    Never have I been this disappointed in a sequel, game or movie. Whether it be the terrible working conditions at ND, the bogus widespread DMCA claims of commentators, the forced token pandering story elements, the overplayed 'unexpected therefore amazing' story direction like the Last Jedi, or the generally just plain boring game play; this game has plenty of reasons to avoid it. The story has nothing rewarding about it and is just plain depressing and baffling.

    Good engine and good graphics. I loved the story. I made a 180 spin. First I hated Abby but in the end I understood why she does what she does.

I felt the game was manipulative and is designed for you to like Abby and just left all of our beloved characters from the first game dead or broken. Despite all these, the gameplay was really good and AI was outstanding. A lot of effort was put into the details of graphics. Would have given it a 10 if only they made more of what fans waited 7 years for, more of Ellie and Joel. The ending leaves a bad taste and felt unfulfilling.… Expand

    With the original, The Last of Us gameplay mechanics were simple, easy and unique. But combat with the different creatures and humans seemed repetitive once further in the game.
    With Part II, Naughty Dog improved greatly on gameplay for the player. Survival horror was revived with the first game and now is remastered and improved with Part II.

    With having creatures that can’t be heard and that are faster and harder to go against from what you were used to. And also humans having difficulty strategy due to which group they are apart of.
    For a gameplay perspective, it’s better than the first in many ways.
    Story-wise, I can see where the team was going with this approach, and I can’t say that it fully worked for me though. I will commend them for being different and having us play from perspectives. But the way the game was edited and pasted made it not only a little confusing at certain points but made the player forced to finish the game with them not wanting to.
    Many are frustrated due to leaks and deaths, but The Last of Us Part II is not just a story, but still a video game with that.
    It isn’t correct to hate a game for its leaks and delays, you are at fault for looking into them and spoiling for yourself. But it isn’t your fault that you didn’t agree with how they approach this sequel. Maybe this isn’t what you wanted this game to be, but what the creators needed it to be for the players.    … Expand

    I really like this game, starting from the gameplay, graphics, music, characters, emotion, and a very tense story that makes the heart feel sad and happy. I hope the last of us 3 comes too.

    The game itself was amazing! Between the graphics, attention to detail, and controls. Job well done! I get the story and understand Abby's want for revenge. My only issue about the story is how Joel is played out as some horrible man who selfishly took Abby's dad and prevented the potential for a vaccine. A man who, selfish or not, prevented the fireflies from killing Ellie withoutThe game itself was amazing! Between the graphics, attention to detail, and controls. Job well done! I get the story and understand Abby's want for revenge. No farewells to the guy who just went through hell to get her there. And there's Ellie. A girl who tried so hard to build a relationship with Joel despite his efforts to keep it strictly professional. She slowly won him over. Even ran off and made a huge scene when Joel got Tommy to agree to take her. Made him guilty that he was abandoning her and didn't care. Refused his offer to turn around. Said they could go wherever he wanted afterwards. Showed no signs of wanting to die. She won his heart, someone was going to just end her life without any say, and she hates him for it? That's brutal. I understand Abby's anger because it was her father, but she gave her blessing to her dad when he couldn't answer the question if he could decide that for his own daughter. This is a story justifying their revenge and trying to convince you that they're better. All while discrediting the actual good that Joel did. If their actions are justified because Ellie would've agreed, why couldn't they wait one damn day to sit down with Joel and Ellie to discuss this? You know, instead of deciding her fate like it's ok because it's for the "greater good" Based off the responses from the new Abby fans, this game has taught me that if an outbreak like this ever happened and you find out you're immune, don't tell anyone if you want to live. Too many people are ok with killing you without say to save their own life.… Expand

    Don’t believe the babies crying about this game. It’s a supremely moving, as well as harrowing, piece of art. It grapples with the themes and messages it sets out to with a confidence and capability that I’ve never seen in a video game. Utterly masterful and bleak in a way that fits perfectly with the historical moment we’re living in. Playing this game felt like watching one of myDon’t believe the babies crying about this game. It’s a supremely moving, as well as harrowing, piece of art. It grapples with the themes and messages it sets out to with a confidence and capability that I’ve never seen in a video game.     The narrative for this game is just a mess. Tells a tale of two people who sought revenge. One of them seems to have no issues with it and is perfectly fine emotionally. The other one develops ptsd and shows clear emotion. Game makes it way too obvious it wants you to like one character and not the other.

    Good combat and graphics though.

