This video game is a quintessential example of greed and capitalist industry gone wrong and it has no legitimate creative reason to exist.

I'm sorry folks, but if you expected this to live up to the strongest points of the original, you were a fool from the start. Atrocious; Philosophically and ideologically bankrupt and incredibly morose and un-fun.

P.S.: There's a world outside and none of these characters are real.

I previously pre ordered every naughty dog game confident it would be a great cinematic game. Needless to say I won't be doing that going forward. The graphics are mind blowing, the music is beautiful. But the story and gameplay are extremely poor. Characters are unlikeable, the story is not satisfying and the missions are just boring. Save your money.

If you really want to play a true revenge story, play God of War 3 that game is a true revenge, not this The Last of Us 2.
Anyway, the game is graphically magnificent, the music, designs, gameplay are great, but that is not enough to justify such a poorly developed story.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us Part 2 is a weird game for me. So much of the story doesn't really make sense with the gameplay. Ellie can take down hundreds of enemies at a time with no sweat off her ass. But she draws the line at pregnant women. With the amount and brutality of the killing she has done would definitely dull those feelings. Why did Ellie let Abby live in the end?. She watched her kill Joel. She has a very big reason to kill Abby! Conscience or not. She won't give a damn! And, the gameplay is a little too scarce. It doesn't feel like you actually play enough of the game. I don't want to watch the game! I want to play it. Disappointing overall and I would not recommend you buy it. And don't get me started on that poorly written sex scene. I swear it has the level of righting as one of those stepbro videos I know a lot of you are watching in an hour. Expand

Like .05 percent of the population. No were not bots you idiots. You were told we didn't want this game yet you forced it on us.You should have delayed the release date and fixed it. We get ellie is gay and had to come out on gay month. Wow how brave.. not! Just so you know we know ellie wasn't gay until the dlc and you know what I don't care she is now but we all know it was pushed for her to be gay for pandering reasons. Then apparently Abby is a trans but shes not but she is? Wtf are you doing with this game. You're lying trailer trying to fool people, your b.s censorship and your outright lies have come to collect. Not only is this game boring because your never playing it, cut scenes of crap you don't care about because who cares about Neil sleeping with Abby and fake gay ellie. Joel dies from the woman he saves and trust these random people? Did you all even play the first game? Joel doesn't trust people!! This game is full of an agenda and nothing more. The story is ellie goes and hunts down the people that killed joel, she doesn't kill them after killing a bunch of people to reach the people who killed joel. Umm what is point of even playing then? Graphics are good? it's the same damn engine!!! The game is cut scenes. The weapons are the same, the moments are the same. Oh boy i can lay down now!! Screw this game!! Screw naughty dog!! There is a reason why everyone left your crapy stupid studio! 70 percent of your leads left. You know what was good, the new cod storyline because thoes people were the ones who worked on the first last of us game! You guys are done! This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There are genuine criticisms to make about this game. Why is there a society that communicates via loud whistles when the infecteds main sense is hearing? Gameplay could've been cut by like 5 hours, some of it seems to drag for a long time. Some of the dialog is awkward and unnatural, and it feels like it was written by the writers of Riverdale. The game should've started with the flashback scenes, it felt out of place with them thrown into the middle of the game. It felt like the infected where an after thought in this game and weren't really a focus at all, and the main big guy you fight felt like something from left 4 dead, not tlou. The gameplay seemed a bit outdated. Overall its obvious the game was written by a different team, it focused less on the natural aspects to their original infected design and it isn't as immersive as the original game.

