Now, a more detailed look. TLOU2 has the theme of revenge. It's an old theme, one that has been covered many times. I'm not adverse to stories exploring it, but it does seem a little... generic. I do like that it's used here as a jumping off point to explore larger themes like obsession.

Both Ellie & Abby are both obsessed with revenge & we see the impact it has on both of their lives. Initially, from Abby's perspective, she gets hers & all seems well. Then Ellie re-enters her life & we see the impact her revenge has on her life. She loses everything. Her friends, her place in the world; had she not gone hunting Joel, Owen would not have gotten worn out so soon, she'd have never met Lev, she'd have likely stayed with the WLF. Similarly Ellie loses everything; her father figure, her partner, their child. Both have a sliver of hope at the end - Abby sets off with Lev; Ellie still has Jackson, Tommy, Maria and Dina & JJ are out there.

So yeah, the main narrative - how revenge is destructive - is done well. It's a little standard, but it works. But there's more. PTSD. At first Ellie seems fueled by grief, but gradually we come to see that she is suffering from PTSD and, alone with Dina, she lacks the support to process it appropriately. This fuels her revenge, she becomes increasingly driven by both. That's an element a lot of revenge narratives don't look at, so that helps the story to stand out slightly.

Okay, now to all things queer. This game does representation pretty well overall. There are some issues, but overall it's good. First, sexuality. The game goes to great lengths not to sensationalise or sexualise Ellie's sexuality & in doing so sets a solid standard in representation of LGBTQ relationships, with just one issue I'll cover soon. They have ups & downs, Ellie puts her foot in her mouth at times, there are adorable moments in equal measure. And they avoid the dead lesbian trope. **** finally. I do find it unfortunate that at the end Dina has left.

The game's flaw is its obsession with negativity. I can't think of a single character aside from Eugene (who passed away peacefully before the game) who doesn't go through Some Horrific **** The game feels like misery porn at times & it's kind of overwhelming.

Lev. Where to start. Lev is a great character with a nice arc. I love that the protagonists just accept him. Abby hears his deadname & when he asks her if she's going to ask about it, she replies with "do you want me to?", he says "no" And She Doesn't Ask.

This is where we have an issue. Deadnaming. Story wise, I get why it's there. The cult doesn't accept trans people. But also, they don't want him back, they want to kill him. At times they refer to Lev & his sister as apostates & I don't see why they wouldn't just stick with that. They are no longer part of the family, they deserve death. Just leave it at apostate.

Lev is one of a handful of unambiguous trans characters in AAA games. When one of such few characters is involved with some of the most horrific misery porn made, including causing the death of his mother in self-defense, it has an impact. I get that TLOU is a truly horrific world, but this goes back to what I said about every single character experiencing Some Real Nasty **** It feels unnecessary, especially given the real world **** trans people have been going through for years.

That doesn't change the fact that Lev himself is a solid character & it'd be nice to see more of his story in his own words, not others talking about him, which is another issue, almost all of his trans narrative is presented though others. He's a fantastic character and I hope he returns in a potential TLOU3 in a much expanded role.

So, how is the queer representation in TLOU2? Overall, it's several steps forward. Neil Druckmann & team did a good job. I hope they take on board some of the criticism they've received. Again, going back to misery - I get that TLOU is not a happy world, but if you're going to include LGBTQ+ characters please remember that we go through A Lot Of **** in our current world. Seeing a game that, in some light, can be perceived as saying "see how worse it could be?" feels a little like offering a chocolate bar in one hand whilst holding a lead pipe in the other, ready to strike.

I'm not saying to put us on an untouchable pedastal or anything like that. Just please bear it in mind & try to offer more balance of light with the darkness. Consider the minorities you are representing. Bring us in. Have us help you on the path. Talk to young trans men. Talk to people who have escaped cults.

