Complete Edition of best game of this generation and probably the best game to date. Nothing more, nothing less. The Witcher 3 stands in class of its own, far above other AAA titles. I cant praise this game enough - absolutely every aspect of this game is excellent.

And finally the massive expansion Blood and Wine which acts as a perfect epilogue to not only to the Witcher 3, but to the video game series and the novels. With the completion of Blood and Wine, it's both rewarding, and feels like a true completion of the story that everything has been working towards. And also, even on release day of the Complete Edition, CD Project Red released a patch that fixes what glitches remained. As a result, the Complete Edition feels as though it's earned it's title as complete. If you're new to the series/game, this is an edition that will feel as money well spent and your curiosity may lead you to play previous installments and read the novels as it did for me, but also is a story that stands on it's own and feels complete. All the DLC First off, I'm not really a graphics snob and usually don't care much for that as long as the game design is good. However, this game simply blew me away. The level of detail in the world is astounding. I can only imagine how awesome this looks on a fast PC. This is simply the best looking game I've ever seen and I've played a hell of a lot of games. The attention to detail in the world building is top notch as well. I keep noticing little things here and there that just add so much life to the world. It's amazing from a visual standpoint. Like Skyrim times 10.

It wouldn't mean much though if the gameplay wasn't great, but here too the developers knocked it out of the park. It's fluid and fun with a lot of little nuances. Magic and melee and ranged combat all intertwine effortlessy and there are many crafting options to enhance your weapons and abilities. This is an RPG at heart and so you expect to see some kind of upgrade path. It's quite robust and the abilities you can earn are plentiful. I spent many a painstaking moment trying to decide if I want that damage boost or if I should pump up my magic. The possibilities are endless and you can really tailor the character to your prefered style.

Story. Well it's simply the best game storytelling wise I've ever played. Nuff said. I think this game is nearly perfect and you just don't see this type of product any more from a lot of the big name developers. A single player game that is complete and offers 200 hours or more of gameplay, amazing graphics, superb main story and side quests that matter. Polished to a perfect sheen. If you haven't played it, I recommend getting it right away. I don't really like giving out 10/10 perfect scores, but this game is worth it. I hope these developers continue in this fashion and can't wait to see their next game.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt beats it's rivals by managing to put together massive open-word, beautiful and very realistic graphics and just great story-telling both in main and side quests. Yes, in Witcher 3, in comparison to other games, every side quest feel like it's on a whole different level. The characters and their affairs are believable. Variety of quests is something that famous Skyrim lacked, but Witcher 3 delivered.

One thing that makes Witcher special is not just graphics, not just realistic graphics. It's artistic graphics, aesthetics is right on point - what point? It's hitting on medieval, colorful world, but still filled with shades of something evil. Medievalism is expressed by detailed armors, knights, weapons, fortresses, castles, market squares and harbors. But this is just general, it's even more visible when you actually dive in the world of The Witcher 3. There is a whole culture of the famous Witcher saga recreated in the game. From architecture to costumes of common folk and aristocracy, everything is beautifully crafted and highly detailed. To such notion of realism slowly approach the animation. Animation of The Witcher 3 is great, but if we want it to be believable in RPG it must focus on relationships, on humans. If you are starting a quest, there is difference between starting a quest by some random NPC and starting it by NPC which gives you feel of actually being *someone*. This is where face animations gets in. They are perfect in TW3. Even more recent and praised game like Horizon Zero Dawn which is partially inspired by TW3, is not as good. TW3 is a game where you go to realistic ( and artistic ) fancy dress ball where humans actually look like humans and act like them, where setting is almost theatrical in every regard.

While I've never imagined to focus on those aspects, I couldn't resign. Without it The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is not what it is. Game which, at least for me, arouses artistic feelings.

The gameplay - it's innovated, yet some simplifications in order to work on consoles were implemented. The core of it - combat which variety seems to outclass many other games, including previous parts of The Witcher franchise. The combat system is great, much better than other games of this type I played. It is not enough to hack an opponent with a sword, but the signs are also very useful (I use Quen and Igni), I used less of oil, but it has also been useful. Firecrackers, elixirs and crossbows - firecrackers are of course used to destroy monster nests, potions are useful in the fight against stronger opponents, and the crossbow will prove very useful on Skellige and, generally speaking, under water.

