    Finally played the game since buying it when it was first released. All the negative reviews put me off playing it but once I finally got around to it, I definitely enjoyed the game more than I thought I would. They could’ve done with making the storyline a little longer but all the cutscenes were actually interesting to watch.     Stupidly self indulgent. Not nearly as groundbreaking as they thought it would be. Story is weak, tried and already stale. The gameplay is basic and broken by the fixed aspect ratio. Poorly written in every regard. If I spent more than $10 on this I would be pissed.

    I really wanted to like this game, but unfortunately there are aspect about it that hinder it from being anything more than an OK experience:

    The Good: 1. The setting is a fascinating one that probably isn't explored enough in gaming. 2. Weapon design is very cool. 3. The story start s off well and there is potential for some serious lore and expansion. 4.     4. The graphics are outstanding, for a 2015 game this is seriously impressive.

    The Bad:
    1. Combat is VERY clunky and unrefined, movement speed is too slow and cover system is poor.
    2. Story does not live up to potential, this had the makings of a grand adventure but falls short.
    3. Art direction can make it very hard to see enemies.
    4. Enemy AI is poor, at some stages it's too smart and others its DUMB!

    The Order 1886 is a game that could have been great, however it's faults are to glaring and ruin the experience. Going forward I really hope they invest in the story, develop the combat and fix the AI. The potential for a franchise is there, they really just need to learn from their colleagues at SIE to fulfill the potential    … Expand

    This is an underrated game. It does not give you the perfect third person shooter combat and it gives you a small portion of exploration, which is a shame because the areas, streets and your surroundings look so good. It is one of the best looking games I have played and if you do not mind a very linear approach and a cinematic experience, something like an interactive film, this is a must play.

    Personally, I’d easily score this a 8.5/10. I’d score it higher, if the story was longer. From what I can remember, the game takes approximately four or five hours to complete which is extremely short, in comparison to modern game titles. If the story wasn’t so short, I’d most definitely give this game a 10/10, without a shadow of a doubt.

    It’s cheap enough now so, I’d recommend anyone to buy this game or at least, just play it for a day. You won’t regret it, I’m pretty sure!    … Expand

    Un juego entretenido como shooter, variedad de Armas muy novedosas, ambientación de lo mejor de la época victoriana y una muy buena historia. Lo malo, demasiado corto, demasiados cinemas, demasiados “Quick Time Event”. Buen juego pudo ser mejor. Si es que sale una segunda entrega ojalá no tenga en demasía lo malo descrito.

    Очень красивая и короткая история! Сюжет неплох, было интересно за ним следить, персонажи запоминающиеся, есть пару известных личностей. Круто воссоздана эпоха и очень приятная картинка. Grund hierfür waren sicherlich die eher mäßigen Kritiken, die vor allem die Linearität des Titels, wie auch das sehr eingeschränkte Gameplay bemängelten.Mit The Order 1886 kündigte Sony zum PS4 Launch ein neues Franchise an, dessen Trailer vor allem die Grafikfähigkeiten der neuen Konsolengeneration demonstrierten.     Die ohnehin schon recht kurze Spielzeit von etwa sechs Stunden, besteht so zu einem Drittel nur aus Zwischensequenzen. Das Gameplay beschränkt sich zudem auf eine recht rudimentäre Deckungsshooter Mechanik. Hier und da wird das Ganze von Stealth Passagen aufgelockert, die sich aber teils recht knifflig, fast schon unfair spielen. Inszenierung, Style und Präsentation des Titels gehören hingegen noch heute mit zum Besten, was die PS4 zu bieten hat.