As for the things done well: I liked the additional puzzles, and breaking glass. The graphics are very well done. The flashback scenes felt like they were written by someone else entirely, and I very much enjoyed them even if they seemed misplaced in the game. The new weapon slection is pretty cool. Rating breakdown:
    Graphics: 8/10
    Gameplay: 6/10
    Dialog: 3/10
    Storyline: 5/10
    Infected enemies 4/10
    New enemies: 6/10
    New characters: 7/10
    Pacing: 4/10

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Some seem to think that this game has done everything better than the previous game except with regards to the story. I completely disagree. The only aspect in which this game triumps over the previous is graphics. Nothing else. The first game sure did not have as expansive maps. However, no matter where you went in the first game, there was substance. One I can think of right of the bat would be the giraffe map, where I vividly remember getting very emotional just by the surroundings. No dialogue or any character interaction needed. Several maps made me feel in such a way. In this game, sure they all looked amazing. But that awe factor was always missing. Furthermore, this game, at its core, is a zombie game. There were no new interesting with regards to fighting newer, improved zombie species. It all felt empty. In the first game, you constantly feel in the wedge of your seat when you're up against a horde of zombies, providing maximum immersion, which I simply did not feel. Construction of materials with construction tables felt empty, as you could simply run through most enemies anyway. Not even gameplay triumps over the last, as it just all felt empty and often loses sight of what made gameplay so immersive in the first game. Last but not least, story. Oh boy. Neil Druckmann did not only spit in Joel, he spot on every single fan waiting eagerly for 7 **** years. Killing off a beloved, main character for no **** reason, with a brand new introduced character doesnt do any justice and is simply poor writing. The criticism here is not that it should not have killed Joel. It is simply the the way it was executed. Simply saying " that's what it is supposed to make you feel" is utter jibberish and a blatant excuse for bad writing. "We are setting a dark tone over the previous game by providing such sudden deaths, making your feel unlawful about the reality of this situation" as a narrative tool **** embarassing, commonly used by 12 year olds in their essay writing at school. The first game, provided an extremely dark and gruesome narrative, no less that the current game, while providing refreshing and immersive narrative. This game achieves nothing beyond the last game in any of these regards. It instead uses cheap techniques to force affection for **** Abby who is disliked greatly not because of **** political issues such as her appearance of gender orientation, but simply because she was a poorly written character, who barely had any character building whatsoever, making crucial decisions and drove the plot into the ground as a result, starting with Joel's kill. Cheap tactics like showing Abby exhibit affection for dogs while playing as Ellie requires you to kill dogs is only catering towards gullible minds of **** children. Narrative decisions like Ellie being unhappy after Joel tells off Seth is just **** g out of character from the Ellie in the last game. All of these characters we have known to live and appreciate simply seem greatly out of character. It's just bad and it is saddening for people, like me, who have waited for 7 **** years for what's most important, a good **** story. The adventures of Ellie and Joel. Character development with regards to several issues in the past game. Even addressing the lie that Joel said to Ellie was rushed within one sad excuse of a flash back in this game that lasted less 5 min. The only portion of this game's narrative that felt like it captured the essence of the previous game was the flashback of the museum trip on Ellie's birthday. That's all. I might not have extrapolated in certain specific aspects of the game, and where it all went wrong, as I hope to provide only the general overview of the disappointment for this game. As for the community side, please, I beg of you, do not use the excuse of "the game made you feel exactly as it wanted you to" , is not **** justified. I am honestly astonished by this stance. At the end of infinity war part 1, I was **** astonished that the villain literally killed major protagonists. It made me feel as intended, without hope and astonished by the gruesome reality of the ending. The last of us 2 made me feel like the game as a whole is a disappointment. And if that is the intention of the game, then I'd be better off buying a PS5 and receiving air from it, as the Craig's list seller, decided to practice his artistic side in life intending to induce rage and **** disappointment. Kudos to him for being the modern picasso of Craig's list. Expand

It’s a revenge story with kill after needless kill, after needless kill. It basically numbs the player to the point where you don’t care about why you started this journey in the first place. The violence became exhausting even before the second half started. There are no new meaningful relationships in part two . The only relationship I cared about during the whole game was the one between Ellie and Joel. ( There’s a scene in this game that’s even better than the giraffe) I didn’t care about any of the new characters in this new story, because I was never really given a reason too. The positives are the graphics are beautiful and the music is amazing. I hope Naughty Dog can take this constructive criticism from the fans and move forward with their next game. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Pros:
    -Great Graphics
-Guns and fighting feels really nice and smooth
-Great moments between the first games protagonists
    -Tons to explore and sightsee