So, did I enjoy the game? Absolutely. It's fantastic, easily the best game of the year so far, indeed the best game in many years. It has issues but so does *all* art. Hopefully the team will learn the lessons of Disney and not have a knee jerk reaction to online negativity. Have confidence in the stories you tell & stand by your convictions.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It was the most anticipated game of 2020 ... and now what? The worst game of 2020! No one talks about graphics, controls, other details (that was quite good actually)..The main tragedy is the script. just for fun kill the main character Joel and when play as his killer, seriously ??? seriously??? No one cares about her s..t story, half of the the game playing by Abby's character, the feeling was like we were being raped. And as a result, Ellie's role ... teenager, who didn't care about Joel, she practically hates him and what kind of revenge was that??? I...cannot even finish this review...My money was thrown into the trash...A huge disappointment and hopefully they won’t make part 3 anymore, enough of this nonsense. Expand

I have read some poor comments about this game, all I have to say is...what an immature collection of people!
In this review I will not discuss the development of graphics or mechanics of this game, because they are just perfect, has is the sound, environment and voice acting!- Congratulations from a Software Engineer.
I will although defend the story of this amazing game, a story that everyone seems to miss the point. I am tired of classic stories where a character we love gets killed and we have to simply avenge him, this story is a lot of things, but simple is not one them!
I found myself not wanting to see what the game had to show me, not because of negative things, but because this game touched my feelings like no game has ever done before! This game doesn’t just tell the story of Joel and Ellie but puts the player in the mind of the people that are actually in an apocalypse! You start the game angry and wanting revenge for what happen to Joel, you follow Ellie’s point of view, where everything you are doing seems right! You think “These people deserve it”!
But then the game touches in your deep feelings and twists them by making you play with Abby...”what a low blow”... I first thought, but it was in fact genius! Abby is so much like Ellie, and more than that...she is so much like Joel! When you get to the end of Abby’s days in the beautiful city of Seattle, you end up with the fact that...”damn...she is actually a good person”...and so are the kids from the Scars and so is Ellie and Joel...and that’s where the simulation of the apocalypse comes in...the main characters of this story are not bad people at all...just people fighting for different things in a **** up world...
I ended this game having to admit to myself that if anyone acted badly...was my favorite character...Joel...love makes you choose in a selfish way...
The end of this game...is about grief...and both Ellie and Abby lost more then they gain with revenge...Abby lost her friends, Ellie lost the opportunity of a family and happiness...but in the end she managed to make piece and say goodbye to Joel in a last song...just...beautiful...
Such an original story...like I have never seen before, I could never predict anything on this game!
It’s time that games enter in a new era, with new stories and emotions! And it’s time that us, gamers, open our minds for what the game has to show us and not for what we wanted to see!
    Naughty Dog...thank you!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I think the game is amazing in many aspects. The gameplay is never boring while we are playing and the animations are on a whole new level with a massive variety of killing, dying, hitting, shooting, dodging animations. The prone factor is an awesome added feature that helps in many aspects. The sound of every single weapon, music, background sound, explosions, crafting, weapon upgrades, item pick up, infected, ellie's steps on the floor, everything that is related to sound is just flawless and are for the most part really pleasurous to hear giving that full immersion into the game giving us a sound orgasm like feeling. The wide variety of weapons is incredible and larger compared to the first game and we get to experience different weapons with ellie and abby wich is awesome since we get to see that both of them really aren't that much alike when it comes to fighting style and the way they choose to approach the enemy. while I played with ellie i liked to go for a more stealthy approach while with abby I most of the times was the first one shooting my shots and making noise. It's interesting to see that the two characters have different fighting styles according to theyr physical strength and battle experience. Graphics wise there is nothing to complain about it is by far the All PS4 can give and it is amazing to see how much attention to the details Naughty Dog payed because it is incredibly well done. When u shoot enemies or stab them, when you get close to a tree or a wall, the psysics of the ropes and eletric cables, the snow and the clothes. Now for the facial expressions, by far the best ones so