the same vibes as the Half-Life series, and that's a great thing. The relationship between main character Jack Cooper and his Titan BT is surprisingly heartwarming as well. Multiplayer doesn't disappoint, either. The gunplay is tight, map design is excellent, the weapons all feel satisfying and useful, the different modes are diverse and interesting, and the Titans are easily the best killstreak ever conceived in an FPS. The fluidity of movement works just as wonderfully online as it does in the campaign. Respawn has also delivered support for Titanfall 2 long after launch. At the time of this writing, updates have stopped, but since 2016, Respawn has added in several multiplayer maps, weapons, a new Titan, and an entire co-op survival mode all for free. The only paid DLC is cosmetic and not based on RNG lootboxes. Everything you buy you know in advance what you're getting and this should be applauded. Respawn are one of the last ethical developers to exist and they deserve praise for it. My final score for the game is a 9.5, but I always round up, so it's a 10 from me. My only complaints are that most of the boss battles in the campaign are rather dull and easy and some of the spawns in certain multiplayer modes can be frustrating at times. Other than that, I love everything about this game. The fact that more people didn't buy it is a shame. But, if you're still interested in 2019, Titanfall 2 can be had for dirt cheap and there are still thousands of regular players online, and more have trickled in due to the success of Apex Legends. Do yourself a favor and check this one out. You'll be glad you did! Expand

this is solid shooter. multiplayer is fun and single player fun. i do not get the 10/10 reviews raving about the single player campaign. I agree that single player campaign is better than expected but ultimately it is not earth shattering. You should definitely play single player first to learn about different titan loadouts and how to use them. this will help you to play better in multiplayer.

The campaign, while short is brilliantly well done. As you’d expect from a Respawn Entertainment game the basics are all there. The production values are excellent with good graphics, sound and acting. Moving around the world feels great and the shooting is meaty and satisfying. The story doesn’t have anything you’ve not seen before but it is well-delivered and doesn’t get in the way of the fun.

They also do a great job of switching things up. One minute you’re wall running and shooting at little soldier guys and the next you’re piloting a giant sentient robot storming a base defended by other behemoths. The highlight for me though was the section with the time travel mechanic, that was brilliantly done and I would love to play a game that’s completely focused on that mechanic. If nothing else play the game for that section alone it is truly something wonderfully different.

*I don't care about multiplayer so I can't tell you if that is any good or not.

I was expecting to have campaign similar to Call of Duty, just not long doll story packed with action but I was surprised by its original ideas and kinda slow paced story. Specially level with time changing is awesome and memorable. And in the end game is going to epic mode and you are experiencing really satisfying ending. However, campaign is short and it is not enough to have any emotional connection with characters. Characters do not have time to be fully open their stories.
Multiplayer looks kinda nice. I really like customization and how fluent it is. But like I said I did not spend enough time with that.

I played the MP for a good few hours and felt it was bland, lifeless and dull. The maps were uninspired, the combat weak, the gameplay slow and the titans felt sluggish and useless. The game is littered with bots and it's a rarity you end up fighting other online players. The team should have stuck to modern warfare style games as they produced the best call of duty ever made; MW2.

Its sad that this is a result of some great programmers. I cant see there been another titanfall after this game.

So really theres no point buying into this franchise when there are two far better FPS games out currently.

EDIT: In 2019 I re-purchased the game in a sale after playing the brilliant Apex Legends. I played through the single player campaign and put a good amount of time into the multiplayer (which as still very much alive). And I completely regret my original scoring of 3. The game is far better than I had made out. The campaign was excellent although a little short. The multiplayer was good fun and well balanced. I enjoyed the game and regret not playing it in its prime. So I've changed the score to a 8.

It's weird to think, even more so by playing and finishing it, that this brilliant shooter came out half a decade ago. What made it different probably also helps make it look still new.

