The Walking Dead: The Final Season is off to a cracking start, thanks to the dynamic relationship between Clem and AJ and some of the strongest dialogue in the series to date.

The Walking Dead The Final Season Episode 1: Done Running
    Off to a slow start
Done Running is the first episode of this scheduled to be 4 episode long final season of telltales walking dead, and will wrap up clementine’s story…
And it seems as though the telltale style is being completely revamped here…
Everything is over the shoulder more like a 3rd person action game, combat is no longer primarily quick time events... there is a very shallow but still existing combat mechanic, it doesn’t feel the smoothest, but it’s a nice and welcomed change… trophies are also different which is probably the biggest disappointment for me.. There are plenty of miss able and collectable trophies... which just don’t belong in video games with player choice... it ruins it...
but here we are... people cried long enough that that’s hwat they wanted.. And by people I mean trophy channels on YouTube mad that they couldn’t make videos off of telltales games...
This is a decent episode, about 2 and a half hours long, does a lot of setting up the story and the characters, it’s you and aj finding yourself with a group of kids at an abandoned school…
there is a lot of remember when that thing happened moments here and a lot of being introduced to this seasons cast of characters… sadly though not much excitement here.. Things really pick up in the final 10 minutes or so... but up to that point this episode is fairly slow and boring… I was falling asleep trying to get through to the end...
thankfully telltales team does a great job at writing, so I have my feelings for certain characters already so I guess this was necessary, however I feel like this would’ve made for a better episode 2.. I kind of want to be shook and hooked before I get to know a new cast… it would’ve been nice to just get a full am and clam episode first...
theres not much here to get excited for other than the new delivery… the game feeling dragged out could be because of its more 3rd person action adventure feel compared to the adventure game feel of the past..
I’m interested to see where things go
But as of now, nothing has me wondering or caring what happens next...
youre not left with a mystery cliff hanger...
its more of a well... that just happened… and im not really itching for more…
Of course ill play this season through as I love telltales the walking dead and I love clementine, I would’ve just hoped the final season would be nonstop craziness
again things get a little crazy at the end, and I hope the momentum stays going
I give Episode 1 Done Running
    a 6.5/10

Good episode to open the final season to. The first hour is slow paced character building, showing us how much Clementine has matured and howGood episode to open the final season to. The first hour is slow paced character building, showing us how much Clementine has matured and how AJ behaves, while also introducing us to the new characters. The ending had a quite surprising twist. It's also nice that some choices from ALL the other seasons, yes, even season one, actually carry over into this episode.

The gameplay feels better than ever with a telltale game since you have full control of the camera now, being able to walk in any direction, rather than just in a "cone" area. Gameplay also feels more challenging than other seasons.

Only cons i'll give is that some of the prompts didn't show up during combat.

    Good opening episode, 8/10

TFS has a strong start, I'd say the best start of any Walking Dead Game episode (that includes the very first one). The character and worldTFS has a strong start, I'd say the best start of any Walking Dead Game episode (that includes the very first one). The character and world building are on point, while I don't find myself very attached to any characters in this episode besides Clementine and AJ, their backstories and personalities are all very compelling. The world is bleak, and it feels dangerous, the Telltale team has done a great job setting the scene up for some extremely compelling directions. Reminding you that your choices will shape who AJ becomes. The overall feeling is harrowing, which exactly is what the writers intend, and they do a dang good job at it. I feel excited about the future, to what AJ and Clementine will become Full Review »
