By now, we all know and understand why Abby does what she does. Her father was killed by Joel, and that lead her to seek revenge. It seems good on paper, but is done terribly. She endures incredible training and pain to become what she is, in her path to seek revenge. The problem is, that the player doesn't like or have a connection with her father. Abby's father is described by the game as a bit of a fanatic, willing to murder a child to obtain a cure that the Fireflies probably don't even have the proper resources to manufacture. His appearances are also minimum, used to set up Abby's backstory instead of her motivation. Instead of building up a relationship and reason for what Abby did, the game simply tries to tell us how Joel wronged Abby and she was right to kill him. Abby just doesn't feel solid. You don't just want the story to make sense in the context of the world, you want the audience to have a reason to care about what happens onscreen, instead of using their imagination **An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind, but not for me. Only thee**

Naughty Dog has crafted a theme that they hold tall amid all the criticism, but it doesn't hold true for every character. A fine example of this can be attributed to Ellie and Abby. Abby's actions are sometimes completely unjustified, with her slaughtering WLF soldiers, as they look in shock of her murdering them, people that she's shared meals and long, harsh years with, yet she has no remorse for killing them. Her friends don't carry much weight to the theme of revenge either, being so poorly built up that you could have Ellie kill a strawmen and the story would still continue. Owen is the only outlier, but his role is more akin to that of a love interest in a teenage romance story, being the ignored lover and naughtily sneaking away with our main character to do some stuff. He doesn't have much character development. We aren't given much to care about, and Ellie's actions have little emotional impact on us. As far as we see, Ellie is just avenging her father figure. Nothing too bad. But the ending breaks down Ellie's actions and props up Abby. Imagine a faceless cowboy versus a gunslinger that you know an incredible amount of, and only ever does things out of necessity. You would automatically root for the gunslinger, right? There is a reason that villains are always less detailed than the hero, they're just a punching bag. But ND has messed up, trying to create an incredibly complex character that we don't have connections to and isn't forced to make hard choices, as opposed to one that's a product of their environment. It's why Abby feels like she should be the villain, and Ellie the one forged from steel

**If it wasn't for double standards, **** would have none at all** Drukmann is mentally unstable, being concerned with creating art in his own perfect vision, while not understanding the human perspective. On the one hand, Abby trained for years to murder a man she never met, having endured so much just to face off with a faceless figure. She's full of hate and anger that is completely undirected, and takes something precious away from us, the player. She takes away Joel. Then we want to see consequences for her, but then Drukmann doesn't understand the concept of revenge clearly enough. We viewed Joel the same way as Ellie, and we understand how she feels. We want to get back at her for ripping Joel from the base of our heart. But Drukmann treats the player as a buffoon, destroying skyscrapers and pitching tents on top of them.

**A path down the memory lane a day keeps the story away**

The flashback sequences were nice, but completely out of place and unneeded. Sure, we loved Joel's and Ellie's relationship, but Naughty Dog had already tore it down at the start. To me, that didn't matter, since one half of the memories were dead. They didn't represent a message or anything for Ellie either. They were entirely for us, the player, and it felt out of place within the story. It broke the pacing and felt like an incredibly disconnected scene that could've been in a different game, or a DLC. It was a quite and serene time, that had no place in this cruel and ugly world. They could've utilized it to help introduce the theme of forgiveness, and lighten the load of a tsunami-like message on the ending. But they didnt. And that's my honest criticism of the story. Some may say that it was art, but when you actually try to look at the story, you can see. Abby is what ND intends to be Joel, but she's doesn't make the tough choices and was fueled entirely by her hatred instead of only doing what was needed to survive. Lev barely got any character development and he/she (it?) felt like a tool for Abby to compensate for her lack of humanity. He's the only one she ever shows emotion towards and bonds with

All I can say is I hate it

Graphics : 10/10 the graphics is at best for a console video game

Fighting mechanics : 3/10 nothing new, only few animations which was implemented in fighting and of course now you can stealth prone... which was introduced in gaming maybe over 15 years ago in metal gear solid. Story : 0 /10

And of course, the STORY is garbage. In a story driven video game the story is what matters.

In this game the characters make stupid choices.

One example is the first game game Joel, he just give his name to a group of strangers with guns. Knowing that there are people looking for him after the choice he made in the first game.

And of course there is Abby, which will kill Joel in a brutal way at the very first 2 hours of the game.

