    It's understandable why so many critics were dismissed as homophobes or transphobic. So many in the gaming industry are embarrassingly desperate to prove how progressive they are. And beyond the contrived nature of the LBGT characters in the story, there are many genuine criticisms of this game.
    The characters are boring and Ellie is nothing like she was in the first game. The constant    It's understandable why so many critics were dismissed as homophobes or transphobic. So many in the gaming industry are embarrassingly desperate to prove how progressive they are. And beyond the contrived nature of the LBGT characters in the story, there are many genuine criticisms of this game.
    The characters are boring and Ellie is nothing like she was in the first game. The constant flashbacks become tiring to the point where you start looking for ways to skip them. And the ending is just so.... nonsensical and unsatisfying.
    However, it's stupid to gloss over some of the great parts of this game. The sound, visuals and enemy AI. The combat is good but hasn't changed much since the last game.
    I think the reason why so many people hate TLOU2 is because of how invested they were in the original characters. Waiting 6 years to see them killed off and replaced with bland NPCs has got to sting. But I've got to say that I was expecting it.
    I had fun playing it. But if you're a big fan of the first, I would probably recommend that you keep clear. You'll finish feeling empty and disappointed.    … Expand

    Every game has different aspects like game play, graphics, story and so on. This game is 10 out of 10 in every thing. Story of the game is dark so may be some people won't like It but giving 0 out of 10 is nonsense.

    Dont pay any money to get punched in the gut. That is some free advice. If you liked the first, the second is made to hurt you. Just rent torture p*rn, it won't be as twisted as what's in the game.

    It takes way to long and stretches everything far too much. After a while it lead to me disassociating with the character of the first half completely and just keep marching on to end it. Different to many people I enjoyed the second part a lot more than the first. There was no story ballast left from before. The second characters story - though as transparent as the first ones - had a lot of growth that was coming to her for a long time and was catalysed by the companion characters.

    The ending isn't great either. The final fight destroys a lot of what was narratively built up and then changes the gear back almost immediately as to make the whole struggle between the characters even more annoying and futile. There is nothing in the fight that should trigger the reaction it does, that shouldn't have been triggered before. Even both characters just silently parting ways would have been more impactful.

    tl;dr: With less obvious writing and a tighter pacing this game could have been exceptional. Now it's still pretty good though.    … Expand

    Truly a human experience. This game is a utter emotional ride. Dark, bleak, depressing, yet very human. Loved the ending as well. No spoilers but if you want a game that can really bring you in emotionally then you need to play it. Naughty dog were able to make a artificial world feel real and believable.

    I loved this game. The opinions on it are so controversial because in my opinion people don’t get it. They didn’t want the story to go this way but that’s the point neither the characters wanted any of this to happen. The game makes you angry at characters thinking they’re just terrible persons before showing you that they’re not that different from you and in their eyes you’re just asI loved this game. The emotions you go through while playing are amazing. I just think people expected a whole other Joel and Ellie adventure while Ellie discovers the events of the 1rst game which in my opinion would have been a huge mistake because the same thing with a few tweaks always end up worse than the original. Best example is Terminator 2 and 3. The 3 is the same with a few tweaks which makes you think: meh not bad but it’s basically the same thing

By the way, why do some subjects covered in the game bother people so much?

    I won't go into too much about the history of the game, which by the way is sensational, I just say that it's not just about revenge or just killing, the game is much more complex than what people are talking about, because it's about people. Despite being heavy, it is extremely "fun" and good to play, and deals with important matters, whether you like it or not.

    Finally, it is not just a game, it is an experience where you understand and live together the feelings of the characters, much because of the incredible narrative and graphics. I finished the game but I'm still processing it.

    One of the best games i've ever played. It is a game that delivers what must be delivered, not what kids want. If you want to have the best experience um video games, play it! If you want to see something superficial and industrial as a product, i advice you to watch a princess movie.

