This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Game is absolute trash , kill the main character from the first game at the start by making him look stupid , doesn't even give Ellie or Joel a single moment , trailer makes it look like you're gonna be playing with Joel but in reality you just don't even play as him at all.all they did was kill all the males and take a **** on ellie for absolutely no reason. game is a joke and litterally all you do on the first game ends up being for nothing because joel dies and ellie ends up alone anyway. 7 years , not worth the time , money or waiting 7 years for such garbage Expand

The gameplay is dynamic and engaging, with some of the best stealth and melee combat I have ever seen in a game. It is extremely polished and I only encountered 1 or 2 very minor bugs during my entire playthrough. The acting and dialogue is phenominal at times and really makes certain characters stand out.

Never has any form of media challenged me this emotionally. The story is an absolute rollercoaster of emotions from start to finish, containing some of the most heartfelt, most upsetting and most distressing scenarios I have ever experienced. It asks you to re-evaluate your opinions on certain characters a number of times. It explores the idea that in the world of the Last of Us, no character is truly right or wrong, no heroes or villains and that blind revenge will leave make you lose everything.

The narrative structure of the game is extremely ambitious and complex, and may not be for everyone. Even though I personally enjoyed it greatly, I do find the story to have some pacing and structural issues that affect the flow of the game, especially in the latter half of the story.

Another minor issue for me is that I found a few side characters to be under-developed and would have liked a little more back story to make later scenes including them more impactful.

Overall this is a brilliant, unforgettable game and piece of storytelling that will live long in my mind.

The Last of Us 2 is one of the most dearing, gut wrenching, heart pacing stories Naughty Dog has ever created. It has a very fun and satisfying game-play loop, along with making you strategize and think on your approaches to bypass the enemies. In terms of technical and graphic fidelity, Naughty Dog continues to show the gaming industry that they are one of the best developers.

The environments are beautiful and there's enough of a variety to make each enemy encounter and combat scenario different from the last. Some of the areas have multiple levels where you can attack from higher grounds or sneak up on enemies by swimming through tunnels. The soundtrack is haunting and beautiful and matches the themes and tone of the game.

Voice acting and facial animations are incredible achievements and accomplishments, providing a very cinematic experience for the entire game.

Finally, the story - I absolutely loved it. The story and the way it was told made me feel a wide range of emotions and feelings from anger, sadness, joy, sympathy and empathy. I can definitely see why this story wasn't for everyone as the themes are quite dark and we see our favourite characters go through painful journeys, but that's how life is sometimes - unfair, painful, and tragic.

Thank you Naughty Dog and I can't wait for your next project.

I have no problem with ellie being a lesbian, for me, the bad thing is that the story is simply absurd, Ellie's behavior does not make sense and she only does all the necessary actions to turn bad, contradicting herself every two seconds and the other story is bad, if they had written everything in a note it would have been more interesting, as an interesting detail

I think the low rating is related to the extremely high expectations from this sequel. If you leave the story aspect aside, which is indeed the weakest aspect here, then as a stand-alone game it is quite good. It is almost the same gameplay as in the previous one with some improvements, so if you liked the first you should be good with this one as well. It is almost the same gameplay as in the previous one with some improvements, so if you liked the first you should be good with this one as well. The problem in the gameplay, however, is that it does get repetitive after a while. And since this game is longer than the previous, at some point it does get tedious.
    So,
Graphics - 10/10 - The game looks amazing as you could expect, the animations both in the cut scenes and the in-game are great.

Sound - 10/10 - Great ambient sounds which gets you into the atmosphere, weapon shots and reloads sound amazing.

Voice Acting 10/10 - As you expect from Naughty Dog, always deliver a perfect voice acting, all voice talents did an amazing job here.

Soundtrack - 10/10 - Music which gets you into the atmosphere perfectly.

Gameplay - 8/10 - Enjoyable, a bit improved from the previous game, but gets repetitive after about 70% of the game.

Story - 3/10 - Well, it is bad. Really really bad. Not only it is not interesting, especially the second half of the game, some of the character's choices which affect the story, does not make to much sense.