Then you’ll be forced to play as this character who killed the best thing about the first game for almost 11 hours. In this game they kill Joel and make you play as the character who killed him, then try to make you sympathize with Abby. Which is almost impossible after what she did. The rest of the story feels boring, thanks to the bad writing.

And what makes the game worse is the forced agenda with meaningless characters

Definitely a Zero from me as a fan of the original game.

And maybe it might get 5 or 6/10 from a non-biased revier

Expand

This might be the first time I actually write a review, but I think what happened deserves one. This game was not made for the players - it was made for vaguely unidentified group of people which certainly are not the fans of the 1st part. Disgusting.

And I'm not even fully complete with the game yet. I feel ripped off as if this game should even exist. Having a difficult time finishing it. Really hope the future of gaming doesn't turn out to be Like this game. What also made me upset was the Mega critics big time critics given this game a 10 outta 10 Which is completely false on every level. It's disrespectful and misleading to every gamer that wants an honest review so for a lot of these companies to score this game a 10 outta 10 is disgraceful. Expand

The gameplay is great
The sceneries are amazing that at times i would get lost into the game
    The Sounds are unmatched
Both the Music and the soundtrack is as best as it ever was

But here's where we go downhill, The story looks as it is written by Ubisoft, But the sad part is that it isn't. The story contains way more plot holes than many games I've played this decade. The Characters are no nowhere like the first game. Joel and Tommy are so dumb in this game and so are most of the characters including those by Abby, They should've killed us off if they knew we were going to come after them. Ellie isn't like she was in the first game. i really wish this game was never released as it ruined the reputation of ND in me. I am just going to stick with the first game.

It is very apparent after reading the reviews that those who like this game are the very casual gamers, or those who haven't played The Last of Us Part 1 when it came out.

Very deceiving and shady by Sony Entertainment Corporation. We were promised a game just like the first game by the marketing and the fact that it is a sequel, but yet we got something miserable if you like the first game. As a standalone game it's also awful as the set piece is all wrong and the game is just too long. Wasted $60 I and many others will need a refund.

The message of the game, that revenge is bad and that it is good to forgive is lost during the game itself, since Ellie takes revenge on practically everyone, except for Abby, apart from the fact of the contradiction, since Abby gets her revenge for complete and does not give Joel the same forgiving benefit. The game treats Abby as a hero and turns Ellie into a villain, the motivation being the same, Joel killed Abby's father and Abby killed Ellie's "father" (Joel), however their fate is worked out different way. The fact the creators have followed the obvious route of killing off a main character is simply annoying. They could have been original and kept the protagonist of the 1st game alive, no, got to follow that cliche route that they must die. I wasn't even shocked, I was simply bored, nothing original... First they kill off Joel, then push the character who killed him (Abby) and make her into a character in which you are forced to play as. They also make the protagonist (Ellie) go on a revenge quest only at the end to spare Abby. Then seemingly leaving Ellie to return to nothing, making this whole story pointless. If they had a little bit of sense they would have given us at least some choices throughout the game. It has been 7 years, with that amount of time you could have made alternate endings. Expand

    The story...............
ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY THE WORST THING EVER CREATED. Neil druckman should be fired for this. Joel can’t say I wasn’t expecting his death in part 2 BUT he deserved BETTER. That aside playing through the first part with Ellie was absolutely enjoyable. Then.... they made me play as Abby... I DONT WANT TO DO THAT NOR DID I.
The game became a chore after that I felt NO desire to play anymore. I shut the game off and deleted it off of my PlayStation. And looked up the ending and other stuff on YouTube.
I understand they wanted her character to be empathized with but NO. They failed she is a BUFF chick who beat Joel to death with a golf club because Joel stabbed her father in order to save Ellie. AFTER her father wouldn’t listen to Joel’s warning. He didn’t torture him. He stabbed him ONCE.
I don’t care about her dad or her I wanted her dead and her friends.
Instead she kills Ellie’s friend and breaks both of Ellie’s arms and STILL gets to live at the end. Why was Abby allowed her revenge but Ellie was not. Why did Ellie have to lose it all? FINGERS INCLUDED.
    I don’t accept TLOU2 as cannon and I can’t be convinced otherwise 0/10.
I hate Abby and congratulations to Neil druckman and naughty dog for losing the trust of all their fans and supporters. DONT BUY THIS GAME

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
