I had to stop every two minutes to enjoy the atmosphere. Story seems exciting so far with great new characters and monsters. Scrpt and voice acting are phenomenal as ever. Camera work is more cinematic. If you are a fan of Witcher gear then your mastercrafted items will be getting the Grandmaster upgrade. Brilliant. I don't know how it does it, but the writing in this series somehow bridges the gap in fantasy and real-life and makes me care about the characters. That's hard to do in this day and age.

Seriously, CD Projekt Red could take all the cutscenes from Witcher 3 and turn it into a top-rated TV show. Never have I ever been more immersed and interested in a story in a video game!

My review comes from the perspective of someone who hasn't played the game, but has watched someone play through the whole main story of Blood and Wine. I have little knowledge of Geralt and his past, or of the Witcher universe.

With that in mind, the script writing, character animation, and voice acting are spectacular, and encouraged me to buy the game! Every conversation feels like an actual conversation between people rather than robots.

Each side quest, no matter how insignificant, has layers of depth to it. For example, one quest, called 'Big Game Hunter', has you escorting and protecting a count while he takes pictures of creatures in nature. You learn later that he's doing this because his daughter used to love seeing creatures in nature, but is unable because of an injury.

In something as insignificant as escorting a rich guy around, you get to see the heart and soul of a person. You get to understand the count, his family, and even his bodyguards. In most RPG's, quest-giving NPC's could easily be replaced with notice boards.

In conclusion, the hype is real: The Witcher 3 and all of its DLC is well worth their critical praise. CD Projekt Red has made a piece of video game art, and I am not sure how someone may be able to surpass them in their achievement.

The Blood and Wine expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is amazing. The new world looks so much better than the main world on the ps4, due to what I think was a graphical upgrade. But that was my only gripe with the expansion. Some of my favorite additions were the monsters in Blood and Wine. Every new creature was really friggin awesome, such as the panthers, spriggins, bruxa and kikimoores. (I really hate the kikimoores.) This expansion in many regards is better than the base game, and with the fact that you can start a new game from level 34 just for Blood and Wine, this is a must play even if you haven't finished the main game. If you like real RPG's or even if you're just a casual fan of them, I highly suggest picking up a copy and buy both DLC's. You won't be disappointed and you'll have at least 150 hours of gameplay.

I wouldn't even call it a DLC, because I spent over 50 hours playing through all the content which is massive and more than many regular games can offer for a full price. While Hearts of Stone focused on the main story, but the sauce around it wasn't anything special, this is just the opposite. Blood and Wine still has a good main story, but the main draw of this DLC imo is everything else, beautiful location, exploring, all the side quests and activities you can do, having your own house, legendary new items, new mutation tree, once again amazing soundtrack... after quite a long break since the last time I played TW3 I didn't really want to go back, but this world and characters absorbed me once again and I don't want to leave now, which is the best thing the game can give you. Overall, when I look at retrospectively, The Witcher 3, with all the upgrades and improvements over the last year, plus 2 absolutely amazing DLC's has become one of the best games, not just in the RPG genre, but overall and in time it will be ranked among the legends. 10/10 Expand

Blood and wine is the final expansion and final piece of dlc for the witcher 3 wild hunt, and unlike hearts of stone... this dlc feels like an actual expansion… an extension to the game, not just a new giant quest.
Blood and Wine introduces the area of Toussaint
Toussaint is gorgeous, and full of color…
And there is tons to be done here…
This DLC could be its own game, because not only is there a 10 hour campaign here, there are 20 more hours of side quests, a new Gwent deck to collect, new treasures to find, new areas to liberate, more witcher contracts, as well as diagrams for grand mastered versions of your armor…
This dlc also introduces the ability to dye your armor, and you’re given your own land to harvest crops for alchemy and creating dyes.
There is also a new mutation skill tree which opens up new perks as well as gives you 4 new slots from the perks before, as well as the level cap increased to 100.
And there is plenty to do to chase this level cap as just like the base game, every side mission if fleshed out as well as the main campaign missions...
They’ll have you entering a tournament, only to find out a dark secret, running through the city to retrieve a stolen pair of balls… cleaning up sabotaged vineyards, just to name a few…
And there are of course nests to destroy, caves to explore, and newly added enemy bases to take control of, all featuring a boss fight…
Surprisingly the weakest aspect of this dlc is the campaign itself..
It tells the story of a vampire terrorizing these lands... murdering people…
So you’ve been called by the duchess to hunt this vampire down and kill him…
So this turns into a batman type story..
Which is sort of ironic considering...batman...vampire…
It’s all about solving the mystery, finding out why this vampire is targeting these people…
The strongest point of this dlc is later on in the story when you go into a book of fairytales..
You’ll meet classic characters like the big bad wolf, the munchkins from the wizard of Oz… goldilocks and the 3 bears…
All having a bit of a sick twist to them…
This section alone was worth the journey this expansion will take you on.
While I found the main story of Blood and Wine to be fairly weak, This expansion is crawling with engaging content, mysteries to be solved, and booties to be seen.
I give the Witcher 3: Blood and Wine
    an 8.5/10