Overall I really enjoyed this game, but was very disappointed from the story.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. ¡spoilers! ¡spoilers! ¡spoilers! no matter what it shows in the game, no violence or things like Lesvianism. etc. what matters is the story, we start. the setting of the game is incredible, its settings are a masterpiece. although the story does not go according to the first game is very good and works very well. The gameplay is incredible according to playable mechanics, the new ability to lie down and be able to camouflage itself with the environment is very good, in fact I can say that the gameplay mechanics of 2 are better than those of 1. Now I am going to play the controversial part of the game. We already know that Abby killed Joel and that later we have to play with her until the part of the theater where we, being Abby, beat Ellie. after this event ellie looks for more revenge against abby and goes to her location where he finds her kidnapped, he raids her with lev and we start to play the final battle. abby was physically very ill and she couldn't beat ellie and she starts to drown her. when abby was about to die ellie has compassion and sets her free and abby can escape with lev, afterwards ellie comes home without 2 fingers and couldn't find dinna. ellie did not kill abby because she remembered that abby forgave twice (ellie and dinna) and ellie needed to forgive abby a second time, I also forgive her because revenge is like a vicious circle that if we do not give him an end we will not it's over. the last of us part 2 as opposed to 1 teaches us that revenge is not good and that we should forgive people who once hurt us. Before finishing I want to say that it is a great video game and that it is very worthwhile. Expand

Surprises by the many deaths in the game? Not really. I'm an avid reader and I'm used to twist and turns. I was surprised to see this kind of story in a video game though. I loved it and it felt real. At the end of the day the universe doesn't give a **** about your heroics. It did hurt though.

Gameplay was topnotch. Didn't feel bad for the dogs or any of the NPC's though. They are just game mechanics to me. Felt bad about the things that happened to the main cast and wee Alice though.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I never write reviews, even if it is a game that I thoroughly enjoyed. However, I feel extremely compelled to do so because of all the backlash and negative reviews this game has received from its users.

You cannot walk into this game with a closed mindset, expecting it to be an exact copy of its predecessor, where you will play as Joel and Ellie, taking on the war torn and post-apocalyptic America. In-fact, what makes this game stand out is that it is so different from its predecessor and forces you to face the ethical problems that unraveled as a result of Joel's decisions in the end of the first game. Joel's decision to murder the lead surgeon developing a cure and many other Firefly soldiers leaves no hope for a cure, or resolution to the plot that carried much of the motives for the first game. How would other people expect the story to continue with Joel and Ellie again? pursuing the same objective once again? Going after a character for revenge together? There is no possibility for this, and it would just be a repeat of events from the first game. Naughty Dog instead chose to take the game in a different direction, killing one of the main characters right off the bat to fill you with anger and a thirst for revenge. You spend the first 10 hours of the game weaving through corrupt soldiers, killing those responsible for the actions of Joel's death until you finally unravel the reason behind it: Joel ruined all hope for a cure, and people are ANGRY.

It is a tough pill to swallow. You have to look at the choices from a different perspective. One that is not just Joel and Ellie, which is what the entirety of the first game was built on. This shifts even harder when the game throws you into the shoes of Joel's murderer, Abby. However, the back story that is built on Abby only showcases her motives for murdering Joel, and why she was so desperate for revenge. You then start to see Joel's motives for what they truly are, and how they affected other people than just himself and Ellie. Abby's story then further dives into her own issues, dealing with her love with Owen and her strained relationship with Mel. She then becomes a bigger sister figure to Lev, who is struggling to find his true identity. Along the way, Abby discovered the WLF for who they truly are and how she has lost her way. However, through all this loss that Abby has endured, she is further damaged by Ellie's reckless actions fueled by a thirst for revenge over Joels death.

Ellie can never truly forgive herself for not repairing her relationship with Joel sooner, and what really hurts her is that she understands the motives that resulted in his death. Thus, she seeks justice to try and heal that damage until she finds out that it is not going to fix her problems.

