Just a word to the wise for those who are on the fence about spending 60$-80$ on a new game like I was.

The story is great, the impact of decisions is refreshing after what games like the recent Fallouts did to this feature. You also have a wide variety of story arches as well as customization stats and items.

The negatives (minor): I personally don't find the lore and setting of this game as interesting as Fallout, the obvious comparison being that Obsidian once made a Fallout game. However, it is refreshing to play in comparison to Fallout as it has not been hashed out half a dozen times like the former. Another thing I wish this had was a quicksave feature like Fallout. Maybe I am missing it? But it goes without saying that this is huge in an RPG style game where you can get massacred around any corner.

Fallout, Firefly, and Futurama all in one great rpg. You get many space western vibes while playing the game, carrying a laser pistol, visiting the saloon, and hanging out in your space ship. Having an amazing time with this game, and getting a New Vegas vibe from the gameplay style, albiet with extremely well refined mechanics. It's a breath of fresh air to have a great new first-person rpg that isn't trying to sell me anything, and that isn't buggy, glitchy, or unfinished and awaiting "patches".

The Outer Worlds is receiving many plaudits from critics and gamers alike but I think it is undeserved. Why do I think that? The Outer Worlds won't win any beauty prizes, being a RPG does not excuse it from looking bad especially as Witcher 3 is a much older game but still looks great for 2019. Movement feels airy and slow (even when running), your interaction with the environment and objects feels detached as there is no animation when you handle or open objects and worst of all you cannot sit on chairs! Even Fallout games had animations for that! Combat doesn't feel like you're hefting a weapon about, it also feels airy with no feeling of weight behind your melee attacks.

The fact The Outer Worlds has no micro-transactions, is a single player game and isn't made by Bethesda seems to have helped it score brownie points with critics and fans alike. But it feels like Fallout 4.5 rather than it's own game, maybe because Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky, the creators of the Fallout series, served as the game's directors. Resulting in The Outer Worlds feeling very familiar to the point of being boring.

Una obra de arte a mi juicio.
Esto deberia haber sido el fallout 76 encuanto a cotas de calidad.
Esto es la continuacion logica encuanto a fallout new vegas. Que junto a fallot 4 y 3 son los mejores.

Basically what I wanted from Mass Effect Andromeda and Fallout 4 brilliantly rolled into one. Where those titles let me down, this game exceeded. Excellent dialog writing, and choices that actually matter. I'm so happy this game turned out what it is.

For people who wanted great dialogues, excellent writing and had nostalgia for black isle/troika/obsidian humour - then it's definitely 10. If you wanted epic and action-rpg, then give it a chance, you should like this game, even if it's not something you've expected. Moreover, let's support single-player games and classic rpgs in this world of multiplayer and lootboxes.

What probably best summarizes The Outer Worlds is that, in spite of my qualms with aspects of it, I still enjoyed my time playing it. It doesn’t overstay its welcome and by the fills a void that feels wider in the wake of many larger western studios losing interest in making dedicated RPG experiences. It’s not the kind of game to stand the test of time and Obsidian has made much better and more interesting games in the past, but there is a pleasant experience to be had. For those looking for that style of single-player RPG will find a lot to like and could do a lot worse.

I can see that while I play, The Outer Worlds is everything needed and expected from a first-person RPG, one that can then be expanded on in the future, with innovative systems, original worlds, and unexpected characters - they now have a hub to fit into. The problem for players is: why play this game instead of waiting for the one that fully escapes the shadow of Fallout?

The Outer Worlds is the Bethesda RPG you always wanted, but it's not made by Bethesda. This is one of the finest RPG experiences that let you take complete control of your storyline, and it's one hell of a ride.
