    Beautiful game, i honestly think Metacritic should remove the zero reviews that are obviously from people who saw the leak and haven’t played the full game. I’m a few hours in and I’ve enjoyed myself so far and I’m happy to see flash backs of how Ellie and Joel have been doing for 4 years.

The amount of 10's from the media this game received is a testament to the disconnect between journalists and the general public. Metacritic will probably scrape all 0's so I recommend you give it at least a 1/10. It is so sad that this game will probably end up winning GOTY.… Expand

    This game is an insult to the last of us fan-base and naughty dog & Neil Druckman have screwed big time here.
    The game features stunning graphics and animations, interesting level design but it doesn't deliver in other aspects; plot hole filled story, gameplay gets repetitive and redundant, unlikable characters, the game was falsely advertised

    Best game I've ever played. Revolutionary animation system, beautiful graphics and an emotional story. Every aspect of this game is perfectly crafted with passion. Great job ND! Too bad some people will never understand the beauty of this game, it's their loss though

But that is in no way enough to elevate the game to a level which makes the gameplay decent (the jump action is incredibly buggy) or the script something someone who enjoys games is able to tolerate. I can't understand the crude characters, where no one is even likable, and where certain actions contradict what we knew about the established characters. A very explicit adult scene is something I can't understand how Sony allowed in the first place. This game didn't need to exist and it's fair to compare it to lower quality works such as The Last Jedi and season 8 of Game of Thrones. What a missed opportunity, by what was once a beloved game studio, Naughty Dog, to create something Sony's consumers would be willing to elevate above all other games of this generation.     All those bad reviews are mainly from un-open minded dudes disappointed by leaks they don't even understand.
    You can go and try this must-play without any doubt you'll love it.

    This game is a slow-moving car crash. WOW! How can such a reputable company miss the mark so poorly and completely dump on Joel/Ellie? If you loved what the first game represented, there's a huge chance you'll despise this game. Naughty Dog takes the things you loved about this game and just destroys the bonds between the two main characters to push a SJW agenda.

    I can't believe the writing and motivation are so weak. WHYYYYYYYYY!!!! This is so bad I can't even begin to share my disgust. I have deleted the game and I will be looking for a refund or a credit.

    Gotta say, i'm dissapointed. Just got 10 hours into the game, and i just can't continue. The story is horribly, character are just thrown out of the window and the game play is still bland and repetitive. This just doesn't feel as a good sequel, more like The Last of Us 0.

My main gripe is with the characters, decision making, and general story choice. New characters aren't relatable and some flat out replace old ones (You really think I'd let you go alone?).     It just sucks, story is terrible, graphics are pretty good, but the gameplay is boring. I found myself almost falling asleep at points during the game. This feels like someone’s fan fiction of what a sequel might have been. Naughty Dog dropped the ball with this one.

    It's a great game. I can't believe a lot of people say it's a disgrace and so on. This game was developed for many years, titanic work was done, how many nerves were spent, how much money. Developers put their soul into this project. These games come out once five years and to see that attitude is sad, I'm disappointed in people. The game is worth every coin, and to say that no, ridiculous.

    Naughty Dog again delivers an unbelievable Masterpiece propably the best game ever made. Fantastic Gameplay , Leveldesin and the best most ambitous story ever told in this medium. This Game will go down in history as the masterpiece that defined an entire generation. It has the best graphics seen today. its mindblowing this looks like the first midgen ps5 game.

Why would there be THIS many people upset over the game? The recent Final Fantasy 7 Remake quite literally split the fanbase in two, but look at the userscore...

    The writing in this game feels like a fan fic written by a secret third party, who knows nothing about writing for video games, let alone The Last Of Us, but was given a platform to push their agenda. The choices made by established characters completely goes against everything we know about them and what they've said or done before.

    Gameplay takes a backseat to all the agenda, especially when they have to get such Schindler's List-tier masterpiece lines like "bigot sandwich" across. Also thought it was a terrible design choice to have a guitar strumming minigame, to thematically tie with the world and characters, but no golf minigame.