    You have to play all of it and go into this game with an open mind. Amazing storytelling, amazing character development and nothing we've ever emotionally experienced in gaming before. No-one said this would be a happy ending. It may not be the game most people wanted but it may just be the game we needed.

Abby literally only hears Joel and immediately kills him without knowing if thats actually the Joel she is after. There are thousands of people named Joel lmfaoo. Second of all She didn't hesitate to kill the guy who saved her. She didn't regret it. To us she didn't lose crap. Cuz her friends weren't fleshed out like that we didn't care if they died, a well written villain that you want us to sympathize with would have spent some time with Joel and have some internal conflicts after she hears his name and questions herself if this is the actual Joel she is looking for. If naughty dog really want us to relate to abby they would make us play as her at first and us as players would be like woah whose this? how is she connected to the story? Its lazy writing because all they had to do is switch up some events and flashbacks to make us fall for abby but their execution was horrible. I was never spoiled on this game I was clueless about the leaks. And I came to the game very open minded. honestly I don't mind if they killed Joel it was gonna happen sooner or later. Third of all naughty dog really made us kill that doctor that keep in mind didn't want Joel or Ellie to know to at least give them a choice of giving up Ellie . Fourth of all they could have easily avoided backlash if they at least gave us an option to kill abby at the very end. Fifth of all why does Ellie go back for revenge after losing soo many things and people to only not get the person who was responsible?, and she had a very beautiful home with Dina , even pre-apocalyptic times people would kill for that .Sixth of all there was just soo much death in this game that we as the players grew numb and didn't even care about them...pure shock value. like everyone died in vain and we didn't have time to take in how jessie died til we played as abby for freaking 10 hours during the climax of the game. Abby gets everything but Ellie is left with basically nothing and cant even enjoy the guitar? Seventh of all the characters have zero things that made them who they were in the first game, trusting some people when Joel taught Ellie not to, just to tell them his name and place without even asking them who they were? and Ellie not picking up that ps vita is fishy as hell cuz she loved games. okay and some other things that pissed me off was the smex scene. like dude Im a perv and I love strong women but that was so unexpected and unnecessary to the actual plot and making us sympathize with her. Ellie forgiving abby before she even forgave Joel for keeping her alive is bull crap when she don't even know if it were to work. And Tommy calling ellie a coward after he is nearly killed makes no sense. He would have let her know that he found out where abby was but wouldn't forced that since he and Joel wouldn't want her to risk her life AGAIN!!! because they care about her. The plot is poorly written and they try to hide behind the lgbtq+ community. When its not about that because we definitely loved left behind when we first found out she was gay. OVERALL their execution of a revenge story without the revenge was horrible since they prove everything they did in the game and the countless people they killed was pointless. Ellie killing hundreds of people(may include early pregnant women, fathers, innocent people that just joined the frontline) to feel bad AT THE VERY LAST SECOND about the one person that caused her misery and was actually guilty… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As someone who actually played and finished the game (busy with + mode now), I really loved Part 2. The big event at the beginning was spoiled for me, but I kept hope alive that it was out of context. As many others, I was sad, angry, and disappointed that it happened, but I understand that this is the world they live in. It’s not a happy ending type of world. The second half of the game was not spoiled for me, and so I was shocked to see the character who features. I felt weird playing as Abby, but I could understand her perspective. The game made me do things I did not want to which, in the moment, I did not like, but I understood why ND placed that on the player. The two confrontations presented me with so much internal turmoil, and I didn’t want to align with the characters. The open-ended ending makes me hopeful that a third installment will be on the way. There was so much to digest and I wanted to experience the game again. As of this post, I am on day 2 in Seattle with Ellie. I love the world and characters of TLOU.… Expand

Понятно было что ему за это будут мстить и тут нам это и показывают. Ещё читал претензии что Эбби не раскрыта, в корне не согласен, она перерождается из «полной мрази, которая жестко убила главного героя» в человека, которому сопереживаешь едва ли не больше, чем Элли. Мне было очень интересно пройти путь и за Элли и за Эбби и увидеть их жизни и переживания с разных сторон. Эта одна из лучших игр, в которые я играл.… Expand

