Jun 8, 2020The Wonderful 101 isn't just a unique spin on the action genre, it’s a title that oozes with enthusiasm in a way that very few games do, and although the remaster doesn’t do quite enough to alleviate the daunting learning curve, it’s one that action fans have no excuse to skip.

Aug 10, 2020The Wonderful 101: Remastered is indeed wonderful with its action-packed campaign and highly enjoyable gameplay. As if that's not enough, there's an underlying message that I'm sure we could all use right now.

Playstation Official Magazine UKJun 26, 2020Still one of the most unique character action games we’ve played, combined with a heartwarming story and retro-futuristic setting that is just pure feel-good. Simply… wonderful. [Issue#177, p.150]

May 18, 2020The Wonderful 101 Remastered, even though it is a simple port rather than a remaster, and without providing major new features or improvements, neither visually nor playable, it still maintains the essence of the original Wii U game, and that should be a perfect excuse enough to give it a chance or play it back.

May 18, 2020The Wonderful 101: Remastered is an exciting concentration of fun. The wonderful design, the roaring, noisy sound; everything shines and enchants, just like seven years ago. And yet, despite its solid playability and full of concepts, the camera often struggles to follow the action at its best, becoming a real nightmare in the tightest of spaces (always very short, luckily). The game is difficult to tame, and perhaps that sense of continuous unbalance you feel in controlling the heroes is an integral part of the playful framework. However, there remains a pinch of regret in finding that such smudges have not been filed down.
-
May 13, 2020The Wonderful 101 deserves this new Remastered lease on life after the way it was treated on the Wii U.

May 28, 2020The Wonderful 101 Remastered is a game that definitely has style, personality, and attitude. However, during the process of leaving the WiiU behind, it has lost some of its charm. This is a remastering work that feels right, but it's also awkward sometimes due to how it solves some Wii U's features such as dual-screen mechanics.
-
May 19, 2020The Wonderful 101 is a genuine treasure, this remaster bringing its quirky action gameplay and effortless charms to more people than ever before. It certainly looks the part, and is an easy buy for PlatinumGames fans, but the awkwardness of bringing the game’s dual-screen UI to single screen systems means the Wii U is still the best place to play.

Aug 9, 2020I’m sure those who loved The Wonderful 101 the first time around will get a kick out of playing this game again on modern day consoles with nicer visuals. For those that hadn’t experienced it before though, this remaster feels like an artifact from a bygone age that couldn’t adapt to a new set of input’s without the Wii U controller. The combat and concept are still sound 7 years on. Everything else needed to be reworked or tweaked further.

May 20, 2020If you walked away from The Wonderful 101 early on, like I did back in 2013, Remastered is unlikely to change your opinion of the game’s character-action merits. Newcomers shouldn’t approach The Wonderful 101 Remastered like Platinum’s other games, e.g. Bayonetta or Astral Chain, in which big, easily readable combatants beat up bad guys a few at a time with balletic, combo-chaining grace. It’s more like pitting dueling riots against each other, which offers its own style of fun. The Nintendo Switch’s success has given many overlooked Wii U games a second chance to find a new audience, and The Wonderful 101 Remastered deserves to be experienced by more players.
