Apr 21, 2014It’s certainly not as ‘awesome’ as its movie counterpart but there’s some genuine fun to be had with this.
-
Apr 13, 2014Aside from a few fun mechanics introduced by this chapter, there is nothing new here to leave you speechless. At the same time, the perpetual smiles on our faces that this title left us, compels us to recognize its merits.
-
Mar 17, 2014Hardly strays from the established formula, but that's not entirely a bad thing. Any single game that allows you to play as both Batman and Gandalf has to be doing something right.
-
Mar 6, 2014While it lacks the endearing appeal of some of its older siblings, The LEGO Movie Videogame is still a strong cinematic tie-in that serves as a perfect accompaniment to the big screen blockbuster – even if you should ensure that you visit the theatre first.
-
Mar 3, 2014Everything isn’t always awesome, but in small doses it can be.
-
Feb 18, 2014There hasn't been a lot of tweaks to the overall LEGO game formula, but The LEGO Movie Videogame manages to feel fresh and exciting to play. Levels are shorter, there are less collectibles, and the experience feels much more focused than in previous games. It is a great argument for the less is more approach to game design.
-
Feb 17, 2014A mostly linear experience, shuttling the player from scene to scene, with the slightly more open hub worlds being there for random LEGO stud hunts and little else.
-
Feb 16, 2014It goes completely against the spirit of the movie but at least the game is able to celebrate the creativity of its developers, if not its players.
-
Feb 11, 2014Visually, The Lego Movie Video Game on PS4 looks about the same as Lego Marvel Superheroes did on the Wii U, which is a shame since the movie added scratches to textures and variable stop-motion framerate and lighting effects that could have been exploited with the next-gen hardware.
-
Feb 7, 2014While it doesn’t measure up to Traveller’s Tales masterpiece, last year’s Lego City Undercover for the Wii U, and it doesn’t live up to its theme song – where “everything is awesome” – it is indeed a colourful and fun puzzler that’s sure to please fans. But you’ll probably want to see the movie first.
-
Mar 9, 2014A decent game with some nice moments, but it lacks the usual magic touch of the other Lego Games.
-
Games Master UKApr 7, 2014A number of the scenes lack any real zest. [May 2014, p.78]
-
Playstation Official Magazine AustraliaApr 27, 2014Shorter than your average LEGO adventure, doesn't build upon the formula in meaningful ways. [May 2014, p81]
-
Mar 25, 2014This isn't the best LEGO game to get. It really focuses on kids and therefore it's too simple for us adults.
-
Feb 12, 2014The LEGO Movie Videogame extends a concise and hilarious film into a much longer and less consistent interactive experience that sometimes dips into boring territory.
-
Apr 18, 2014It's clearly visible that authors of The LEGO Movie Videogame rushed its development to release it simultaneously with the movie. Therefore it lacks quality of the other LEGO games. Nonetheless, it serves fine as the movie's appendix.
-
Playstation Official Magazine UKApr 15, 2014Despite the familiarity of its mechanics, it's definitely way more fun than stepping on one of the damn bricks. [Apr 2014, p.87]
-
Apr 11, 2014It’s not the best LEGO game that you can find neither the most original, but if you want to “see” the movie in a different format you’ll not be disappointed.
-
games(TM)Apr 9, 2014Underbaked. [Issue#146, p.114]
-
Mar 6, 2014The LEGO Movie Videogame recaptures much of the charm and playability of its forebears by rehashing their hallmarks, but doesn't quite have the same appeal.
-
Feb 19, 2014There's nothing wrong with The Lego Movie Videogame, but it just doesn't have the same appeal as other entries in the series.