Then right when you're about to get revenge for Ellie you switch and play as the villain. It is incredibly boring and you feel the next 10 hours of gameplay be just a chore. The ending is completely unsatisfying where we see Ellie still not getThis was the most disappointing video game of all time.     I think naughty dog took a risk with the story but it definitely paid off. The graphics are amazing, the gameplay is like the first game only improved and the story is what I expected. The larger areas to explore made the world feel more alive. Full of emotion and violence. Perfect

    TLOU set such a high bar with its initial offering back on the PS3, that a sequel was always going to be a tough act to follow. Part Two has been seven years in the making and while it maybe the most technically impressive game I've ever played, I wouldn't want recommend it to anyone that is not already a die hard fan of the series. All of its achievements in visual, voice acting,TLOU set such a high bar with its initial offering back on the PS3, that a sequel was always going to be a tough act to follow. Part Two has been seven years in the making and while it maybe the most technically impressive game I've ever played, I wouldn't want recommend it to anyone that is not already a die hard fan of the series. All of its achievements in visual, voice acting, animations is mired by a messy, nonsensical plot that will leave you with a very unsatisfied taste in your mouth. Little touches like the guitar mini game started off cute the first time you do it but by the third or fourth time, it has long lost its luster and I just played horrible out of spite. So much of your game play experience will be spent with new characters, most of which aren't closed to being fully fleshed out and get discarded for shock value or to pad the plot armor for this poorly contrived, revenge driven narrative. The core mechanics of TLOUS are mostly unchanged apart from dodge and prone mechanics making the combat more fluid. However, you'll encounter the same enemies and will exploit them with the same tactics as the A.I. rarely catches on. The Joel/Ellie magic is still shines when they get their moments. Unfortunately, those moments are few and far between. While I'm glad they didn't try to shoehorn in some pointless multiplayer mode, there is no chance in hell I'd want to revisit this game which feels like a massive misstep for a franchise with so much promise.

    Pros:
    A visual eyegasam with some of the best scenery you'll ever see on current gen systems
    Extremely fluid environmental animations (water, grass, snow)
    Tons of top notch voice acting and dramatic cut scenes
    Dodge and prone mechanics added
    Branching skill tree upgrading system

    Cons:
    The storyboard is a jumbled mess of mass confusion.
    Large amounts of time spent with new characters who are poorly developed and discarded without any meaningful impact
    Gameplay becomes a repetitive slog with much of the core mechanics unchanged from the original
    The mini-games are short lived fun that get old fast and can't be accessed separately if you want to mess around with them exclusively
    Replay value is virtually non-existent with a vapid resolution that leaves the whole franchise on a broken foundation.    … Expand

Yeah nice graphics and enviroment, but also its not entertaining for the more than 20 hours of gameplay it takes. Also some of the NPCs are stupid as a rock. Shame

    I just finished TLoU II last night. I wanted to play through the whole game before leaving an impression here. If there were .5 options then I'd call this an 8.5 but opted to give an 8 instead.

    I put in about 28-29 hours to complete the game and didn't find every extra goodie available. While bigger is sometimes better, in this case some sections felt too long. I wanted to find out the next story beat and getting there never feels like a straight shot, or some unexpected wall pops up that adds 30 minutes to the section (a classic Naughty Dog trope at this point). TLoU II isn't the first Naughty Dog game that is guilty of this. Uncharted 2 and 3 had some sections that could have been shorter as well.

    As for stealth mechanics, maybe I'm really bad at playing stealthy in this game. I felt like I was being pretty careful to not be seen or heard but most of the non-infected enemies seem to be able to spot and hear me pretty easily. There are many sections of the game that were designed with hiding places (under trucks or beds, in storage containers, in tall grass) so it seems like there was an intention to be able to play in such a way to be unnoticed and sneak up on enemies but that rarely ever worked for me. I was in open combat more often than not.