The gameplay has not undergone major changes, because it did not need them, and those small innovations that were added in the second part suddenly turned out to be very useful to the place. The ability to jump and crawl more than expected would diversify the battle, and zombies have become more dangerous and interesting.
    The second part received the level of graphics and direction that she deserved. All your favorite characters, locations, zombies, even spores seemed to come to life. The feeling that in the first part I saw everything through dusty glasses, and only having started playing the second part, I finally took them off. As far as I can see, this is a problem not only of this game, but of the gaming industry in general recently. The developers are trying to stretch the timing of the game intentionally to make it more voluminous, but at the same time not having enough resources to work out the entire content in detail, because of this, frankly boring and of the same type sometimes appear. In my opinion, the game would only win if the number of hours required to complete it would be slightly less. At the same time, in addition to several levels with repeated battles, most of the game locations are made perfectly. They are diverse, atmospheric and memorable.
    The game is great. And above all, this concerns the disclosure of the characters and the complexity of moral issues that are posed not only to the heroes of the game, but also to the player. The plot of the second part is more complex and not as straightforward as in the original, and therefore its perception strongly depends on who perceives, that is, on the player.     Long time fan of the original, and this was everything I wanted out of the sequel. The gameplay has some minor polishes and some majorly fun new levels and one of the most horrifying bosses I've ever played, old and new characters well developed, and a story that challenges. I bsee why some didn't like it, but I think it was beautifully executed.

First you spent wayyyyy to much time playing as Abby, who honestly was just boring. So you have this boring character and you try to have a separate story line? Yawn. Add to the fact that it was predictable. Knew Ellie was gonna save her at the end. Then when they fight And I was like cool this is somewhat redeeming. Nope she lets her go. Lame, just lame.… Expand

    As pessoas falam mal dele por conta da morte do Joel, mas quem jogou de verdade, deve conhecer o outro lado da história (Abby).
    A Gameplay é muito bom, sensação boa de atirar e matar os npcs do mapa. Por falar deles, a IA é incrivel e todas as interações que eles fazem com o cenário são únicas. Os gráficos são surreais mesmo pra uma plataforma com resolução tão limitada!    … Expand

The world emerges and expands much much bigger than the first game but it causes to lose the strands that ties the story at some parts. The acting is unshakably strong and polished thanks to the brilliant developers, the precious Ashley Johnson, Troy Baker, Laura Bailey, all the executives and the director and co-writer of the game; Neil Druckmann and all the team made this possible working at Naughty Dog.     Graphics and gameplay are fantastic and lot better than part 1. While story is not for everyone.they could have used red dead redemption approach which would please lot of people but they didn't. They took a new and authentic approach. Which was very realistic and relatable. I didn't liked TLOU1 but I knew that TLOU2 would be different and unique (in good way).

    This game is simply out of this world, the way that it makes you feel, the amount of thought that you give to the game, the amount of emotions that makes you transmit the conversations that sparks after playing and its gameplay, ambiance and innovative enemy elements is out of this world.
    No other game ever did the commotion that this one did.
    It's a wonderful game and my top 1 game for sure.

I would've probably been swayed to feel a different way if I had engaged with the hysteria. I was expecting it to be clear to me why people were raging so hard, but throughout the game I couldn't figure out what it was.
    Graphics and sound in this game is just mind blowing.
    The storytelling methods and production value is unmatched and groundbreaking, whether you like the plot or not, which I did.
    They did some bold things with some of the story which in the end turned out really powerful in my opinion.
    The gameplay is slightly above average with no new innovations, which is standard Naughty Dog, but that's not why you play their games.
    Basically I got exactly what I expected from a last of us sequel and I had a gaming experience that I will remember for a long time.    … Expand

But now we fast forward 5 years later and he's willing to go into a basement with strangers. Why? Because he was living in Jackson and became "soft"?     This game really touched me deeply. I had to think about it a lot. I don't understand why so many people are not happy with it, because I like the story and the message behind. And even if you don't like the story it's definitely not 0/0, because it looks and sounds so amazing. For me The Last of Us Part II is a masterpiece.

    Just finished the game earlier today. While the game has some compelling moments and is beautifully rendered I felt the developers failed to find a good balance between storytelling and gameplay. Its seemed to fall into the horror film trope of people constantly making bad decisions. There were parts where I was questioning why my character was doing what they were doing, why I am hereJust finished the game earlier today. There were parts where I was questioning why my character was doing what they were doing, why I am here endlessly killing. I loved the first half however, the the second half had me much less interested. Then again the final couple of levels just had me wondering why the hell I was there. The story failed to convince and fully engage me, and the ending just left me feeling empty.

    It always looks amazing but even then the very clear 'gaming' rules and an environment where your interaction is controlled and mostly linear it also felt quite old-fashioned at times. There is a ten foot wall in front of me but I can't climb it because it has leaves on it, instead I have to go do several things to enable me to traverse it.