I think it's somewhat justified that some users are very upset by this game. It is NOT a typical sequel to a video game, and I really believe that is why I like it so much. The Last of Us Part II truly forces the player to stomach their characters decisions and live through the game in an entirely different perspective. If I said the first game didn't leave a sour taste in my mouth at the end, I would be lying. This is a perfect sequel as it makes you consider if what Joel did was right, or wrong, and lets you live out the consequences of his actions. HOWEVER, I do NOT agree that the story is bad. The story is very progressive and evolves further and further as time goes on. It is important to remember, there are NO happy endings in a world so chaotic and lost. Joel and Ellie will not live happily ever after. Ellie won't kill Abby and then everything will be fine. It is not a giant circle singing kumbaya.

Instead, it is dark and twisted and evolving around every corner. There is love. There is loss. And at the end it left me feeling complete. Like a proper ending to a series that is so close and dear to my heart. We truly get to see the outcome of Joel's decisions from the first game and how it has affected the world. I applaud Naughty Dog for crafting something so beautiful and something so RAW that really shakes players to their core. If this game did not move you at any part of its story, I encourage you to give it another try with an open mind. Really look at the characters for who they are and try to see their perspective.

Great job Naughty Dog, you knocked this one out of the park. I will definitely be playing it again.

Yes this game is the most polarizing game but it didn't sucked. Gameplay is superb and the graphics are amazing as well. After completing the game I felt empty like there's a question in my head "was the story great or was it a disappointment"? I am feeling like this wasn't a good story nor a bad story but it was tragic not the way people wanted. It was emotional. Some are just blindly judging the game based on the leaks and some just don't care about anything. I saw the leaks and the full experience was worth. Joel's death was really tragic and sad but I still enjoyed the game. All these negative comments are just not justifiable. Most of the negative reviews are from those who didn't even played the game yet review bombing it. I don't know what else to say it's just I'm feeling empty. Please naughty dog ignore the hate you guys are amazing and you know that. You have shown your qualities before and you will show it again. All the intimate details of violence make you question what you’re doing. You’re not Joel, as much as you try. And I think it’s clear that Joel wouldn’t want you to be like him. The first main plot point to happen is inevitable but heartbreaking all the same. And it just. keeps. going. +1 for Lev, the new Ellie. Because old Ellie is dead. The first portion of the game is presented for you to feel angry and vengeful just like Ellie, but by the time you finish, you realize just how terribly similar both Ellie and Abby are. Their need for revenge costs them not only their mental health, but the lives and happiness of their loved ones. This goes hand in hand with establishing the fact that the world isn't all about Joel and Ellie and their actions have huge consequences. By the time the final fight started, I just wanted both characters to not hurt one another anymore.

I think my only complaint with this game is the strange pacing for the last few hours. It wasn’t inherently bad. I just thought It was ending and it WASN’T. In hindsight, I’m glad it had you press on with Ellie who was just relentless, desperate, and lost, and I don’t know how it could have even been done differently. I probably would have taken a break in the middle had I’d known somehow, tho.

Overall, this game was amazing. It’s the next day and I just can’t stop thinking about it. It’s been a long time since a video game has affected me this way. Loved it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After completing the game, i must say this game is in no way a perfect game, a 10/10, it also isn’t a 0/10, I give this game a 6/10 and here is how I see it:

Graphics 10/10: this game gorgeous, nothing more to say

Story: 6/10: this is one of the main problems for me, the story is good, but is not unique like in TLOUS 1, (in than game it was Ellie’s story, no one else could become the cure but her). On part two they made a 25+ hour story about revenge. Now revenge stories can be really good if done right, but on this game it just feels like something is missing, it feels hollow.

Again, comparing it to its predecessor, TLOUS 1 gave us a story than was a lot richer and in half the time. After finishing the first game, the story left me thinking about what i would have done in that situation, even though the game didn’t give you a choice i felt the weight of the decision and keep me thinking about it after finishing it. On TLOUS part 2, after finishing it 25+ hours, it felt like any other game. Thinking it over, imagine if ND gave us a choice, at the end, after showing us the two sides of the story, we as the player get to decide to (TO DO or NOT TO DO).