far. When u look down with abby on a high place you can tell by her face that she is terrified of heights, the face ellie makes while stabing the enemy,or even when you get shot. It is just incredible what they managed to achieve with the face expressions. Now for the story. I wouldn't say it is bad. I actually think it is really good (this is my opinion, if you didn't like it just don't judge). I think the gore like death of Joel was a litle soon but we get those flashbacks that maded me cry A LOT. As for Ellie's part I have nothing bad to say. The way the story is told up to that part is amazing. Then comes abby. I'm like ok imma have to play as abby, whatever. I understand that with that Naughty Dog is trying to make us see the two sides of the coin and it really makes us think. I think that in terms of environments abby's part was actually much better than Ellie's beacuse while in ellie's part we see much green and plants, even though it is amzingly detailed, it is pretty much the same. But in Abby's part we even get to go to the top of those super tall buildings and go through those amazing bridges. Now my issue with abby isn't the character itself because she did what she did and she had her reasons...That is understandable she did the same ellie did, to seek revenge. But I just think that Naughty Dog made us play TOO MUCH with abby, there were parts that could have not been shown like abby and owen's sex scene and when abby comes back after that night when u go back to yara and lev you could have just taken us to them but ok. According to the end of the game, I think it is very well done. She doesn't get her revenge BUT like, look at what they did to each other, both ellie and abby have lost so many things because of each other. I loved and that last flashback between ellie and joel just killed me. i loved it. So all in all, I think it is a spectacular game, animation and graphics wise it is amazing. The sounds are the best and the story in my opinion wasnt as bad as people say it was. I wouldn't say I liked TLOU PART II better than TLOU 1 but TLOU PART 2 sure was an incredible game with massive achievements. I give it a solid 9/10 Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's very easy to get on your high horse and believe that your creation is too sophisticated for "people to get". That will make some people compelled to "get it", so they can feel brighter, or more open-minded than others. But there's nothing to "get". This game overstays its welcome by 15-20 hours. It's repetitive and extremely boring, trying so hard to shock you with one of the worst excuses for a story I have ever experienced in gaming. The sudden flashes of storytelling brilliance (the astronaut scene) only hold contrast to the bleak everything else. The devs have completely abandoned everything that made the first game the masterpiece that it was and filled this game with a lot of SJW stuff, for the sake of being edgy. Unmemorable, and even completely insufferable characters that you are forced to spend time with, and Ellie can easily make this list, too (I disliked her character arc just as much as I disliked Abby). By the end of this unfortunate 30 hours experience, I couldn't care less who dies and in which order. It is hard to believe that such a flop could possibly exist when you have unlimited resources, and top-notch talent on all frontlines of visuals, music, level design, and voice actors. But those things are never enough if there's no compelling story to tell, and I feel extremely sorry for the people that were overworked to create this game. You can put 10.000 plants and detail every piece of grime on a wall by hand, but that's not why we play games. And elementary school philosophy doesn't count as a compelling story. I regret every second I have spent in the second part of this game. I am extremely disappointed to say that. I will never buy another Naughty Dog title, as long as the current leaders stay in their place. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Despite the leaks, I went into this game with an open mind. What I found is that The Last of Us Part 2 will be a game that I will remember because of its impact on me. I think about it all the time, I can't stop! Very few games stick with me after getting through the credits but this game has rewritten what a videogame and a story can be. Playing through this there were moments like Ellie's cover of 'Take on me' and the ending fight between Abby and Ellie that were some of the greatest moments I have ever experienced in a videogame. This game tells a story of revenge, Abby's revenge story shows the effects as she loses everyone close to her while you see Ellie directly go through it during the game. The game to me is about breaking this cycle and truly finding a purpose, that was the true goal that was achieved in the end. While I can't directly express my thoughts into words I just want to share my experience and while it wasn't perfect I can happily say it was a game I won't forget but rather a memory I hope will never fade. obviously killing joel and bringing in a freak character + that totally unneeded shoving obscure lgbt stuff down my throat makes me give a zero score. I just wanted to play a game! Get it?