    Cons:
-Minor bugs that ruin the immersion (Guns glitch out, AI acts really dumb, rarely though)
-The story is very hit or miss
    -New characters feel really forced.
-new mechanics don't feel very fleshed out
-Parts of the game fit more in a movie sense. -No sense to replay the game a second time
    -NO Factions MP.
Personally the 4 point i give it go towards the gamplay. The lack of the other 6 are because of the story -2 and the lack of MP -4. I find myself not wanting to play it a second time because i really don't want yo sit through hours of walking and "story building". The lack of MP also just makes me want to not go through the expirience again. I keep hearing this game is not meant to be enjoyed, well yeah they are right i didn't really enjoy it at all. And because of that I dont want to play again. Also, this game really feels like druckmann was high on his ego to make an artistic revolutionary game but failed as hard as Kojima in his latest Death Stranding. Going into the story...
First of all I loved Joel in the first game. I now he's not the hero of a standard video game, I know he was a merciless cold bastard that made a questionable choice in the end. But goddamit was it done well. His death in this game? Just really felt like a **** you to a fan like me. And it's druckmanns choice to have made his death like that. But it's my choice to not like a hack story with butchered characters too. The game lost me and therefore my faith in ND, I'd return this game if i didnt split the cost of it with my friends to play it one by one. The new characters suck and the ending feels so anticlimatic with an even worse written morally gray ending that the first game established. For a game that was placed on a high pedistal it sure fell flat. However, if your a fan you should still buy it, 4 years from now when its on sale for 20 bucks. Wake me up when MP is available. Ill for sure buy that if it doesnt make 2 steps forward one step back like UC4s mp.

Where to begin? This game had a lot of hype around it, and without letting what Sony and Naughty Dog have done to abuse DMCA claims, this will be my review. The critic reviews appear to be giving this an automatic high score out of fear of not getting review copies or paid anymore, but I won't let that enter into my judgment either.

    Pros:
    -Really nice visuals.
    -Game play is decent.
    -Very well animated cut scenes.

    Cons:
    -AI is clunky.
-Way too many cut scenes in proportion to game play, if I wanted to watch an animated movie, I'd watch some Pixar.
-Story was very brutal for the sake of being brutal, without really making any sense or having any real resolution, resulting in many hours wasted for me.
-It sort of reads as a teenagers fan fiction with how it's story, events, and subsequent actions of characters play out.
-The characters themselves aren't very likable, and it's hard to feel any connection to them.
-It feels like it sort of drags on because of how poorly it was written, making it a chore to play and to complete.
-Absolutely no replay-ability because of the story.

In short, if i had to compare it to other games, it would be a Frankenstein of Death Stranding, Duke Nukem Forever and Alien Isolation. It has good visuals, it took years to develop an outdated and an unlikable story, and has dull game play to pad in-between cut scenes. How they went from a winning formula with the first to a complete dud with the second is a major disappointment, but it happens far too often in video games, television and movies. When you have something that works, maintain the formula, maybe adding a new topping or two for some variation and something new; you don't pull out key ingredients and ham fist in others in hopes they'll sate your customers hunger for what they're used to.

It's up to you to believe whether or not the critics are being honest, but as for myself and others, i really wish I hadn't have wasted my money, and more so my time on playing this.

Joel was a paranoid guy who didn't trust anyone and had a post-pandemic life. Ellie was super charismatic in the first game, and in this second with a face or ass all the time, before Joel's death. Neil Druckmann uses as many viewers of the story as he likes Abby to justify his actions. However, it failed miserably. The last of us to me is like Dragon ball GT: Excellent soundtrack, excellent visuals of the characters, but a completely despicable story. Expand

Story 0/10, very much not the advertised story we were told this would be, playing through as a psychopath to justify the killing of Joel and the ending left us with the feeling there was too much of the story cut and we will have to buy the remastered uncut version when the PS5 goes live.
Sound 4/10, the music does barely fit the story narrative, the voice acting could be better with the grunts, oofs and screams for they sound muted and the dogs were too loud with their subtle high pitched squels.
Controls 1/10, not a fan of sequence based movements for you are always having to time and predict when you are going to move before you make your movement.
Overall 1/10, there is nothing other than the story and some unlockables to replay the game, so difficulty doesn't really matter and there is no pay off for playing at higher difficulties.