Gameplay 6/10: Yes, The Last of Us Part 2 improves on the gameplay of its predecessor but that’s not saying much, since it feels very limited and dull as the time progresses. It feels like the gameplay could have been a lot more, or maybe the game could have used other sections like more puzzles or mini-games to change the pace.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I will start off my review by saying that I had very high expectations from a sequel to one of the best games of all time. The Last of Us is a harrowing story about loss set in a post apocalyptic world and it was the work of wonderful people like Amy Henning and Bruce Straley. The fact that they did not return and that Amy was forced out of the company already should've rung alarm bells for everyone. But despite that, i took my chance.

    And was utterly disappointed.

Let me start off by listing the few positives of this game. The combat has improved, and the world looks beautiful and immersive, which is fair game and expected from the developer of Unchartered 4. That's the only reason it gets 2 stars from me.

But the story. My God, the story is a dumpster fire. It's like someone wrote down words from excrement and plastered it into the script.

The whole point is, the story itself has so many loopholes with little logic and the characters act so out of tone with what they are and have been established as in the first game that it can only be tantamount to lazy writing.

Take Joel's death, that meetup with Abby does not even feel organic (it's a random hit in with runners). Next, the fact that Joel saves Abby from runners and still is brutally tortured to death by her with utter disregard for saving her life completely throws one off completely. It's like the writer chose shock value over basic common sense to kill Joel off in the first 2 hours of the game!

In the first game, Joel could tell someone was faking help and was extremely wary. How does Neil Druckman expect us to believe Joel would go out of character and just lower his guard and walk into a room armed full of people from another country and tell them his own identity? The man was wanted over the country for his massacre of the Fireflies and Naughty Dog expects us to forget that? Also, how could Abby ascertain this was the only Joel they were looking for?

The plot holes are as big as quantum singularities aka blackholes and it's not even the beginning.

After shamelessly killing off one of video games most beloved character in such a disgusting fashion (the golf memes are on point), Neil Druckman forces us to step into the shoes of the killer, Abby, and tries to force feed us "the other side" from her perspective. To further add salt to our wounds, a self insert of Druckman spits on Joel's body and hurls abuses at him. I understand you had to let Joel off, but atleast do it in a respectable way! Like some self sacrifice that was how it was done by Rockstar brilliantly in Red Dead Redemption or Arthur Morgan in RDR 2.

The game also retcons Joel's decision and tries to show us he was wrong, when in the first game even the Fireflies knew that all previous attempts at creating a vaccine using live test subjects had failed. And it tries to literally show to us that Joel was the villain, when in effect he was a man who did not want to lose another daughter to a slim chance.

Let's move on, Ellie then goes on a revenge quest, and massacres a huge number of folk along the way. The vast majority of the game displays us this gore and violence over and over again that it becomes numbing and nauseating. The game is bleak just cause it wants to show it is bleak and not because there is some method to madness or grand design. It doesn't gasp for air at all save in momentary flashbacks.

The player visibly feels enraged and wants Joel to be avenged by partaking in this violence through Ellie but then in the very end, Neil Druckman completely forces us to accept the one choice of NOT KILLING ABBY all in the name of "cycle of revenge is bad". The fact that this was so badly done and ham fisted is what has enraged folks rightly.

The fact that Red Dead Redemption 2 and God of War did themes on revenge better than the Last of Us is utterly shocking and disappointing. At least Naughty Dog should have let the player take the choice of killing Abby or not but the fact they force fed us this hogwash is what has drawn fans of the game into righteous rage. What was the whole point of revenge and showing violence if it was all bad? That whole spell of violence Ellie does is rendered useless in a single epiphany. Ellie loses everything and gains nothing, rather than projecting violence and revenge is bad, the game actually ends up making a strong case for it!

This ending and the way the game pans out really what has driven fans on the edge. This is worse than GoT season 8 and Star wars. The reaction is justified and Neil Druckman will be called out and face a backlash for this dumpster fire of a video game.

