Is this really game of the year 2015? I bought the complete edition to find out. I've never played a Witcher game before this.

    Good:
-Story is good. Although, it basically amounts to a wild goose chase.
-Most of the dialogue is good.
-some dialogue choices actually affect how some missions playout.
    -Good characters.
    -Some great scenes and missions.
-Fighting is fun. Gameplay is more or less Zelda without a shield.
-Good graphics. Although sometimes the textures can look like they're from a ps3.

The game seems really great at first but within a few hours the seams start to tear at the edges --

    Bad:
-My 3 main gripes are: 1) there aren't enough good puzzles. 2) All mission location are laid out in front of you 3) Most enemies can be defeated with attack & dodge.

-There were a few missions, like the garden, where you have to get rid of the werewolf. You had to figure out which channel to open in the waterway and then find a key to open a door later on. I wish there was more of that and be more complicated. Most of the puzzles are too easy to solve.
-Mission objectives are laid out for you on your mini-map. Just follow the yellow dot. How about forcing to user to look for and decipher clues as to certain mission locations. Like a key with a certain symbol. Oh I saw that symbol somewhere else. Maybe the key is for that. You know? Stuff like that.
-Most enemies and bosses can be beaten with simply standard attack & dodge. I barely had to use the oils or Witcher powers. It would've been much better to force the user to use oils and powers more often. -- All these things should be already planned out in the design stage if you're a good designer who objectively knows what should be done to have a good gameplay experience. Actually this game is YET another example of a game that values cut scenes/writing over gameplay. Look the gameplay is good, but it could've been so much better. It's not amazing. It didn't blow my mind. But gameplay is king. Always has been always will be. Gameplay, gameplay gameplay. 1st always.

-Bugs, bugs, bugs... A year and a half later and this game still suffers from ridiculous bugs. I.E.: unacceptable scaling bugs. Rats that kill you in 2 seconds. Are you kidding!? You can turn off enemy scaling temporarily but come on, man.
-Audio normalization or lack thereof. I want to be able to hear the dialogue clearly but I want the sound effects to be lower so that I don't wake the neighbors at night. So I put the effects volume down and turn the volume up on my TV. Still doesn't solve my problem. The volume of character voices outside of one on one conversations is still way higher. Why? And in certain scenes music will be louder than other times. I just want the damn audio normalized. I also encountered a couple of audio bugs where the sound effects stopped playing altogether until I reloaded. This is on 1.31.
-Lack of map markers. Not all markers for shops, etc, are visible on the world map. At a certain point map markers will stop appearing even for things like blacksmith which you've already visited in certain towns. WTF is that?
-Broken economic system. It's WAY too easy to become rich in this game. The economics don't seem to have been scaled properly. All they had to do was put like 50%-75% less loot everywhere. If you loot everything you can, after a while you'll be rich.
-Crafting is not really that necessary. You want to save most of the crafting stuff that doesn't weight anything, but the "other" loot you can pretty much sell all of it and you won't really have any money issues.
-The animations could be better. The gold standard for animations and lip syncing is L.A. Noire. Unfortunately, it may be a long time before we ever see that kind of quality ever again as that was an expensive process. Nonetheless the bar was set and is yet to be matched let alone surpassed.
-Motion blur and camera pan judder hurt my eyes. This drives me nuts. it's not as bad as other games but come on man. Seriously. This absolutely MUST be taken care of. And absolutely no chromatic aberration. That is deadly on my eyes.

The game is actually fun and the story good. Some missions I thought were great in fact. Game of the year? I guess. A sign of the times, though. What incentive is there for Cd Project Red or anyone else to release a more polished game?

This game is one of the best game I've ever played. However, there are some things I absolutely disagree with.
    1. When an enemy is attacking you, you can't do anything: run, heal, or attack
    2. The minimap is absolutely horrible. Sometimes it's impossible seeing which way you're headed, especially with a quest marker right on the north position. I wish it had at least N, E, S, W 3. One

    3. One of my all-time pet peaves is that you cannot tell the level of an enemy. You actually have to get close to the enemy to tell the level which can sometimes be too late. If you're unlucky, it's a high lvl enemy that will 1-hit you. There should be some indicator when you're approaching a high lvl mob. For the undiscovered location markers, they should be color-coded so you won't have to worry about checking it out and get 1-shot.
    4. Unless you actually look on the large map, you can't tell where the end of the world is. There should at least be some kind of indicator when you're getting near the end of the world.

I do like the fact when you go off the end of the world, though, you can fast travel. I'm currently not doing much at the moment except checking out some of the undiscovered spots and some side quests/contracts etc, but so far it's been a pretty good game. So far the story line's been pretty good, and you won't have to spend too much money on weapons. If you know where to look, you can get some amazing gear.

One other thing I love...no shortage of quests. Even if you follow the main story line, you'll always run into side-quests to do.
