May 28, 2020The Wonderful 101 Remastered is a game that definitely has style, personality, and attitude. However, during the process of leaving the WiiU behind, it has lost some of its charm. This is a remastering work that feels right, but it's also awkward sometimes due to how it solves some Wii U's features such as dual-screen mechanics.

May 19, 2020The Wonderful 101 is a genuine treasure, this remaster bringing its quirky action gameplay and effortless charms to more people than ever before. It certainly looks the part, and is an easy buy for PlatinumGames fans, but the awkwardness of bringing the game’s dual-screen UI to single screen systems means the Wii U is still the best place to play.

May 20, 2020If you walked away from The Wonderful 101 early on, like I did back in 2013, Remastered is unlikely to change your opinion of the game’s character-action merits. Newcomers shouldn’t approach The Wonderful 101 Remastered like Platinum’s other games, e.g. Bayonetta or Astral Chain, in which big, easily readable combatants beat up bad guys a few at a time with balletic, combo-chaining grace. It’s more like pitting dueling riots against each other, which offers its own style of fun. The Nintendo Switch’s success has given many overlooked Wii U games a second chance to find a new audience, and The Wonderful 101 Remastered deserves to be experienced by more players.