Titanfall 2's plot, to be honest, may not have anything special. But it's the rhythm, execution and the always-on-track good writing that makes it interesting and easy to follow and enjoy. The BT-Jack Cooper duo is enough to hold up the plot perfectly; the cast of "villains" works. The writing could have been better, such as clearly explaining how the Fold Weapon works. Also, the "Effect and Cause" level suggests that time travel plays a central role in the plot, but this is not the case; this could have been made clearer.

Apparently Titanfall 2 wouldn't be much very different from its contemporaries: it's a modern FPS with aim down sight, regenerative HPs and it's pretty linear... but the point being that among them, it stands out. It's not Doom (2016) and yet Titanfall 2, at least partially, follows its philosophy: it can be frenetic, fast, "the pilot" (if the player knows how to move) is furious, like sliding while killing enemies which is pretty fun. Verticality is good and double jump is essential in this sense as much as wall-running: a philosophy which reminds "push forward combat", in fact. It is true that not all levels are suitable for this approach, and some require a slower slant. The level design, however, is great and really impressive at times such as the smoothness and seamless time shifting in "Effect and Cause" emblematic level, both combat and platforming, which is really a peak for the genre, an incredible technical and design achievement. Shooting feedback also works pretty well. Piloting the Titan, the "walking tank", the other side of gameplay, is a nice thing. It might look less hectic and more boring but it's what varies the gameplay and makes it more interesting. Titan combat requires a good perception of space and good timing using offensive means to outperform enemy Titans; the spirit of the "fight among titans" is there and radio communications with enemies contribute to a good visual/audio atmosphere. There are several sets of Titan equipment: each different weapon also has a time-based recharging ability or gadget which can be used altogether for advantage and a powerful final attack that recharges when hits are scored. The Titan has no regenerative HPs and needs batteries to recover them, of which there is rarely a shortage. Enemy Titan boss battles happen and are all in all appreciable but one.

And this brings me to some major flaws. First of all, there is a huge baffling leap from penultimate to last skill level: it really seems like skipping 2 skill levels, not just one. Like that, it's probably one of the FPSs in which the player dies quicker among those I played and I played many of them. As such, that little bit of "push forward combat" that distinguished Titanfall 2 is nullified as it becomes a generic move-and-cover Call of Duty-like video game out of necessity. The higher skill level highlights flaws that are already there, even if less perceived otherwise as one soon realises, among other things, that the cloak ability offers no tactical advantage to the point it's useless, as it either lasts too short or recharges too slowly or both. Not to mention the infamous Viper boss fight: skill levels aside, why is the boss battle level so tight (basically a corridor) yet bumpy at the sides that it slows down the already clumsy Titan when manoeuvring? Why are there no effective shelters? Why is Viper simply so advantaged besides being a flying enemy which makes it challenging opponent in the first place? It's a whole game design mess, really, which makes a huge contrast to awesome stuff like "Effect and Cause". And finally, the game is short; too short and should have lasted at least half as long more for an acceptable longevity.

Titanfall 2 is a good-looking video game. I am pleased to see that Valve's Source game engine still looks this good with the necessary updates, although it has been said the engine has been modified to the point it can be considered something in its own right. It's nothing revolutionary (while Source was in 2004) but some scenarios in particular show a high tier quality. Graphics quality doesn't negatively impact game's performance, which maintains a solid frame rate.

Titanfall 2 is great game and one of the best FPSs ever made although it is far from perfect. I don't think it's the evolution of the genre but it is certainly a successful design exercise that left its mark. Highly recommended for people wanting to play something different among modern FPSs.

It made me think of Infinite Warfare but better in some ways. I was really impressed by some mechanics such as the present/future switch on one of the missions. More generally, the movements of both the solider and the titans feel super smooth and neat. I think I’ve rarely seen a FPS with such perfect movement and gun firing mechanics. They feel very fluid and graphically it’s beautiful.