    Wer das Spiel vielleicht nicht unbedingt zum Vollpreis erwirbt, erhält mit The Order 1886 einige Stunden beste Steampunk Unterhaltung mit einer der beeindruckendsten Grafikengines der PS4 Ära. Auch Charaktere, Story und das düstere Setting sind so hervorragend inszeniert, dass einem das Werk des Ready at Dawn Studios durchaus in Erinnerung bleibt. The Order 1886 hätte der Auftakt zu einem großartigen Action Adventure Franchise werden können.     I acquired this a few nights ago from the PS Store for 20 dollars. It is in no way a bad game, but it is in no way a great game either. Even though the visuals are aging, it still looks very nice. The gameplay for the most part is good, although there are some useful mechanics that could be here. Perhaps the ability to throw grenades back at the enemies who cast them towards you would also have been cool. I also hated the times when I was not allowed to sprint. And this thing is more of a nit-pick, but the option to be able to toss a pebble or something towards a wall to lure guards to you would have been nice. With the advanced weaponry you can use in the game, being able to throw a rock at a wall doesn't seem implausible. What is a big problem is not that there are QTEs, but such an over-reliance on them. If there were fewer of them and they were more spread out then I could forgive their inclusion much more. They were just annoying. And I would have really liked to be able to track the collectibles and inspected items that are found along the way. It's very frustrating having to go through chapters after completing the game and inspecting everything in hopes that I haven't just to get the trophies I need. That is especially when you cannot skip a single cutscene even after you beat the game. To be fair though this game seems really easy when it comes to acquiring a platinum trophy, which is what I intend to do. The story in my opinion isn't bad but the longer I played, the less interested I became in it. It tends to drag and being forced to sit through the cutscenes doesn't help with that. And the overall ending of the game was kind of abrupt even though I completed it in two separate playthroughs. The weapons in the game are very fun to use, and the Blacksight ability is helpful when you're in a tight spot. Many people have said that the game could have used a multiplayer mode of some sort. I don't disagree with that, but I think giving the limited presence that the Lycans have in the game, a horde mode would have been a brilliant move. You could play it alone or with another player locally, and maybe up to four people online. Aside from going through the levels to find the things that you missed, there's not a ton of replay value here at all. I wasn't really sure I wanted to play it around the time it originally released, but I think it's worth a go at the price it's at now should you choose to buy it digitally. I prefer to buy physically but I didn't really care to get a hard copy of this. In conclusion, it's not a bad game at all and doesn't deserve the rep it gets. Without giving anything away, the ending does seem to set up a sequel. It'd be nice to get one and if so I personally would like them to pick up the pace a little. Not too much, but so it's not a slog to get through.… Expand

    Great game, and a way ahead of its time. Yep, it's from 2015. Still plays nice in 2020.

Las peleas con bosses simplemente son Quick Time Event, algo que se ha criticado bastante, en especial, el jefe final. It wasted and unique opportunity as the new generation of games was yet to arrive at the new platform, everyone who got a PS4 was eager to try every PlayStation-exclusive AAA game they could get their hands on. That was a once-in-a-lifetime window that ready at dawn could not capitalize.

    At that time, we    It has been 7 years since the Order 1886 was released on the eve of the PS4 Launch. It wasted and unique opportunity as the new generation of games was yet to arrive at the new platform, everyone who got a PS4 was eager to try every PlayStation-exclusive AAA game they could get their hands on. That was a once-in-a-lifetime window that ready at dawn could not capitalize.

    At that time, we were used to PS4 games running at 30FPS, but we were OK to consider it next gen as long as it was in 1080p. But since the devs could not get the game to run stable at 1080/30FPS they had to come up with this crazy [original] idea about those black bars giving the game that "cinematic feel".

    Those black bars were a red flag for me. I was interested in the game concept, but when negative reviews started to arrive, I realized that the black bars were not the only red flag, the shooting and controls were clunky and bad for the majority of gamers, and the combination of up-close camera with black bars made for some difficult to manage 3rd person encounters in which the only thing you see is your characters back.

    In the following 7 years, I've grown fond of PS exclusives and started to give some forgotten games a shot. Been waiting for a next-gen patch for the order 1886 for 2 years now, and it has become evident that Sony has long buried this mistake and wants nothing to do with it. So, I've tried to install a nonofficial patch from illusion that removes the black bars but lowers resolution to 720p (figured that's a nice tradeoff for me) but only works with a 3rd party app that is not supported on PS5. Finally, there was no way to play the game but its original state :/

    While playing The order 1886 I was really surprised with the overall graphics quality, and the storytelling mechanics implemented are awesome! You can tell they took a page from naughty dog in the way they transitioned the lore from cinematic into gameplay and combat dialogue for a remarkable experience. I remember feeling "this game is NOT for everyone" while watching the long cinematics and taking the guided tour through the gothic city corridors. I really enjoyed the way the game takes its time to build the world around you, the characters, and their own arcs, it's all top-tier work. But many gamers might find that approach boring.