    The last criticism I had is that when I spent time searching the larger areas looking for hidden extra goodies the game would prompt me to click L3 if I need a hint. I don't need a hint, I'm just trying to find the hidden things. For all the extra work Naughty Dog put into making extra notes, cards, coins, etc. the game equally pushes me to stop looking for those and move forward.

    As for the violence, it is a bit over the top but it wasn't off putting for me as a player. I would say if someone else was watching me play they'd probably think I'm a sadist but I swear I'm not :D

    Everything else about the game I enjoyed. The combat is tight (even when I didn't want to rush into combat), the technical aspects of visual and audio presentation are fantastic, and I thought the story was good (albeit a bit too long). There are some flashbacks within flashbacks which does feel a bit strange but that feeds into my "game is too long" perspective. Could they have done it any other way? Probably, but I'm not a narrative or game designer so they did it better than I could.    … Expand

Joined by companions and friends, Jesse and Dina, she seeks to right a wrong in this harsh and unforgiving world. As the story progresses, the player begins to unravel the complex relationship Ellie has with Joel about the lie Joel tells Ellie about the firefly hospital, and the justifications of one’s actions.

    The Last of Us Part II’s ideas on the morality of this revenge quest bleed into the players’ actions as the game progresses. Navigating through Seattle, Ellie kills hundreds of people in her quest for revenge. When killing enemies you may sometimes hear an enemy yell out a “Claire!” or a “Nate!”, indicating that the NPC you just killed had been a person in this world. For myself, this made me question, “Was this necessary for Ellie to do?”. Deepening the immersion into a world is what Naughty Dog excels at.

    With the upgrade in hardware from the original release of The Last of Us on the PS3, to the The Last of Us Part II on the PS4, the graphical upgrade was inevitable. As with the first game, Part II pushes the limit of the system it resides on. Beautifully rendered character models come alive with performances in motion capture, complete with all the fidgets and quirks of real people and highly-detailed environments bordering on realistic, capped with great visual and sound effects, as well as a top of the shelf soundtrack to complete the whole package.

    Part II raises the bar for excellent environmental storytelling that the first game had set for itself. In a more open design of levels, exploring the overgrown streets and abandoned buildings has allowed the player to imagine what once was before the outbreak. The game also uses the environment to lay the foundation for the two main factions present in Seattle; The Washington Liberation Front and the Seraphites, establishing iconographies and telling stories of conflict between the two, competently showcasing a world that feels grounded and lived in.

    Gameplay in The Last of Us Part II isn’t fundamentally different to in the first installment, but it does improve on it overall. Stealth and being smarter with the resources is still highly rewarded but as with the change in playable character does come a change in the pace and fluidity of encounters. Ellie is both smaller and more agile than Joel, which in turn, introduces different ways she can handle situations, such as hiding in spots Joel could not reach. This makes for a familiar yet fresh experience.

    Naughty Dog has made one of if not the most accessible games for players with disabilities. With over 60 accessibility options, the game has options for blind and low-vision players, fine motor hearing and deaf players as well as players with motor related accessibility options. Often looked over in other games, Naughty Dog has taken the time to add options other game developers disregard.

    The Last of Us Part II delivers a great sequel to one of the masterpieces of video games as a whole. It continues to deliver a deeply personal, emotional and engaging story in an amazingly-detailed world filled with well-written characters. A good story stays with you after you put down the controller and this is no exception. It is a must play.    … Expand

    The amount of people who bombarded the reviews of this game without even playing it is ridiculous, petty and just plain sad. If you were actually to play the game you would see it for it's amazing graphics, game play, lighting, models, animations, story line etc. It's embarrassing to see some of these peoples negative reviews without real reasoning. What a shame.