Set after the events of the main game, it takes us to a sunny county of Toussaint where people are oblivious to the just concluded war and would rather sing, drink wine and praise chivalric virtues left, right and centre. Not only is the setting different, the features we already know are expanded upon - every point of interest on the map now has some kind of story behind it or a reward to collect about it. Side quests are both plentiful and varied and will deliver numerous hours of laughs, whichery investigations, and gritty fights for survival. There are several new kind of monsters not seen anywhere else and this is what this expansion is all about - Geralt's last, biggest monster hunt.

The main story is superb, and should be played twice for maximum enjoyment. The characters are fantastic both in writing and voice acting, and the beast we are hired to dispose of is a tragic story unto itself. The truth is: words can't really express the magnitude of the experience you are about to have when embarking on this epic journey. Must buy for any fan of the franchise, especially considering the fact that it's likely our last adventure with Geralt of Rivia.

If, however, you don't care about any of the things above (blasphemy for some, I'm sure), and instead want to enjoy a good story while fighting new monsters and doing side quests with non-obvious outcomes, then B&W still has a lot to offer, but to a lesser extent.

The expansion is set in the new land of Toussaint, which looks beautiful and features new enemy types and characters, along with a new main story. Alas, the story is not nearly as personal as the one told in HoS. The new characters, while compelling and well portrayed, are just not very deep (imo). There's a lot of chasing and detective work, similar to main Novigrad quest of W3, which eventually culminates in a boss fight (although there's an option to travel to a very fun special level for a bit which a very welcome change of pace). Overall, the main quest is kind of similar to Carnal Sins quest from W3 Novigrad, albeit with more of a twist. There are many sidequests in B&W, but only a few of them are more than just glorified treasure hunts or monster contracts. Still fun, but not quite as good as, say, Towerful of Mice side quest or Last Wish.

Overall, it's a good nostalgia trip and a lot of content for the money, just don't expect the same kind of focus and story level as HoS.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have no idea why this is rated so low, less than 10 seems extremely picky but below 9 is inconceivable. This expansion is fantastic and it even gives the original game a run for its money. It is without exaggeration that this game could be a legitimate sequel. The fact that CPR released it as an expansion at the price point they did speaks volumes for their character and it's an approach that should be emulated by everyone in the industry. They indirectly expose AAA developers for the jokes that they are.

Blood and Wine has some of the most beautiful landscapes I have ever seen in a video game and Beauclair is absolutely stunning. The climatic contrast of Toussaint to Velen and Skellige really adds a dimension of depth to the world that makes it feel like a real planet. I think the following is common knowledge but to err on the side of caution, I'll tag this review for spoilers. We see the introduction of things that seem like they should have been in the original game, like armor dyes, mutagen conversions, and a Skellige gwent deck. You have a wide variety of new monsters, and the cutscenes and animations are improved upon from the original game. The main story itself is compelling from the very beginning and I must say the nod to Se7en is thoroughly appreciated.

Blood and wine DLC is pretty much it's own game, so much so it's actually release like that and some people consider it that due to the graphical upgrade and the huge new map. The story is once again amazing but probably my least favorite of the three but still very good. Game looks amazing and better than before too. Just get it. It's amazing like everything else in this series.

Blood and Wine is possibly the greatest video game expansion of all time. For $20 (or $25 for the season pass which I recommend), you get close to 40 hours of content. Great gameplay, great story, and an all-around must buy for Witcher fans. My only major complaint is that there are currently lots of bugs. I'd consider this a 10 if they all get patched.

You may not think it is a perfect ten but the few low user review scores this game received are criminal, and quite frankly those people are an embarrassment to the gaming community. One guy wrote it had bad animations! Him saying that completely explains his ignorance in game development. If CDPR used mo-cap for every animation this game wouldn't come out until 2099! Its a MASSIVE game. I'm not saying it's a crime to not like this game. Maybe you aren't an RPG fan, that's cool. Maybe skip this one. But to give the game an outright 0 is childish. CDPR should be an example to how games should be made, and how to treat it's fans. Expand

The quests in Tousant are a bit repetitive with the only purpose of earning money.