About 20% of the reason I looked forward to this next installment in the franchise was for combat and game play. That's the only reason I gave this game a 2, rather than a 0.

Back to the game. At the moment there are to many LGBT things going on.
I don't care about Elie beeing a lesbian, I think it's kinda cool.
Gameplay is in my opinion okay, there could be some changes like more weapons variety or alternativ routes to get to a better position.
I love how the dialogs are written it's could be an ordinary conversation. The design of the world is fking great. The character desgings are also fantastic, never saw so much realism in a game on a console. I love the expression of their faces and the the npcs are never useless, they're doing a great job in my opinion. Okay sometimes there are some tiny bugs, but don't care about them, I paid 60 euros for that game. I played it over 20 hours, so it's 3 Euro for a hour and I am totally okay with that. Sad thing is, the Elli part is to short, they could've expand the story about her revenge a little bit more.

Now. I had alot of fun with this game, but I can totally understand the rage from the community.
But I had a great time with this game, honestly

    I wasn't disappointed.
I will always remember the **** dialoges between Elli and Joel, there are not bad written but they are funny bad, cus of cringe and I love that. The last if us part II isnt a game for everyone, u need to be more open to alot of things, ofc there are some strange facts about this game, but I had alot of fun with it and I know, alot of people won't read this post. But I needed to share my experiences with other people.
It's in my opinion a solid 7.5/10 so it gets 8 points from me.

Everyone should watch a let's play of this game to get a own view on things. U should always remember, there are 2 sides of a medal. Same for this game, Abby was ad about her father, Elli was sad about Joel, there is no difference between those characters (ok, muscles maybe, Abby is a bit to "muscular" but I can totally relate to that, because she is in a **** military base and not like Elli in a small village)

First of all the leaks, then the fact that it feels like a disjointed interactive movie... And for the love of GOD Joel's death was unnecessary, brutal, and **** over a character that made the game loved in the first place. I'm sorry but the graphics or game play aren't even that good for a story driven game with an ancestor such as the masterpiece that the first game was, to be considered moderately good. It's not a hateful 0 by any way, but it's a well earned 3. Is it my love for the game that's making me drop the score so low? Yes. But if the fans for the game don't love it then who is this really made for? Expand

I do not hate this game but the story pace bothers me, in the early game they purposely hide details that Ellie would have known and (the game) does not tell you till the end. Ellie journey and how the game ends makes no sense to me. So basically story means a lot to me and this game does not deserve 10/10 or 100 scores there are too many flaws that are obvious.

Story: Very poorly written revenge story
Graphics: Very good but many textures issues.
Gameplay: No new mechanics really, 7 years for this?
Characters: My issues with the characters is the writing for Ellie and Abby are bare bones.

Overall as a fan of the first game, I was excited for this game thankfully I paid little for it due to refunds sony owed me. After this and hearing about how Sony / Naughty dog treated the media once leaks came out I disapprove so I will not be pre-ordering and will now be waiting for non-access media reviews for sony and naughty dog products.

For those who read this, I hold all companies to the same standard and companies. I did it with blizzard, Bungie, Sony (in general due to there past security issues), among other games and companies.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly, for a franchise that's beloved more for it's storytelling and well written characters, there's almost nothing redeeming about this game. It kills one the most important and loved game characters in such a meaningless fashion, and to top it off, it forces you to control, and fails to make you empathize with the very drab and poorly written character that effortlessly cut down Joel. It further rubs salt in the wound by failing to satiate your need for revenge, by having Ellie suddenly have a change of heart and let the ever so horrible and unlikable Abby go. You can tell the creators pandered more to the fringe and widely disliked online personalities like Anita Sarkeesian, and had no issues with ignoring real fans of both gaming and these characters. What made Ellie such a great character was not because she was gay, but rather that she was beautifully and masterfully written. Her being gay didn't define her, but rather helped flesh out an already believable character. It felt natural. The characters added to this game feel forced in their design, and are one dimensional, as if their only defining traits are their sexuality , or gender. There's absolutely nothing appealing about them, and it makes it difficult to like, or empathize with these characters. Ellie, Joel, Tommy, along with a handful of new characters were perfect, but as a whole, they missed the mark with what made the first game so great. If you were a fan of the first game, save yourself the disappointment, or at least lower your expectations drastically before playing this. The best we can do is pretend it's a horribly written fanfic, and only acknowledge that the first game exists.