Um dos jogos onde pude viver personagens com sentimentos humanos e em The Last of Us 2 tem muito disso, personagens humanos, onde cometem erros, onde fazem escolhas questionaveis, duvidosas e seus atos geram consequencias. Terminei o jogo e fiquei pensativo por alguns dias, digerindo tudo que tinha acabado de viver. Graphics and environmental details are at their absolute best and although the gameplay may get tedious at times, I found it very satisfying overall. That being said, The Last of Us was always about the story primarily. It was not hailed as a masterpiece because of its gameplay, but because its character interactions and story were so good. This game fails primarily because Neil Druckman got more obsessed with his "art" and agenda then he did about making a satisfying and fulfilling sequel. You watch the main character of the last game be brutally and disrespectfully killed after having him break character completely. Besides flashbacks, Joel and Ellie have less than a handful of scenes together and their relationship is barely built upon. You are then forced to play as his killer for what amounts to nearly half of the game while they blatantly try to force you to empathize with them. In an attempt to make you feel bad (as is seemingly this games entire purpose) Druckman vilifiies the main characters you've come to love. After killing her way through countless random survivors to get to Joel's killer, Ellie lets them go in some absolutely atrocious epiphany moment. It ends on Ellie existing in her biggest fear, being alone. A true and absolute failure in every way but visuals and being a post apocalyptic murder simulator. Even at that, it constantly guilts you out of any enjoyment you could get from it. Cannot express my disappointment and hate for this game and its director. Based on gameplay and set pieces the game could garner high praise, but with a story this poor, everything else that could be good is rendered moot.… Expand

    This game is freaking art. It made my stomach twist but it also made me feel peaceful and oh goodness i don't think I've ever connected with characters in a video as much I have in this game(and its predecessor of course). Wow what a ride. Definitely not a joyride but when we can call a movie like Joker art, we call this game art too. Naughty Dog took a huge leap of faith with this one

Personalmente jugue a este juego y la verda que me parece una falta de respeto la calificacion 0 ya que de por si obviando la historia este es un gran juego a nivel grafico y jugabilidad, en el caso de la historia yo personalmente estoy de acuerdo en matar a joel debido a que el tipo desde el trailer ya se notaba muy demacrado pero personalmente me parecio forzado su muerte y la forma como le perdonan la vida a ellie. Realmente este juego lo odiaras unicamente si al terminarlo sigues odiando a abby y no estuviste de acuerdo con la muerte de joel. Pero yo como dije antes si estoy de acuerdo con la muerte de joel, esta entre nos muestra la evolucion de ellie y de lo que conlleva la venganza.     The Last of Us Part II is a story about hate and people driven and destroyed bt it, so it amazes me how the message of the game transcends into a real life and a fuzz people make around this game. But in real life we don't even need a zombie apocalipse to show our worst.
    It's a sign of a real emotional immaturity to cry about a story decision in a video game.
    Please note, that nearly all of the negative reviews were posted on June 19th, as soon as Metacritic opened user reviews section for TLOU2. These people didn't play a game, they came just do spread hate.

    In my humble opinion, it's the best, the most dark and brutal story in video games so far. It's direct and ugly to the bone. it doesn't screw around and provides something very unique in game industry. There is nothing like it. It doesn't play around with movie tropes. It hits you in a face with unexpected, brutal events. It's the most violent game, because of very dark, realistic presentation.
    Story, locations, characters are amazing in this game.

    The combat part of a gameplay is superb. At first glance, it's a mild evolution on concepts introduced in the first part of the franchise. If you played previous Naughty Dog games, you will feel like home. The best thing about the gameplay, is that there are no clear borders between stealth, meele combat, shooting and running and hiding. It's all combined into a unique 'survival experience', that will makes you tense and nervous like no other game. In other stealth games, usually when I'm discovered by enemy I restart encounter. But mechanics of TLOU2 are so good, so elegantly combined, that I nearly enjoy being disovered and fighting for my life. It really looks like in this E3 trailer, where you assasinate few guys from stealth, than you are discovered, you run, you hide under a car etc.

    No need to speak about graphics and sound, as it speak for itself.