We thus have a very good gameplay that didn’t get boring supported by graphics that are on par. Regarding the multiplayer, all I said applies as well. I think the content is maybe a bit light as opposed to the competition, but it is enjoyable and brings a new dimension thanks to the Titans.

I also want to emphasize on the fact that from what I’ve played, not a single weapon feels useless. I think there is a very good balancing in this game and every weapon has some advantage that the others don’t. This makes the game less repetitive as you’re encline to play all the content. In CoD, it is recurrent to see 5 weapons that almost feel the same.

The same is true for the Titan loadouts. I haven’t played them all in multiplayer, but regarding the campaign, I’ve felt usefulness for each of them.

Great game! Probably one of the best FPS I’ve played in terms of quality. It just needs more content to be perfect.

It's not playable for me. Matchmaking is upwards of 5 minutes, multiplayer disconnects from the server and you really can't do anything of substance.

Campaign was okay... I suppose. Clearly their cash cow is Apex.

This games deserves so much more, the story although short is amazing and emotional. The multiplayer is fast-paced and full of action, customization and free DLCs. I'm finishing this game for the second time, the first one I did in one run because I couldn't stop it.

Titanfall 2 has a groundbreaking campaign that is very well written and has the best leads on a FPS single-player mode this year. It's somewhat brief (6 - 8 hours) but it's incredibly well-paced and doesn't waste the player's time or bore you in any way. You can expect coming back for replays if you enjoy it guaranteed.

The multiplayer is different from the first game but still great.

The multiplayer is different from the first game but still great. It has a lot of changes, though most are of a lateral nature instead of flat-on improvements. Still, it does feel like a sequel and a different game, unlike most modern FPS franchises which can't/won't change. If you're a fan of twitch shooters, this is the best of the best this year and you'll enjoy it immensely, be it alone of with friends.

This is my favorite FPS of the year and, perhaps, my GOTY as well.

It's campaign, though definitely on the short side, showcases some excellent level design. I was happy with the balance of pilot combat sections, platforming, and titan fights. It's a really fun campaign with a number of cool, memorable moments. The time travel level in particular was brilliant, and although part of me wishes the mechanics introduced in that level were kept for the duration of the campaign, reserving them to just the one mission made it a very special one indeed - that level brought the fun factor to a new high. The mechanics are very similar to those from the séance level from Dishonored 2 and they made both gunfights and platforming even more enjoyable. The campaign is brief but action packed and it doesn't have a dull moment.

The actual story is wafer thin though and the writing is quite bland. The plot and characters are uninspired and uninteresting. Your titan companion, BT, is likeable but that's about it. I was expecting a bit more in the narrative department, especially after the introduction of time travel, but unfortunately it ends up having no bearing on the plot at all.

As for the multiplayer side of things, I have to say that it's pace and fluidity is unmatched by most other online FPS games. It's not revolutionary, and really it's mostly standard fare for games of its ilk, but it's undeniably good fun. The ability to call down and control your titan is perhaps the series most unique aspect and it does add more variety to gunfights. There's a decent number of maps and game modes, and you can still easily find a match without an excessive wait. There's some good verticality in the maps which is easily utilised thanks to the pilot's jump kit.

Overall, Titanfall 2 is a good game with a fair amount of content when considering both the campaign and the multiplayer. It's also not too difficult or time consuming to get the platinum trophy for those that are interested in that. I enjoyed my time with the game and I'd still easily recommend the campaign despite the weak story, and the multiplayer is worth a go too.

As someone who doesn't play first-person shooters, Titanfall 2 ticked a lot of boxes for me and I thoroughly enjoyed my playthrough. The unique approach to platforming integrated into the game, the fun story and interesting human-mech interaction made it feel fresh despite aesthetic similarities to other franchises.