graphics and the gameplay is mostly okay though and if you can ignore that freaky sexual stuff, then go ahead.

all the puzzles are WAY TOO EASY to solve, everything is served to you on the gold platter. mostly looking around in the same or adjacent room is more than enough to find the final clue.

very annoying is the way ai works, all the enemies stroll on the same route, they are too predictable and the co-character always gets in my way when exploring rooms/areas or when hiding behind obstacles to attack enemies. the other character get on my way ALL THE FREAKING TIME.

Also, too many cutscenes. TOO MANY!!! at the end of the first chapter, there are 4 cutscenes in a row, that's annoying, to say the least.

i played it through and was hoping i can then select individual chapters and collect all the missing stuff, but as it turns out... at first all chapters were available and i started re-playing the first chapter, it then fookin thought it was a good idea to again hide all the rest of the chapters and now i have to play the whole game, all chapters in the original order again, to get 100% of the game. WTF, how did that happen? I did not do anything strange, After completing the game, I chose Story > Chapters > saw that all the chapters were playable > opened the first chapter > played it a bit > went back to main menu to choose another chapter and ... WHAM... only the first chapter Is playable.

If you are having doubts about buying this game: DO IT! Don't listen to the crybabies giving it a 0. This game is amazing. Even if you end up not liking the story (I love it), all the rest is top notch. Giving this game less than a 7 is unconceivable. It's just like saying that Rambo: the videogame is the best game ever.
Don't trust user scores, like, ever.

"No one is perfect" I think that's what they tried to show in this game. Everyone is a good person in someones story, and a bad person in someone else's. Must play it with an open mind. Revenge is a chain and in the end Ellie just broke it.

Let’s imagine there was NO part one of this game, we’re introduced to this new character Ellie who see’s her friend Joel getting killed and then sets on this journey to seek vengeance. We play as Ellie and then as Abby.. This game would probably get 8-8.5. It’s by no means a perfect game, but it’s fun, not too bad of a story, great graphics, fun combat. However, Playing this game after the original game is definitely a disappointment. We’ve already built a connection with Joel and Ellie, and now we see Joel getting killed and then Ellie losing everything at the end of the game AND on top of that have to play for 10 hours as the character the killed Joel and expecting us connect to her! It felt exhausting and pointless, I just didn’t care about Abby, no matter how many times I interacted with the dog or played as her when she was young or went to the hospital where her father was killed! I DID NOT CARE. SHE KILLED JOEL. I played through the original game at least 5 times, probably 10. I finished part 2 and will never touch it again, that sums up the difference between the experiences we go through. Considering all of the above, it’s still not fair to give the game a 2 or 3, it’s clearly a well done game (mostly) and that’s why it’s a 6 for me. Expand

Druckman said the story is about hate and revenge, to me it is a story about forgivness or the missed chance to forgive and the realization that allowing grief to is a way to heal . Ellie is angry not only because she is driven by revenge but also because she wasn't able to properly forgive Joel before he died. So she wasn't able to properly grieve and let hate drive her.
The story is awesome and multiayered and even though I was hesistant to play Abby in the beginning I came to like her and feel empathy towards her.
Killing her in the end would not have made Ellie satisfied, but forgiving did!
The game gave me everything I hoped for in a game: Anticipation, tension, fear, humor, sadness, every now and then horror and in the end it doesn't let you go and gives you something to think about.

It could have been a great, beautiful game but what they made it out to be is another mainstream, political agenda forced upon us. Why even telling this whole story, letting us love and bond with the characters and showing such a conflict when none of it seemed to really play a role in the second part? It's a disappointment. I loved the first TLOU so much and of course I will continue doing so. It will always remain a masterpiece. But I wish they hadn't done what they did to the second part. Really just Joel and Ellie running around the country again getting into mayhem again with better graphics is all everyone wanted?

I loved the first game. I got the platinum. With this game i was ready for something different. Not only was the narrative different it was clever and it resonated.

Does anybody realize that ND wanted everyone to hate abby? They gave no reason to like her at first. She killed joel after joel and tommy saved her. We knew she had a reason but damn she killed joel!!

This is now a revenge game in our minds for 15 hours. We gotta get that ****

Then the confrontation comes and we bam switch to abby.

I dont see why people say that naughty dog forced the sympathy with abby. Shes still an incredibly flawed women. She is "a piece of **** as mel says. She also was ready to happily slit dina's throat after she found out she was pregnant.

What we do find out is her motivation for killing joel. She spent 4 years making herself a weapon of revenge.

While she watches her friends die over 3 days she tries to get some of what she was before her father died back by helping lev.

In the end letting go of hate is the theme here for both women.

I truly loved the experience of last of us 2 the gameplay was great the visuals where top notch and the game surprised me which is all that i could hope for.

In part 1. Joel (the protagonist) made a terrible choice and in this part he is going to pay the price. If you see this as a spoiler, maybe it's best to left the game for what it is. I see in the reviews a negativity about the story where you can conclude that everybody thought that Joel was a perfect protector of Ellie. if you played the last half hour of the game, you know he isn't.