So the combat system is something that The Witcher 3 did well.

Combining with exceptional music it's reaching something that I've never dreamed of when I was a child, starting my life's adventure with games.

    Final verdict: 10/10

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

Is this really game of the year 2015? I bought the complete edition to find out. I've never played a Witcher game before this.

    Good:
-Story is good. Although, it basically amounts to a wild goose chase.
-Most of the dialogue is good.
-some dialogue choices actually affect how some missions playout.
    -Good characters.
    -Some great scenes and missions.
-Fighting is fun. Gameplay is more or less Zelda without a shield.
-Good graphics. Although sometimes the textures can look like they're from a ps3.

The game seems really great at first but within a few hours the seams start to tear at the edges --

    Bad:
-My 3 main gripes are: 1) there aren't enough good puzzles. 2) All mission location are laid out in front of you 3) Most enemies can be defeated with attack & dodge.

-There were a few missions, like the garden, where you have to get rid of the werewolf. You had to figure out which channel to open in the waterway and then find a key to open a door later on. I wish there was more of that and be more complicated. Most of the puzzles are too easy to solve.
-Mission objectives are laid out for you on your mini-map. Just follow the yellow dot. How about forcing to user to look for and decipher clues as to certain mission locations. Like a key with a certain symbol. Oh I saw that symbol somewhere else. Maybe the key is for that. You know? Stuff like that.
-Most enemies and bosses can be beaten with simply standard attack & dodge. I barely had to use the oils or Witcher powers. It would've been much better to force the user to use oils and powers more often. -- All these things should be already planned out in the design stage if you're a good designer who objectively knows what should be done to have a good gameplay experience. Actually this game is YET another example of a game that values cut scenes/writing over gameplay. Look the gameplay is good, but it could've been so much better. It's not amazing. It didn't blow my mind. But gameplay is king. Always has been always will be. Gameplay, gameplay gameplay. 1st always.

-Bugs, bugs, bugs... A year and a half later and this game still suffers from ridiculous bugs. I.E.: unacceptable scaling bugs. Rats that kill you in 2 seconds. Are you kidding!? You can turn off enemy scaling temporarily but come on, man.
-Audio normalization or lack thereof. I want to be able to hear the dialogue clearly but I want the sound effects to be lower so that I don't wake the neighbors at night. So I put the effects volume down and turn the volume up on my TV. Still doesn't solve my problem. The volume of character voices outside of one on one conversations is still way higher. Why? And in certain scenes music will be louder than other times. I just want the damn audio normalized. I also encountered a couple of audio bugs where the sound effects stopped playing altogether until I reloaded. This is on 1.31.
-Lack of map markers. Not all markers for shops, etc, are visible on the world map. At a certain point map markers will stop appearing even for things like blacksmith which you've already visited in certain towns. WTF is that?
-Broken economic system. It's WAY too easy to become rich in this game. The economics don't seem to have been scaled properly. All they had to do was put like 50%-75% less loot everywhere. If you loot everything you can, after a while you'll be rich.
-Crafting is not really that necessary. You want to save most of the crafting stuff that doesn't weight anything, but the "other" loot you can pretty much sell all of it and you won't really have any money issues.
-The animations could be better. The gold standard for animations and lip syncing is L.A. Noire. Unfortunately, it may be a long time before we ever see that kind of quality ever again as that was an expensive process. Nonetheless the bar was set and is yet to be matched let alone surpassed.
-Motion blur and camera pan judder hurt my eyes. This drives me nuts. it's not as bad as other games but come on man. Seriously. This absolutely MUST be taken care of. And absolutely no chromatic aberration. That is deadly on my eyes.

The game is actually fun and the story good. Some missions I thought were great in fact. Game of the year? I guess. A sign of the times, though. What incentive is there for Cd Project Red or anyone else to release a more polished game?