    Oh, and what even happened with the whole infection/Ellie being immune? This is so obviously only written for one purpose: agenda.    … Expand

    At the start, it tries to anger the player by using a beloved character like Joel as the catalyst that should anger you enough and put you in the mindset of seeking revenge. It's the reason his death is so demeaning and horrible, otherwise if he had a heroic end you'd feel sad but not really pissed off and I get that. The real problem is what comes after and how it's handled. Instead of the game taking you through a trip of violence and allow you to make hard choices at the end of grizzly violent encounters that has a chance to shift your ''revenge at all costs mindset'', it takes a rigid linear approach. It doesn't provide opportunities to the player to test and see if your mindset shifts. For example this is something the Witcher 3 did so excellently where despite what you thought was the right course and good intention, you ended up with a less clear cut result making you question your choices. Instead of short, violent and shocking encounters that have deep impact (because the game is so over-bloated), that violence loses it's shock value and becomes casual which works against what they're trying to achieve. Even when they're trying to 'humanise' Ellie's adversaries, it's done in a wrong way that feels contrived rather than letting you experience it whilst playing as Ellie. Instead they put you right in the boots of her adversary which doesn't work well.

    In the end, instead of building an experience that let's you question this cycle of violence and built up a culminating moment where you get to choose whether you end it by letting the ' main adversary' live or complete your revenge by killing her and continuing that circle...it chooses for you. This is the ultimate failure where turning the game into a preaching session instead of a lesson at the end of which you decide what to take away from it. This falls short of the excellent ending of the first game which allowed the player to walk away with their own interpretation of weather Joel was right or wrong.

    Sure, the graphics are very good and the animations amazing, but the core mechanics and gameplay are not certainly not engaging enough for the length of time you're required to use them to finish the story. The game is of course technically accomplished and very polished which is not something we're used to as much these days.

    Ultimately, it's not really the type of story that they chose to tell, nor the killing of one of the most beloved characters in gaming (very much inspired by Glen's end in The walking dead), but rather their failure to provide a similarly meaningful payoff and satisfaction for the audience after such a shock move. In the end it feels like a very shallow, uninspiring revenge story.    … Expand

    To start Joel's death, a rather daring decision that, well executed, could have been good, but it is not the case. Joel, more than 20 years surviving, gets into a house with 15 guys that he knows nothing about? what sense does this make and what sense does abby who persecuted her father's murderer to kill him let the brother and daughter of the man he killed live? knowing that most likely they will go looking for him to kill her and her friends? Clearly a forced decision for what follows, killing one of the best characters in video games in a more than pathetic and meaningless way.

    narration: compared to 1 it is a complete rubbish, I hope for the sake of the first that they leave this up to here

    gameplay: it is an evolution of the first, quite well

    graphics: unfortunately it is the section that stands out the most in the game

    Даже не смотря на феминизм и то как игра уходит в сторону ЛГБТ сообществ ( хотя самого действа оказалось на удивление мало). У игры куча других минусов, начиная от сюжета и заканчивая отношением персонажей между собой.

I grew to dislike every caracter in this game... I wonder who are the target players for this game, as i doubt that most people will connec with an unlikeable edgy lesbian ...but to each their own...     A dad loses his daughter, loses hope for years, until he gets a straight forward mission to help an innocent girl. Both of them embark on an adventure and explore the world at the same time as the audience/gamers. Eventually, both of them became emotional towards each other. At this point, the audience/gamers see them as a father and a daughter. When the time comes for the finale, the man is put in a similar situation to the beginning, where he is about to lose the girl like he lost his daughter, but this time he couldn't let that happen again. So he helps her—cycle complete.

    With The Last of Us Part II, the story has taken a backseat, without a spoiler it is all about revenge. And it is not even a good revenge story. So all the game is left with is Good graphics and decent gameplay. Both of which are not enough to play through the kind of damage you'll receive for loving the characters in the first game. Moreover, if you're a forgiving type of person this game will force you to do things you didn't want to do.    … Expand