    Pros:
-Existing characters still likable, and offer up an amazing performance
-Some of the better graphics on the PS4 behind maybe God of War
-Music and sound design is out of this world and creates an immersive experience

    Cons:
-For a game that relies on telling a good story, it just seems thrown together, as it does no justice for franchise defining characters
-Most new characters are just generally unlikable or poorly written (with the exception of Dina and Jesse)
-TLoU has never been highly regarded for it's gameplay, and it hasn't improved in the sequel
-AI is still extremely bad, as it was in the first game
-Forcing the player to assume control of a poorly written one dimensional character like Abby

Which all say nearly identical things. So either people are butt hurt their baby is being ripped to shreds, or Naughty Dog is being a garbage company. Again.

The last time I played TLOU1 was two years ago. I can remember many moments from that game clearly. While I was far from an expert player, I greatly enjoyed all four of my play throughs. Apart from simmering annoyance and anger at the characters, moments of face palming and that "spicy" scene I remember little of the game. And I finished it today. It was just a mind numbing barrage of angry characters, senseless and meaningless violence, and intense feelings of betrayal at what Naughty Dog and Sony did to characters I loved. No matter how good the combat might feel from time to time, or how incredibly beautiful some terrain areas are, this game is a disappointment. The first game was all about the story and characters. This game is about revenge. Apparently. Because no one ever questions whether or not the endless stream of dead bodies they leave behind are worth it, no one questions if this is the right path. They just kill, and kill, and kill. Often without reason.
Joel in the first game was very clear. Fighting is pointless most of the time. If possible, run. In this game Ellie seems to have either forgotten or ignores this advice. There also is no choice in the matter. In a game apparently meant to convey a moral message against violence, you are never given a choice if you want to kill or not. You just do.

And that tidbit sets the example for the rest of the games characters. If able to kill someone; do so.

The mountain of dead bodies in this game is at odds with the claim its meant to show how wrong killing people is.

I could go on and on about a great deal of things, but I won't, other reviews are much clearer and more concise then I ever could be. This game is nothing like the first. It relies not on story and characters, but on boring and dull action, cut scenes with annoying characters, and constant references to things much more interesting than what you're doing at the moment they come up.

While I rarely tell people to not buy something, as they might enjoy the product more than I did. This time I will say this: Don't buy the game. Its simply not worth the money, what you probably loved about the first game is missing here. Perhaps in a few years when you see a copy sitting somewhere for a few bucks you can not feel cheated. But until then, avoid this game.

It's like I'm watching a B-Grade teenage flick. They ruined the old characters and the new ones are not interesting. The only good moments were from the bonding between Joel and Ellie. This game does not deserve any more than a 6, because of how damn unsatisfying it is to play. Anyone who gives it a 10 is a sellout.

First off, notice the number at the end of the title? That means it's a sequel. A sequel to a game with one of the best narratives in the past decade. I'm not going to spend too much time on the original, but what made that game great was how the gameplay tied in with the narrative. Everything Joel (the player) did was thematically linked to the overall narrative of a story of a father who has already lost one child and is tasked to protect another.

Full disclosure - the gameplay of the first did not particularly stand out to me, but the narrative was strong enough to carry it home. And that is crucial, because the sequel absolutely failed in that regard.

in TLoU2, you control Ellie. No big deal, already done that in Left Behind. I'm going to ignore her actions in this game simply because she's 19. I'm going to give that a pass because you can attribute most of her utter idiocy to teen angst, although even that becomes really hard later on.