The main story splits at a point in two ways to go, one is very interesting and fun to play, but the other is the opposite, boring and not to inspired.

There are also two endings, one of them very well built, the other is a bit ilogic and lacks creativity.
Furthermore, the main end it´s the same despite of the way you chose to complete the game, and it isn´t the great final Geralt deserves, like Hearts of Stones did.

There are also a problem with the vampire enemies, well it is not a problem of the expansion itself, but of the game. Now the diferent tipes of vampires have its own desings, wich in the main game still don´t have.
Wich in my opinion demostrate that the game was launched unfinished.

In spite of all of this bad thing, the expansion still worths its money, its a good new content and very enjoyable.

Seems pretty basic, and believe me it is. The story is as basic as it can get and is a huge downfall after the main story of the game and Hearts of Stone, the first expansion. It doesn't mean that it's bad, it's the exact opposite even if it's below the level of base game and HoS. I had much fun with it and sidequests were on a much larger scale than in Hearts Of Stone, which is a great thing.

So what changed? Not really much, Blood & Wine did add many features like coloring your Witcher gear, rebuilding a vineyard propably inspired by Assassin's Creed and many more, but it didn't really change gameplay or add anything to it.

The expansion has lots of content, I finished everything in about 30 hours and I had a great time like with the base game. In conclusion, great expansion for a cheap price. I would personally give it 9/10.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Mixed feelings with this supposed final telling of Geralt's adventures. I completed the main story feeling unfulfilled. Don't get me wrong, the story telling and voice acting quality did not drop one bit and the ending was amazing (even though I got the worst ending by accident).

It just doesn't feel like the right sending off for our Witcher. Like yay he gets a retirement home and he's content to lay back and grow wine for the rest of his days. I maxed out his house which was pretty easy if you have the gold. They should give the house some meaning like unlimited side missions like they did in Skyrim.

They should of brought the old crew back like after you complete the main story, it'd be good to go horse riding with Triss or Ciri accompanying you on a hunt.

The bugs are back with some Loading screen issues and Roach doing weird things again. These don't bother me as the developers do really well in fixing most of them on future updates.

So its an 8 for me. Great game, but they really should of went hard with Geralt's swansong.

Despite the creepy dark story in the main quest, Toussaint is real colorful and sunny. A welcome alternative to the desolate swamps of Velen. And some of the side quests are hilarious. Nice additions are the new mutation system, in which you can use mutagens and ability points to unlock new skills, and the fact that Geralt gets his own house, which you can upgrade (reminded me of Skyrim). This expansion is just The Witcher 3, but better in everything. Even the locations and the music can be more beautiful than those in the base game. The animations in cutscenes and dialogues were much improved as well, really giving the feeling that CD Projekt Red (RIP) didn't just copy-paste the base game, they improved upon it.

Also, the description says 20 hours of content. Excuse me? It took me about 60 hours to finish the entirety of it, not counting collectibles. If you only follow the main story, sure, but what idiot would do that?

Buy the game of the year edition of this game. If you ever find any game that is at 20 bucks and offers as much content, fun and immersion as this game can- you won't, it's impossible.

This is by far, the best Western RPG that exists. And truth be told, let's call this the best European RPG, because its style is so much different, and better too, than your typical American RPGs.

It's not as powerful as NR since Skellige deck doesn't have any spies in it, but if you manage to collect them all and get heroic cards it'll become a decent deck. You. Yes, you!
The one screaming, "This is a movie, not a game!" and "They downgraded the graphics!" and other slurs I dare not mention.

    Tread lightly.

You are one. We are hundreds, thousands. Millions. You aren't just IN the minority; you ARE the minority.

I don't feel awkward or anxious playing Witcher 3 around others, and your words don't affect me. Many others, however, are coming out of their shells for the first time in their lives. This is the first time many are enjoying the beautiful world that has been created for us - and it IS beautiful. Incredibly so. DON'T ruin this for them.

We Witcher 3 fans may have our differences, but we will not hesitate to come to the aid of our fellow witchers, especially against someone who so virulently slurs that which has brought us all together.
Don't take this the wrong way. I don't hate you. I don't fear you.

    I pity you.

I'm sorry that you feel this way towards us. I'm sorry that Witcher 3 is such a bane to your existence. And I'm sorry that you are missing out on such a wonderful experience. Mostly, though, I'm sorry that you feel the need to go around and publicly chastise and berate others. I'm sorry that, to ensure your own validity, you need to make others feel invalid. I'm sorry that your self-worth is so infinitesimally miniscule that you have to make others feel less-than-human, at least in your own denatured mind, just to feel whole. I am truly sorry that day-in and day-out you have to put up with your worthless, meaningless, Shakespearean tragedy of a life.
I ask you politely to cease your unnecessary cries for attention, and instead invite you to join our ranks. Uninstall Call of Duty, start up Witcher 3, and breathe in the splendour and the amazement of the realistic graphics, and then, maybe, just maybe, you'll see what you've been so hopelessly searching for this whole time.

