Sep 6, 2019It was and still is an absolute must-play for any JRPG fan, and a master class in slow-burn world-building that should be mandatory gaming, and if a modern-hardware remaster puts it into the hands of even more gamers, I can’t help but be all for it. If the original release was already a modern classic, then this improved version is nothing short of a masterpiece.

Apr 2, 2019The system feels a bit like a Final Fantasy game, with the battle menu on the screen instead of off to the side.
-
Mar 26, 2019It’s a story that isn’t afraid to take its time and let things play out slowly, and even though the pacing can be rough at times, it’s a refreshing thing to see in video games, which are usually so focused on keeping the action and pace at 100 percent. The quality-of-life improvements to the game, like Turbo Mode, help make it that much more digestible.

Mar 26, 2019Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel is a sprawling epic of a game. With satisfying combat, incredibly well defined characters, and enough story to satisfy the most demanding visual novel fan, Trails of Cold Steel has earned its place in the JRPG Hall of Fame. It’s time to call it like it is: Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel is a classic.

Mar 26, 2019The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel on PS4 is everything I wanted in a remaster of one of my favourite RPGs this decade and more.
-
Mar 26, 2019In the end, I can’t give enough praise to Trails of Cold Steel. It is an excellent port of an excellent game that finally arrives to a modern console. If for some reason you don’t have a PC that can run it, then this is the version to play. It’s extremely easy to recommend this game to anyone, whether they play RPGs or not, and it is also a good first step into the Trails series, which is well worth your time.
-
Mar 26, 2019Trails of Cold Steel gears up as the story progresses and ends up in such a cliffhanger that you just want the next part out already. The game remains as strong as it has been and comes strongly recommended for any JRPG enthusiast looking for a cracking yarn to spend time with.

Apr 18, 2019Although there is a certain shortage of new content, the PS4 version of The Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel is the best of the bunch, and, since the game was very good to begin with, this one comes, unsurprisingly, as recommended.

May 15, 2019Slighty enhanced PS4 premiere of the epic rpg saga with a slight touch of Persona.

May 1, 2019The legend of heroes: trails of cold steel is a Japanese role video-game with a really complete story, a deep combat system and an everlasting soundtrack. It’s a perfect opportunity to get into the Nioh Falcom universe but if it’s your first time it can be confusing because of its difficult items. This is the best version to enjoy this experience in 60 fps with 4K resolution and all the additional DLC lately released like the Japanese dubbing.
-
Mar 27, 2019If you haven’t played The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel before, I wholeheartedly recommend playing the new PlayStation 4 version. It’s the most complete edition after all, even if that doesn’t mean much in terms of additional content volume.

Mar 26, 2019Trails of Cold Steel's perfected combat system and challenging battles combined with a nuanced story that is addictive and charming make for a JRPG worth picking up, even if you've already played it prior.
-
Mar 26, 2019If you're a fan of Japanese RPGs and you missed out on Trails of Cold Steel the first time around, we can't recommend this PS4 port enough. Between its brilliant world building and fantastic cast of characters, this is a slow-burning story that refuses to let you go. While the game does plod at points, it's hard not to sit back and appreciate just how much effort has gone into making this world feel so rich and interesting. Add a rock solid turn based combat system to the mix, and you've got all the makings of a genre classic.
-
Mar 28, 2019An ashamedly old school role-player that nevertheless does its best to attract new players and entertain existing fans.
-
Mar 27, 2019Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel is a major undertaking, one that demands much, and rewards much more. Your enjoyment of Cold Steel hinges heavily on your attitude towards anime storytelling tropes. For me, they turn bitter in large doses. I need a lot of play to break up these dramatic encounters. On the other hand, the mechanical elements are a sumptuous feast. There’s just so much to do at any given moment. Better still, these systems are handed to you at a steady pace, one that allows you to take in so much more than you could otherwise. This game is a lot to take in, but rest assured that Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel is worth your time.
-
May 10, 2019Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel lacks vibrancy, the animations lack imagination, and the characters are a bunch of bores. Not having played any other games in the series, I can’t say whether this series is suffering from sequelitis exhaustion, but this installment just lacks so much. It’s an excruciating play that I cannot recommend.