However, you do gain control of another character. This character is, without a doubt, the most repulsive character in any video game, and you are forced into the perspective of this character in order to humanise them. I do not mean repulsive in way most detractors would try to frame it - hateful, negative and bigoted. I mean repulsive in the context of a player of a sequel to The Last of Us. Even if this character was Nelson Mandela himself, the actions of him/her would immediately vilify them to the player, with no hope of redemption. It's like if Locke actually killed Master Chief in Halo 5.

While I understand that, in the post apocalyptic world of TLoU, things don't make sense all the time, it does not mean the people living in it have no common sense. Unfortunately, nothing makes sense to the player as the actions of the protagonists in TLoU2 do not resonate like they did in TLoU. For example, if in TLoU you had a choice to save Ellie or leave her with the Fireflies, which would you choose? If Joel actually left her, would that make any sense at all? That would immediately ruin the game and its reputation because of how disconnected that would be to the narrative of the game.

in TLoU2, you are forced into that disconnect, and that cognitive dissonance has genuinely made the game unbearable at times. As a result, the laughable story completely failed to provide a compelling reason to play the game, and this is not helped by the aforementioned average gameplay.

I can make a case for the game being 6/10. It's not broken, it's perfectly playable with excellent graphics and average gameplay. Were it a standalone game, I can see it being a 7/10. However, It definitely loses points for being a sequel. The biggest kicker is when you finally finish the game. You do not look back and think 'I had a good time', because it felt like a slog with no payoff. One can argue it was to drive home the moral of the story. If that is the case, I cannot possibly give the game more any than a 6 because of how hypocritical and self-indulgent Naughty Dog is.

No character is two-dimensional, most are good people but have done horrific things and the game leaves it up to the player to determine whether they feel they are justified actions or not, you are not told how to feel which is an aspect I believe is rarely seen in video games and it is interesting to see the divide this has caused in the community over the past few days. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game is graphically beautiful but the story itself has failed entirely to serve as even an adequate follow-up to the beloved game that won our hearts all those years ago. This is a game born of bitterness, and an agenda. The people over at naughty dog hate this game, and they hate you for playing it. I'm all for an emotional gut punch, and it's fine if the blows keep coming, and don't ever stop, sometimes that's life and it can be used to drive a person forward. My disappointment with this game comes in the form of it not showing respect for it's characters, it's story, or it's fans.

The people over at Naughty Dog were paid to make this, and they just put together this awful game, although they should be proud of the technical side of it. Beyond that though, this is a game with fun gameplay, beautiful graphics, and a terrible story. No one acts how they should, given their backstory, and you don't teach any lessons in this game which is supposed to have a moral. If you really wanted me to realize that revenge is bad, than maybe have a scene where Ellie marches through a graveyard that has pictures and names of the people she's killed, or you know all the dogs she killed. Or maybe put something in place that would allow Ellie to get through the game without killing hundreds. Or perhaps simply make it a choice at the end. write a compelling story for Abby and Ellie, and make me feel for both of their plights and then at the end, I as the player get to decide, do I kill Abby, or do I spare her and be the better person.

That could have been an awesome story, instead we got this, no payoff, no lesson learned. Just an up front fee of sixty dollars, followed by a golf club to the knees.

This game is a sad excuse for a sequel and it's a shame that this series is over. I hope they leave the Last of Us alone now. I hope this game get's all the hate it deserves, I hope Naughty Dog loses out on profits, and learns that this isn't the way forward. I know they probably wont, and we'll be seeing a Last of Us part 3 one day, but I have no hope for it, no excitement. I'll stick to the first game which I love so much, and I'll inevitably buy it again for the third time when they decide to remaster it on the next gen consoles. This game will swiftly be forgotten. It'll be in the bargain bin within weeks of it's release. A sad death for what was once something so filled with hope.