In the first Last of Us, Ellie tells us the her fear was to end up left alone. The game ends on this note, her fingers bitten off in the final fight with Abby, her partner Dina has left her, her protector Joel is dead. It was, to quote the first game "really all for nothing".

People rushed on to Metacritic after hearing bad reviews to join in after there was outcry from what happened in the first 2 hours. Put your big boy pants on and play the whole game, then form your own opinion. If it's still negative, fair enough, but a lot of the bad reviews are from the day it came out, and it shows, because as the days go by the number of positive reviews keep going up, from people who obviously did play the game the whole way through and were rewarded with an incredibly rich and emotional story. The early negative review bombers obviously didn't play the 30 hr game in the first few hours of it coming out.

My thoughts on some major backlash points:

    Joel:
You knew that would happen to Joel sooner or later, it's the natural turn of events. His past was going to catch up with him, otherwise what was the point of having Joel save Ellie be very morally grey at the end of P1? There would be no point at all if he got away with it. The whole story from the first minute of P1 all the way through to the final moments of P2 flow wonderfully well. I'm sure Naughty Dog aren't finished either, and will come back with an equally impressive P3.

    Character continuity:
I've seen people say that they think the characters are too different from P1 (i.e. Joel 'trusting' Abby, Ellie changed), but what those people fail to realise is this: people do change. And this has been accelerated by the fact that they now have semblance of a relatively normal and happy life in Jackson. It's been years since Ellie and Joel were travelling across the States, they're in a stable setting now. Of course they're going to change. Joel undoubtedly becomes more trusting of people since having Ellie to love as a daughter figure, and being surrounded by regular people who are not a threat
As for Ellie, her sudden coldness and change of character (to the player) is a result of the extreme emotional turmoil she faces from two angles: one is the aftermath of what happened at the hospital, and Joel's eventual telling of the truth. This is gradual, and we as the player don't see it immediately (it's more slowly built on as the root of the friction their relationship have been enduring, and even goes way back to the last frame of P1 when it's left ambiguous as to whether or not Ellie believes Joel). In the final flashback, we see Ellie willing to try and forgive Joel for it, but tragically, it never happens. That feeds into:
the second angle from which her change of character comes from. Joel's sudden you-know-what hits Ellie like a truck on fire filled with bricks. Their relationship was just beginning to be on the mend, and Ellie knew she had been a dick to Joel for a while, but she never really realises it until the night before. This is evident from the dance when Joel gets involved in the whole Seth being a bigot thing, and Ellie pushes him away for trying to protect her. She says some pretty hurtful stuff to Joel, and you can see her regret it immediately after, and that crushing regret resonates all throughout the game. It's heartbreaking, but this is what loss does to someone. Ellie becomes almost unrecognisable - while she was sort of naive from growing up in the QZ and not unnecessarily violent in P1, she is the complete opposite now. She tortures her enemies for information, she's unable to let her rage go and she kills others without batting an eye. This is so new for us, we last saw Ellie whipping out her joke book, making sweet conversation with Joel. It gut-wrenchingly tells us the sheer impact it had on her, and we also see it when even Ellie herself is shocked at her uncharacteristic behaviour after torturing a certain someone for information, and killing a pregnant woman in cold blood. There is profound regret there too, especially the latter, but she never feels that until its too late.
I'm honestly surprised people expect Ellie to be the same person she was when she was 14.

    Letting Abby go:
Ellie's redemption comes at the very end when she lets Abby go in an unbelievably poignant and profound moment of tender realisation, but then learns the ultimate lesson when she returns to the farm to find that her family has left. Ellie was unable to choose her family over her guilt, regret and anger. I think that is really powerful. I think what people fail to realise about the significance of letting Abby go, is that Ellie has not forgiven her in the slightest. And when Abby spared Ellie & Dina earlier, it wasn't out of forgiveness either. It was for the other people in their lives. What started as a story of revenge changes - by the end neither of them get that, because by the time the credits roll it's morphed into something else entirely.

I thought TLOU2 was, simply put, incredible and brave.