    And it was very much an extension of the first game, if you haven't played the first I couldn't see how you would understand or relate to this game unlike say Uncharted 2 or any of the sequels from that franchise.

    Not disappointed though, there are some incredible moments there just that they aren't joined together by convincing storytelling. I may go for an NG+ on the hardest level, I may content myself by replaying some of the better encounters. The combat is satisfyingly brutal although towards the end of the game did start to feel samey. Also the pacing was a little slow at times.

    And lastly the dogs. Leave them out any future games please. I have six of them and I don't want to have to kill them in a game. Big negative for me.    … Expand

I stayed away from leaks and spoilers but I had a feeling that something big was going to happen. And BAM it did, death of a main character from the first game, it shoot me. The idea of a revenge story was interesting to me. It was mentally painful at times to play, to deal with my grief and the grief of the characters in game but I stuck it out and became fascinated by the story and the characters. Ellie and Dina have amazing chemistry and their love shows throughout. But Ellie's need for revenge outweighs everything else to the point of obsession. It's pretty brutal.

    There is a point where the game switches gears and you all of a sudden play as the character that killed the main protagonist from the first game and for me I was SO MAD at that.. for about 30 minutes. Then when my anger waned and I was able to get back to the game I started to enjoy playing as her and as her history and motives are shown I started to grow to care for her as well.

    You think the game is ending but it isn't there's actually a few more hours and then the real end is really emotionally heavy. I left the game unhappy, not with the game just with everything, I was emotionally exhausted. It took me a day to really work through my feelings and then I understood how amazing the game was. No other game has ever made me actually think about consequences for actions and the emotional toll of doing things like this game did. It isn't something I would play to be happy but it's something I will play again just to get that feeling back, to understand each character further, to enjoy a piece of media that makes me FEEL something viscerally.

    Mechanically, the gameplay is a huge step up from the first game, the movement is fluid, you can now prone, and the dodge is fantastic. the crafting goes further and you have many more skills you can access in your skill trees. Even if you didn't like the story I can't see how you could give this game a lesser rating, just based off of how smooth the gameplay is.    … Expand

This was a largely anticipated game for me and although the game play and graphics was 10/10 the writing for this game largely made me disappointed. Although I fully expected Joel to die in this game I think it was poorly handled, with Joel and tommy giving their names up to a complete stranger and then just having the rest of the game to just be a revenge plot just seems to ruin the potential this franchise had.

LOU2’s story is not a labor of love; It didn’t take 7 years to make; and it makes no sense whatsoever compared to the first game. New characters we care nothing about are shoehorned into the narrative, while characters we know and love are ruined permanently. Such a miserable display.

Not just because Joel died in the beginning of the game way to early, but also I feel it didn't have the same vibe as the first one, the first one I was constantly on the edge of my seat and completely engaged in the game, but I found in LOU2 some parts were drug out a bit to long and I found it a tad boring. And tbh, I don't really find the ending very satisfactory, although I do know why they did it. The fact that a lot of characters I personally liked a lot died, such as jessie died didn't really help. I found that the end of the game was the best for me. This game is BY FAR not as good as the first but I guess for some people it's ok. There are many other games. I'd prefer to play other games such as Undertale, deltarune, Arkham games, shadows die twice, etc. Sorry about this just being all over the place but I just don't think it's worth the time or money… Expand

    Ignore the nonsense user score. This game is an absolute masterpiece, and one of the very best games I have ever played.

    The characters, gameplay, acting, direction, graphics and story are outstanding. People claiming that the story is a simple revenge quest have really missed masses of clever detail & nuance. If you liked the first one, you’ll love this. Definitely get it.

    Took me about 28 hours to finish the game and I thought it was incredible from start to finish. The gameplay is a big improvement over the first and now you can jump, dodge, craft more items, and obtain more skills. The exploding arrows were personally my favorite item to craft! The ending was sad but it made sense in my opinion.     Just as The Last of Us was the perfect way to introduce the next generation of the PlayStation with the PS4, Part 2 is the perfect introduction to the PS5 and sendoff for the PS4. Gorgeous and immaculate visuals, a tough and intense story, and characters with soul. While not living up to the masterpiece level of the first one, it’s a near masterpiece that people will remember for a long time.

    The long awaited sequel to the last of us is a triumph in video game excellence. Moving writing, great gameplay, stunning graphics. Truly shows what the PS4 is capable of as a console and what storytelling in video games can be. Moved me to tears again and again, was taken a back by the shear brutality and sensitivity this game contrasts with one another.