    Game has a few problems though:
    - it's too streched. I'd like it to be more story focused. Instead game too often prolongs the story with very long explorations, journes, retrospections etc. Often I was annoyed when I wanted to know how the story events will unravel, but game fed me with fillers
    - LGBT is really strong in this one. Way stronger than I initially though. It's not just that Ellie is a lesbian (which I think is great, it suits her character). There's much more of that stuff and bards will sing songs about butthurt of gamers for the years to come. It doesn't bother me, just like sexism in video games doesn't bother me much. It's just a game, lets take a chill pill, be more tolerant to other people's beliefes. Neil did the game he wanted to do and I respect that.
    - too much of licking the walls. I understand looking for resources is important part of a game, but I expect better from Naughty Dog 2020
    - too much of 'this door is locked, lets look for a different way in' kind of crap. I hope I wouldn't experience this in Naughty Dog 2020 game

Отдача от оружия чувствуеца на кончиках пальцев, удары ближнего боя э мега сочные и прекрасно поставленные, от самих приемов до операторского ракурса, все великолепно. Атмосфера.. Атмосфера передана великолепно, особенно пугающие места здесь сделаны просто потрясно. После каждого боя с зараженными, выходил с трясущимися руками. Сюжет к сожалению может многих разочаровать, но как по мне он хоть и уступает оригиналу, но не в коем случае не плох. Вторая половина игры, заставила меня испытать кучу эмоций, а концовка вывела на долгие размышления. После прохождения я понял на сколько все в этой игре получили по заслугам, и каждый ответил за свои действия. Я рекомендую эту игру, но строго не рекомендую ожидать много от нее, иначе можно совсем разочаровываться!… Expand

O jogo possuí qualidade de cenários e animações muito superiores a quase tudo que existe no mundo dos games, mas a jogabilidade evoluiu pouco em relação ao original e a IA dos inimigos permite vc “empilhar corpos” abusando das mesmas técnicas.

    O roteiro e o desenvolvimento da história são os pontos mais fracos, com vários problemas:
    - Grande quantidade de NPCs e organizações mal desenvolvidas; Exemplo: Isaac, o líder da WLF, tem uma introdução pesada e depois uma morte banal;
    - Uma tentativa clara de recriar um sentimento de apego entre Abby e Lev nos moldes do primeiro jogo porém feito de uma forma nada realística (o primeiro jogo mostra 1 ano de convivência entre os personagens e não 3 dias...)
    - Diversas mortes “instantâneas” que parecem planejadas com a intenção apenas de causar um choque;
    - Os personagens centrais não dialogam entre si. A série nunca teve discursos longos, mas nem um breve grito de “o Joel matou meu pai!”? As protagonistas se encontram em pontos diversos e nem extravasam toda a carga emocional que se espera que esteja em pauta.

    A impressão geral é de que em busca de reforçar a lição moral que o jogo desesperadamente quer contar, eles realocaram eventos e a linha do tempo para se adequar a transmissão da mensagem. O jogo se preocupa menos com contar uma história crível e mais com conduzir o jogador a uma conclusão, causando diversos momentos de desconforto sem entregar coesão nem com o primeiro jogo e nem com a própria história que coloca temas demais na primeira metade e tem uma amarração corrida na segunda parte.

    Uma conjectura com relação ao tempo de desenvolvimento e aos trailers que foram liberados ao longo do tempo: tudo indica que o jogo seria uma história mais tradicional de vingança (talvez ficasse melhor contada) e que foi distorcida por decisões de direção.    … Expand

    I just finish the game, It was an amazing experience. I love that you can play the both side of their story. Hoping for a third part for some good closure of Ellie's story, I'm now on my second run of the game, trying to hit the platinum trophy.