Expand

This is one of the most disappointing games of this year. The story sucks, (most of) the new characters suck, the old characters seem almost completely different to what the first game established and the game drags way to hard. The game does get a lot right however: Its beautiful, the art direction is fenominal, the animation is amazing, it's the peak of visuals this console generation and there isn't a single issue there. Regardless of bad writing all the voice acting is superb. The gameplay in the first 14 hours (i played on hard, time of play can scale depending on difficulty) is amazing, there was enough changed made to the gameplay loop in my opinion to make it feel fresh after the first game. However after the midway mark the game really starts to drag and the gameplay starts to get repetitive, so the obvious solution here would be to tie up the game with one last final boss? or a last giant combat zone like the first game? NOPE! Instead why don't you start all over again as a new character with no upgrades or gear. Oh and that second section really killed the enjoyment for me, they really try to make you care about a character that you don't like (spoiler, they fail at making you like her) and her gameplay sections are boring (with the ONE exception of the skyscraper rooftop section, that was fun) which kills since you have to play 14 more hours of this. Oh and the ending! Its terrible! The entire game was for nothing! At the end of the first game you felt like you went on this giant adventure and that the charterers had made some huge consequential decisions! Whereas the last of us 2 feel's like you took the start of the game, deleted a few charecters, deleted a few fingers and then for like 5 minuets added a baby! NOTHING HAPPEN'S!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh and don't even get me started on the plot armour! They try to mimic Joel's injury from the first game with Ellie near the end. In TLOU1 Joel's injury was used to drive the story, it showed how much Ellie cared for him and how desperate she was to save him which built up their characters immensely! In TLOU2 its used as an excuse for Ellie to stumble and complain in a few sections. This is one of many examples that shows nothing matters in the last of us 2.

(Quick note: i haven't touched on any LGBT+ material from the game, personally i had no issue with it and i don't believe it had any effect on my opinion of the game or the story. I just though id let you know)

Playing as both the protagonist and antagonist is a very brave concept that Naughty Dog must be commended for. The story takes a second play through to truly understand and justify itself and is definitely not for people who don't believe in giving video games that much breathing space, which is totally understandable too, each on to it's own. After all that's said about the form of narrative, the gameplay mechanics remain faithful to the original, while every aspect is enhanced. The sound design and atmospheric tension is extraordinary, and I don't think any game comes close to what the ambiance achieves with its horror and survival elements. The graphics is 'next gen' so say the least. The colour palette is fresh and is worthy of immense artistic merit. The lighting is incredibly rendered, with this being on par with extraordinary games like Red Dead Redemption II and Control. To conclude with, it's only a moment of time before the true feelings of the game is acknowledged and the preliminary hate goes away. This is a masterpiece. Definitely Game of The Year Contention. I still find it hard to believe how naughty dog managed to create such a horrible sequel to the game of the decade LOU2 is THE WORST game of 2020 and the worst ever created by naughty dog. The gameplay is very good but the fact there is more walking around and exploring than fighting made the game a bit boring. Having to play 10 HOURS with Abby was just a stupid way of forcing the players to like her and feel bad for her past (which is something I don’t care about one bit) . The story is very disappointing from joel’s death in the first few hours of the game to the horrible ending we got this game is ridiculously BAD. The only thing I liked was the variety of weapons and style of killing between Abby and Ellie. The only way naughty dog can fix this piece of trash game is by releasing last of us 3 but actually with more focus to the MAIN CHARACTER WHICH IS ELLIE. Expand

A complete travesty of something that could have been absolutely brilliant. Naughty dog literally spits on their own fanbase. Hands down the worst sequel in the history of gaming thanks to fake advertising and horrendous storytelling.#howtokillafranchise

The fact that I have waited seven years for the sequel and this is the trash Naughty Dog put out is horrible. Joel is one of the best video game characters ever and that is how it ends for him!!!! The story line is absolutely horrible. The jumping around, the fact you have to play as Abby. The fact Joel is KILLED off in the first hours of the game and you don't get to play as him. I could go on but I have already wasted enough of my life on this game.... Probably wont buy another Naughty Dog product. Speaking of Dogs, why do you kill some many in this game???? Naughty Dog you suck! Expand

This game is incomparable, for the first time I see that the developers erase the line between the antagonist and protagonist. About the gameplay and graphics, I will stutter 10/10 for the efforts of Naughty Dog.