If you are reading this, know that this game will only disappoint you. It's got good gameplay and beautiful graphics, a technical masterpiece, but the story is bad, and it tries to make you feel bad for playing the first game. It's obvious to me that someone high up at Naughty Dog hates this game, and the people who like it, and that person has had plenty of control over it. To whomever leaked the game, thank you for saving so many people their money. I hope future titles from all companies see what happened here and take something from it. You're free to make art, and I'm free to hate it and call it trash. I hope Naughty Dog finds it's true fans, the people they are obviously making this game for. I hope it's everything they wanted. But I wont be buying future Naughty Dog titles. Not when they come out, and not for weeks afterwards. I wont buy another Naughty Dog game until I see from those financially braver than I that it's a good game.

Oh and one last thing to Naught Dog, I hope all of those reviews you bought were worth the price. Because now you might as well remove the critic score from every site out there. No one will ever trust them again. Good Job.

If your whole story is a revenge arc... the revenge must occur! Otherwise the entire journey was pointless! What’s the message of this story? It’s okay to kill hundreds of people in a journey for revenge just to let the perpetrator go free with no consequences.. then the hero returns home to nothing. Everyone who cared about her left her to die alone. Great story... not! Stop acting like this is some revolutionary thing naughty dog did. They created a bad story and ruined existing characters people cared about. Proud to say I haven’t given them a dime of my hard earned money. Expand

Before everything else, did I buy, play and finish the game?
No I did not bought it thankfully. Yes I played my friends copy who is currently distraught now. No I did not finish the game for the reasons I will tell below.
    .
The gameplay of TLoU 1 is meh for me, a 6/10 at the most. Generic shoot and loot survival / stealth gameplay but I finished it and would give it an overall 9/10 because of the sheer goodness of the characters development. Its the same feeling as the "one more episode" of your favorite series even though its already 4am and you have work at 7am.
    .
TLoU 2 took all that character development from the first game, crippled it so it could not run, beat it repeatedly for torture and hit it with a golf club in the head as coup de grace. THEY THRASHED IT all because they want to introduce a new character development for their 3rd sequel. That is all i got from the 10hrs so that I played this game, its a new setup for a 3rd sequel, nothing more.
I got tired of playing it so I went to youtube to spoil everything and there my doubts where justified. They did set this whole thing up just for a 3rd sequel.
    .
It pains me greatly that corporate greed ruined a beautiful franchise and it clearly shows with all the shill reviewers giving this thing a 10/10??? F**king joke.
    .
To be fair, the aesthetics, animation and models of the game, the sound and voice acting... They are premium quality, a definite 10/10. Its like watching a movie... Unfortunately I want a freaking game! not an interactive movie! And if its a movie, atleast make a decent written story! As everyone already mentioned, this is like the first half of game of thrones plus avengers infinity wars where Thanos collected all the stones but did not do the snap. Its f**ked up.
    .
If TLoU 1 did not exist, if this game is a first and stand alone of its franchise, maybe things would be different. But they banked on heavily on the success of the first one only to trash its achievement to setup a third one. For that, I hope you enjoy my rating. I give it a FORE out of ten.

Gameplay-wise its just the same as its predecessor

The only downside is the Story.
Story is what made the Last of Us Game of the Year because of the connection between Ellie and Joel as they go through hardships and adventure and that what builds the meaning of the Title of the game. but here not only they kill character you love in the last game they also pushed you to play the murderer and be sympathetic with them.

Im so disappointed with the story seeing that scene made me to drop my controller and think if continue the game.... for me that's a bad sign to start the story.

Now after i completed this game i didnt feel any feelings other than Pure Disappointment and Rage for the Author of this Story.. For me this doesnt exist...

Its not worth the 100 percent review its getting.... and Mostly it doesnt deserved to be the Game of the Year.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game turned out worse than any expectations.

    1) They killed the protagonist of the first part (Joel) at the very beginning of the game, not allowing new players to feel sympathy for this character. He was shown in a couple of points on which it is impossible to conclude what he really is and what connects him with Ellie.

    2) Joel wouldn’t trust strangers like that, much less go to the first comers to the base. He was killed very stupidly and brutally. Without revealing the character at least a little, for new players who did not pass the first part. Look at RDR2, and remember the finale .. there isn’t even that close.

