I don't care what anyone else says, The Lego Movie 2 Videogame is a ton of fun. With a spot-on blend of familiar Lego gameplay, open-world environments, and an assortment of awesome gadgets; what's not to love?

Like the film it's based on, The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame changes things up from the usual formula without harming the overall product at the end.

Finally bringing something new to the LEGO “Franchise” titles, this might scratch that itch that previous games have been missing, with a lot fewer bugs to boot. It doesn’t spell out what happens in the movie, but the ending is certainly a spoiler - just so you’re forewarned.

The interesting sandbox gameplay mechanics, very close to what LEGO Worlds game did years before, refreshes the over-used LEGO formula.

A cracking collectathon for master and aspiring builders alike. Simplistic mechanics make for a relaxing, though no less engaging, experience with plenty to see and do. [Issue#161, p.82]

The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame opts for a simplification of each and everyone of the elements that define the basic formula of the franchise. All with the aim of becoming a more accessible experience for all audiences. Something that is the greatest virtue and at the same time the biggest defect of the game.

LEGO Movie 2 proves itself being one of the easiest games of the franchise and comes with some graphic issues. Very recommended for children, they'll love it. But for the rest, 'everything is (not) awesome'.

Most of what I have had to say about TLM2V has not been awesome as Emmett would say, but for the most part I still enjoyed my time with the game, especially when playing co-op. Keeping in mind the target audience and the price point of $40, the Lego Movie 2 Videogame presents a game worth considering for fans of the movie, Lego, or casual, family-friendly play.

All things said and done, this is a good game. It’s not the Lego Movie 2 game I was really wanting but it was fun nonetheless. It does have issues but there is nothing here that players, especially younger ones, are really going to have a problem with. Worth a shot.

Lego Movie 2 The Game is a fun game for the younger audience, but if you are a bit older, you will find it slow and repetitive. When you add the fact that it looks exactly like Lego Worlds, with extra characters, the game is not worth the money, and also the time.

We expected a great sequel but unfortunately we walked away somewhat disappointed. The boss fights, the characters and the core gameplay are as solid as you've come to expect from a Lego game but the omnipresent and timeless Lego humor is missing this time around which makes this game lose a large part of its soul. Load times are long and the explorable worlds are bland. A missed opportunity.

There's nothing you've not seen before in The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame -- unless you haven't seen the film yet. This is largely a by-the-numbers LEGO platformer with a variety of open levels in which to find collectibles and solve simple puzzles. The low difficulty makes this perfect for children to play with friends or family, and the sandbox area will let you get a little creative too. It's a safe entry in the series that fans will enjoy, but if you're getting tired of the same old formula, there's not much new to see here.

The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame is clearly inspired by LEGO Worlds. It’s easy to play and with a good amount of content, but it lacks variety and it’s way too easy.

Thanks to some great puzzles and the mix of LEGO and DUPLO you would think that everything is awesome. Unfortunately it is not due to the lack of dynamic splitscreen, typical bugs and some dull worlds. It's more like everything is just okay.
  15. The Lego Movie 2 Videogame unfortunately have no new gameplay mechanics also characters and story telling so bad.

Designed for players who love the LEGO universe, this new entry to the franchise feels tailor-made for a young audience. For more hardcore gamers, it looks repetitive, lacks of originality and doesn't even follow the movie in terms of story telling.

The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame doesn't have the appeal of the classic LEGO videogames. It looks like a LEGO World reskin, without the movie’s humour and pace. And with a broken co-op.

A new twist on the old formula, The LEGO Movie 2: The Video Game offers up some new mechanics and gameplay but fails at delivering an experience that is either memorable or fun.

The LEGO Movie 2 tries to mix things up a bit by using ideas from LEGO Worlds but is dragged down by its repetitive gameplay loop and its technical issues. Only young kids who enjoyed the movie might get something out of this game unfortunately.

Everything is not awesome. Everything is not even okay. Everything is just meh. Tt games haw finally done what a very vocal part of their audience wanted. They changed things. Drastically. And in doing so, they've taken such a huge step backward that this feels more LEPIN than LEGO. A heavily flawed shell of what the franchise had become.

A throwback to the bad old days of movie tie-ins, this uninspired and dull reskin of LEGO Worlds takes all the good parts of the LEGO games and tosses them in the bin. This is the game that President Business would have designed, full of static environments and boring construction. Everything is far from awesome with The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame.

A cheap and nasty film tie-in that reaches a new low for Lego games and stands in stark contrast to the creativity of the movie and the toys.

This just feels like a frustrating cash grab. I take no joy in being so harsh on this game, as I’m sure many of the people who worked on it did their best in what clearly little time they were given – and hey, game development is hard – but they, and LEGO’s target audience, deserve better than this. If you’re looking for a better LEGO game to get into, check out the recent DC Super-Villains, or the re-release of the Harry Potter games.

I know it was a budget title going by the price of the game but the game feels phoned in as if the developers used the "open" aspect of the game to pad out the lack of content. Also for 2019 the game looks quite a few years old and doesn't feel polished but really janky.

I thought the story would be fun but they told it in a really lazy way and it wasn't as fun or funny as the movie (also they missed a big chunk of the end of the movie??). Overall I was very, very disappointed.