    After completing the game, I gave it a 2nd run and felt positive about the experience. That's why I'm giving it an 8. Despite its shortcomings and mistakes, The order 1886 was a great experience and fun game to play.    … Expand

Static objects and characters look marvelous, but man, the mirrors in this game don't reflect anything. At least they should've make the protagonist a vampire in the story, so they can sell this as a feature, but in this way it's disappointing.     I just finished The Order again. Yes it is short, but damn it is still visually so good. I wish there would be PS5 performance patch to play this in even higher resolution and frame rate.

    the first game i played on my Ps4 that i played nearly 4 years ago and the first game that i got a platinum trophy. it always stick to my mind because it got me interested in gaming. not the best game but definitely a great game and pretty much underrated. and at the blew me away with insane graphics and interesting story

    Damn…So, I just finished this game and wow it is pretty cool. The atmosphere and mood was set from the beginning and I enjoyed all the characters all of which were performed brilliantly. The graphics still look great all these years later. I only wish it was just a little bit longer and we got to see another side to some of these characters but the struggle of faith was good enough.     While The Order: 1886 is a graphical masterpiece it has far more in common with titles released by TellTale Games than it does third-person shooters like Gears of War. In it's brisk 5-7 hour run time. Overall can get pretty boring and mechanically is an alright game.

    Gostei do jogo, tem uma boa história, gráficos incríveis, melhor do que muitos jogos atuais, a gameplay é simples, funciona bem, o grande defeito do jogo é a duração, na minha primeira jogada devo ter levado umas 6 horas para terminar, em menos de 12 horas você platina, então é bem curto.

    Tras más de 5 años después de su salida al mercado por fin he podido disfrutar de esta entrega exclusiva de Sony. Después de pensarlo bastante me decidí a jugar este videojuego, The Order: 1886. Lo cierto es que tardé tanto en decidirme a jugarlo debido a la cantidad de críticas negativas. Después de pensarlo bastante me decidí a jugar este videojuego, The Order: 1886. Lo cierto es que tardé tanto en decidirme a jugarlo debido a la cantidad de críticas negativas. Pero sin embargo, mi crítica no va ser negativa, pues tras haberlo jugado pude ver ciertos aspectos positivos y no tantos negativos como la gente ha dicho.
    Por un lado, el apartado gráfico, pese a ser un juego de 2015 sigue luciendo bárbaro. Pero esto es gracias en mi opinión al llamado granulado cinematográfico, el cuál hace brillar más aún sus texturas casi fotorrealistas y modelados muy detallados, tanto del entorno como de los personajes. También ayuda a esto la iluminación tenue y sombría y la paleta de colores, que a veces los grises y marrones predominan en pantalla. Es un juego que supo explotar el "Unreal Engine 4", como también lo hizo por ejemplo el "Batman: Arkham Knight".
    El lado que más me decepcionó y que tiene unión con lo anteriormente dicho, es la cámara, la cuál es cinematográfica, cortada por arriba y por abajo, lo cuál reduce el campo de visión y dificultará la visión en pantallas pequeñas.
    Un punto que si me gustó, aunque era un poco exagerado, es la cercanía de la cámara con el personaje, un recurso para hacer brillar el intrincado y detallado traje del protagonista.
    Por otro lado tenemos la trama, la cuál tiene luces y sombras. Parece que es simplemente un juego en el que tenemos que acabar con unas bestias, llamadas "híbridos", pero la trama es más que eso, es bastante compleja y rebuscada. Comienza de forma muy impactante pero a medida que transcurre la historia (pese a ser bastante corta), pierde intensidad en mi opinión. Aún así, algo maravilloso que supieron realizar, es la banda sonora, los doblajes, la caracterización de personajes y actuación (tanto corporal como facial) y por supuesto la ambientación.
    La historia transcurre en la Londres de 1886, en plena época Victoriana e Industrial, pero el estilo "Steampunk" está presente casi en todo momento, especialmente en el arsenal, pues contamos con armas muy avanzadas para la época en la cuál transcurre la historia y sus detallados y realistas entornos llenan de autenticidad el juego.
    El punto más negativo y que resta valor a esta entrega es la cantidad excesiva de cinemáticas que hay. Y es excesiva pues la historia se puede jugar en menos de 10 horas a un ritmo normal. Es cierto que las cinemáticas son un recurso valioso para demostrar poder técnico y narrar la historia con más agudeza pero en este caso la cantidad es excesiva.
    En conclusión, es un videojuego notable pero sin duda uno que se olvidará dentro de Sony. Es una demostración de poder que tiene o que tuvo el motor gráfico de la cuarta generación pero también un juego interesante en cuanto a ambientación se refiere y que cuenta con una historia más intrincada e interesante de lo que uno se cree. Solo la gente que lo juegue hasta el final podrá decir si mis palabras son ciertas o no.    … Expand