    3) The ending of the game is something with something, in front of Ellie’s eyes, they cruelly kill the person dearest to her, his brother and she herself are crippled. She goes to avenge Joel, killing so many people along the way, everyone who gets in her way. And in the finale, instead of completing what she started, she lets go of her hands .. Neil Druckmann, you should have found a screenwriter, the plot as a spit in the direction of fans of the first part.

You know how in the witcher 3 you could decide with who you want to have sex or just not have sex at all and focus in the game. Well in this game get ready because if you are ready or not, your eyes are going to get F when you see how the character that you use(abby) is going to get it if you wanted or not. However, the enviroment is incredible so it gets one point for it.

If you want to play a game where try to do the best but still you get F all the time then play this game. In my case i am going to leave it where is at and i just prefer to wait for the complete spoilers and not spend more hours playing this thing.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Was a big fan of the first game, and was highly anticipating this one. The visuals and soundtrack are top notch, Gustavo never disappoints. The rest of the game, however, does.

Pretty trees and music can only do so much when games are about storytelling and gameplay. The combat is engaging and entertaining. It's very similar to the first game, and it got a little bit tedious at times; not to mention some of the NPCs have rather clunky AI. Overall, i thought it was solid, and i liked being able to have more options. I only wish they included new combat styles, and the dodge felt a bit bad. The story is what really brought this game down in my opinion, though.

The things I dislike the most about the direction the story went was the fact that so many characters felt, well, out of character. There were some parts i really enjoyed; the flashbacks, and Ellie's quips with Dina. However, Ellie, and Tommy (later on) seemed like an entirely different person with some decisions they made. The way this game treated certain minorities hurts rather than help. it felt they were so focused on including representation that they did it horribly. Joel's death feels unreal, and I know it was meant to feel real and harsh, but it made it impossible for me to like Abby in any way. I think it would feel better if Joel went out protecting Ellie from Abby even. The sex scene was absolutely unneeded, honestly.

The ending felt worthless, everything Ellie did to get to that point and she changes her mind? It felt like everything done in the game was for nothing. Even having the option to kill Abby or spare her would make it infinitely more satisfying for me.

The Last of Us 2 is a breathtakingly stunning game in terms of its visuals and the environment, as well as refined gameplay mechanics and improved enemy AI. However, its story is flawed, and goes no where near the heights of the first game.

The gameplay leading up to Joel’s death is completely out of line with his character, as he seems to have absolutely no suspicion of Abby having her group of friends in a place where Joel has patrolled before. Joel and Tommy have survived this post-apocalyptic world for 25 years and have seen and been through a lot, yet willingly give away their names and where they reside. It’s simply does not make sense, especially given the fact that Joel was super cautious around strangers in TLOU1, even if they had kids like Henry and Sam. Although some people may feel that his death is justified given what he has done and the current state of the world, and also gives a good reason for Ellie to go on her quest for vengeance, the later part of the story simply does not justify the decision to kill Joel so early in the game

When Ellie finally gets her chance to kill Abby and seek revenge for Joel’s brutal death, albeit some time later, she is stopped by a vision of Joel playing the guitar, and in the end suddenly stops drowning Abby and just tells her to leave. This ending does not convey any message, and has absolutely zero meaning to the themes of hate and vengeance they were trying to put across. Sure, Ellie kills hundreds of people to finally lay her hands on Abby, but not killing her and instead just letting her leave whilst losing 2 fingers for absolutely nothing. The ending just makes one feel empty inside, with absolutely zero emotion. Abby is also a very poorly written character, with her backstory thrown in after killing Joel. It does not make the player playing sympathise with her, as we have no emotional attachment to her, unlike our beloved Joel and Ellie in the first game. What made the first game special was the growing bond between the two characters, and this father-daughter relationship paved the way for a phenomenal first game. Sadly, the sequel just aims to make what Joel did saving Ellie seem wrong, and paints Joel and Ellie more like antagonists, while trying to justify Abby’s actions

Overall, it goes no where near the heights of TLOU1 with its poor story writing, and it’s probably one of the worst sequels of all time.

I know everyone is sad that Joel died in the beginning but that's how it would be in reality. Personally I like it when the characters don't have plot armor so I actually feel as if anyone could die at any moment.