Amazing story telling experience. Insane Gameplay.
A game the let you meditate on the story and not to take it simply as it is.
Short gaming sessions are perfect for the game

As for a review, the most succinct thing I can say is that I did not have fun in this game, but I did think it was fantastic. Much like a movie like The Road or Schindler’s List, the story isn’t meant to be fun, it’s meant to tell a good tale.

I did not always trust the characters to do the right thing, I did not always like what the story was doing until I later experienced what it was they were driving toward, and I certainly came away thinking this was one of the top two games I’ve ever played. Mechanics, storytelling, and character building are all improved upon from their states in the original The Last of Us.

This game is an ugly, gritty, heart wrenching masterpiece.

I played and finished TLOS so many times more than i can remember , the only thing i have remember is that i played all the difficulty
mode from normal to grounded on the ps3 , plus the ps4 experience finished 2 times

so you can tell how much i loved TLOS , i didn't get bored to play the story all over again and live the experience so many times.

so I preord part2 to see Joel and Ellie once again and their story

Finished part 2 in 7 days (3 hours or close of play in 1 day)

...what a disappointement ! i never thought Neil will make the story here this worse i still don't believe it

what Joel did was right , why you have to punish him for what he did ! that's unacceptable

also Ellie personality has changed here she was a piece of **** towards Joel

i didn't like the new character and her revenge crew ,
who came up with this idea of killing joel and i have to play as joel killer to understand why she did it !! one thousand NO

The sequel was bad very bad , it will hurt your soul

all you have to do here now is to suffer and cry the rest of the game ,

also Ellie is your enemy as Joel killer ! you have to beat her down! that's nice very nice :(

in the end joel killer survived and Ellie didn't get her revenge after killing the whole world to get to Joel killer !

    what a garbage sequel

anyway I'm giving this game a 4 because here its all about the story

everything else was fantastic or at least acceptable

and i don't care about Naughty dog anymore from now on.

People always say that people only like it since lev is trans and Ellie is gay but I think those make the game a bit worse. The beginning of the game seems like Ellie’s sexuality is to important. If she wasn’t having sex with Ellie then she might of met Joel Earlier and saved him from dieing. The soundtrack of the game doesn’t have the most good songs but has some awesome songs. Ellie singing take on me is by far one of the best covers ever in a video game. Also Joel singing future days is really beautiful. The ending is what people are always nit picking and hating on but you just have to understand what it means. Ellie spared Abby because she realized that killing Abby wouldn’t bring Joel back alive. Ellie decided to let Abby live to give lev the life Joel gave her. People also say that the whole Abby section was just a waste of time. It is kinda but not really. It shows us why Abby killed Joel since he killed her dad. The Abby section was to make us see her point of view. I’m not saying you have to love Abby and want Ellie to die because I still think Ellie is better but you should at least see that she actually has a kinda nice side to her. All she was trying to find closure for her dads death by helping lev and yara. Some things that are bad in the game are Tommy and Maria’s relationship should be more important I think in the game because even in the first game Tommy didn’t seem important. I didn’t like that you have to play as Abby while she fights Ellie because every video I see on the Ellie boss fight starts off as the person dieing on purpose. Another thing I didn’t like about tlou2 is since Ellie lost her fingers at the end of the game she can’t play the guitar. That means that most likely the guitar will be a one game thing. Also the guitar is a sign of Joel. I did like how the game started and ending with the guitar but the guitar is a sign of Joel and since Ellie can’t play it we won’t see it again. I did like how Ellie did lay the guitar down to show that she is letting Joel go to rest in her mind. TLOU2 does have some flaws that I can see but the greatness does out way the poor things. Expand

The Last of Us Part II is visually beautiful and plays more or less like its predecessor. Unfortunately it stumbles when it comes to execution of themes and story. In an attempt to demonstrate the consequences of actions, the game ultimately wastes the characters we came to love in the previous game.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
