    What makes a game "good"? I think that's a big source of the divide here. Do people have to like a game for it to be good ? Your answer to that will probably answer what you rate this game. (And I don't mean "enjoy" or even "have fun"--LIKE is my very deliberate word choice)

    I absolutely loved the first one. And I also quite liked the second one, but not as much. I know because I'm not as compelled to play it 4 more times. HOWEVER, from an objective point of view, I think it's on the exact same level as the first (with added ambition and literary techniques like symbolism and motifs). Very minor pacing issues in the middle, but it accomplishes what it aims to do PERFECTLY. And for that, I personally think it is very easily a 10.

    It has low ratings here I think because people didn't like what happened. Plain and simple. Whereas critics are critiquing the game itself, not projecting their own desires, hence the MASSIVE divide on this site. Nothing wrong with that I suppose, just depends on why you, as the consumer, buy games in the first place. It was well worth my money. Though it may very well may be a waste of yours.

    P.S. Was there false advertising? Yes. Does that detract from the artistic work? Of course not. It detracts from reliability of the marketing department.    … Expand

    Do not believe the reviewers, yes, the on a technical level, this game is super great, the gameplay is OK(nothing new tho), it is the story, it sucks. The real reason is the plot, it is just bad and forced, poorly written characters, doesn't connect well with the first one, narrative dissonances, disrespect to beloved Joel and Ellie making them stupid and nerfed to change the focus of the narrative, forced dumb situations to kill characters, cheap easy shockers, i mean, come on, they force you to play as a hated character and empathise with it. And it only gets worse, that ending, so disrespectful, so unsatisfying, it's an insult to the fan base.… Expand

    TLOU2 is the sequel we needed. Complex characters dealing with complex situations and emotions in a brutal world that is expertly realised. Acting, writing, tech, cinematography, gameplay - all exceed and improve on those of Part 1. I can't wait to see what the next journey Naughty Dog takes us on will be.

    Such an overrated game, nothing like the first part. The story is generic and predictible. I didn’t even finish it. The characters are flat. The gameplay has no improvements. Do yourself a favor and don’t buy this game, this doesn’t deserve to be supported. Is this the result of a studio well know for crunching its employees? What a shame.

TLOU2 sums up all of their mistakes in this generation. Naughty Dog never really knew how to handle the evident crisis they had while developing this. It shows in the final product.     Naughty Dog was not interested in creating another masterpiece. They were interested in nothing more than jamming their political views down your throat and it affected every facet of this game. The gameplay was never the main focal point in The Last of Us, but The Last of Us II is a step down.     It's completely epic! Awesome story, perfect gameplay. I spent more the 40 hours and feel that it will be such interesting to play once more

    I give this game 10/10 without any doubt. Naughty dog did a great job an effort to give us this game. I have nothing but love. Thank you.

    After completing game at highest difficulty and putting around 60h into it. I'm baffled by low user score. Not sure what's wrong with people for giving this game low ratings. It's full of gaming goodness: great story, fatntsic graphic, immersove game play. The only complain I have is why we had to wait 7 years for this masterpiece. Imagine if we would get this stunning game at theAfter completing game at highest difficulty and putting around 60h into it. I'm baffled by low user score.     Last of Us has always been a game with mediocre gameplay. This game is about story, storytelling, emotions. And when the story is poorly written, the characters do not evoke emotions, and the entire narrative of the game pushes you some political and cultural beliefs — you begin to notice all the disadvantages of the game.
    No need to lie and say that the graphics in the game went to some    Last of Us has always been a game with mediocre gameplay. This game is about story, storytelling, emotions. And when the story is poorly written, the characters do not evoke emotions, and the entire narrative of the game pushes you some political and cultural beliefs — you begin to notice all the disadvantages of the game.
    No need to lie and say that the graphics in the game went to some new level, this is the same console level that we could see in the Uncharted. No need to lie about the "new innovative gameplay" —it's still mediocre and dull. A game without a good story and characters turned into a disgusting fake. And the storyline with the murder of the protagonist of the last part at the very beginning is the height of stupidity and an attempt to cause unnecessary emotions.
    I would put more, but paid reviews of gaming publications completely discouraged.    … Expand

    Wow! First of all, a 0-5 rating is not acceptable AT ALL and not worth discussing. You're here to rate a video game or to let out an impulsive and emotional reaction to it? Second, I don't see any point in completely changing the game play while it worked perfectly in the first one. Name a franchise that overhauled its game play in the second installment? Third, you guys watch movies/TVWow! First of all, a 0-5 rating is not acceptable AT ALL and not worth discussing. You're here to rate a video game or to let out an impulsive and emotional reaction to it? Second, I don't see any point in completely changing the game play while it worked perfectly in the first one. Name a franchise that overhauled its game play in the second installment? Third, you guys watch movies/TV series or play video games so that it teaches you something new that you don't already know and present a ground-breaking storytelling and challenges everything you believe? Then everything is garbage! Fourth, saying general terms like weak story, bad character development, plot holes and blah blah without giving actual reasons doesn't make you smarter and cooler.
    100 percent recommend it, If you, like me, want to experience and explore and not be pleased with whatever you desire to see. This game is a piece of art.
    Read more books, think for yourself, analyze with logic not emotions, love something for what it is not what you want it to be and seriously, lower your expectations.    … Expand

    Don't listen to all the haters. The game is 10/10. Great characters, music, graphics, gameplay. I seriously have nothing to criticise.

The game challenges us as players to cope with the death of a beloved character, it knows you hate Abby, killing Joel is not a slap in the face of the player, but it's there to put you in the shoes of Ellie, we want Abby dead even if we know that she did exactly what we wanted to do to her, the game shows to us that we are no better than the person we most hate, the protagonist is the antagonist and vise versa. Abby has the moral high ground but we care more about Joel . This game is the train moral test and we all lost.… Expand

    No podíamos esperar una "historia feliz", Joel privó de la cura a la humanidad por alguien a quien veía como su hija, era lógico que habría consecuencias. Es una historia muy cruda, como se supone serían nuestras vidas si algo así ocurriera en la vida real. Neil se atrevió a mostrarnos las dos caras de la moneda, nos mostró el por qué de los actos de Abby, y tal vez a algunos de nosotros nos hizo empatizar con ella. Lo más fácil hubiese sido darnos un "final feliz" con Ellie y Joel teniendo una vida "normal", y desde mi punto de vista, hubiera sido muy cliché y probablemente eso si hubiera arruinado la historia. Para mi TLOU ll es un juego de 10 y supera en muchos aspectos (por no decir en todo) a su antecesor, que dicho sea de paso también es una joya.    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