The Witcher 3's third DLC, Blood and Wine arguably serves up some of the strongest moments in the series. While this is no jab at the base game which is a masterpiece in itself, Blood and Wine provides players with new ways to embrace the world of the Witcher in what is a more light-hearted setting.

After finally beating Dettlaff this game is as amazing as the others! I did find the Dettlaff battle overly difficult to the point of frustrating but in the end the game is amazing.

Just like Hearts of Stone, Blood and Wine highlights the bad and good things about Witcher 3. Graphics are improved. Graphics are improved. Those ugly distance views we got in original Witcher 3 wont be here, as the lands of this new big area is easily the most beautiful in a PS4 game ever released to this date. Story is well written, characters got depth, but the DLC suffer from same problems I found in Wild Hunt and Heart of Stone: the pace is problematic.

The story starts as a typical one about a kingdom that is haunted by a monter (in this case a Vampire), and Geralt must deal with it, but soon you realize the whole thing is more complex that you first thought, then you really start to care about the characters and cant wait to see what happen next. Then, when the plot seems to reach it climax, here we go: you leave a city full of monsters and vampires and go to a dreamland where you fight 5 bosses in a row, with the same not so responsive controls and clunky gameplay that I never learned to love in Wild Hunt. When you left that place where your enemies where the likes of a dead Raponzel, Wicked Witch and Big Bad Wolf, you soon get into the final boss fight, with no time to prepare yourself for that. Most of those boss fights are frustrating due to the bad combat system (for my taste). So, if you are not a big fan of W3 combat, nevermind about Blood and Wine, since here the developers insisted in the Bloodborne/Dark Souls style of boss combat: bosses usually have an attack pattern, that only will let you attack in very sepecific situations, and the final boss got 3 levels. If you are defeated, before you try again you have to face a huge loading screen, and skip a big cutscene and dialogues.

If you think Wild Hunt is the best game ever made, not doubt you will fall in love with Blood and Wine. To other side, if you thought Wild Hunt was indeed a good game, but suffered from bad combat system, inventory and skill tree, then Wild Hunt experience was enough for you. The story pace is way better than the one from Wild Hunt, a game that told us many different stories and tried to connect them all with the game's biggest one - find Ciri and defeat the Wild Hunt - in a very weak way. Wild Hunt was actually a game composed by small stories, that were most of them superbly told, but the way a goal was set front he very first beginning made the whole thing less absorving for me: how can Geralt be there trying to help a bon vivant open a cabareth when Ciri is in huge danger? I thought Geralt priority was to find Ciri, but of course, you must find this person, or do this favor, because someone got a very small clue about Ciri whereabouts. You wont find that kind of thing here, but as I said before, the problem is the pace of the game in the final act of the main quest, that highlights the bad things about W3: bad inventory and infuriating non responsive gameplay.

CDPR deserves credit for putting a DLC with so many things to do, though. Some other devs are asking the same money for DLCs played in small levels and rushed plot (think about Dragon Age Inquisition ones). After I finished Blood and Wine, I'm still convinced W3 is really something for games in general. Even if I'm not a big fan of some of the mechanisms here, its really hard to deny that as whole, Witcher 3 is already a classic.

And this expansion brings more of the pretty visuals. But that is all it is. It felt like work to me every time I logged on to play this game. A game should never feel that way. My scores for the Witcher 3 and expansions reflect purely the presentation. If I was rating just the gameplay it would sit more likely around a 4. Expand

Excellent really good. Invested an extra 20 hours or so in to the game. Odd graphical glitch. But a good main story and side quests plus extra Witcher contracts my favorite. Now all the dlc has been released and has been reviewed I would reccomend the season pass as the heart of stone is also a good quality DLC

For players who just want more Witcher, there’s no doubt that Blood And Wine delivers. It has a whole new land to explore, there are tons of things to do, and there’s enough content to keep someone busy for dozens of hours. On the other hand, it felt to me like the entire Witcher experience had already peaked, so following it up with something that’s just not as good leaves things in an awkward place. The last ten minutes are absolutely worth seeing, but the hours that come before it? Maybe not so much.

Blood and Wine held all the components to make a great final adventure, but failed to truly capitalise on any one of them. If you’re looking for a good final experience to cap off your monster hunting career, go finish Hearts of Stone again – this one’s rather underwhelming.