The game desperately wants you to realize that everyone has ups and downs. Ellie is the biggest example. Although she was an innocent child in part 1. She is not the little girl anymore in this game. She is wounded in part 1 and she takes it with her in this game.

I have only one negative point in my review. It's a playstation exclusive. With other words. If you want to play the game and you don't have a playstation, they force you to buy one. Ten years ago this could be fine, but not anymore. In my opinion there is no excuse to make exclusives to one platform which are valid and so it's a 9 instead of a 10.

I didn't see any bugs, the fighting mechanics were top notch, and the gunplay was unforgiving in the best way possible.

I think there is a number of people who wanted to make decisions in the story themselves, and when our protagonists had the final say, the player found them to be poor choices. You may have loved these characters a lot and found yourself heartbroken over their decision making, but I think that means you never understood who they really were, who they have become, or their internal struggles in the first place.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. To understand the problems of The last of us 2 we need to understand that the last of us 1 gameplay was OK, a decent stealth horror cover shooter that fulfilled the needs but didn't blow anyone away. It was the character and story and how well they were written that made the game so great. A perfect ending helped keep a long lasting impression as one of the best games of all time. It needed no sequel.
But we got one, and unlike the critics tell you, is not a masterpiece worthy of its predecessor. Let's start with the obvious things. The graphics like the last of us 1 for the ps3 are amazing, some of the best this generation, if there is anything naughty dog doesn't fail is graphics. They look as good if not better than Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy even doe some artistic choices can make the game look ugly at times, especially in some character models. But ugly does not mean bad graphics, the detail is there, sometimes it is just not pretty, but that is a artistic choice. Graphics 9/10
Gameplay is more of the same, while it benefits from improved animations, the gameplay as not evolved much from the last of us 1. The cycle of gameplay as remained intact with less puzzles and more combat but almost no improvement in enemy or companion AI. The same frustrating unrealistic actions are still there with enemies ignoring your companions if you are hidden and they are stupid in front of the enemies hiding in front of their imaginary cardboard box. If you liked the original gameplay you will like this one but might find disappointing how little was improved considering the generation leap. 7/10
Sound is great with amazing sound design, good music and great voice acting, even if the script wastes such good voice acting and talent. 9/10
And finally, the most important part of a story driven game, the story. This is the worst story i have ever experienced in a videogame. Don't let fanboys tell you that you think this story is bad because of the sexuality of one of the main characters or because Joel dies. This is just a desperate attempt to throw sand in your eyes. This story is bad because it uses excessive amount of coincidences and stupefying characters to move along. What do i mean? Much of the plot does not occur if characters acted like normal, functional and coherent human beings. And to top it of it ends without any satisfying conclusion for either the player or the main character and betrays the saying of the last of us "When you are lost in the darkness look for the light". There is no light in this game, after it gives you darkness you will never see light. This is not an enjoyable story, but worst it is not a coherent story. There is no brilliant message you are not understanding as some fanboys try to claim, it is just a bad story. i will explain in detail why next Story 4/10
Let's start with Joels death, Joel out of character saves the character Abby from being killed by clickers. Abby and her group coincidentally were looking for Joel to avenger her father that was the doctor that was going to kill Ellie. The evil doctor that decided to kill a child after some hours of analyzing her, that didn't ask for her consent or that didn't think about analyzing for more days to see a way of extracting a cure without killing her and that had already killed more people for cure and failed. She is looking for revenge for that terrible person and the rest of the fireflies that were no good either. How? considering Joel killed all the witnesses in the hospital to avoid being chased by them as Joel says to Marline in the end of 1. How? because it is convenient. Now coincidence, Joel happens to step upon them when they were looking for him and out of character save a bunch of strangers heavily armed. To make it worst they go with them to their hideout where they became vulnerable and trust them enough to give them their names. Anyone who played the first last of us knows Joel would never do that or allow Tommy to do it. Abby ears the name of Joel imitatively shoots him in the leg and starts beating him up with a golf club. The man that just saved her life. No hesitation, no remorse, killing the man she owns her life to. Ellie goes to try and save Joel and through the door sees Joel been beaten up, and instead of shooting immediately, she enters the door allowing herself to be disarmed and subdued. We saw also by one that Ellie would shoot immediately as she did in 1. So we can have a game, Abby and her group don't kill Ellie and Tommy, something we find out later is not coherent with Abby that acts all game as a sociopath killing everyone betraying people and showing no remorse on killing. The game tries to force you to sympathize with Abby and tries to find her a child to replace the Joel and Ellie relationship but it doesn't work. But the worst is the ending. Ellie spares Abby and loses everything while Abby suffers no consequences for her action. You don't get your revenge, your closure, you get no light.