Considering the trim nature of FPS campaigns (6 hours in this case), it was pretty compelling to playthrough and dealt with a standard space war with a time-bending twist. Levels directly referencing the more fantastical parts of the plot were excellent and constantly surprised you with how the story merged with the gameplay. The characters are pretty forgettable sci-fi architypes but the real exception is your mech buddy BT-7274. He is charming and funny, and provides true heart to an otherwise cold and unforgiving world. Narrative beats involving the player's relationship to BT were genuinely heartfelt and well-written. The graphics are vibrant and colourful too, and I really loved exploring round both natural and technological environments.

Gameplay is the real focus here and is fast, furious and inventive. Using the player character is like any other FPS (a multitude of futuristic guns, grenades and dodging) with a twist - wall-running. The game has large platforming sections where you need to expertly slide and bounce from wall to wall to make seemingly impossible jumps or scale vertical structures, all the while shooting up enemies. It's exhilarating if slightly clumsy in some sections. The other part of the game sees you jump inside BT and control him. This is where the real fun lies and I loved these sections. Mechs have around 8 loadouts which are tailored to different attack styles and can be switched instantly. These include light attack, heavy rockets, flame attacks, an energy sword, laser guns and more. You fight enemy mechs in brutal bouts which can be a bit frustrating given the mechs lesser degree of maneuverability. And smashing through human enemies is a pleasure. At first, these sections are written well into the story and see you and BT switching between each other for their unique skills. The latter half is more of an all-guns blazing war, which is less satisfying but still fun. The game sort of fizzles out however, with no 'final boss' so to speak of which was disappointing. The campaign is REALLY short and I'd have loved to play for another 10 hours but, hey, this is an FPS. Online multiplayer looks great, but I haven't played it, so can't comment effectively. I imagine using mechs and sliding in rapidfire arenas would be excellent.

Despite some control issues and an standard affair, cut-short plot, Titanfall 2 does enough different to keep it heads and shoulders above its peers. Truly an underrated gem, fans of shooters, sci-fi or even just unique interesting experiences should check this out and fall in love with BT like I did!

This is mostly due to the failure of level and mission design (which carries over between single-player and multi-player modes). And it's too bad because the by-the-numbers story and game design bring down the game's greatest contribution: a truly wonderful movement system that feels downright epic.

I came to TF2 with no time with the original Titanfall on XBox One. I played all the COD games to some extent, and I'd argue Titanfall 2 is closest in "game feel" to a COD entry than any other series. This is to say weapons are hyper-accurate and almost recoil-less. This is not a game where you're expected to ponder your next course of action, rather you can run-and-gun most of the time.

That would be fine on its own, but the game undercuts this constantly. In the campaign, the action constantly stops for traversal puzzles that last too long or dialogue sequences that last WAY too long. This is a game where the campaign would have benefited from cutscenes between more intense action. As it is, you're often stuck in place waiting for dialogue to end so you can get back to the action. Or maybe not, since the action is quite dull due to enemies' boring A.I. In multiplayer, the fun of jumping around and sliding on walls comes to and end when you're shot from one of the many angles you failed to account for because every map is basically a generic arena.

My initial very positive reaction to TF2's multi-player was that it felt like what COD should have matured into. I was very excited to play but unfortunately ran almost immediately into a wall: the progression system is pretty slow. And it's not even tied to microtransactions or anything, it's just slow. There's ways to speed up the process, even outside of skill, by joining networks that grant bonuses. But even so I felt progression took a very long time, though maybe that was just a result of a pretty damn boring weapon set. The weapons do have differences among them, but some of these are negligible and you'll be hard-pressed to name the qualities of a given weapon in a given class that sets it apart.

The Titans, which are undeniably cool, are unfortunately not deeply developed and in some instances seem to actually hold back the gameplay. The level design in this game is mediocre to the point of dooming the experience. Despite the game's plethora of competitive online game modes, the simplistic, symmetrical approach to 90% of the arenas is mind-numbing. Worse still, the developers saw fit to solve the problem of making Titan and pilot gameplay viable at all times by simply making variations of the same map. Furthermore, they weirdly DO NOT take advantage of the pilot's possibilities vertically and there are not maps with any sort of skyway. So most maps are basically scattered buildings with clear paths for the titans to move through and for pilots to try to run through. If you explore, you might be surprised to discover a lot of the maps are actually quite large, but unfortunately the edges of the maps are hardly ever used by players. As I said above, even the single-player is hounded by a lack of imagination in environments. Despite many areas that look nice and seem to be grounded in some aesthetic or backstory, this game's environments generally feel mundane and even annoying to traverse.