Forced down Abby as a playable character and made us spend hours of boring never-ending gameplay for basically nothing impactful on her story. And to top it all, the storytelling is confused, going back and forwards, switching characters; it's nothing from the good things of the first game (the real absolute masterpiece). There was NOTHING I would complain about or disagree with. This game HAS to be played in order to understand the whole story. Watching playthroughs is not enough.Trust me. I finished it today. I cried, laughed, thought about specific things and sometimes I was left completely speechless. This game deserves nothing but a 10/10. Everyone who says it is a 1-3 /10 is lying. Those have NOT played the game or at least DIDNT finish it until the end. These are just people who watched playthroughs and are not happy with the story because a character died.     The gameplay has improved massively, I like the fact alot of the areas are seemingly unpolluted as it makes you more cautious than being constantly bombarded with enemies.
    Story's so far is good too.

    This game is exactly the way a videogame for adults should look like because ...

    We all know the graphics and performance are unreached and show how much work and passion Naughty Dog has put into this.

    About the story ... I don't get it guys. I don't undetstand how any of you could hate this story. Its authentic, its intense and emotional and here is why ...

    Some people say Ellie changed in a way many fans didn't like. Okay .... how would you turn out dealing with all this **** ? Growing up in a QZ ruled by violence and corruption ? Losing your first love ? Be overwhelmed with this situation about her immunity ? Seeing people getting killed daily and finally watching the only person dying who ever has been a Dad for her ? How could Ellie still be that girl who's joking and laughing ?

    Same with Abby ... when I saw her killing Joel, I was shocked like every single person. But I knew there has to be more. Something must've happened years ago ... I gave her that chance, like everybody should do even in real life. You dont know what that person have been through, who she lost. In the end there was no difference between these two women. They were broken, they were hurt so badly ...

    And how the writers of this journey told this story was unlike anything else.
    As more I played with Abby, the more I liked her, because she cared, she loved, she even showed mercy to the girl who killed all of her friends ... With Abby they made a great character who I'd love to see in another game someday ...

    So I'd like to thank everyone involved in making this game. Thanks to Neil Druckmann, thanks to the actors, especially Ashley Johnson, who did another outstanding job with Ellie.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us Part II is a masterpiece and y'all forgot naughty dog's idea. TLOU2 is a game about hate, revenge, the hate cycle and people. Y'all defend that idea that Joel is a hero, but he actually isn't, even in Ellie's story he isn't a hero. He murdered a lot of people and stopped the Fireflies find a cure. Soon or later, someone could search for him to do a revenge, and this was what happened. Joel is the hero only in his story. Abby did a revenge but she lose too. Abby's Father, Yara, Owen, Mel, Manny were murdered, she lost WLF, she and Lev were kidnapped, they starved and were left to die. Ellie lost two fingers, Jesse died, she got PSTD, left Dina and JJ because she's so tortured with Joel's death that she "NEEDS" search for revenge, she couldn't forget herself for be beaten by Abby. Ellie broke this cycle of hate and finished her revenge when she realizes that she lost everything she loved, realizes this is self-destructing and she needs to forgive, then the game ends showing that she's trying now. Every revenge has your costs, every story has your side, but in the end they all become stuck in revenge and then the cycle hate begins. Everyone killing, stealing, doing whatever they want for revenge. Naughty Dog showed that to us, they showed up the consequences, the story sides and why revenge is useless and we shouldn't do this, because we lose everything that we love at the end. They teached us how we should let it go and forgive people. And it's obvious that a story about hate doesn't have a happy ending, as I said, TLOU was about love and TLOU2 hate.

    Also, people are hating TLOU2 because of LGBTQ+ characters. Ellie always was a lesbian, her relationship with Dina it's so well constructed. Lev being trans kid it's so adorable (I want so BAD protect this kid). LGBTQ+ persons (or characters) DO exist and you have to accept that. We don't live at the 80s anymore, we're free to love and be who we are (except if who you are include hating others just for being who they are, confuse? I know lmao).

    I needed some time after I finished the game to process what happend and get better understanding what happend and to realize that game is good not for 10/10 but for 8/10 could be more. The story of the game is heavy and hard to chew but experiencing and playing had something that was keeping me with that game to the END. After 2 hour of game i was shooked what happend.