    The Order 1886, is simply the most beautiful and cinematic game i've ever seen with the most engaging story that shows not only the progress of the protagonist but also shows how conservative The Order can be with certain arguments and/or situations providing the player the feeling of betrayal and corruption within your own friends and brothers

    Zur Story:
    Man spielt in einem alternativen viktorianischen London. Unter den Menschen gibt es Fabelwesen (eine Geschichte die gerade den Verschwörungstheoretikern gut gefallen könnte :) ) und es gibt einen Ritter Orden, der geschworen hat eben diese Fabelwesen zu vernichten, ihr spielt einen dieser Ritter und werdet während des Spiels auf eine Verschwörung des Königshaus aufmerksam. Mehr möchte ich zu dem Spiel gar nicht verraten, weil diese Spiel eben durch seine Geschichte punktet.

    Schade das das Spiel so schlechte publicity bekommen hat und auch schade, das dass Studio von Facebook aufgekauft wurde, denn so werden wir leider nie einen 2. Teil dieses guten Spiels sehen.

    this is a very easy game to 100% one of the few ps4 games ive had the pleasure of 100% the most troubling thing was that after i beat the game i had to watch a video on where some of the    the story was cool and the gameplay was fun and it looks fantastic and runs amazing as well but its very linear and there isnt enough content to warrant replaying after beating the game the first time

It’s still a great game though, and totally worth your time. It’s truly a shame that it doesn’t look like we’ll ever see a sequel for it, since it was the first real “wow factor” game for the PS4.… Expand

    Didn't catch up on the game until 2021. The setting sounded interesting and the graphics weren't bad despite the age. The gameplay takes getting used to. It has few highlights. It's more like a movie where you have some choices. For €5 that was a well invested hour. At that time for a full-price title of 60€, of course that puts everything into perspective. So I can understand why some reviews are so bad.

    Overall 7 out of 10 points.

    It entertained me, and at times the game was actually really good. With probably more time and budget the game could have been made really well. So it is a stable investment for little money. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else.    … Expand

    Wildly underrated. It’s well worth it’s current price, and if you’re going expected a game with a heavy narrative focus, there’s so much here. It’s utterly gorgeous, gameplay is tight, dialogue well written, plot engaging, likeable characters. It deserve a second chance.

    Top-notch graphics and nothing else. That is what you should expect from this hiper linear, boring and full of rigid mechanics game. The stealth mechanics are nonsense and the Quick Time Events don't feel natural. If the atory was engaging at least, maybe it could make up for the dull gameplay, but it's not. It's also too short, but you might even be glad of that.

    Finally knocked this off the backlog. Playing it now, years removed from the hype/backlash around its launch, I had a good time with it. It is short and ends abruptly, but what's here is good. If they made sequels I would play them.

    Un jeu exceptionnel, je viens de le faire en 2023(hé oui il était temps)

    Une très grosse narration, avec une histoire que l'on a envie de suivre de bout en bout.

    Un univers intriguant, je ne comprends vraiment pas les mauvaises notes sur ce jeu.

    Son côté jeu-film a dû déplaire a certains visiblement, il faut être assez mature pour le comprendre.

It’s extremely moody with thick fog and a melancholic undertone.     I like the game, the visuals are amazing but, the firsts chapters are too much cinematic and gameplay is poor, the best of the game comes until the final chapters when action take importance. I hope this game will have a sequel because the story have potential.

    What a phenomenal game! Top notch graphics, shooting, weapon variety, writing, story, characters, pacing, and vision! I'm only going to dock it one point for being too short. 3-4 more hours would have made the experience perfect. It's easy to see the Naughty Dog influence in this body of work, and sadly most people will never experience it. Because, you know, critics. We need a sequel!

    So glad I ignored the negative reviews on this one. A stunning bit of work. Amazing graphics, the transitions from game-play to cut scenes and back were great. Great story, and equally great character acting. I can see why it could be a divisive game, it was heavily cut scene and qte over game-play, but I went in viewing it as an interactive movie/tv show and was not disappointed.

    Although the storyline invokes weighty subjects like colonialization and socioeconomic inequality, it fails to address these topics in any substantive way. Ditto the game’s dialogue, which contains flourishes of eloquence that founder because, as pleasing as the words are to the ear, the actions they affect have no bite.