The main campaign was notably entertaining and fairly challenging, I played it on hard and while it wasn't the most punishing experience ever, I did see the continue screen quite a few times. While the enemy AI wasn't that great, they were aggressive, and it didn't felt to me that they rely on extremely long HP to increase the difficulty, which I appreciate a lot.

What I wasn't expecting to find on its campaign was interesting lore with colorful and charming characters or at least some of them. In contrast with its universe, the presented story is pretty basic, yet serviceable, what you need to know is that you're a pilot on a mission, which is ok after all is an action-focused game so the story and lore are more like a complement to its gameplay. The main character is more or less in the same knowledge as you, so you'll get some exposition dialogue here and there to give you enough information to move along through the events unfolding.

The main star of this show, however, is the gameplay, mobility on land is standard for an FPS but once you add double jumping, sliding, and wall running to the mix, it adds a lot of energy and dynamism to the combat. Weapon selection is nothing to write home about but the basics are covered, snipers, assault rifles, shotguns, etc. everything is covered so it wouldn’t be a problem for anyone to find the right one. The stages evolve through the chapter and have a lot of diversity, so you will be seeing different types of environments. The rhythm of the campaign is great, and even if it uses the same formula over each chapter: take this item, then kill some enemies, then go to point B and take down the boss, it never felt tiresome or repetitive, since you will be making puzzle solving and fighting titans in the mix you always have a sense of going forward. The cherry on top of the cake might be the boss battles. These fights are basically a showroom of what each Titan is capable of doing and in that regard, the main campaign can be also like a tutorial for the online mode which can be quite fierce, still, single-player mode holds quite good by itself.

It's worth to note that it is a short campaign, it took me around 6 hours to beat it, so if you're looking to play this game for single player, you have to consider this, still, its adventure is for the most well packaged of everything, and it has some replayability in the form of collectibles but nothing special.

Online mode however is where most of your time is going to be. Before entering a match you’ll be selecting your type of pilot and Titan, each with a customizable loadout of skills and weapons. In the beginning, you'll start with a few selections of everything but you can unlock more stuff when leveling up your base level. To unlock things more quickly you can use credits (the in-game's currency), these credits are obtainable by achieving goals in battles like winning, level up a weapon, have a good performance, etc. this is called the merit system and the better you play the more credits you get. You can also level up each weapon and Titans, to unlock better mods and skills. As for the aesthetic customization, I think it was disappointing, each type of pilot and Titan are different from each other but you are stuck with their default designs, you can unlock and purchase color skins, there are a lot of them but frankly they don't look that different, I am all out for aesthetic customization but here I didn't care since the result would not be that different, this didn't affect my gameplay experience of course, as it is a superficial matter, nonetheless as for a game as online-inclined as this, it would benefit with more customization freedom.

Titanfall 2 comes with a wide range of modes, but given the time I played it, each mode seemed almost dead or the queues too long to wait, everything except Attrition. Attrition is the main and seemingly standard online mode on which 6 vs 6 players go into death-match, the purpose of this mode is to gather 650 points before the opposite team to win, it is frenetic, it is fantastic but it is also unforgiven to newcomers.