I can only assume that the people rating this game at anything under a 5 havent finished it, or are braindead morons. This game is a masterpiece.

Скучнейшая игра от ААА студии, с деньгами вложенными в безумных количествах, безумными силами и временем. Берегите ваше время и деньги, покупайте хорошие игры. Держитесь подальше от этого продукта.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I finished The Last of Us Part II 3 days ago, and now I find myself feeling confident enough time has passed to truly process my thoughts.
The game is complicated (yet it’s not particularly complex however). I spent the first 29 hrs thinking the game was a revenge story, only to understand that in the last 1hr and 45 minutes, the game is truly about forgiveness - and when it's time to let go of the past and move on.
Firstly, let me talk about the gameplay and the world.
The world once more is emphatically beautiful and profoundly immersive. The combat never ceased to excite me and each different area was alive and rich in a real world setting of an unthinkable disaster. The graphics are the best I’ve seen of any game on the PS4 - so ultimately the best of any game of ever played.
Now, the story. It’s flawed, but as far as I can see, that’s intended.
Ellie changes, massively. The opening scenes with her are the last we see of the sweet, caring young lady she’s growing into. And we see her become a mammoth in murder and repent. But I loved it, and I still care deeply for the character, that will never change.
The switch in characters at first made me angry and I even thought about putting the game down until I cared about Abby - but then i thought, what if i never care about her? And that's when it hit me - you don't. At least not at the beginning. But you learn to enjoy her company (at least I did). I learned to feel great empathy for her chocking to death on a noose, or at the end when she's being crucified and is on the verge of mal-nourishment,
The game often tries to be clever. In particular with a mini boss fight as Abby AGAINST Ellie - yano that character we love unconditionally. It's a cycle of actions and consequences and repercussions. You find yourself not only in the middle of it all, but the case with Ellie, you are the catalyst for the consequential actions. You question the motives and the actions of the characters, yet the game does not allow you to choose to comply or not - you just have to.
That's an extremely difficult concept to adhere to - without your consent. I often did not believe in the actions at first. When Ellie travels across country seeking revenge once more, is it believable? I didn't think so at first.
But lets look at the first game. Joel - he fights, kills and outright murders those against him, and he enjoys it. Then he meets Ellie, and he changes. Moreover, his feelings for Ellie becoming stronger and the reason for his actions changes. The act of saving Ellie at the end of the first game (whether you support the action or not) diminishes any chance the human race has of overcoming this disaster successfully. The needs of the many out-way the needs of the few, yet Joel makes a conscious, morally 'incorrect' decision to support his own bias - the needs of him out-way the needs of everyone else
Abbie does the same when she kills him.
Ellie does the same when she goes after her.
Abbie nearly kills Dina cause Ellie killed Mel (the pregnancy sub-plot wasn't well executed imo).
And finally Ellie goes after Abbie again seeking redemption.
And the conclusion is that revenge is not the answer - and as the flashback to Joel at the end suggests - the arc of the story (as printed above) is forgiveness.
The ending, where Ellie leaves Joel behind (metaphorically shown through the guitar being put down), does not pay off. But i understand the symbolism and I feel it’s successful within the story Naughty Dog have told.
It's complicated (as I said), but not complex. It's not a poetic way of telling a story, be it's certainly effective in showing the player the cost of their actions - and that what you think you want, is not always what you need to heal.
It's not the game I wanted, but it's the game Naughty Dog needed to tell.
It's not perfect, but its a master-class in leaving the player with a profound sense of nothingness, forcing you to lament what you have just witness, and question your own morals.

    Play it.
And if you hate it or love it, that's the correct response.

The gameplay mechanics we're largely untouched, I was hoping for deeper upgrade trees, but the last of us is about story telling, which was done incredibly well. If you can make me hate a character in the beginning, but then flip things to where she feels like the protagonist by the end, that's excellent sorry telling. Expand

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