I wasn’t expecting to enjoy Titanfall 2 this much, I don’t tend to play a lot of FPS or TPSs but it is rare for me to get hooked this much by one of them. If you’re looking for a single-player experience I think this game will cover you up for a few hours but most of them will be good, however, if you’re looking for a deep and lengthy experience you may pass on this one or get it on sale (which I think on the PSN store goes pretty regularly). On the other hand, if you’re looking for a great online multiplayer experience look no further, although its customization is limited or repetitive, you’ll have a blast still. Like a good action movie, Titanfall 2 delivers in what is required and excels at it, its clever mechanics and gameplay fluidity overshadows its shortcomings and makes for a well-wrapped and satisfying experience.

As for the game itself the dev's made some very poor and amateur design mistakes that no big and quality AAA game dev would make. A great example is the part where you have to use the crane to move walls into place that you can wall run across to get to the other side. The problem is that if the walls aren't correctly placed you will die, have to jump back to the first crane, adjust the position of the wall, jump back across, die because the wall placement is off again, die, go back to the first crane, adjust, repeat over and over and over with both cranes until you get it right. Just very amateur poor game design. Another part of the campaign I didn't like is the absence of new game plus, where in other games, if you wanted to replay the campaign all your skill tree perks, weapons and such were carried over into the new game, but not with this game, you have get the new Titans as you progress through the story as if you're playing for the first time. It would have made the re-play of the campaign so much more fun if you had the Legion Titan, which is not only the best Titan but the most fun one to play to be available in chapter 1. Lastly, as expected with average games, the highest difficulty is nothing but cheap deaths. Just lower your health bar and that suffices for a fun hard mode. The sliding and wall running is fun and fast. The levels are fun, they're all different than the previous ones with a few of them changing up how you progress through the level such as time travel which turns the level into a sort of puzzle on how to proceed and avoid dying. The sci-fi aspect of the levels can be really cool at times. The new Titans that you get as you progress are fun, but nothing hugely different or creative.

The multiplayer part is ok, not really all that good. The amount of players who still play is low that all you get is deathmatch on all of two levels, one of which is the same map from the first Titanfall so currently Titanfall 2's multiplayer has only one mode and two maps.

So overall, please don't trust the highly rated reviews, Titanfall 2 is a fun sci-fi shooter that's incredibly average across the board. I'll play Titanfall 3 if it comes out though.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. EA decision to release it between COD and BF1 release date was a big sin for them. They must atone for it. I never feel addictive with FPS games before. Titanfall 2 offered fun, fast, unique gameplay. From singleplayer gameplay standpoint Respawn gave us good story (eventhough without plot twist, but it's okay). Some scene in this story is really intense and dramatic, BT 7274 has great character development better than its main character. 2-4 hours of story maybe short but it's great hours for you to spend in it. Ending is still cliffhanger and maybe we will see Titanfall 3. Let's hope EA doesn't repeat their sin in the future.
Next is multiplayer gameplay, they have variety of multiplayer mode but with most player is artrition and frontier defense. Artrition offers fun gameplay, your team must get score higher than your opponent by killing oppenent's player and NPC. NPC is Respawn's great decision for making this mode more exciting. Frontier defense is like, when you tired of losing or dying in artrition, you can try this mode. Protect thing like tower from wave of enemy like titan, small robot, soldier, etc with your team. Communication is really key in this mode, so make sure to play it with your friend because it will be so diffciult if you play it with stranger in hard mode.

Because EA decision (again i write it) other mode has no active player, so I could not try it. But you can try it with your friend.

Conclusion, I reccomend this game for you. BTW, why I can't rate it 11/10, because this game is really awesome.

Apex Legend.

Nice campaign, great graphics and a super fun multiplayer. If the campaign makes you feel empty in a certain way, the multiplayer completes it.

The best way to describe the gameplay in Titanfall 2 is fluid and precise.

Far from the footnote it could have been, Titanfall 2 is a huge, headline shock. In a standout year for the shooter, this interstellar adventure dares to go big and beyond the familiar. What it finds out on the frontier is worth seeing. [January 2016, p74]

The core Titanfall moveset is a joy, and it has been thoughtfully expanded with a delightful grappling hook. [Jan 2017, p.112]
